I can’t recommend this tour enough. The entire trip was phenomenal and at times I was lost for words with the experiences we had. The entire trip was phenomenal and at times I was lost for words with the experiences we had. The trip was the perfect mix of history, culture, safaris, stunning landscapes, city tours and meeting some beautiful locals and communities. The tour really gave you an idea of life in South Africa and the history and past of what makes it so special. It made me realise there is so much more than just safaris and beautiful animals that make South Africa special. Some of my favourite activities were staying at Hlane National part in Eswatini, visiting the local crèche in Zululand, the informal settlements in Soweto and witnessing some of the most incredible animal encounters.
We were extra lucky to have the best guides, Dan and Chris who really made the tour. They were fantastic at answering all questions, brining the vibes, looking after us everywhere we went and also helped with booking extra travel in Cape Town after.
I was also a solo traveler and a little nervous coming here on my own but it all went smoothly and I met some amazing people that truly made the tour. Security and safety was also really important and my guides Dan and Chris always looked after us and I always felt safe.
If you’re considering this tour, I say DO IT! You won’t regret it.

He was helping us o…I booked this trip for my 26th and honestly, it was one of the best things I’ve ever done. From the moment I signed up, I was buzzing and our group leader Dan made it even better. He was helping us out even before we landed in Japan! Proper organised, chilled, and full of good vibes, Dan kept everything running smooth and stress-free, while still making it loads of fun.
He even went the extra mile to help me plan my extra days so I could squeeze every bit out of my time there.
The hostels were super clean and cosy, and yeah, rooms are small, but that’s Japan and I loved it. Every place we visited was brilliant, but if I had to pick favourites, Nagano and Koyasan definitely stole my heart. Koyasan was full of culture – we stayed in a Buddhist temple, did meditation, saw fire ceremonies, just unreal. Nagano was pure peace, with beautiful scenery and those amazing 9 onsens!
Dan really went above and beyond to make sure we all had the best time. We were lucky enough to catch all the good stuff – Mount Fuji, the snow monkeys, even dodged the worst of the weather and crowds thanks to Dan’s planning. And he’s top notch with the camera too, some of the best pics I’ve got are thanks to him. I’ve already put a deposit down for another trip!
Honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a better guide or a better birthday. Massive thanks to Dan for making it so special,– you’re a diamond mate!

The trip itself was exceptionally designed to balance both the organised chaos of the mega city, to the relaxing countrysides - with activities included throughout.
Stays within both Negano and Koyasan were particularly special, providing an authentically traditional experience.
There is no fault with the Japan tour from Intro, and it has far exceeded prior experiences with other tour providers.

I had a lot of fun meeting new people from all over the world. Getting to know them for about two weeks while also experiencing the same cultural experience that we wanted was a blast!

This is my 4rh trip with intro travel. Dan Woodward is my best group leader thus far! Bali, Thailand, Phillipines, and Japan were all amazing. Can't wait for the next one!

The group was great and the activities were amazing. I really felt I got as much out of this trip as I could and Dan was a big part of that. He was knowledgeable and clearly went out of his way to make this the best trip it could be. Can’t wait to do it again soon!

A huge shoutout to our group leader, Dan, who truly went above and beyond every single day. His energy was infectious — always super enthusiastic, friendly, and genuinely passionate about showing us the best of Japan. From navigating local food spots to sharing cool cultural insights, he was a wealth of knowledge and made the trip feel extra special.
This trip is the perfect way to explore Japan, especially if it’s your first time. It strikes a great balance between iconic must-sees and authentic local experiences, and the group vibe was so much fun thanks to the awesome people and Dan’s leadership. Can’t recommend it enough!
This trip was amazing! As someone who is in love with Japan and its culture I was extremely excited for this trip and can happily say it didn’t disappoint! Obviously you can’t even scratch the surface…This trip was amazing! Obviously you can’t even scratch the surface of what Japan has to offer in 13 days, but what is covered in the 13 days is incredible! We got to experience the busy, otherworldly side of Tokyo and then a few days later go to the snowy mountains of Koyasan in a 1000 year old temple. Obviously a bit relies on the group you get put with, but I can say that I got extremely lucky with my group in how everyone glued together straight away and enhanced the experience more then I could imagine. On top of that a lot of the success of the groups comes down to the leaders, which I once again seemed to strike luck with. My leader Dan was the full package! I can’t imagine the stress that leaders go through to make everything work with looking after groups of 16 in a foreign city🫣. But Dan managed to look after all of us, get us from A to B with as little stress as possible whilst catering for everyone’s needs along the way which isn’t an easy task at all. On top of this my birthday was on a day of the trip and I can say that it was celebrated in style🥳. I’m not sure if all leaders do this but Dan went out his way to see it was my birthday (without me saying a word) and made it known throughout the group which made the day extremely special and even got me a little cake 🍰. To go even further he takes time out of his free time to take us to extra places he knows about like extra temples in the area or even one night took us all bowling. Even if these are small acts, to us who are so excited to see all these places offer, these gestures mean a lot. I couldn’t recommend this trip or Dan as a leader any more!
such a good tour, i recommend this to anybody who is even slightly interested in japan. itinerary is amazing and you get to see so much in a short amount of time!

Very informative, friendly, fun, and on top of absolutely everything. If you want to go on a trip and have everything planned and figured out for you Intro Travels and tour guide Dan is where it’s at.

I also have to pay a huge compliment to Dan, our group leader, and Sam, our local guide. They are both incredibly great people and were always there for us whenever we needed them. What's more, they were always in a good mood and you could laugh a lot with them.
The organisation before, during and after the trip was also great, you never felt left alone at any time and always felt informed about everything.
This was one of the best trips I have ever been on and I will definitely be travelling with Intro Travel again.
Thank you so much for this wonderful experience and I'm already looking forward to the next time!

The Intro South Africa Tour was incredible. It was perfectly planned, you truly do get a real sense of the country and what life is like for many in the country, if you’re lucky you’ll also get to see…The Intro South Africa Tour was incredible. It was perfectly planned, you truly do get a real sense of the country and what life is like for many in the country, if you’re lucky you’ll also get to see animals you’ve seen on television (which I did )!! Our Group Leader (Dan) and Tour Guide (Chris) have such an incredible depth of knowledge and love for the country it makes it impossible to not fall in love with South Africa. They also made sure we felt safe and comfortable the entire time which definitely added to the experience.
I’ve never done a group tour before and wasn’t sure if I would enjoy it. I enjoyed it so much I bought passes for two more trips!
