Wildlife Trekking in Far East

Follow jungle paths in Phnom Kulen National Park to find the River of a Thousand Lingas and Preah Ang Thom shrine, trekking 12 kilometers with 253 meters elevation gain, then see Asian elephants in their natural forest habitat at Kulen Elephant Forest sanctuary where ten retired elephants from Angkor Park now live freely. Hike 0.6 kilometers up Vang Vieng's viewpoint for sunset over limestone peaks.

Trek through jungle to find the UNESCO-listed Sambor Prei Kuk site with its rare octagonal temples from the 6th-9th centuries, then bike off-road trails to Preah Khan and Ta Prohm where massive tree roots wrap around ancient ruins. Daily rides cover 50-90 kilometers, ages 14-70+.

Trek through Hoang Su Phi's terraced landscapes starting at Thong Nguyen commune, passing highland villages and tea plantations with a stop at Raspberry Hill viewpoint. After touring Trung Trang Cave, hike up to Ngu Lam Peak on Cat Ba island, then kayak around Lan Ha Bay's karst formations. Stay at Panhou Retreat where you can try traditional herbal baths and hot springs.

Walk through UNESCO-listed Kinabalu National Park at the base of Southeast Asia's highest peak, where you'll find over 1,000 orchid species and carnivorous pitcher plants. Cross the Poring Hot Springs' Canopy Walkway 41 meters above the rainforest floor, then cruise Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary and see orangutan feedings at Sepilok.

Hike 0.6km to limestone viewpoints overlooking Vang Vieng's karst scenery and trek through rice fields to traditional caves in Khmu villages. Walk forest trails to the ancient Pak Ou Caves filled with thousands of Buddha statues along the Mekong River, then see the Bolaven Plateau's coffee trails by Jeep.

Trek 7 kilometers to tribal villages, traveling by motorized koyoun through cassava plantations and forest trails. Boat Kratie's Mekong waters to search for rare Irrawaddy dolphins, then hike Phnom Kulen National Park's jungle paths with local rangers to reach Phnom Kulen Waterfall for a swim.
