Elephant sanctuary was a very rewarding experience , feeding the elephant and learning about the Thai culture. Maya goes over and beyond as a tour guide. She always made sure we all had fun and always made us laugh. She has a strong passion for adventure and enthusiasm to share the Thai culture with us.

I was scared to do the zip-lining and ended up loving it. I also loved seeing the elephants and the water park canyon at the end of the trip. Also staying at the hill tribe village was an unforgettable experience.
I would have loved of spend more time at the temples as they were so beautiful. Really happy with the number of trips and activities. It was so worth it! Just book and go!!!!

I also loved the hill tribe trek- such an amazing experience. I would have liked to have spent longer at the temple in Ayutthaya to look around properly. Some activities such as cave were quite far to travel to but loved everything else.

Khaosok National Park was the best place for relaxing. Going to the temples was also good to learn about Thailand, religions and history.

She handles whatever obstacles come her way professionally and with grace. I cannot imagine my trip to Thailand without her in it!

You can tell they both have a passion for what they do and want to be professional and entertaining at the same time, making sure we have the best experience. There was around 20 of us in the group and they catered to everyone’s individual needs, they stayed professional throughout, not drinking but still making sure we had the best time. I had never been to Thailand before but they made sure we were given amazing information about the place, the language and the culture. When I thought that maybe I couldn’t do the snorkelling as the swim was quite far Maya got a kayak for me and her and made sure I could still go to the snorkelling beach and have a good time. When my friend and I were leaving after doing the 8 day shorter tour, they still booked us ferry tickets and helped us out with our onward journey! Always went out of their way.
Couldn’t have asked for better guides or a better experience I would recommend anyone to do a tour with Maya and May and think they should stay as a duo! Because it was incredible.
Felt so safe around both of them and knew they would always be there whenever we needed them. Thank you!

I don’t know where to start with how amazing Maya is. I have never met someone with a passion for what they do like Maya. Going to Thailand was something completely different for me, I had no idea wha…I don’t know where to start with how amazing Maya is. I have never met someone with a passion for what they do like Maya. Going to Thailand was something completely different for me, I had no idea what to expect, what to do or where to go! But from the moment I arrived at our first top in Bangkok, Maya instantly made me feel welcome. From our first meeting I knew that while I was with Maya, I was going to be fine and any worries I had vanished.
Maya instantly bonded with everyone in our group which had 21 people in it. All from different countries and backgrounds, yet she still brought our group together, and through her we became more than a group, we became family.
Maya took us to see some absolutely breathtaking places and organised some of the best days of our lives. She was always early for every meeting. If we had arranged to meet in our hotel lobby at say 9am. You could 100% guarantee than Maya would be there at 8:30. There was never a time that Maya didn’t have a smile on her face, anyone could see how much she loves doing what she does. I suppose when you’re the best at it, you’re bound to it enjoy it.
I was so well informed about the cultural aspects of Thailand because of Maya. I was told how I could interact with locals, and some of the best places to go, see and eat at when we had free time. Maya just knew everything, any questions I had, Maya was my saving grace.
The only trouble I have now, is when I book with TruTravel again, (which I will), I’ll be worried because I know that no matter what I guide I have, they won’t be as good as Maya. So Maya, if you see this, whenever I come on tour, I’ll have to find you, if that’s okay?
To summarise and conclude, Maya is not only one of the best people I have ever met, but she made an experience that was guaranteed to be life changing, all that more special, by every morning greeting us with a hug, a smile and something to say to make us laugh. We never went anywhere without Maya telling us all we needed to know. She is the greatest, and because of her, I had the best trip of my life. Thank you Maya.

Maya - as the main guide on the tour - made sure that we were well informed about every activity at all times, she was there for us whenever we needed something and was always kind and friendly. She made sure everybody was happy! Maya knows a lot about Thai culture and gave this knowledge to us which I appreciated a lot. There was no question she could not answer. And last but not least I enjoyed spending time with her because she is not only smart but also a nice and funny person. I cannot recommend her as a tour guide and the Northern thailand trip enough!

The activities were always fun and the perfect amount of time for us to enjoy free time also. Alex always kept the party going (even if I did drink him under the table... on numerous occasions) and Maya had us laughing right from the start, and made sure all of our activities were filmed so we could remember everything! Little did I know, it would be the best decision I ever made to book on the 8 day tour with trutravels! Before I had even got to Thailand, Alex one of the tour leaders had got in contact with me to introduce himself and answered every little question I had for him. I arrived a day before the tour started and was staying at a different hotel with a friend, but that didn't stop trutravels from making us feel welcome by inviting us out for some welcome drinks! After about 5 days, I realised that I was having so much fun with my tour group that I wanted to stay on for the full 18 day island hopper tour! Maya and Alex made this so easy for me to do and organised everything! I also managed to lose my bank card within about 3 days of being in Thailand but my tour leaders helped me every step of the way to sort it out. I loved having Maya there to teach us all some Thai words and phrases whilst also teaching us about the real Thai way of life. Alex and Maya made for the perfect tour leaders as they were both caring, organised, bubbly, fun and everything in between! I made some great friends from all over the world on that tour and am already planning a trip back there with some other friends on a trutravels tour :) I wouldn't hesitate to recommend trutravels to anyone who is thinking of doing some travelling in Asia. They help you create memories that will last a lifetime!

On top of that, it's very well organised from start to finish...no stress, no drama! From the airport pickup on the day I arrived to helping me sort out flights/ ferries/ accommodation to Bangkok for my return flight, nothing was too much trouble for our guides! All three guides were very sociable and joined in all the fun, which let me know from the get-go that this trip was going to be something pretty awesome!! I went on the tour as a solo traveler but in all honesty, it doesn't matter if you're there on your own or with a friend because you're there with like minded people all looking for the same experience and you all just click instantly! From the airport pickup on arrival to our last day, everything was really well organized and we had nothing to worry about. Maya was really helpful offering Thai history and culture along the way, and Alex and Itchy were a blast to hang out with the whole trip. All three were very social and were always willing to help us find fun things to do in our spare time during the tour. There were always great options available to us throughout the trip, so we never felt bored. The accommodations were great and a lot of fun as we stayed in a variety of places. Echo beach hostel was the best hostel I have ever stayed in. All in all, it's an awesome trip to do solo or with a friend because you get to meet a ton of new people from around the world and instantly become great friends. Im looking forward to booking another trip with them!

The trip is great if you are a first time traveller like myself because going solo travelling can be daunting. By doing an organised trip you know that you'll meet people who are looking for a similar thing and experience to you.
The itinerary is packed with stuff to do so there's never a day where you'll be bored and there are a couple of free days to give you the opportunity to explore.
Thanks to my tour guide and my group I had one hell of a trip and would recommend this to anyone who is looking for good times and fun.

Not being a big drinker I felt Amanda related to my needs and expectations from the trip and went the extra mile making sure even on down days that if the group wanted to do something she would help make it happen . She has a really nice vibe about her and in many ways it felt that she was actually a traveller in the group . The world needs more Amanda's in it . Mia was just as chilled and helpful and put the group at ease with her style . These two guides work well as a team and I just felt privileged to be in there group . I don't think I would have enjoyed the 10 days if I were with another guide .

The whole experience was amazing, so many different places seen in a short time and my group was fantastic.
The two group leaders were great, especially Ryan who clearly has a lot of experience being a guide and spent a lot of time on the many different islands and knows all the best spots.
The accommodation was all great, air con everywhere, very clean. Echo beach hostel in Koh Phangan is unreal. Great staff, good music, on the beach, great food and the most adorable puppies in the universe.
Railey, Phi Phi were so beautiful, and Kao Sok is indescribable. The various activities and day trips were all great.
My only slight negative was the over night boat to Railey, it was pretty cramped and old. Unfortunately there is a nicer boat which is usually used but it was not available Ryan told us.
All in all this trip was the highlight of my 3 months of travelling with out a doubt.
Cannot wait to go back to Thailand already

I really want to thank or guides Ryan,(who happens to be an amazing dj ) and Maya. They were very helpfull and went out of their way to fullfill our requests. She knows how to lead a group and show her wonderful countryin the best possible way. She went above and beyond for everyone in the group to keep them safe, learn and experience her country and generally making sure everyone was having a great time. Our tour guides, Maya and Jonjo, were knowledable, outgoing and friendly. They made my trip extra special by going out of their way to make my birthday an amazing and unforgettable day. I would highly recommend going on this tour to learn a little about Thai culture and see some lovely places.

The tour guides Maya and Jonjo were very welcoming and friendly and made sure we had a good time and got to experience some of the great parts of Thailand. They were very helpful in leading us to the right direction as far as continuing on our travels and all necessary information. Would highly recommend.

I couldn't be happier to have found the Island Hopper tour! Maya and Alex were my tour guides and they are a huge reason why I loved this trip so much. Even before arriving, the communication and excitement shown by both of them made me feel very comfortable, excited, and safe! Each location we went to was well organized and both maya and alex were extremely helpful with anything we may need or any problem that arose. In addition to being great tour guides, they both became great friends as well. We had a mix of ages and personalities in our group but all ended the tour as a close group who all now have so much love for thailand and trutravels! Amazing group leaders and amazing itinerary. Would 100 % recommend!
