All the staff at the Accomadations were lovely, the group leaders Allie and Paige was always up for a laugh and kept us informed. Would like to have been informed the return ferry isn’t included. I think the challenging thing on this tour, was to look after a big group and I thought they were always careful to make sure no one was missing (special mention to Allie, who came back to find us after some of us lagged behind on a bike tour).
However, although it was good to get an update about the next day the evening before, it made it a little hard to plan things individually and in advanced. I can see why the info is given in “bite size” chunks, as people will be able to absorb the info better, but I think the detailed itinerary would be helpful when sent alongside the welcome email, a few weeks before.
Just a small mention, the language from the emails were a little grating. I can see that the vibe is meant to be cool and relaxed: “fam-a-lam” for instance. Maybe I’m a bit uptight, but it was annoying to read, as I thought the age group was 18-40. I don’t think the older lot (I’m 29, so will place myself in that category) appreciate being spoken to like that. Seems like the author is like an old relative trying to get “in” with the younger crowd. Doesn’t have to be super professional, but going the other way is surely a hit or miss?
Overall, this is my first solo tour and it was an memorable experience. I am pleased that it was a hazard free trip (so far) as this was one for my biggest concerns. I think Paige and Allie are lovely and wonderful, with great photography skills and are so very helpful.

The tour itself was brilliant, although slightly more party based than expected. Every place we went was vibrant and beautiful, made even better by the various activities planned for us along the way.
While accommodation was not your usual 4 or 5 star hotel resorts, I think this added to the overall backpacking experience, and let's be honest no one wants to spend time cooped up in the room when you are in such stunning settings.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the 18 day tour which was filled with amazing places, good food, awesome activities and brilliant people. Would happily come back and do it all over again!

I had the best time and can't fault Tina one way or ali in any way they were always there to help with any questions and I felt completely safe without feeling mothered or as if i was on a school trip! They were so much fun all the time and always there with helpful suggestions! Tina also sorted out all of my onward travel for me for once I was leaving the group so I felt confident to go solo which I thought was really helpful and eased my worries about going solo a lot! I had the best time ever met some amazing people and all In all had a lush first week In Thailand and will defiantly be recommending the tour to friends who would want to do the same thing in the future! The 8 day tour was a nice introduction to Thailand's culture and landscape. This was my first time in Thailand. I got to experience the busy street of Khao San Road with lines of bars and restaurants …The 8 day tour was a nice introduction to Thailand's culture and landscape. This was my first time in Thailand. I got to experience the busy street of Khao San Road with lines of bars and restaurants and street vendors selling anything from scorpions to bracelets that say "I love a lady boy." The Buddhist temples, Wat Arun and Wat Pho, provided a great cultural experience to learn about the history of Buddhism and the role of monks in Thailand. The 12 hour overnight train ride is definitely a "try it once" experience that will give you sometime to look out the window and watch the sunset or listen to music. We spent the day and night at Khao Sok National Park were we were surrounded by the lake and huge limestone mountains. I spent the day swimming and kayaking around the magnificent lake. I wish I had brought my book to read for part of the day because it is that tranquil. Then came Koh Phangan Island which is one of the lesser known islands but still has a lot to offer. We stayed at Bottle Beach where it was quiet and hardly any tourists on the beach. At night, the locals put on a fireshow and I got a chance to "play" with fire! The boat party was a nice experience to get to know other tour groups and dance to music. I jumped off the boat into the water a few times which was a thrilling experience. Now for the negatives, most of the nights were filled with excessive drinking activities which if you are 25 years old or younger is fun, but gets old after a while. I was the second oldest person on the tour (my late 20s if you are wondering), while most of the group members were 25 years old or younger. They were a nice bunch of kids, mostly from the UK who were on holiday or took a gap year after high school before they started university. I would of preferred a more older crowd. Overall, the tour provides a great first time experience for those who seeking an adventure in Thailand (or Asia for that matter).

From the moment I booked the tour to when I left, the communication and organisation from the tour guides was immense! The places you visit and see are amazing, especially Khao Sok National Park and Bottle Beach for me! The accommodation at each place is sweet and I couldn't have any complaints. After each day, if you either want to party or relax then the guides can cater for you, but why would you not want to party?! Each guide - Itchy, Tamara, Allie and Ponpon was so friendly and if you ever needed anything/advice they were more than happy to help. All in all, such a great tour and I will definitely be coming back. Would recommend to anyone wanting to come to Thailand!

Our local guide Bo is a legend, with his stories and humour, he was my roommate throughout the tour and I couldn't of asked for anyone better, whatever we needed he helped instantly, he knew great restaurants to go to , and being a local he added some extra cool stuff to the itenary which was spot on, being his first trutravels tour no doubt he smashed it and he will continue to do so.
A special shout out to Amanda who was an incredible star, this tour was her holiday, but being another trutravels tour rep, she was professional and made sure we had the best time and put our trip ahead of her when she didn't have to so, and I will always have enough love for her for putting us first.
This tour was my third tour with the company in three months, and tru made it a hat trick, had the best time, met the best people and I will always be thankful to then for opening my eyes and realising there's more to life then 9/5 job.

Even the 16 hour train journey was fun! Accommodation surprised me the most with how lovely it was especially it Koh Sok and Phi Phi. I was doing the 18 day trip and went alone but never once felt alone on the whole trip!! Would so recommend

Just completed the 10 day tour of Cambodia. Our tour guides Allana and Ali were superb. Both were very attentive and remained positive throughout. Whilst I am a bit of an old boy (47) in comparison …Just completed the 10 day tour of Cambodia. Our tour guides Allana and Ali were superb. Both were very attentive and remained positive throughout. Whilst I am a bit of an old boy (47) in comparison to the rest of the crowd, I was made to feel welcome by all concerned. My only criticism was that I felt the holiday was more about the drinking, rather than seeing Cambodia. Lets be fair, I could have stayed at home to get smashed and saved myself a couple of grand!! With this in mind, Tru Travels need to remember that people will adjust their drinking if they know they have an early start and I felt that more could have been achieved from the tour, if the days started at 9, rather than 11. Also, a deal should be arranged with the Hostels where water bottle are refilled for free (obviously, built in with the price) as this would reduce the amount of plastic water bottles purchased in a country already strewn and littered with plastic. In addition to this, a tour should be about understanding the cultures and lunch stops should be made at local restaurants / villages where the real Cambodian population can be met and our spending make a real difference, not at the commercial places or within cities. I am aware that the tour is being re-looked at and I really hope that a little more culture is included within the new trip.

The Cambodian tour which was my personal favourite is well balanced between the utopian island of Koh Rong and the endearing journey that country has experienced with the tour of S21 and the killing fields. I’m a relatively reserved person by nature and I was worried I wouldn’t get along with the travellers but a fair play to the Mickey for his effortless kindness and wonderfully flamboyant personality. He is always willing to listen and help, not to mention being incredibly funny. Allie was also amazing especially in Cambodia where she led the tour by herself and made an effort to make everyday as great as possible giving options all the time of what we could do to make sure everyone had a good time. I ended up sharing the same room as her on one or two occasions and she is really kind and considerate and a lot funnier than she knows. I had a wonderful time and I couldn’t recommend it enough which is no small feat from a seasoned misanthropist.

I had many great experiences during my tour including: meeting elephants, staying on floating bungalows, visiting temples, going on boat trips learning muay thai boxing, kayaking and staying on many lovely beaches. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone planning on visiting Thailand.

Our tour guides Ben, Allie, Amanda and Gun made everything so fun and easy! Ben was so friendly and always willing to help if we needed anything at all! She was so lovely and I was so happy we had her as part of her tour - I miss her already and we only left her a few days ago! All the tour guides were really great!!
I would highly recommend this tour to any young traveller - solo or in a small group! I was a solo traveller and it was a perfect tour to go on! A great size group and so easy to make new friends!
If you book onto this tour you will have the best time - an absolute must!!

They started as my guides now they are my friends. Benmore taught me so much about Thailand and really got us to immerse ourselves in Thai culture. Allie was so much fun and seriously supportive when needed too. More like a friend that organises things and knows what they are doing. Amanda also had this approach and was always up for doing lots of fun things and helped us out a great deal with our onward trip. Kuntapol was our second thai guide on his first tour and all I can say is that he will be an amazing tour guide, so funny and really helpful. Special thanks to ben and kuntapol who helped me get my bank card back from a naughty ATM! The tour itself is fast paced and jam packed full of really great activities and additional options that ensure you really get to experience Thailand and miss nothing.

Really down to earth, she and Pimm really took away the stresses of traveling. The hotels we stayed at were sweeeet and nearly always had a pool. Transport was minibuses and local taxis/songthaews. Make sure to bring motion sickness tablets for the windy roads of Pai (or get some in Thailand as they are pennies). Some but not all meals were provided so factor this into the budget. Totally worth the money and you get to meet some really awesome people. Would highly recommend this trip to anyone, a great way to explore such a beautiful country!

All our accommodation was very good, clean and most of them had pools! Minibuses were air conditioned, clean and comfortable. The taxi trips weren't very comfortable for longer journeys as it was cramped and stuffy, not bad for shorter trips though. Overall awesome trip with amazing people and I would definitely recommend to friends and family!

The variety of activities was excellent especially if you are into activities/basically a big kid. The hotels we stayed in were always very nice and nearly always had a pool. Transport were a mixture of minibuses and songthaews/local taxis (sometimes can be in a songthaew for >1hr which could lead to motion sickness so buy some tablets!). Some meals are included but most are not so factor this in the budget aswell. Allie was a fab tour leader, she was really easy going and gave great recommendations for places to eat/bars etc. Both Allie and Pimm took the stresses away from travelling and made our experience very enjoyable. All in all i would definitely recommend this tour, a great way to explore a beautiful country!

Pimm was approachable and helped us with any issues we had, e.g. a few activities were cancelled due to the rain in Pai but we were reinbursed for this.

Allie.. where do I begin.. made me laugh the whole trip so sociable no matter what the time! And was by my side on nights out leading the way great tour guide.. would love to do another tour with her. Also I had Amanda she was great for keeping the conversation flowing and very funny and last but not least mickey! Made me smile the whole time absolute hilarious and very organised.

The 14 day tour: This trip had a great mixture of adventure, culture and nightlife. Although a bit tired by the end of it, the fully packed first 2 weeks were an awesome experience. The elephants, ziplining and the Chaing Mai temple were my biggest highlights.
Accommodation: Although none of the hostels were 5*, they were all relatively clean and had ok wifi. Even the hill tribe accommodation was good for what we needed, added to the experience of being in the jungle.
Transportation: There was a lot of days spent just travelling which should maybe be made clearer in the itinerary, although it didn't take away from the trip as we had 2 weeks. However all of the transport we took was in good condition and most had good air conditioning.
Leaders: Amanda and Ben, were both brilliant leaders. They worked very well as a team and you could tell that they were friends which helped to bring everyone together. Amanda was great at getting a lot of photographs which gave us awesome memories and she always made sure we knew what the full plan for the next day was. Ben was great fun, always smiling and always making sure all of our activities and transportation were ready to go so that the trip was virtually seamless. Ben also did a great job of introducing us to Thai culture, which I fell in love with a bit. Together they made a good team, making the whole trip better for it.
The 8 day tour: The 8 day tour had a much more relaxed vibe during the day and better party atmosphere in the evening. Highlights being the day at Koah Sok national park and the night at Bottle beach.
Accommodation: Some of the places we stayed on this trip were just unbelievable, Koah Sok national park and bottle beach in particular were beautiful. The accommodation it's self is ok but the locations were perfect.
Transportation: This tour had almost 3 full days of travelling to each location which really took away from the trip over all as it felt like a much shorter trip for it, again this should be clearer in my opinion. The night train was also not a great experience as there was no air conditioning and bugs in the beds. I know that almost everyone on my trip would have been happy to pay at least £15 extra to be in the carriage (next to us) with air conditioning.
Leaders: Allie and Bee. Allie was great fun, she knew how to bring everyone together to get to know each other in such a short period of time, she's also got great music taste. Bee was extremely friendly and the one who made sure everything and everyone was organised. Bee also was lovely enough to get out of bed early hours in the morning to help a guy on our tour out of a sticky situation in Bangkok. Between them they were great leader team.
Overall: The 21 day Thailand experience is the perfect mixture of adventure, culture, relaxing and partying. The tour takes all of the worry out of travelling as everything is planned out for you, meaning no need to worry about what to do the next day or worrying about transportation. Being on a tour also meant I made life long friends as spending 14/8 and even 21 days with a group of people you get to know them extremely well and it makes the entire trip more enriching for it. I will remember this trip and the people on it for the rest of my life.

I took part in the 8 day Thailand tour and it was honestly the best decision. I got to meet and travel with some of the most amazing people from all different backgrounds. Each day of the tour was filled with activities and some of the most breathtaking sights. I also couldn't have asked for better tour guides, Allie and Bee, who with us every step and made sure that we were all introduced and helped us all to bond as a little team. They made the whole tour so fun and chilled out at the same time. I will miss them both so much as well as the whole team; after spending pretty much every waking moment with them, its like everyone became a small, very odd family~

Such a good combination of some culture and activities and ending the tour with some gorgeous relaxing beach days. All the temples were beautiful and interesting. The cooking class was brill, just don't eat beforehand! The elephant experience was incredible and a once in a lifetime and the national park was stunning. Everything was included in the tour that was mentioned and the tour guides were superb. All were very helpful, fun and friendly. They knew lots to tell you about Thailand and would help you to organise your onwards journey - which is more helpful than you realise when you get to that point. Such an amazing three weeks that shows you so much of Thailand and I would definitely suggest to others and would use TruTravels again. Just remember Thai time.

Amanda, Allie and Mickey are fantastic tour guides who brought their energy and enthusiasm to the tour. They were also extremely organised and made sure you had all the relevant information for the next day. You never had to ask questions because they had already given you the answers. The whole experience was amazing, thanks guys

It's perfect if you have a big list of things you want to do with a limited amount of time to do it, and it was a great way to start off my travels in Thailand. Helped me get my bearing and really made me feel comfortable in a country so far away from home. Allie was down to earth and relateable and was a great friend by the end of the trip. She made the transition into traveling easy and was a great listener making it super easy to feel comfortable within the group and to ask her questions if we had any. I had a really great time with her as our guide! Erawan Waterfalls were so much fun and absolutely gorgeous, the elephant sanctuary was SO amazing and Pai is such an laid back and relaxing place (which you will really appreciate after the jungle trek) that I totally recommend that any traveler should include in their journey. Overall, had a really great time on this tour. My advice to anyone attending this tour would be drink 10x more water than you think you need, and if you feel sick or exhausted, know your limits and don't be afraid to sit out if the heat is too much or you aren't feeling well. This tour is so packed with fun activities you won't miss much and you'll have a chance to recuperate if you know your limits (I learned these lessons the hard way). I'd definitely reccomend this tour and Allie as a guide. Thanks for an unforgettable 2 weeks

They weren’t just our tour guides - they were our friends :) I have met some amazing people and have had an experience of a lifetime. Couldn’t recommend any more! The tour itself was so much fun and massive value for money. We stayed in some amazing accommodation and locations and the tour guides gave us good advice to help us with the rest of our trip! I can’t thank them enough for all their help and support - I will always cherish the memories that we made on this tour with all the gang. Thank you all so much :)
