Bicycle Tours & Trips in Northern Portugal
Cycling through Northern Portugal lets you experience the region at just the right pace. One of our favorite routes takes riders from Gerês National Park's mountains down to the Atlantic coast. Along the way, you'll find yourself pedaling past villages where locals still use community bread ovens and store maize in traditional granite buildings. The Minho River route through Vinho Verde wine country is particularly good - our cyclists always mention their stop at the elegant Brejoeira Palace. Down in the Douro Valley, another route follows old railway lines and weaves through olive groves, with plenty of picnic spots offering valley views. At night, you'll stay in family guesthouses where hosts often share their homemade liqueurs and local recipes.
