I planned this trip with 6 of my best friends to celebrate finishing our nursing degree. It took multiple weeks to narrow down tour companies and different tour itineraries to fit the wants and needs …I planned this trip with 6 of my best friends to celebrate finishing our nursing degree. It took multiple weeks to narrow down tour companies and different tour itineraries to fit the wants and needs of all 7 of us. After finding the 23 day island hopper with trutravels our decision was made. This tour and the tour guides I had the pleasure of traveling with (Justin, Tamara, Max and Alex) along with the new connections I made has went above and beyond my expectations for my Thailand trip. Every day was amazing and really goes to show how much time and effort trutravels puts into their company to make it expectional for their travellers. The balance of activity filled days and chill days were laid out great. There was never a time were I felt bored, uninformed or unsupported. Each experience on this tour and the people I got to spend it other has made my travel experience one that I'll never forget and forever cherish.
My tour started off with Justin, Tamara and Max. It continued after 13 days with Max and our new tour guide Alex. Each of which were outstanding tour guides.
Justin showed great support throughout our tour. Always informing us of events well in advance so all travellers were prepared for the next adventure. Justin genuinely cared for each and every on of his travellers and made it a priority to get to know each of his travellers. He was more than supportive and brought an very trusting and protective vibe to the group. With that being said he was also uplifting, fun, and energetic and always ready to have a good time. Justin makes for an exceptional tour leader in many ways. One thing that really stood out to me about Justin is his ability to make people experience things out of their comfort zone in a way that they're comfortable. He truly wants people to have a life changing experience and a trip of a lifetime.
Tamara was on her internship and was part of our group for the first 13 days before returning home. Tamara was an amazing, energetic and outgoing tour leader. When Tamara was around there was never a dull moment and everybody's faces were full of smiles. Her energy was contagious and she always ensured everyone was having the time of their lives. She had a very kind heart and was always there when you needed her. She was a very supportive and loving tour leader and the energy wouldn't have been the same without her!
Max was out Thai tour guide. From my understanding it was his first tour, with that being said I would have thought this was Max's 100th tour. Not only was Max full of Thai culture information, he was also a very supportive, funny and caring tour guide. Any questions we had on your Max always answered in great depth and it was very obvious that Thai culture was one of his expertise. There was also a time in our tour where Alex had to stay behind with a sick customer in Railay and Max had to take all of us to Phi Phi while they stayed behind. Max was calm and confident in this position and there was never a time I didn't feel safe with Max around.
Alex joined our tour after 13 days when Justin amd Tamara left. Alex made the transition from our previous tour guides to him as our new tour guide an easy one. He made the effort of getting to know us before it was his time to start. Our group was very welcoming and Alex's trustworthy and outgoing personality made it even easier. Alex genuinely cared for each of his travellers and always ensured everyone was having fun but also safe. Throughout the tour alex always informed us of upcoming activities and what to expect within the next couple days. He was full of information and a very caring tour guide.
I can truly say with 110% of my heart that these 4 tour guides are beyond passionate for their job. They put themselves before others and ensure everyone is safe at all times. There was not a single time with trutravels where I did not feel safe having these tour guides around. If it wasn't for these 4, my Thailand trip truly would not have been the same. I would recommend Justin, Tamara, Max and Alex as tour guides, as well as, the trutravel tour company to everybody I know. Please keep these tour guides around as long as possible and always welcome them back for future trutravels adventures because they were exceptionally AMAZING!!!!!!!

Justin and Tamara were my guides for the first 13days if the trip and they are such genuine people, from losing my wallet, to being lost a couple times, coming into the tour earlier than expected etc. Whatever it was they were always there to help which made the trip for me really! Alex was my guide for the second part of the trip and is also one of the biggest sweet hearts. All three of them are some of the most high spirited charismatic people I’ve ever met and they always showed us a great time- they always took us to the best restaurants, bars, parties, beaches, activities etc! All truly great leaders and friends. Max was the Thai leader for the tour and is extremely knowledgeable about Thai culture, nature and the tourism spectrum in general- as well as being a constant sweetheart all the time. The tour is very organized and everyday was better than the last and I’m so happy I chose trutravels! Will miss everyone so much! Would recommend the tour to anyone! Xoxo Sabai Sabai

The tour itself is planned out very well and is an easy and stress free way to travel Thailand and meet lots of new people. Our tour guides were all so kind and helpful and couldn’t have done anything more to ensure our trip was fun and tailored to each individual.
Our tour guide Justin was one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet! He brought the whole group together and made every single person feel comfortable and safe which is so important for first time travellers like myself! This helped to make the trip so much more enjoyable and stress free! He would really go out of his way to make sure everyone was happy and had something to do if there was ever any spare time in the days! He was better than the other guides at organising activities and letting everyone know what we would need for the day aswell as timings to be ready! This was important to me as I wanted to know the night before what I would be doing the next day so I could be prepared! Everything ran smoothly with Justin as he was very organised and professional! At the same time this guy knew how to party and had great knowledge on the night life and generally everything about the areas we visited!!
Our tour guide Tamara was a star! She was so much fun on this trip and I am so so happy I’ve met her! If I ever had a question about anything she would always be able to help or find the answer for me! She would always get the party going and make sure everyone was having the best time!! She was so easy going and so easy to get on with! She was so lively and her knowledge on the country was also so good! I learnt useful Thai words from her and useful tips about travelling in general! If I ever had a problem I felt comfortable to go to Tamara, she was very professional and loved getting involved in all the activities with us!
Our tour guide Alex was sucha laugh and made the trip equally as fun!! He brought his camera on some of the activities and took amazing photos of us all!! He was always up for a good time and was a funny guy! I really hope to see him again when I’m on the rest of my travels!
Max was out Thai tour guide and he was THE BEST!!!! I couldn’t fault Max at all, he was always there for any of us when we needed him!!! There was a few medical situations where Max helped us out and made sure we were ok!! I was ill on the over night boat and be let me have his bed so I was closer to the door, he also offered his tablets and water out to everyone who was feeling ill! He was so friendly and made me feel at ease when travelling Thailand! He always wanted us to try Thai food and recommended things for us to try which I liked! Max informed us throughout the trip on Thailand’s culture and way of life! This was so interesting and taught us all a lot about the country and there people!
This company and especially this tour is such an amazing experience and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone whether travelling solo, in a group or in a pair! I will miss my Tru Fam so much and I will never forget this trip! I am now onto my next 2 tru travels tour next week!

The trip was absolutely AMAZING. It was above and beyond my expectations. The guides (Tam, Justin, Max, and Alex) were all so helpful whether we had questions about where to buy stuff or activities to…The trip was absolutely AMAZING. The transport was always on time. I would have preferred to have the nicer car for the overnight train and would be willing to pay more for it. The accommodations were all clean and comfortable.
This has been the best 3 weeks of my life, and I feel so fortunate to have chosen TruTravels and would definitely recommend and use them again in the future!

Our tour guide, Amanda, was so down to earth and as soon as I arrived, she picked me up from the airport and was so welcoming to me. She was fun and professional all at the same time. Our other guide, Papsi, was nothing but fabulous !! He was absolutely hilarious and so loveable. We had Alex for the start of our tour too, who also gave us such a fun and enjoyable experience, he was always going out of his way to make us all as happy as possible. Thanks so much guys :)

Our tour guide Alex was very welcoming, friendly and knowledgable of each destination in terms of the culture, history and sense of direction. Considering he is new to the Bali Tour team he has provided an outstanding experience.

The tour had a perfect pace with plenty of opportunities to head out and party as a group or chill out by the pool or beach.

The value for money is second to none, without even mentioning the quality of the tour guides. We had Drew, as well as Alex. Both were extremely friendly and knowledgable. Always up for a good laugh and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The hotels we stayed in were excellent, great breakfast supplied and had a really good vibe. How True Travels managed to do all of this for £500 will never cease to amaze me. The boat to the Gili islands was incredible, I suffer badly from sea sickness and am not the greatest fan of boats, however, this boat is something else. Wind in your hair, travelling to paradise, best hour and half. The local tour guides were also incredible. They spoke excellent English and were able to answer some of my more complicated questions. Swimming with the turtles on Gili T, monkeys climbing all over you in Ubud and surfing in Kuta, are just some of the highlights. Only issue I had with the tour.... it went too fast!! I wish I could do it all again! Thank you to True Travels, as well as Drew & Alex for making such a memorable tour! Already looking into our next tour with True Travels. Many thanks, Olivia & George.

My two tour guides Alex and Minnie played a massive part in making it so amazing as they were both so helpful but also so much fun. They looked after us all so well and went above and beyond to make sure the whole group's experience was the best it could be. I would 100% go on another tour with those two as the guides, couldn't have asked for a better pair to take me on my first tour. Not to mention the tour itself was so action packed and worth every penny!

But I was proven wrong straight away. From the moment we arrived in Thailand Alex and Maya made us feel welcome and part of the group. By the end of the tour we were a big family! The activities were always fun and the perfect amount of time for us to enjoy free time also. Alex always kept the party going (even if I did drink him under the table... on numerous occasions) and Maya had us laughing right from the start, and made sure all of our activities were filmed so we could remember everything! They made this trip so much more fun!

This activities were really fun and I really enjoyed learning about Thai culture from Maya. My favourite activities were probably indoor surfing and snorkelling!
I would definitely recommend this tour to everyone, especially to lone travellers like myself as it was a great was to meet new people.

Little did I know, it would be the best decision I ever made to book on the 8 day tour with trutravels! Before I had even got to Thailand, Alex one of the tour leaders had got in contact with me to introduce himself and answered every little question I had for him. I arrived a day before the tour started and was staying at a different hotel with a friend, but that didn't stop trutravels from making us feel welcome by inviting us out for some welcome drinks! After about 5 days, I realised that I was having so much fun with my tour group that I wanted to stay on for the full 18 day island hopper tour! Maya and Alex made this so easy for me to do and organised everything! I also managed to lose my bank card within about 3 days of being in Thailand but my tour leaders helped me every step of the way to sort it out. I loved having Maya there to teach us all some Thai words and phrases whilst also teaching us about the real Thai way of life. Alex and Maya made for the perfect tour leaders as they were both caring, organised, bubbly, fun and everything in between! I made some great friends from all over the world on that tour and am already planning a trip back there with some other friends on a trutravels tour :) I wouldn't hesitate to recommend trutravels to anyone who is thinking of doing some travelling in Asia. They help you create memories that will last a lifetime!

The tour is jam packed with things to do, making sure you're never bored and offers a great mix between sightseeing, activities as well as plenty of opportunities to party. On top of that, it's very well organised from start to finish...no stress, no drama! From the airport pickup on the day I arrived to helping me sort out flights/ ferries/ accommodation to Bangkok for my return flight, nothing was too much trouble for our guides! All three guides were very sociable and joined in all the fun, which let me know from the get-go that this trip was going to be something pretty awesome!! I went on the tour as a solo traveler but in all honesty, it doesn't matter if you're there on your own or with a friend because you're there with like minded people all looking for the same experience and you all just click instantly! I've met bunch of amazing people from all around the world who I can now call my friends, so a big thanks to them and to everyone at TruTravels for making this trip epic!

- Awesome group of young adventurous and fun individuals on the group.
- The bungalows were AMAZING. Beach and floating... very minimalist, but a fantastic experience!
- Khao Sok is gorgeous! I wish we would have stayed a little longer.
- Bottle beach also gorgeous, also wish I would have stayed longer!
- Koh Phangan is a very laid-back backpacker town. Fun people and parties. The hostel we stayed in had great AC and was very clean and friendly vibe. LOVED THE DOGS!
Things that could have made the trip a little better:
- Hostel in Bangkok was not very good. Our bathroom was flooded the entire time and the rooms were hot, however, you can't beat the location. It was walking distance from Khao San Road and the shopping and restaurants right around the hostel was awesome compared to the rest of the city.
- We were in Bangkok a little too long. I wish I would have arrived the day the tour started instead of the day before like the website suggested. Bangkok was hot and busy and I much rather enjoyed the rest of the trip better. I would have preferred to have stayed in Koh Phangan an extra day instead of Bangkok!
TIPS!
- Bring extra bug spray and sunblock. If you choose to bring a carry-on, buy 2 bottles that are the appropriate size to go through TSA for both bug spray and sun block. YOU WILL RUN OUT and you WILL need to have it on you at all times!
- Bring wet wipies! They saved my life. There is no toilet paper anywhere in Thailand!
- No need to bring any fancy clothing or over-pack. Trust me, you'll need the space in your bag for all the awesome things you'll buy there. It's so cheap!
- If you do the hike in Bottle Beach: WEAR SNEAKERS + tons of bug spray and sun black. Take a small backpack to carry your camera and a LARGE water bottle bc you'll need it! The hike is pretty advanced and I don't recommend it for anyone that gets easily scared of heights. To reach the best view point we had to climb a huge rock and walk along a very narrow strip to reach the edge, but it is WELL WORTH IT!

Being one of the oldest in the group (I'm only 30 but most of the group were in their early 20s) I felt rejuvenated to say the least! These guys really know how to party and stay active throughout the trip and keep the energy up at all times. They never showed frustration even though I can imagine being responsible for a large group must be difficult. And they made sure to keep a smile on their face and happily answer questions and help you out with anything and everything you needed.
The only thing I'd say to make the experience a little better (maybe bc I'm "so old") would be to have some more down time. Pretty much everywhere we went it was stop and go stop and go. The itinerary was jammed packed, but understandably so because there is just so much to see and do in the beautiful country!
We were fortunate enough to be in Bangkok during Songkran (Thai New Year) and it was SO much fun! Water fights pretty much everywhere you go for three straight days. Bangkok is pretty cool, but I was there too long. I arrived a day before the tour started and stayed another 2 1/2 days after the tour ended. I would suggest planning to arrive the day your tour starts because we don't really do anything until dinner in the late afternoon. Bangkok is easily done in 2 days.
Khao Sok - HOLY COW. I wish I could have stayed there longer! It literally felt like a dream. So remote, peaceful and scenic. The water is fresh and calm and so delicious to swim in. I also loved the food at our Bungalow resort.
Bottle beach was absolutely gorgeous. Again we weren't there long enough :( I did a hike with 2 others from the group, 1 of our tour guides, and a Thai guide to lead us up the "mountain" (I'd definitely consider it a mountain!) The Thai guide told us that we'd be able to do the hike in our sandals, but I think he hadn't considered that most of us aren't used to ROCK-climbing practically barefoot in extremely hot weather. Needless to say, it was extremely difficult. I'm not a HUGE trekker. I'm from Miami, FL so the majority of hikes we have are all on flat land. But I have done a couple of hikes in the Dominican Republic and California, in which I was prepared for (SNEAKERS). A little advice to anyone who attempts this strenuous, but EXTREMELY rewarding hike (once you reach the top) is to DEFINITELY wear sneakers, put on a lot of sunblock and bug-spray, and take a little backpack to hold your camera and a large water bottle. I wish I would have been warned a bit more, but I understand it was our tour guide's first time so I can't really blame him!
Koh Phangan was amazing! Definitely a back-packer town. Very laid back and lots of partying. I was pleasantly surprised by the snorkeling on the Booze cruise. It was gorgeous! I didn't drink much on the booze cruise because I wasn't a fan of the type of liquor that was provided, but I still had a fantastic time as it was the last day with the group and by this point we were all besties.
Ultimately, the tour was fantastic for such a low price. Its definitely a backpacker-type trip. You're on the go at all times and staying in hostels and bungalows so theres no need for fancy clothes or over-packing. Definitely suggest taking a backpack instead of a rolly and lots of WIPIES! There is NO toilet paper in barely any of the bathrooms. Wipies saved my life! Also definitely take a good supply of bug-spray and sunblock. We ran out of bug spray and got eaten alive.
I highly suggest this tour for anyone looking for an adventure and meeting new people. You're traveling with a group the entire time so you're bound to create lasting friendships!

From the airport pickup on arrival to our last day, everything was really well organized and we had nothing to worry about. Maya was really helpful offering Thai history and culture along the way, and Alex and Itchy were a blast to hang out with the whole trip. All three were very social and were always willing to help us find fun things to do in our spare time during the tour. There were always great options available to us throughout the trip, so we never felt bored. The accommodations were great and a lot of fun as we stayed in a variety of places. Echo beach hostel was the best hostel I have ever stayed in. All in all, it's an awesome trip to do solo or with a friend because you get to meet a ton of new people from around the world and instantly become great friends. Im looking forward to booking another trip with them!

The trip is great if you are a first time traveller like myself because going solo travelling can be daunting. By doing an organised trip you know that you'll meet people who are looking for a similar thing and experience to you.
The itinerary is packed with stuff to do so there's never a day where you'll be bored and there are a couple of free days to give you the opportunity to explore.

It was my first time travelling anywhere solo and I was a bit nervous - I needn't have worried. My guides, Alex, Itchy and Ben looked after us all and made sure everyone had a great time and got involved.
They really went above and beyond, from Alex coming during his free time to take some of our group to a tattoo parlour to Itchy and Ben taking us to an *amazing* infinity pool in Koh Phangan the day after the tour ended shows you what a great job they do.
And on top of this my group were amazing!
Highlights of the tour:
Being soaked by a child sitting on the front of his parents motorbike with a water gun whilst riding in the back of a Tuk Tuk ..(due to it being Thai New Year, not guaranteed with every tour sadly)
Being given our blessing/fortunes read at Wat Pho temple in Bangkok.
Riding around the backwaters of Bangkok in a long tail boat
Thai massage - OMG. Do it. Better than a Swedish one (was a bit nervous as thought it might be painful, its definitely unusual but amazing)
Tips:
- Bring Factor 50/high protection Sunscreen (I brought Factor 20 with me..rookie mistake - as if I haven't owned my Irish skin for the past 27 years. Learn from me please!)
- Bring an eye mask and earplugs for Bangkok sleeper train (they don't dim the lights and can be a bit noisy with the hustle and bustle of Thai life -also bring a hoody to get cosy in as it can get actually get cold on here ha.)
- Powerbanks x 2/3! When you get to the floating bungalows in particular, power doesn't come on until the evening so if you want to take phone photos here definitely bring a power bank or 2 (& you *will* want to take photos here, this is the national park and absolutely beautiful).
- Thai Sim Card - equivalent of about 6 UK pounds and you get data almost everywhere. Worth it can buy from any of the many 7/11s around just ask Ben for help :-)
- If you are there for Thai New Year (Son Kran) wear swimwear under everything for the first few days - you will get soaked at any moment.
- Just go! :-) amazing trip, you won't regret it!! Thanks again to Tru Travels for a great trip!

I was really nervous as to what was to come, how welcoming the people would be, and what the language barrier would be like. Upon arrival the TruTravels staff made me feel nothing short of at home. My tour guides were enthusiastic, welcoming, loving, and very fun. I may be biased, but I can honestly say I don't think my experience would have been the same without Alex, Itchy and Ben. They fit right in, are easy to talk to and help you with anything you need, whether it be food allergies, travels, suggestions for after the tour. I saw so many incredible parts of Thailand through this company and am already looking into a tour of Bali as well.

They were helpful, made us feel safe, helped us with anything we needed, and were so much fun to be around. Thailand itself is insanely beautiful inside and out. Spending the night in floating bungalows in Khao Sok was by far my favorite part of the whole trip. We luckily ended up in Bangkok for the Songkran water festival so that was just the cherry on top of an already awesome trip. I did the 8 day tour with a friend. At first I think we were both a little skeptical about how the tour was going to go but those thoughts quickly left as soon as we got to Thailand. We landed the day before the tour began but were still picked up at the airport and brought to the hostel. There I met our guides Alex and Hein. Friendly from the beginning and giving us important information from the start like how the bathroom worked. Even though it was the day before the tour started and it was Alex’s first tour, he still took us out during his free time with Hein sharing his knowledge of the area. The next day, the guides were busy all day with airport pickups but still managed to take the time to see how we were doing. It was this day that I met most of my fellow travellers and our Thai guide Benmore. There rest of the tour went by way too quickly with Ben showing off her knowledge of history and culture. Unfortunately towards the end of the trip I got sick and wanted to die but Ben and ___ (I’m a bad person and can’t remember her name. I believe it started with a P) took care of me by getting me pills and hydration packs. P saw that I was sick and did this before I even spoke to her. P also helped a couple of us find our way back to Bangkok. They even managed to group my friend and I with the Northern Thailand tour group since we were going to the same area outside of Bangkok. The tour group was lead by Daniel and Minnie who were also super friendly. Minnie was kind enough to help us book our trip to the elephant sanctuary. My only complaint for the 8 day tour would be communication. It wasn’t always clear on what was going on. All in all, amazing company with amazing guides. I’ll never forget the wicked places we went to. Definitely recommend it.

He brought us around town on his own time a day before the tour actually started, he was the first person to come introduce himself with a big smile and if you had a question and he wasn't sure on the answer he would try and figure it out and get back to you. He was good to have a few drinks with and good to sit and chat with. All around a good guy and I think he'll be going places in this company! (Literally and figuratively)
I also had Hein as a guide and he was awesome too! Whatever we wanted to do on our free time he would arrange, for example he brought me to go get a tattoo at a shop he well recommended, on his own time, with his own transportation. It's Healing very nicely and I love it incase anyone was wondering.
All in all this was a great experience but always room for improvement anywhere right? I would have like to known a little more about the details on the itinerary daily like, the transport and travel times for that day just to better be prepared. The only reason I bring that up is because I think all 8 of us on the tour had asked the same questions everyday on sepret occasions.. so I think that can get annoying for the guides answering the same question 8 times. So maybe a little face time in the mornings to talk as a group would be my only suggestion. To be fair we did have a Facebook group where we kept in touch with times and stuff but we didn't always have a strong wifi connection so I missed out on a few important last minute details for the day.
I highly recommend this company and these guides who were awesome! Hope to see you guys again soon!

Even before arriving, the communication and excitement shown by both of them made me feel very comfortable, excited, and safe! Each location we went to was well organized and both maya and alex were extremely helpful with anything we may need or any problem that arose. In addition to being great tour guides, they both became great friends as well. We had a mix of ages and personalities in our group but all ended the tour as a close group who all now have so much love for thailand and trutravels! Amazing group leaders and amazing itinerary. Did the 18day Tour with Trutravels. Alex was on his first tour and oh my did I have a blast! Honestly he made the trip for me. Not only did he offer support for the whole group he made sure everything and everyone was happy. He went out of his way to provide 5* tour rating from me.
The group was small but made everyone feel part of a team and he knows some class drinking games! Drinks well for a Welsh man.
If you get the chance to go on his tour then I can 100% promise that you will look back on those 18days and think they where worth every penny. The 18 day tour is cheap for what you get and the places you go are sweeeeet!!
Last thing, for someone to have been on his first tour he will make sure your plans outside of traveling are done. Tour leaders are there to make sure you save money but also have a hectic time, not once did he try and force us to going to expensive places or outside activities, he was chilled to do what everyone else wanted to do and would come along, come rain come shine.
His knowledge was awsome and he knows some sweet spots on the tour. He got up for me at 8 to take me on this wicked viewpoint. Really he didn't have too.... But he did because he wanted me to feel that I got the best experiance of what Thailand has to offer.
Feel like I'm his proud dad after this review ahah but honestly couldn't have asked for a better chap, made some amazing friends and I make sure to recommend Trutravels in the future to my mates.
