10 Days in Northern Thailand, incl. Bangkok and Chiang Mai
A 10-day Thai expedition spans 4 major cities: Bangkok's temples, Kanchanaburi's River Kwai, Ayutthaya's ruins, and Chiang Mai's hill tribes. A 3-day trek leads through remote villages, traditional homestays, and the Tham Lod cave by bamboo raft.

- Day 1
Bangkok
- Days 2-3
Kanchanaburi
A 2-3 hour drive takes you to Kanchanaburi where you'll spend the night in a floating rafthouse on the River Kwai. On Day 3 visit Erawan Falls and bring water-resistant shoes with good grip for the slippery limestone paths. Learn about WWII history at the Bridge on the River Kwai and Allied War Cemetery. Remember insect repellent for your evenings by the river.

- Day 4
Ayutthaya & Overnight Train
- Days 5-6
Chiang Mai
After arriving in Chiang Mai walk through the Old Town. Visit Doi Suthep temple on the mountain but remember modest dress and water for the 309 steps. Day 6 is open for exploring. You might enjoy a cooking class or the night market. "The street food crawl in Chiang Mai was incredible - try the khao soi curry noodles at the North Gate stalls."

- Days 7-9
Hill Tribe Trek
Your three-day trek includes stays in village homestays. The first day covers 5 miles of steep terrain through bamboo forests. Day 2 stretches 9 miles across rolling hills. The final day includes stream crossings and jungle paths. "Pack quick-dry clothing and bring electrolyte tablets - the humidity is intense. The authentic homestay experience with the hill tribes was unforgettable."

- Day 10
Return to Chiang Mai
10 Day Thailand Itinerary, incl. Bangkok and Phuket
The ultimate 10-day route encompasses Bangkok's Royal Palace, Chiang Mai's temples, Mae Tang's elephant sanctuary, and the Golden Triangle. Final days feature Phi Phi Island exploration from Phuket, with stays at premium properties like Na Nirand Resort.

- Days 1-3
Bangkok
Start your journey in Bangkok. Get to the Grand Palace by 8:30 AM to avoid the crowds. Visit Wat Pho and Wat Arun temples before it gets too hot. A local guide shared: "Our guide Ning bought us local fruits to try and taught us how to fold lotus flowers for temple offerings." On day 2 take the train to the Railway Market where trains pass right through the market stalls. Visit Damnoen Saduak Floating Market in the early morning when local vendors are most active.

- Days 4-6
Chiang Mai & Golden Triangle
Take a morning flight to Chiang Mai around 10:20 AM. Watch the sunset from Doi Suthep temple overlooking the city. Your next day includes a visit to an ethical elephant sanctuary. A visitor recalled: "We fed the free-roaming elephants watermelon for breakfast, gave them mud baths, and washed them in the river - exactly what an ethical sanctuary should be." The Golden Triangle trip takes about 8 hours of driving. If you prefer less travel time many travelers suggest visiting Doi Inthanon National Park instead.

- Days 7-10
Phuket & Phi Phi Islands
Take the 10:15 AM flight to Phuket to get the most beach time. Looking for a quieter spot? Book your stay in Kata or Karon Beach instead of busy Patong. For the Phi Phi Islands trip take motion sickness medication if needed. One traveler suggested: "The morning boat tends to be less crowded than afternoon departures."

10 Day Thailand Itinerary, incl. Bangkok and Phuket
A comprehensive 10-day tour through 7 Thai cities, from Bangkok's temples to Chiang Mai's elephant sanctuaries and Phuket's beaches. Highlights include Doi Suthep temple, Mae Taeng Elephant Camp, and Phi Phi Islands, with stays at luxury properties like Valia Bangkok.

- Days 1-3
Bangkok and Surroundings
Kick off your Thailand adventure in vibrant Bangkok. "Get to the temples early - by 8 AM we had Wat Pho almost to ourselves before the tour buses arrived," one traveler suggests. Start exploring the Grand Palace complex but bring slip-off shoes since you will remove them often. Visit Wat Pho and Wat Arun next by taking quick ferry rides across the Chao Phraya River. For the best experience at Damnoen Saduak Floating Market leave Bangkok at 6 AM before the heat and crowds take over. Bring small bills for negotiating prices which vendors usually set at 2-3 times the actual value. Skip the tourist-packed long-tail boat rides and walk along the market edges for better photos.

- Days 4-6
Chiang Mai and Golden Triangle
Take a 2-hour flight to Chiang Mai where life moves at a slower pace. Plan your visit to Doi Suthep temple in late afternoon when crowds thin out and lighting is ideal for photos. A previous visitor notes: "The steep walk up has 306 steps - take the funicular if you're not up for the climb especially in Chiang Mai's humidity." Pack quick-dry clothes for Mae Taeng elephant sanctuary since you will get wet while bathing the elephants. Instead of spending 7+ hours driving to the Golden Triangle consider exploring Chiang Mai's craft villages. You can learn traditional umbrella painting or ceramic making.

- Days 7-10
Phuket and Phi Phi Islands
Fly to Phuket (1.5 hours from Chiang Mai) for your beach getaway. Take motion sickness medication before your Phi Phi Islands tour and book an early speedboat to avoid crowds at Maya Bay. Choose Kata or Karon Beach areas for a more peaceful stay compared to busy Patong. Spend your final full day in Old Phuket Town exploring its Sino-Portuguese architecture and food scene. Visit the Sunday Night Market here for a more local experience than the tourist markets near the beaches. As one traveler recommends: "Skip the overpriced hotel breakfast and try the local dim sum places that open at 6 AM - follow the locals for the best spots."

What people love about 10-day Thailand tours
- Northern Thailand Adventure
Amazing tour would highly recommend
- Fantastic Circle of Thailand Tour - 10 Days
Excellent itinerary and guides, guides were also flexible and gave their own recommendations (such as stopping at the train market on the way to the floating market) and also allowed us to dramatically change the last day in Chaing Mai as we didnt want to spend 7 hours driving, but filled our day with other activities. Highlights of the trip were the Elephant camp (which was very humane) and the PhiPhi island tour. Highly recommended but personally i would ask for a different itinerary for the day in Chaing Mai instead of the massive drive to the Myanmar/Laos border, as Chaing Mai itself is beautiful and full of things to do (I would have happily had a whole Thailand trip in Chaing Mai!)
- Thailand Highlights 10-Day Package
Very nice tour. Guides were very good as where places went to.
