14 Days in Indonesia, incl. Jakarta and Bali
A diverse 14-day route spans 6 cities, from Jakarta to Sanur. Highlights include Bandung's tea plantations, Yogyakarta's cultural sites, Mt Bromo's volcanic trails, and Red Island's surf spots, with 13 breakfasts and comfortable accommodations throughout.
- Days 1-2
Jakarta & Bandung
Begin in Jakarta before moving to the refreshing climate of Bandung. "The scenic drive to Bandung's tea plantations was a welcome escape from Jakarta's intensity." Leave Jakarta before 7 AM to avoid the heavy traffic.
- Days 3-4
Bandung Region
Visit the Ciater Tea Plantation and nearby waterfalls. The hot springs offer perfect relaxation but arrive before 9 AM to beat the crowds. Take an afternoon train to Yogyakarta that takes about 7 hours. Book seats on the right side for great mountain views.
- Days 5-6
Yogyakarta
Stay in Java's cultural center. Choose the Prawirotaman area for good local food and easy access to temples. Start your Borobudur temple visit at sunrise with a 4 AM pickup, before the crowds and heat arrive. "Watching dawn break over Borobudur's stupas was magical – bring layers as mornings are surprisingly cool."
- Days 7-8
Mt Bromo Region
The mountain village of Ngadas sits at 2,300m elevation. Pack warm clothes since nights can get as cold as 10°C. You'll need good hiking shoes for the Ancestor Trail trek. The volcanic ground can be unstable. Wake up at 3:30 AM for clear sunrise views across the Sea of Sand.

Red Island
This quiet surf spot on Java's south coast is perfect for beginners, especially during morning lessons. "The surf instructors were incredibly patient – I was standing on the board by the end of my first lesson!"
- Days 11-12
Pemuteran (Bali)
After a 1.5-hour ferry ride to Bali, explore the peaceful north coast. Go snorkeling with rental gear from beachfront shops for about $5/day. Visit the coral restoration project in the morning when the water is clearest.
- Days 13-14
Kuta & Departure
Finish in Kuta, Bali's popular beach resort. The sunsets are beautiful here. Skip the expensive beachfront clubs and try the bars on Poppies Lane II for better prices and atmosphere.

I really enjoyed this tour! We got to see some beautiful places around Java and Bali, and there were times when the scenery took my breath away! I can't praise Epul high enough, he did everything within his ability to organise things so that everybody was catered for and happy! He was always eager to share his knowledge about Indonesian culture and could give us a real insiders perspective ! He was always very helpful, even taking an interest in helping people organise their further travel plans after the trip! He was always checking in with us, and really made it his business to keep everybody happy and make sure people had the best experience possible! I loved the homestay experiences, I feel like this is not something I could have experienced otherwise, and it was great to see the reality of how people live and witness the authenticity of it all.... Our hosts were always so welcoming and happy to teach us about their culture and traditions. The only small suggestion I would have is perhaps finding a way to break up the longer travelling days.... There were about three days that were completely given over to commuting from place what with roads and traffic, and these were tough going. I am really happy I chose this trip, thank you very much
