- 3-Day The North Coast 500 Small-Group Tour from Inverness
What an amazing trip! The NC500 was amazing. Each day we had a very different landscape to appreciate. Lots of stops and things to see meant we weren’t on the road alll day. Helen was a genius guide. I appreciated so much that after many years of guiding that she was still so in love with Scotland. Having a driver meant I could truly enjoy myself because those roads are no joke, especially for someone who’s not used to driving on the other side of the road. Already planning next trip to Orkney and Shetland. Only caution - bring repellent for the midges!
- 3 Days Golden Circle, South Coast and Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon (Group Tour)
Marina Travel 3 day tour wasn't my first choice, but had to book quickly after Arctic Adventures canceled on me 2 weeks before the trip that I had booked months ago. I am very happy how responsive Marina Travel team was, the booking and the communication was great. Everything was well organized, and despite the heavy rain that followed us, we had fun! Very nice experience, I will highly recommend.
What our customers ask about 3 Day Coach / Bus Tours & Trips
When is the best time to take a 3-day bus tour?
For Scotland and Ireland tours, summer (June through August) brings ideal weather around 60-70°F (15-21°C) and lots of daylight for exploring. If you're heading to New Zealand, plan for December to February when temperatures are a pleasant 68-77°F (20-25°C). Want to skip the crowds and save money? Try April-May or September-October - you'll still get good breathing room at popular spots like the Cliffs of Moher or Hobbiton.
How should I prepare for changing weather?
Think layers and bring a good rain jacket. In Scotland, especially along the North Coast 500, the weather likes to keep you guessing. Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way usually stays between 50-65°F (10-18°C), but rain showers pop up regularly. One of our travelers put it well: "Bring waterproof gear and warm layers even in summer - we experienced all four seasons in one day while touring the Isle of Skye, staying at places like the Seaview Heights guesthouse."
What kind of places will I stay at?
You'll spend your two nights in comfortable 3-4 star hotels, guesthouses, or B&Bs. Places like the Western Hotel in Galway, Seaview Heights in Dingle, and Ennislare House in Bangor are typical examples. Your room will have its own bathroom, and breakfast is included. One of our travelers noted about their Rotorua stay: "The hotel was centrally located with comfortable rooms, though some properties like the Copthorne Hotel could use updating in certain areas."
What does a typical day look like?
Most days start around 7:30 or 8:00 AM and wrap up between 6:00 and 7:00 PM. Take the Wild Ireland Express tour - you'll visit two or three main spots each day, like the Cliffs of Moher and Killarney National Park, with breaks for lunch and photos. One of our travelers said: "The pacing was perfect - we had enough time at each stop to really explore without feeling rushed."
What can I expect on the bus?
The buses are modern and comfortable, with good air conditioning and big windows for sightseeing. In Ireland, you'll ride in Mercedes mini-coaches with good sound systems. New Zealand tours use similar buses with commentary systems. Most have USB charging spots and Wi-Fi - like the ones Rabbie's Tours uses in Scotland. This makes longer rides between places like Auckland to Rotorua or Dublin to Galway much more pleasant.
How many people will be on my tour?
Most tours keep it cozy with 16 to 30 people. In Scotland, tours like the North Coast 500 use 16-seat Mercedes mini-coaches, and Ireland tours stick to similar-sized vehicles. Hotels like the Copthorne in Rotorua and Western Hotel in Galway are used to hosting these group sizes. As one traveler told us: "The small group size made the experience more personal and enjoyable."
