The balance between seeing the important landmarks and taking part in unique memorable experiences like the Samurai school and monastery stay makes this tour special. A big shoutout to our tour leader Caro who made everyone feel at ease immediately. We didn’t have to worry about a thing. I would recommend this tour and travelling with Intro after doing a couple of their tours in a heartbeat.

The trip combined seeing the popular sights with more niche activities including fire ceremonies at the temple and samurai experiences. For the tour I was given Caro as my local tour guide leader and she was fantastic. As someone with food allergies she took the time to help me at every restaurant with conversing to the staff in ensuring my food was safe, in which it was throughout. Caro was extremely knowledgeable of Japan and shared this throughout my stay, which enriched the tour further, and made it very engaging. As a leader she is a very calming person to be around and makes you feel comfortable at every opportunity, whilst also ensuring that you are pushed out of your comfort zone so you have fun!!! Overall, it was an amazing trip that I would highly recommend and would partake in any future trips that Caro leads in a heartbeat.

Her warmth, knowledge, enthusiasm, and humor made every tour stop even more memorable, and we truly felt like we were seeing Japan through the eyes of a local.
Not only did Caro make sure the group felt connected and comfortable, which we did within days, but she also provided fantastic recommendations for things to do during our free time, both within the group and after the tour had ended. Her insight into the culture, history, food (of course), and hidden gems of Japan added so much depth to the experience.
We couldn’t have asked for a better guide or a better group. Caro made us feel like we were part of something truly special, and we’re so grateful for everything she did to make our trip a once-in-a-lifetime experience and the best honeymoon we could have wanted.

Carolyn showed us some really cool spots—some well-known, some hidden gems—and she always had awesome ideas for photo ops. She’s super creative and definitely knows how to capture the moment!
She’s also really knowledgeable about Japan and shared tons of interesting info in a fun, engaging way. It never felt like a lecture—just really cool facts and insights that made the places we visited even more special.

Caro has been easily the most incredible guide I've had the pleasure of following, and one of the most personable and approachable people I've ever met. There was not a local on the entire tour that was not transparently excited to see Caro, every time, and I think that sums them up perfectly.
Their passion for the places, animals, and activities on the tour is so authentic and infectious; I had never, and will never again, be quite so excited for a beach cleanup as I was with Caro. Nor will I ever have as much fun viewing a temple in torrential downpour. I can't credit them enough for the amazing time I've had on this tour, and all the time I've laughed till my tummy hurts. (Bali intro, 12 day)
The knowledge Caro has, and has passed on, of the local area, people, traditions, food and customs is outstanding. I feel so much more well-travelled and learned with them as our guide, and empowered to go on solo. They showed us around like a local (literally, in some cases; those ferry loos were not for the weak), and the experience with them was so special. (Not the ferry loos though, I'd pass on them next time)
Also, I cannot understate the usefulness of having a photographer as our tour guide - I have my life's worth of profile pictures now, and I was so grateful for the fact I could enjoy every moment and not think about recording it, because Caro was our personal little documenter.
I was struck by Caro's sensitivity and empathy; any and all concerns were addressed rapidly, with compassion and precision. I never felt as though there was anything I would be uncomfortable to share with them, or anything they wouldn't be able to help with. Maybe the most level-headed in a non-monkey related crisis person I've ever met (she didn't even scream that loudly when confronted with a rouge monkey on her shoulder, which is impressive in itself.) As an anxious girlie, I've never met someone so willing to sit patiently with me through multiple panic attacks, with reassurence, cuddles and kindness that reduced me to tears every time. Every emotion was validated and understood. There was no judgement from their end the whole trip, even when I had to admit to losing half my underwear leaving it outside to "dry" in a storm.
Caro's genuine care for the people she guides shines through, and it's something I've been so grateful for. Their inclusivity meant there was never a person left behind, nor left out, nor uncomfortable at any time. Thank you Caro, for such a wonderful trip 💕

She went above and beyond even when she wasn't feeling 100% herself. What's included, meals, activities is really good value for money we had some incredible experience! The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is personally I would switch the Canggu and Lovina itinerary around slightly to spend more time in Canggu but other than that really can't fault the pace and places visited.

Our group leader Caro really made the experience though. She is so talented at what she does and made every moment perfect. We were so well informed about everything we were doing and everywhere we were going. She had genuine personal connections with all the locals that we encountered and had so much knowledge of the local areas, which meant we got truly immersed culturally and got to know the locals and their ways of life. She really couldn't have done anything more for us and I felt so safe in her hands.
The activities were also amazing. I had a great time at every activity, even the ones that I wasn't particularly excited about. I was pleasantly surprised by all of them and it has made me rethink the types of activities I might do on future holidays.
I will definitely travel with Intro again and genuinely couldn't recommend them more. Thanks for everything!

The locals they partner with speak very highly of them as a company which is great.
Carolyn, my tour guide was the highlight of the whole trip. She is truly a credit to intro. She went above and beyond to make sure that every person had a good time, felt safe and secure and got what they needed out of the trip. Her personality is bubbly and infectious, and she did not have a single off day which was amazing to me. She made you feel emotionally supported as well as being amazing at all the logistical aspects of the trip. She also had great cultural knowledge, and would find an answer to any question you had. I would solely pick my next trip based on where Carolyn is guiding as she is that good.
Overall, I had a great experience through intro and would not use a different company to travel with!

The accommodation was basic but fine, as expected. Loved the amount of included activities! I’ve done tours where they immediately sell you $300 of activities, but this tour included everything you needed for a busy day. Overall I felt like I definitely got the tour I expected and had an awesome time with this group of people! <3

We had an amazing group of people from all over the world and a variety of ages. I was amazed at how quickly it felt like i had been friends with everyone in the group for a very long time and I will definitely see some of them again!
Bali is an amazing place and just has so much to offer. The beaches and ocean are great, really nice pools everywhere and no end to cool little shops and exciting bars.
All of the activities offered were so great and a lot of fun. Traffic is a little crazy in Bali though so be prepared to spend a bit of time getting around but all that time just gives you more time to get to know your new friends.
The surfing was one of my favorite activities and they are so good at helping everyone out and making sure everyone has a fun time. We got to see a lot of dolphins! I went diving for my first time on Gili T and it was the most amazing experience. The night life is great everywhere and we had a few great nights out together.
The Villa that you stay at in Lovina was so amazing and I wish we had more time there.
Our group leader was Caro West and I couldn't say enough good about how great she was, if there is anything that you ever need she will be right there to help! She did everything to make sure we were all having a great time and reality made the trip even better. I had a birthday on the trip and Caro helped make it my best birthday yet!!
If you are thinking about it you just need to do it, you won't regret it!!

Carolyn, our tour guide made sure that all of my questions were answered. She truly made the trip special.
She’s full of expert knowledge and has the warmest and kindest personality. I felt like I had a lifelong best friend giving me tips and listening to my stories.
I didn’t know what to expect when I first got to the hostel in Tokyo. But by the end of the trip, I made a bunch of new friends. ❤️

The experiences offered were varied and a lot of fun especially the kendo class which was especially enjoyable. The accommodation, whilst mostly hostels, were clean, quiet, and comfortable. The temple stays were very unique and offered a great addition to the tour. The various food offerings were amazing and were well planned. However, the breakfast offerings for the mornings where it was included could be more varied rather than simple pastries.
Carolyn was fantastic, energetic, and full of information. She was always willing to go out of her way to find us places to eat, provide us with answers to questions, or options of things to do during downtime. She was very good at keeping us on time and made the whole trip very relaxing despite a lot of travel. She was an exceptional tour guide and I’d highly recommend her to anyone.
Sarah was superb, knowledgeable, and always willing to help out during the extension. She was always trying to accommodate everyone when it came to preferences with activities and food. She was full of knowledge regarding the sights we saw and always able to answer questions. Sarah made sure all of our travel went smoothly and was very good at guiding the group. Overall I’d highly recommend a tour with Sarah for anyone wanting a well run and fun tour full of information.

One word: Incredible! Hands down the best country I’ve been too, and a fantastic trip/ tour company to see this beautiful, engaging land with too. Big shout out to our two tour guides over the 14 days…One word: Incredible! Hands down the best country I’ve been too, and a fantastic trip/ tour company to see this beautiful, engaging land with too. Big shout out to our two tour guides over the 14 days– Caro for the first 10 days, whose energy, and expertise of Japan really made those long days fly by, and to Sarah, whose professionalism and excellent timekeeping kept us kids moving and really making the most of our time! If you are looking to do this trip, I would obviously 100% recommend it, however some tips before you go; firstly, the physical side of the trip is BRUTAL. I averaged 22k steps a day and despite how prepared physically I thought I was, my feet were in agony by the end. Seriously, invest in the best possible footwear you can, make sure you have plenty of plasters/blister pads and try to get some cardio in your legs before you go! Secondly, I would personally recommend you book some more time in Tokyo before/after your trip. Although we ticked off a lot of the good stuff in the first few days of the itinerary, Tokyo is a massive city and well worth spending more time in, especially once you have the gist of the area and how to get around. I spent 4 days extra post-trip doing Disneyland, Mario Kart, shopping, and exploring some of the areas I enjoyed the most and it was well worth it. Lastly – try EVERYTHING. Japan is a wild country and there is so much variety in their food and drink, you won’t like all of it, but I guarantee you’ll find something magical you’ve never experienced before (two words for you: puffer fish). Please don’t hesitate to book and with any luck you’ll get one of the two AWESOME guides I had!

However, I do not give 5 stars for two main reasons. First of all, the program was too busy in my opinion, at the end of the trip everybody was exhausted by a lack of sleep in combination with the amount of walking we did every day. I would prefer a bit slower program, so everybody gets sufficient sleep but also has time to, for example, enjoy a cup of coffee at a nice view point instead of rushing on to the next program part. Second, compared to other group tours I did in the past (with different companies), it was a great miss for me to not have a local guide. This was something I knew before booking but I would not choose in the future anymore. I prefer a local guide as they can tell you more about their own country, explain the culture and answer questions. Especially in Japan, where it is not so easy to connect to the locals due to the language barrier, I would loved to be able to ask many more questions to understand this interesting culture a bit more.

This is an extremely fast-paced tour, so you'll see everything, but for a short amount of time. Do not underestimate the walking, make sure you bring comfy, suitable footwear, blister patches, tape, and a good attitude ;)

It was the perfect mix of sightseeing, activities and nightlife. We had Caro for the first half of the tour and Mike for the second half - Caro was awesome, super fun and really brought the group together in the beginning, Mike was a legend particularly on the extension and his passion for Japan and its history and culture really shone through (also will take fire Instagram pics for you)! Cannot recommend this tour enough particularly if it's your first time visiting Japan as it gives you a good taster of everything, and you will be super lucky to have either of these guides :)

She has the perfect vibe to make a bunch of strangers feel like close friends. Once we reached Osaka, Sarah took over and fit into the group with ease. Thanks to them both, we’re already looking forward to our next One Life tour!

The itinerary is packed with lots of amazing experiences. My highlights were the sushi making class and kendo class.
The group was amazing and very friendly. I would highly suggest this tour if you want to experience a new culture comfortably and don’t mind walking a lot. Thank you One Life!

Great experience! This tour is jam packed so make sure you’re cool with walking a lot of steps. Most food is self funded, sleeping is often in close proximity so take note of that when booking.

I was on the May 12th 10 Day tour and loved every second of it. The tour is very intense *LOTS OF WALKING 20k+ steps a day* but everyone was prepared and happily getting along. The tour feels a bit more like an 8 day tour the 1st day being meeting in the evening and the last day being departing but you fit a lot in during this period. Accommodations are good throughout the tour. I really recommend!

Great tour! Very nice tour guide (Carolyn) and fun visits. Only thing is not very suited for vegetarians/vegans so be sure to be ok with separating from the group to find your own food when needed! Our next tour guide was Mike Mazurkiewicz. I admire his knowledge of the history of Japan. Very interesting and a a great addition to the tour. He gave us lots op tips to do and even ‘guided’ us during free time, for example with a spontaneous hike to see sunset. He also took a lot of photos with his camera and shared these with us, so I will never forget this trip!

I could not fault the recommendations for places to visit given by either of the guides, Caro and Mike (there is a guide handover for people doing the 14 days vs 10). Overall I had a great time and would recommend this group for people in mid to late 20's and early 30's, simply due to the amount of ground we covered and how exhausted I was towards the end. Unfortunately I felt that the size of the group was too large for buses even without luggage, restaurants we wanted to visit, and the walking tour in Kyoto was simply inaccessible to anyone at the back of the group due to the size of the streets, and would have found the experience more enjoyable if the group was reduced to 18 or even 16. We had trouble fitting into buses with only 10 people on the extension in Koya-san. That being said, it was a great tour and I would absolutely recommend the 14 days over the 10 days just because of how special and interesting the extra locations are, though I would encourage people to land in Tokyo a little bit earlier or stay a little later to explore on your own.

It would have been better if the tour include at least 1 sit down restaurant a day. Because we spent a lot of time eating at 7-Elevens and family marks. And on your free time because it was cherry blossom season everything either had a reservation or a very long wait. So you had no choice but to go back to the lawson or 7-Eleven to grab something to eat. Otherwise it was the best trip of my life. Thank you TourRadar!

Wide variety of destinations, featuring key points of interest both modern and traditional, urban and suburban. Resting accommodations generally solid and varied (the temple stay we did being one of my personal favorites). Varied group activities from kendo to karaoke keeps the energy going.

A few of us on the tour thought the weather would be a lot warmer than it was. The hostel in Tokyo was also dirty and the WiFi did not work well.

My favorite part of the tour was going to Shibuya crossing. It was like being in Times Square in New York City it was the biggest highlight for me.
This was such a fun tour! It is a fast paced tour, but with a lot of free time. Expect to walk a lot. Our tour guide Caro was wonderful! I had a little issue and she was quick to help. The only caveat was that I wished the itinerary was updated earlier. It still had things posted from pre pandemic that weren’t opened anymore, or just taken out in general. We waited three years for Japan to open again, and we’re slightly disappointed that there wasn’t any update until right before the trip. Also, they took away half the food included. It’s still more than most other tours, but definitely something to take note of if that’s important to you budgeting wise.
Overall, I would recommend this tour for others. It’s an amazing experience to visit Japan and I will 100% be going back again.

Every day of the tour had great activities. I suppose the highlights for me would be the activities I would not have thought to do or would not have been able to do on a typical vacation such as the kendo class or the sushi making class.
We also were incredibly fortunate to have a wonderful tour group. I was initially fearful of traveling with a group of strangers but that ended up being no issue at all.

I really enjoyed the scheduled activities that were hosted by a local expert such as our sushi-making lesson, tea ceremony, and kendo class. These activities weren't things I would have thought to book if I was traveling on my own!

Sushi class, day 9 all of it, kendo workshop, Carolyn (she facilitated the best time and managed the group dynamics and needs in the most comfortable of ways.) These were all top notch experiences. Wish it would have included more meals and less convenience store food. Though we all love a 7/11 run, it would have been nice to have a few more moments to pause and enjoy a meal together.

Highlights for me personally were a lot of the markets both shops and food. The sushi class was a lot of fun to do and the kendo class was extremely cool with an interesting history of Japan and its Samurai. But everything had its own amazing moments.
Overall, this trip was an amazing experience. Japan was incredible and I will definitely go back one day. 1. First of all the itinerary was a bit misleading. When it said breakfast was included at the first hotel, the breakfast was literally just toast or chicken broth. I wouldn’t consider that an included meal.
2. Also, there were a few optional activities that we did not even get to do, either because the itinerary was changed without letting anyone know, or because our tour guide was too busy “working”. The guided meditation that was supposed to be included in the tour, our tour guide didn’t even know about and we did not get to do. In fact, when we stayed at the temple, we had the option to do a guided meditation which I did. I had to pay ¥3000 to do it though, and we didn’t even get to do the meditation that was supposed to be included in the price. The lack of communication between the tour company itself, our tour guide, and everyone who signed up for the tour was not the best. The whole trip seemed very rushed, with very little time at certain places to really see everything we wanted to. The fact that our tour guide told us she had too much work to do to take us to certain places that were listed as optional really aggravated me and seemed very unprofessional. She was very nice and I did like her, but it got a little ridiculous. There was one vegetarian in our group, and it didn’t seem that the guy had made any effort to have any meals provided to her that she could eat. The sake tasting was literally all of us standing in the middle of the street, drinking two types of sake, and it took about five minutes. It would be nice if the tour company would refund all of the group at least a little bit for the things we were promised we’d get to do but never did.
While there were some negatives, I absolutely loved the trip as a whole. Everywhere we went, was absolutely beautiful, and I had an amazing time visiting Japan, with a great group of people.

Seeing the sights of Japan, with an amazing group of people. Having a great tour guide like Carolyn makes the trip so much more enjoyable!! The pace of the tour was pretty good, with lots of free time to go exploring yourself. The things I would change is adding in another day in Osaka, heading to Nara and seeing the Osaka castle.

We had to buy more for every meal that was included, especially the breakfast meals, which was just a piece of toast bread.
However, I really enjoyed this trip and I loved our guide, she was so good at explaining everything and I felt very safe with her :)
