I cant thank Tru Travels enough for an amazing time travelling the West of Philippines. With the large amount of islands in the Philippines I wouldn’t have know where to begin to plan travelling aroun…I cant thank Tru Travels enough for an amazing time travelling the West of Philippines. With the large amount of islands in the Philippines I wouldn’t have know where to begin to plan travelling around and managing to see all what we seen in 10 days. The experiences from swimming with turtles, kayaking small lagoon El Nido, a Filipino cooking class on the castaway experiences, and watching plenty of beautiful sunsets, are only a few of the highlights on the trip, that will stay with me forever.
Patrick our group leader was kind and helpful. Nothing was too much for him, and he would offer to help without being asked. I do not own a go gro or a particularly new iPhone model with the best camera, Patrick would kindly take pictures with his own Go pro and Drone and post them on the group every night so that people like myself never missed out on the beautiful picture opportunities Philippines has to offer. You wouldn’t even need to ask he’d just be there.
Tru travels is the perfect combination of group activities and free time and feeling like you could be yourself. Patrick gave opportunities to everyone and was understanding that everyone is different and likes different things.
I would highly recommend travelling with Tru Travels especially if you’re a solo traveller and on a time frame, as you are guaranteed to experience the best of the Philippines. My one regret would be not doing the longer tour.

Both Patrick and Dom were amazing in different ways. Dom was training from Patrick so aswell as learning the ropes and helping us understand all information he was always there to keep the party going, keeping everyone in good spirit as well as being assertive and making sure everyone was okay every day answering any questions we needed answering. As for Patrick where do I start with him! He made me laugh every single day! I loved that he made all the boring stuff/information fun, he had a bag full of different games keeping everyone entertained. His banter in my opinion was spot on. He was happy to answer any questions and even go really into detail about everything, even questions nothing to do with the tour- I never felt he never wanted to talk to me, even when he was ill with a cough the last couple days he was still full of spirit!
Overall my trip has been f***ing fantastic and I’ll definitely be back to do the east Philippines tour.
I would definitely recommend this tour to everyone!

From the moment Patrick picked me up at the airport, nothing was too much trouble. Both him and Dom ensured everything was sorted for the group and kept the vibes positive and fun, no matter how tired or hungover we were. The balance of cultural facts, sightseeing and boozy nights was great and saw us all make some decent friends and have plenty of laughs. The Philippines itself is breathtakingly beautiful and I constantly found myself in awe of the natural environment, especially on the boat trips. If I didn’t have to get back to my masters, I would happily extend for another 10 days with the boys. The experience was fantastic and only topped off by Patrick aka the shot king smashing 16 shots in 5 mins in coron and still smiling at breakfast this morning! Dom kept the tunes banging, all day everyday - thanks lads for a great time, it’s been an unforgettable one!

Cannot begin to describe how unreal the places we visited were, pictures struggle to do them justice and they exceed any previous expectations of the natural beauty you’d find in this corner of the world. Stunning! To top the experience off, our tour leaders Patrick and Dom were the bees knees; providing everything you could want and need from a tour guide. Not only did they know their stuff but Patrick managed to do 16 shots in 5 minutes and still get up the next morning. Holy demon, what a machine. A truly outstanding sight. Everything you get on this tour is 5/5 and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Stress less and just do it! Ps, Patrick if you ever get round to buying that island lemme know, I’ll bring the rum

Main highlights (of which there were many) include: seeing dolphins as we made our way back to Port Barton with the sun setting, sunrise paddleboarding off the castaway island, and Patrick’s legendary drinking ability.
We couldn’t have asked for better guides to show us around. Patrick and Dom went above and beyond in every respect and really allowed us to stress less. All in all, it was an unforgettable experience.

Patrick and Dom were amazing tour guides, if anyone needed anything they were there to help and were so easy to go to with any questions. I felt more like I was travelling with friends than being on a tour also as they were always out with us and so easy to talk to and get along with. There were so many activities included in the tour, the value for money is amazing.. canyoneering is definitely one of my biggest highlights! And just the places in general are so beautiful, the whole 19 days seemed pretty surreal in the most amazing way! Massive thanks to Patrick and Dom and to TruTravels for the past 19 days and I will 100% be recommending it to people!

The full moon party was an outstanding experience and it was comforting knowing that trutravels had a base for us to always had to if we needed anything. Khao sok national park was an amazing experience which I thoroughly enjoyed the accommodation was perfect and the food was amazing.
There were plenty of activities on this tour especially combining the north with the South.

They're all very good at their jobs. There's a lot of good bantering and laughs with the guides and the group. I really enjoyed all the places that we visited on this trip. Bangkok was full of cultural sites and and delicious Street food. Khao sok has been magnificent. It felt like I was in a movie, that any second a huge dinosaur would appear. It was beautiful. Koh tao was it amazing Island to see as well as how tourism has only taken place there recently. I also understand now why PP Islands was chosen for the movie the beach. And lastly I enjoyed koh phangan, with all the fantastic beach parties that the island has. I would definitely used trutravels again and recommend this tour company to any other people, who enjoy a couple drinks or two, out there looking to see Thailand.

I loved every place that we went to because the guides and group that we were with we're such great company. Khao sok was very serene and exquisite, bottle beach was an amazing place and even the view from the top was magnificent. The full moon party was way better than I imagined and I'm glad that I had Patrick Arthur and Scotty to show us the full experience. Koh Tao is a beautiful small island with such magnificent sunset. And the pp Islands I really stunning and the boat trip that we took on it was such an amazing day out. I couldn't really thank Patrick enough as he went above and beyond to help myself and the group out. He always greeted us with a smile which always made us feel better, because we know that he was out with us the night before and he can still share his warmthness and positive attitude with us. In the near future I will definitely use trutravels again because after being on this tour comparing it to many other tour companies, trutravels is really a value for your money.

Everything we did was a great, enjoyable experience. even when we wanted to do our own things doing the free time, the guides helped us out a lot with recommendations and help to organize for a lot of things ie Patrick arranged for a visit to the elephant sanctuary in Phuket which was one of the highlights for me. I would recommend for this to be added to the tour. overall I loved every minute of my time in Thailand with the best team and tour guides. trutravels 10/10

Arthur and Patrick definitely added to the experience with their banter and all the fun they brought to the group. This made getting along with everyone so easy and I am definitely going to miss the group. Patrick will be an unforgettable tour leader! I can't imagine trying to organize everything on my own. We done so many activities and everything was so smooth.
I am still speechless some of the things I got to see on this tour and feel so lucky to have done them most of the things I would not have been able to experience if I was to travel solo.
I will 100% be recommending true travels to family and friends - it is great value for money and takes all the stress away allowing for you to relax and enjoy the amazing country!!!.

Patrick and Gun are incredible tour guides that are so upbeat and lovely.
Throughout the tour boom became so much more confident approaching us for that. Boom was super fun to hand out with and fit in so well with the other guides.
It is a time of my life. i will never forget, i loved every second of it, we had amazing people and weather which just made everything so much better. Would definitely recommend this tour to everyone

Starting with Patrick, he has been helpful with everything and did everything with a smile on his face. Which keeps the positivity in the group so strong. The places we stayed were very nice and clean, and offered everything we needed. Nights out were incredible as Patrick knows all the best places and people , like I'm sure with all guides with trutravels do. I've made some really good friends on this tour from countries around the world that honestly i'm going to miss so much. All in all there's not a single person that i wouldn't recommend trutravels to and am 100% going to be booking more tours with them in the future.

My favorites were Khao Sok national park in the floating bungalows - it was an incredible day just getting to know people, swimming and kayaking. Another thing i loved were the boat trips which were a great way to see the islands, and go out to lots of good snorkeling spot. The places and activities were all amazing, but the tour was made by our tour guide Patrick. He's so much fun but also such a nice, thoughtful guy. He always made sure everyone was having the best time and went above and beyond to make our trip extra special. He knows people everywhere and everyone loves him for a reason!. I couldn't have asked for a better tour guide!!

What an amazing trip! I've been to the Philippines three times so far and it never ceases to amaze me :D The country has so much diversity and the locals are beyond friendly. I've been to the Philippines three times so far and it never ceases to amaze me :D The country has so much diversity and the locals are beyond friendly. Speaking from someone who has traveled the country quite extensively I can honestly say that TruTravels does a wonderful job showcasing some of the best areas with this island hopping tour. One of the biggest difficulties I found traveling the Philippines was the fact that it's comprised of over seven thousand islands! Now on one hand that's great.. it means many places are still virtually untouched by tourism but the catch twenty-two of that is a lot of islands are hard to get to or even get around on once you've made it. This is one area where TruTravels really pulls through. They pre-arrange all ferry and bus transportation plus the smaller island hopping days so you just have to show up and they take care of the rest, no stress at all.
I don't even know where begin with all the activities.. we did so much in those nineteen days it was mad. Island hopping, checking out all the beautiful lagoons, snorkeling with shipwrecks, zip lining over the ocean, swimming with millions of sardines, seeing sea turtles, traversing the waterfalls of Kawasan, visiting a faith healer on the black magic island, surf lessons and above all staying with one of the oldest tribes in the Philippines for two nights was all so incredible! Another thing that made it for me was the tour guides.. Patrick and Justin were such fun and interesting people who wouldn't hesitate to go the extra mile for anyone in the group, they helped numerous people (including myself) book their onward travel or accommodation after the tour had ended and had the best stories to share by the campfire. Both of their personalities were larger than life and I truly consider them lifelong friends along with every other person on that tour. Thank you TruTravels for the trip of a lifetime!

Even thought some of it was out of my comfort zone Our guides and the local guides were all very encouraging and i ended up with a lovely local guide, Neil , who helped me every step of the way and made my day amazing. It was a once in a lifetime experience. The Sardine run was awesome to see. this is one of the only 2 places in the world to see this. it was fantastic to see the huge schools swoop and moved in formation. we also swam with a Giant turtle that day and were able to view it soo closely. The Siquijor Island tour was a new experience, visiting a faith smoke healer and swimming in a three tier waterfall. also visited a 400 year old tree & fish spa. Even thought we did not partake in the surfing lesson, we were able to view it from the beach. It looked like so much fun & the surfing guide seemed to do a great job. The Siargao Island hopping tour went to 3 beautiful islands. Patrick Bought the food for a bbq & our locals cooked up an amazing lunch on the second island. Naked island is simply a sand bar, we chilled and Patrick did a surprise photo shoot. Justin was wonderful at taking pictures. He always made sure there were plenty of pictures taken of each activity ( group & single) and always included everyone. then shared them on the group chat for everyone to see. and enjoy! All and All this was a great and hassle free way to see the sights of Philippines east. We look forward to our next tour in the Philippines west.

I don't know how they do it, buckets of energy everyday, reems of information about Thailand and answering all questions, made me super comfortable travelling to my next destination without them. The amount I'm missing them just a day after leaving is evidence of just how awesome they are! I will absolutely be going home and telling everyone to jump on this tour! Overall super organised, fun and absolutely will be coming back!

First things first...I'm not a keyboard warrior that the TruTravels website so eloquently describes. I'm a seasoned traveller (not backpacker) who has lived abroad in lots of different countries. I'd …First things first...I'm not a keyboard warrior that the TruTravels website so eloquently describes. I'm a seasoned traveller (not backpacker) who has lived abroad in lots of different countries. I'd like to think I can give a fair review of any holiday I've been on.
I went on the Thai Island Hopper 18 day tour...and lasted 8 days.
Gripe 1 - This is not marketed by TruTravels as an 18-30 holiday but it is clearly that. I'm 38, and was one of the oldest on the tour. 90% of the others were 21 or below. I like a drink and a night out as much as the next person but when it's to the detriment of the actual trip then I take issue. Every evening is about getting as drunk as you can in the bars you're taken to (these bars are owned by friends of TruTravels). The following day is then a right off because everyone is either too hungover or late so you don't end up doing anything until 1pm by which time half the day has gone waiting for others to get ready. This happened every day.
Gripe 2 - The accommodation is 1 star or below (by European standards). The first couple of days is spent in Bangkok in the Mango Beach hotel. This is a whole of a hotel where they put 3 people into 2 person rooms. Its cramped, the plumbing sucks and the AC is a disaster. Being the first hotel we were staying at, first impressions of the tour were bad. As a recommendation to TruTravels - start the tour off in a better hotel. People have travelled a long way and could do with a least a 3 star hotel to start the tour off on. We're not animals and better accommodation would be appreciated. Considering accommodation is so cheap in Thailand, it wouldn't break the bank to spend an extra 10 quid on rooms for people. Along the way accommodation at Khao Sok National Park is basically a box with no AC, the beach huts at Turtle Beach are ok but don't expect AC or decent plumbing, and the hotel at Kao Phangan is ok but again the plumbing a disaster. Accommodation is my biggest gripe with this tour. The tour is not sold as a backpacking experience, but it is.
Gripe 3 - one of the senior members of the TruTravels team (not the guides) got very close with someone off the tour. This is not professional!
The redeeming feature of the tour were the two tour guides, Patrick and Arthur. They were both fun guys who did a good job of organising the group. They always made sure people were safe and had a way home at the end of the night. Patrick is clearly an experienced guy so he was the go to guy for questions. Arthur is training and so is still learning about the job. Both were good guys. I do feel the tour could've been more informative in terms of the info we were given. For example at the temples in Bangkok we were given a quick 5 min overview of the site and then had to wander around not really learning anything.
Overall, I wouldn't go on this tour again with TruTravels. I think somehow they need to decide what they actually want to be - an 18-30 tour company dealing with students, or a tour company that offers adventures for everyone and provide a bit more of a cultural experience rather than just drinking and shagging.

To be honest, I absolutely loved the Jungle party, more than the full moon party. Especially since Patrick was able to get me on stage, just made it even better and more special! I did enjoy the ease of not having to plan anything, just had to show up and everything was taken care of for you. I would definitely recommend this tour for first time travelers, especially solo travelers. The camaraderie was really great and I will miss the friendships we made.

I personally think that the two day itinerary in bangkok could be improved as there is a city with not much things to see compared to the whole country of Thailand. Our tour guide Patrick and Arthur were the greatest, and were always cheery and happy. They were always gave us useful and knowledgeable information through out the tour.

Our guides Patrick and Brayden were fabulous! Super organised and loads of fun too. We had a really good group of people as well which made it even more special. If you have the opportunity to do this tour then DO IT! You won’t regret it.

The accommodation was good throughout and we were lucky to have two great guides in Patrick and Brayden. They joined in with everything and really helped to make it the experience it was.
We were the first group to do a TruTravels Philippines tour and I think because of this, in places, it wasn't as smooth as it could have been... the route could perhaps be tweaked a bit, some organisation could have been a bit slicker. But these are just teething problems and when the guides gain a bit more local knowledge I'm sure it'll run perfectly.
On the whole in was fantastic and I definitely wouldn't hesitate to recommend TruTravels or the Philippines as a destination!

All were epic excursions! The accommodations were definitely more geared towards backpacker style (if I were to do the trip again I would probably bring a backpack instead of my rolly suitcase). I felt the location of the accommodations were great in proximity to night life, getting into town and the beaches as well as restaurants and convenience stores. Also the food and drinks at all of the accommodations were delicious.
Transportation was great, I loved riding in the traditional Jeepney's, trikes, and scooters.
Patrick and Brayden were extremely nice, laid back dudes and they were both very helpful and courteous to everyones needs and wishes. They were a blast to hangout with and definitely made the trip memorable. I think they lack some overall knowledge of the Philippines and the areas/culture, but I'm sure this is because it was the first tour to the Philippines and will come with more experience and time. Maybe hiring a local tour guide would help educate the crew on language, areas, Philippines facts/history, best restaurants to eat at etc. Also, I wish the itinerary could have included El Nido and Palawan Beach, or possibly make the tour longer to incorporate these two stops. I'm sure these kinks will get worked out the more this tour runs. I enjoyed the sleep in days where we had time to ourselves to explore the areas, scuba dive and adventure on our own if we wanted.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this tour to friends and family. I have memories that will last a lifetime!

Our over experience with TruTravels was a positive one. We enjoyed most of the people on our tour and really liked our guides on a personal level. Thailand as a country didn't meet our expectations be…Our over experience with TruTravels was a positive one. We enjoyed most of the people on our tour and really liked our guides on a personal level. Thailand as a country didn't meet our expectations because we were really surprised at how much pollution there was at every beach we went to (among other issues) but this isn't something TruTravels can have any control over. As a tour company they do over sell the accommodations and activities a tad. They joke often "You're getting the Tru Thai experience!" and that, I guess, would be a nice way to put it (sleeping on rough non-air con trains and "slave" ships a couple of the nights). We had wished that we could have spent a night or two more in Khao Sok National Park and skipped Bottle Beach (disgusting little place to far from town so you can't get away from it). The tour is very geared towards partying and drinking so full disclosure, if that isn't your thing, this tour may not meet your expectations. You will need to seek out your own hiking/trekking/motor biking experiences as those are also not a priority to the tour in general. Speaking of full disclosure, there isn't any with this tour in particular. We were all left to wonder where we would be staying from night to night. We would ask our guide and they would be super vague about the next hotel/hostel we were going to. It seemed like they didn't know half the time, or they just didn't want us googling the places. Either way, it seems like a security issue to not tell your tour ahead of time where they will be staying each night on the tour. This should be given in the final packet of information along with optional activities at each stop so people can plan and budget ahead of time. Many of the areas visited are walkable to the big party spots and shopping. We found that the island hopper tour with TruTravels was more about hopping bar to bar than from beach to beach.

The things I would change have nothing to do with Patrick or Colin but more to do with the Itinerary- I wish we could have spend a day or two longer in each place to see and learn more about it, i felt a lot of the time there was a lot of ‘travelling’ and not a lot of ‘touring’- during free times I would have wanted more suggestions of where to go and what to do but they are the only complaints I have! Patrick and Colin really made my first 18 days in Thailand something I will never forget- they were both so warm, friendly and caring and I felt safe and in good hands the whole trip and like I had made friends for life- they were always asking us if we wanted to get food with them or go out etc... . The effort they both went to to make sure everyone was ok and having fun in each place was outstanding and I can’t fault either of them, in times of need they were never far away and due to some personal circumstances, Patrick’s confidentiality and discretion was great and I can’t thank him enough for it. Patrick’s knowledge of the islands was outstanding and he was very clued up on the do’s and dont’s everywhere we went. I couldn’t pick a favourite part of the trip because I found it all stunning and so much fun and that’s only because of the tour guides efforts in helping everyone get along and I really have made friends for life. I would recommend this tour to any one who asks ( already have) and you are just insanely luckily if you get Patrick or Colin as your tour guides. This is a fun, informative and overall great trip with so much included and so much going on- boat tours, temple tours, surfing, rock climbing and so much more...

Our overall experience of the 18 day island hopper was amazing. Our group was INCREDIBLE, always laughing and together. They tried to keep is informed when they could. Apart from telling us we had the amazing overnight ferry then when we got there it was the ''slave'' ship. As guides they always gave us options on what to do where to go. Which was nice, especially on nights out if we just wanted a chill they would take us to live Music. The only downfalls of this trip was some of the accomodation and food. Bottle beach was the worst we had rotting bungalows, with holes in the floor, walls and a fan that didnt work with no plugs. They got slowly better from there, with eventually ac in the rooms. The food situation, was that they always seemed to take us to really expensive bars/restaurants or ones that in the reviews everyone got sick. And on our tour everyone got sick, apart from those that never ate at any of the Restaurants. At railey beach for example the restaurant was not recommended by reception as she said people always get sick (and our group did) when there are highly rated (and still cheap) restaurants watching the sunset on West beach. Apart from those points what an amazing 18 days and we will have memories to last forever.

When we arrived we were immediately made to feel welcome both by the guides and the other back packers. We were taken to Khao son road for a crazy night which I'll never forget. it started to get real fun once we moved south and through the islands, that's where all the breath taking moments happened! I always felt safe and well informed throughout the tour, each day and night our guides would make sure everyone knew the game plan and they would always go above and beyond to show us a good time and show us their local knowledge at each location we stopped at. They never stopped working! The accomodation as a whole was great, there were one or two spots which werent overly fantastic but nothing that you wouldn't expect. I found the timing to be spot on, it was a good balance of travelling and relaxation and there was always space to have some chill time if you needed to recharge yourself. Overall 10/10 for patrick and colin.. 10/10 for the tour.. My favourite location was Ko Tao.. stunning island, good vibes, great accomodation and a good variety of activities! DP

We even had some rain which cancelled one of our boat trips but to make the best of things Patrick booked a Thai cooking class for us instead that was a lot of fun!

Some of the highlights for me were definitely seeing the different waterfalls, they’re stunning and definitely need to be seen; the white beaches and crystal clear waters at each destination are breathtaking and the nightlife in Boracay especially is crazy. I wanna go again already! #justgo

The banter on the trip was second to none and this was all down to Mark and Patrick, they integrated with everyone so which made everyone feel so comfortable like we had known eachother for years. They provided the platform for everyone on the trip to make lifelong friendships not only with eachother but with themselves as well. Would deffinately recommend this trip and if you get Mark and Patrick then your in for a wild journey!

I used it to kick start my 4 months of travel and I have honestly made some lifelong friends! All the places we stayed were clean and we always had he best time whether you wanted to have a crazy night out or a chilled time by the pool! But this tour wouldn't of been half as good if it wasn't for our guides! Mickey, Patrick, Alanna, Lawrie, Aaron! (Oh and gam she wasn't a guide but she's an absolute credit to the company!) our guides were the most fun and caring group of people who made this tour so amazing! They were all so much fun and would help with any problem you had! I had a scary encounter at 3 in the morning on the night train and Aaron was straight up helping me! Even once I left the tour I've message them and they've helped me so much with onward travel and where to stay and even just people I can vent to when I'm stressed! We did everything that was on the inclusions list and more. The accommodation was fine and got better nearer to the end of the tour. The price was very reasonable for the number of days. The tour gave me the opportunity to get out of my comfort zone and later gave me the confidence to travel on my own afterwards. I was with 3 tour guides, Patrick Tine and Aaron. It really helped that Patrick spoke Thai. Tina and Patrick also helped me with my moped "incident". Aaron really went the extra mile and took me back to our accommodation when I needed to on a night out. If I had to nitpick I would say that the waterfall on Koh Phanang we visited was not the best and wasn't picturesque at all. More water stream than "waterfall". It should be replaced.

Thailand is a stunning place full of amazing landscapes and the the most beautiful places iv ever seen.. however i truely feel that without the enthusiasm and charisma that Patrick and Mark had the trip wouldnt have been anywhere near as much fun as it was. They really made sure with no effort that there was literally never a dull moment either travelling between destinations or at our destinations there was never a boring moment! Between all the fun they looked after the whole tour group making peoples problems there problems and doing anything they could going well out of there way to help the smallest of issues with out complaint!
They really care about everybody and listen to stories from people from all walks of life.
I feel they both went quickly from tour guides to two of the best friends iv ever had i really cannot thank them enough for all that they have taught me about thailand and also about life and how to care and look out for everybody and just enjoy every moment and help others to do so too!

Having a tour guide that spoke Thai was really helpful and made everything so much easier.
When anyone wanted to do excursions they always had one of the guides with them doing it as well which I thought was very good of them, especially when there was only one person doing it.
Overall they were amazing tour guides and I hope if I do tours in the future I have them again!

The one and only thing I would suggest to look into about this tour, is spending 5 days at echo beach hostel, a lot of our tour struggled to keep ourselves occupied after full moon and could have done with a day or two less and an extra night on bottle beach perhaps.
Overall though, absolutely loved the tour & highly recommend to anyone who wants the highlights of Thailand!

Everything was organised insanely well that there was never any need to stress or worry about what we were doing or where we needed to be because it was all done for us and so we were able to enjoy every moment of the tour without any stress. Whilst it was all organised and planned well, there was also a good balance of having activities planned and also having free time to go and explore or just chill as we pleased. All accommodation was beautiful, some better than others of course (the floating bungalows being a huge highlight), but all lovely. To have got this far into a review without mentioning the guides is wrong of me. Patrick and Jonjo made the entire trip and without them the experience would not have been half of what it was. Whilst being the source of all knowledge and managing to get all 20 odd of us to the end of the trip in one piece, they also brought the group together and enabled us all to become a small family by the time the trip had ended. I have made friends that I will stay in contact with for a very long time, it is designed to accommodate many, a 10+ year age gap between some group members went unnoticed. I would recommend this tour to so many people, in fact, I already have. I would also jump at the chance to do it a thousand times over. Thank you again to Patrick and Jonjo for being just so awesome! Less than a week after finishing the tour and I miss it like crazy, TruTravels did very well.

We saw some of the most beautiful places on earth and our group bonded well, seeing as we were being taken care of so well. The tour's itinerary allowed me to experience a lot of southern Thailand's major spots, including some that I wouldn't have known about on my own, with a fun-loving group of people for a relatively great price. I also really liked that we had the flexibility to do other/additional activities on our own if we wanted to. I was initially in a group of around 20 with Minnie (and very briefly with Dave) before our group combined with another that came to be led by Itchy, Daniel, and Patrick. The guides were all knowledgeable, very prompt at responding to messages, and fun to be around. They do their jobs well and truly want to make sure that you are enjoying your time. Each brought something different to the table that I think contributed to the group's dynamic. They should all be given a raise and more days off ASAP so that they can come visit me in California some day (:
Some critiques: I wish that we were put in sleeper trains WITH A/C on our way to Khao Sok National Park and would have preferred another hostel over the TruTravel-owned Echo Beach Backpackers Hostel in Ko Phangan to be honest. Also, two 1 hour sessions at Surf House Phuket was not enough, especially since we were in a large group. I think a lot of the people in my group were more bothered by the fact that we were split very unevenly between the two sessions for some reason... You could tell TruTravels tries to cut their costs in these areas, but the overall positive experience of the trip outweighed these minor downsides.

Most places required a fair bit of travel whether it be an overnight ferry, sleeper train, busses, trucks, taxi's or small boats. A lot of this would have been difficult and complicated to organise on our own, but was made easy thanks to the tour and it's amazing tour guides. We were lucky enough to have Patrick as our tour guide, who was always bursting with energy and optimism. He was always ready to help and go out of his way to make everything easier for us. He also is the life of the party and will light up any room with his infectious smile. We also had Woody as a trainee tour guide, who never failed to put a smile on our faces. He was constantly in a good mood and had jokes to share with us everyday. Jonjo was an amazing photographer during the trip, and as well as providing great digital memories of our tour, he also never failed to keep up with the banter.
This tour is one that I greatly enjoyed, and I will definitely be doing more Trutravels tours in the very near future. We had a great team, made friends for life, photos that speak more than a 1000 words and memories of places that one can never forget. My only regret is that it didn't last longer.

He was such a great leader, always around, always looking for ways to help people. His organisation was excellent and if anyone ever had a problem he'd be the first one there and have it sorted immediately. Not only was he awesome as a tour guide by day, showing us the best sights and providing us with useful but not overly extensive and boring history, but he was an absolutely legend by night, outstaying all of us most nights, showing us to the coolest places, attending to our budgeting needs and above all being fresh faced and always smiling the morning after when the whole squad were struggling! Even after the tour was over he was keen to show us a good time by organising a trip for a group of us to the weekend market and was very helpful with everyone's onward travel. What a legend!!

Dan was only there for the first 8 days but I really appreciated his fun spirit yet reliability. My girlfriend and i were kindly picked up from Bangkok airport, arranged by Izzy and Patrick, where we joined the tour and were very welcomely greeted.
Throughout the tour we were looked after, offered anything and everything! When it rained, making a boating activity difficult, Patrick and Izzy quickly arranged other activities which were so fun!
From almost the start i could tell i was going to keep in contact with the two amazing guides and would love to meet them in the UK one day, if not on more travel tours!
It gave me great pleasure to eat, drink, laugh, experience and learn with these guys and i will 100% be recommending Tru travels to everyone, especially these two legends!

Izi is a genuine, lovely guy and I would say he deffintly acted as a friend to. He always took care of me, even when wanting to leave night outs early. He would accompany me to find a taxi safe. Would love to have both izi and Patrick again when using this company. Even when days when cancalled due to weather they both ensured we had something to do or somewhere to go!
They have made me want to explore more of Thailand in the future and not be afraid to travel.

I wouldn't change anything about the trip, we stayed in such unique accommodations like the night in floating bungalows at Khao Sok and the beach huts on bottle beach. We experienced so many things, and did so many activities, you'll never be bored. It was incredible and I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants to visit Thailand :)

I recently went on the 18 day island hopper tour with Patrick, The tour was great, meet some amazing people and saw some incredible places but the only down side would be there was a lot of unnecessary waiting around for taxis and at ports and for dinners. The group was a good size to start with around 20 people but when they joined us with another group for the last week or so the group became to big (31) so everything took twice as long! Patrick knew his stuff and really helped with the onwards travel aswell for example me and my friend were staying on after the tour and moving to another island Patrick arranged someone to pick us up from our hostel and take us to the port where we paid 300 baht less for the ferry than what the original price was! If you love to party but also want to travel around this tour is great for that! Overall I would recommend this tour to anyone who is wanting to travel Thailand alone or in a pair. You never feel alone or home sick because you are always busy and always around people and the tour guides are always there for extra help! Thanks Patrick and TruTravels for making my experience in Thailand incredible!

Had the best time and experiences of my life, didn't want it to end, my tour mates were amazing and everyone clicked instantly, we went to so many places and had so much fun everyday, my tour reps Patrick and Mark were amazing! Introduced us to some crazy fun filled stuff, don't know how they operated on 4hours sleep a night! They always checked on us and kept us going when we were dead from the night before. Would definitely use trutravels again.

The accommodation we stayed in was much nicer than I expected, and the transportation between islands was well organised with minimal hassle. The itinerary was great and I felt we had sufficient time in each place to experience what the island had to offer. The balance between actives and free time was perfect and the nightlife in each place was brilliant thanks to Patricks local knowledge.
Both Patrick and Mark were great tour guides, extremely helpful, friendly and easy to get on with. They brought the group together and adapted to the different tastes and personalities within our group of 24. I felt safe knowing I had them both as the tour guides, and have definitely made good friends with them both!
Would 100% recommend this tour, especially with Patrick and Mark to anyone I know!

We stayed in mostly nice accommodation and saw some of the most beautiful beaches and natural spots of Thailand. It's a backpackers tour so the accommodation is not five star but it's still really nice compared to other hostels I've been too. Some of the accommodation including the floating bungalows and beach bungalows were an amazing experience and one you might not otherwise get to do.
Tour Highlights included Bottle Beach (waking up for a morning swim was pure paradise), the stunning surrounds of Khao Sok, the shopping, snorkeling and great food of Koh Tao, the night ferry to Railay Beach and indoor surfing in Phuket.
The guides were really energetic and fun and the whole tour group became a really good group of friends.
In terms of improvements they could make:
- There were some days where we didn't stop or have time for lunch so it helped if I had a big breakfast before the day's activity. I think they should have told the group this before we went out so people knew to eat before the activity or bring food with them.
- There is also a lot of drinking and partying on this tour every day. I didn't feel like joining in a lot of the time on this trip as I wanted to enjoy the nature and activities in Thailand. It wasn't much of an issue for me though because I could just join in or not as I saw fit. An issue I did have is that the guides often encouraged drinking from morning until night in the heat and I had to look after a few of the girls on multiple occasions who were pretty ill because of this. I know we are all adults who can make our own decisions but I do think that behaviour was fairly irresponsible as a lot of the girls were 18-22 so they didn't necessarily know their limits when it came to drinking and saw our guides as role models. It's just a bad combo in 35 degree sunny heat each day!
Anyway despite those areas of improvements I still had an amazing time and would definitely recommend this tour to others! It's jam packed with stuff to do all the time but there's free time to chill as well. We saw so much in just 18 days so it was definitely value for money, yet the friendships we made and crazy experiences (we might not write home about!) are priceless :D
Doing this was the best thing I done, met the most amazing people, which made this trip good. And the tour guides patrick and mark also made the tour very good and no hassle for us.

The guide was great but I don't think the tour provides value for money. The itinerary mentions the jungle party, this isn't included 1000 baht. Also the first night going to night markets for dinner you have to pay 150 baht per person for taxi, Koh Phangan has an awful taxi mafias but again thought these sort of things would be included. Hotel isn't the hotel pictured, it is actually the one next door. On the island day tour it also has some slip and flip slide as included but is now closed. I had a good time but would struggle to recommend the tour, you could have just as much fun for a lot cheaper doing it yourself.

And I decided to use them for this trip. I didn’t regret it at all. From the Moment I arrived till the moment I left, we were looked after well by our guide, Patrick. Patrick has nothing but the best personality ever! He’s always cheery and happy. Always smiling and always made sure that we didn’t miss anything out. Patrick made sure that there would be no man last standing as he was always the first up and always the last to call it a night. Which made us feel very secure and felt safe of him being around.
So I done the 8day tour back in June fell in love with Thailand that much when I got home booked the 18day tour. Best decision I've ever made, best 18 days of my life. Best decision I've ever made, best 18 days of my life. You see so much beautiful different places, Every island is just breathtaking. I was lucky to get Patrick a 2nd time as my guide. Just loved this dude! seeing his big smile just made my day. Always there to help everyone with anything they needed. A few of us got sick and he was there right away with meds etc. Every night Patrick took us to some of the best places for food&drinks. Accommodation was excellent couldn't fault it at all for the price you pay and after all backpacking isn't meant to be luxury. All thanks to turetravels I have amazing memories I'll cherish for a lifetime.

The weather wasn't doing any us favours for the second half of the trip - but it's a credit to our tour guides that we all had too much fun to notice anyway.
