South Tyrol Tours & Trips
Picture a region where Italian and Austrian cultures blend in Alpine setting. South Tyrol (Alto Adige) in northern Italy offers dramatic Dolomite peaks, mountain villages with both languages spoken, and castles perched on hillsides. Ski in winter at places like Val Gardena, hike in summer beneath those distinctive limestone spires, and visit Bolzano's museums and markets. The food combines schnitzel with pasta, strudel with gelato—the cultural mix shows up deliciously.

Eduardo our guide was wonderful, the view on the hikes were amazing.
Hiking in the DolomitesGreat route for recreational cyclists. Accommodation was great, except for one stay. Rental bicycles (ebike and titanium hybrid) were in very good mechanical shape. Luggage transport occurred flawlessly. Overall, an excellent trip, which greatly reduced our need for trip planning for the week!
Cycling the Majestic Dolomites - Cortina to Bolzano - Classic Self GuidedGreat value for money. Good tour guide. Excellent travel company. Some days the hiking was a bit light. Would have given it 5 stars if the hiking was every day. Also tourradar/intrepid could also consider providing a higher cost tour where we stay at different refuges every day. This will reduce the transportation constraints and time and increase the Dolomites amazing experience.

Best time to visit South Tyrol
- Summer 2026
Summer opens up perfect conditions for exploring the high Dolomite paths. We base our popular tours in Dobbiaco or Campitello, heading out daily into the mountains. The Val di Vaiolet walk takes you to Rifugio Principe where lunch comes with clear views of Marmolada glacier. Paths around Tre Cime di Lavaredo circle these massive rocks, passing mountain huts serving traditional strudel. Our travelers like how flexible the days are - perhaps tackling Monte Elmo one day, then browsing Cortina d'Ampezzo shops the next. Smart use of cable cars gets you starting at 2,000m, meaning more time on high trails and less time just climbing up.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Autumn paints the Dolomites in new colors as larch forests turn golden. The paths quiet down after summer crowds leave, and our groups often find famous spots like the Tre Cime circuit nearly empty. Pack for changing weather - our customers say they've seen warm sun and early snow in one week. Routes adjust for shorter days but still cover key spots like Monte Piana's open-air WWI museum and the wide-view trails above Lake Misurina. Evening meals feel extra welcoming as temperatures drop, with hotels serving filling Tyrolean dishes like dumplings, mountain herbs and also cheese made from summer pastures.

- Spring 2027
Spring brings the lower valleys to life with alpine meadows full of early flowers. You'll pedal along the Adige River from Bolzano to Merano, passing vineyards and orchards just starting to bloom. Late spring sees cable cars running again, opening up higher trails like those around Lake Braies while snow still decorates the peaks. Our guides know the perfect timing for each area, adapting routes to match spring conditions. The hotels we work with serve evening meals featuring local spring ingredients like wild asparagus and fresh mountain herbs.
