10 Days in Northern Pakistan, incl. Hunza Valley and Skardu
A grand 10-day Pakistani tour winds through 5 major cities, from Islamabad's urban charm to Gilgit's mountain scenery. The route encompasses 3 distinct regions: Hunza Valley's ancient forts, Skardu's desert landscape, and Karakoram Highway's dramatic vistas.

- Day 1
Islamabad Arrival & Orientation
- Days 2-3
Skardu & Shigar Valley
Book the first flight to Skardu (2 hours) since mountain weather often affects afternoon flights. Explore the Shigar Fort area to experience Balti culture and visit the stunning Sarfaranga Cold Desert. As one traveler shared: "The contrast between snow-capped peaks and desert dunes in Skardu is mind-blowing. Bring layers - desert temperatures drop dramatically after sunset."

- Days 4-5
Central Hunza Valley
The drive from Skardu to Hunza takes 5-6 hours along the spectacular Karakoram Highway. Stay in Karimabad to easily access historical sites. Get to Baltit Fort early before the tour buses arrive. Take in sunset at the Duikar viewpoint for incredible valley views but book a local driver who knows the rough road conditions.

- Days 6-7
Upper Hunza & Khunjerab Pass
Start early for the Khunjerab Pass trip. It is the world's highest border crossing but snow can block access from November to March. Stop at the beautiful Attabad Lake created by a 2010 landslide. A recent visitor noted: "The Hussaini Suspension Bridge looks scary in photos but has actually been reinforced. Still only cross if you're comfortable with heights."

- Day 8
Naltar Valley
- Days 9-10
Return to Islamabad

- Days 3-4

"Watching the sunset at Reflection Lake was humbling - bring warm layers as temperatures drop significantly after dark."

What people love about 10-day Pakistan tours
- Hunza Valley and Nanga Parbat Base Camp Trek 2026 and 2027
This is the first time to visit Pakistan, I am so glad that I choose EXPLORIA to arrange the north Pakistan tour. In these ten days, I really into the gorgeous landscape and the people in Pakistan. I chose Exploria for my 2 week tour of Lahore, Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan based on online reviews and Arif’s responsiveness and can-do attitude in planning my trip. The success on the ground of any trip like this really depends on the availability of support from the company during the tour, the standard of accomodation and the quality of the guides. It proved to be a very enjoyable and I have some fantastic memories, so thank you to the Exploria team. Fareed, my guide in Gilgit-Baltistan was very good - he’s a local, has been doing this for years and has friends and contacts everywhere. He was flexible, patient and knowledgeable, with excellent English. The mountains are stunning, especially during blossom season, and I strongly recommend both him and this area. My guides for my initial 3 days in Lahore and Islamabad were less good - not knowledgeable about the sites visited, or at least unable to communicate what they did know due to lack of fluent English. My first guide was also late meeting me at the Wagah border. The hotels were all clean and comfortable. Exploria were in regular contact with myself and the guides throughout the tour. They established a WhatsApp group so that they were on call for any issues that did arise, such as arranging last-minute car transport following the cancellation of my Gilgit-Islamabad flight. With the benefit of hindsight, I have a few suggestions for anyone planning to go this area in March-April. Firstly, although the blossom is beautiful and it was very uncrowded, it is very early in the season in the mountains - not all facilities are open and many hiking trails may be inaccessible due to snow. Secondly, think very carefully about including flights to or from Gilgit - the cancellation rate due to bad weather is high and the alternative road-trip to Islamabad (nearly 15 hours in my case), on frequently awful roads, is not fun. Thirdly, I was in Lahore/Islamabad during Ramadan, and although there was no restriction on me eating or drinking, it was hot and by mid-afternoon energy levels amongst those who were fasting understandably dropped; their focus was on sunset and the breaking of the fast. Finally, don’t apply for a Pakistan e-visa too early - a 90 day visa expires 90 days after it is issued, regardless of your travel dates; also, keep a hard copy handy at all times as it is checked frequently.
- Hunza Valley & Fairy Meadows Tour, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan
In June of this year, along with five other friends, I joined the tour “Pakistan Panorama” knowing I would have a rare look into a region few of us are fortunate enough to explore. But nothing prepared me for the majesty of the scenery, the challenge of driving precipitous mountain roads in the Hunza Valley and, above all, the warm hospitality of the people. Our tour was small and personal. Our local driver-guides made us feel like family friends, not travellers from Australia. Through them we learned about their country on a personal level and through them were prvileged to visit the homes of local mountain families - an experience never to be forgotten. North-Eastern Pakistan is awe-inspiring in its scenery, complex in its history, warm and colourful in its people. Our two weeks there were magic.
