Mountain Bike Tours & Trips
Imagine tackling Himalayan singletracks where the air's thin and views are mind-blowing. Mountain biking takes you from Nepal's high-altitude trails through Europe's Alps to Andean slopes and North America's Rockies. These aren't roads – they're technical descents and lung-busting climbs through terrain that'll test you. From Himalayan passes to Alpine valleys to Rocky Mountain wilderness, this is adventure on two wheels.

I did the 7-day adventure. This one is worth it! It was amazing, everything was taken care of. It was nice to go to another country and have someone who already had great hotels and hostels vetted. Every place we stayed was clean and had my own room and bathroom. Packing tips: Bring a 28L bag - When you start mountain biking you have to carry everything on the hikes. That is 4 days. What I brought. -Lots of small amounts of Sols. Some places only take Sols and can’t break 50 or 100 Sols. The first hotel converted USD to Sols for me. -Swimsuit -Good bug spray -I brought a water filter and wish I brought a hydration pack (ended up just refilling the plastic bottles I bought every night by filtering the tap water) -Clothes are difficult to predict so layers. Other helpful hints you have to ask months in advance to do huayna picchu. It is worth it but time was tight. I think the average time is 2.5 hours to do. Plus you have to get yourself back to the train which is 1.5 hour hike down or the bus which is took us 45 minutes to get tickets, line, and ride down. For reference our huayna picchu entrance was at 10AM and we had to be at the bus station at 2 PM. It also is worth maybe taking an extra day or two independently or spending a couple of days in Lima. Make sure your travel insurance covers the activities you will do. Overall, I highly recommend this tour. Everything was great! You get a lot in this package.

Should be renamed Hike Bike and Too Many Temples. Certainly there wasn’t enough kayaking to put it in the title. An option to not see 8 temples in Siem Reap would have been nice. If I wanted to go on a temple tour, I would have signed up for one. Our whole group loved the kayaking experience the most. More kayaking, please!

What our customers ask about Mountain Bike Tours & Trips
What accommodation options do Mountain Bike tours offer?
The style of lodging really depends on where you're going. In European destinations like the Loire Valley, you'll stay in nice 4-star hotels like Château Belmont in Tours. If you're doing the Nepal Annapurna Circuit, expect a mix - basic but clean mountain lodges during the trek, then 3-star hotels like the Ayni Cusco when you're in bigger cities. Most places have private bathrooms, though amenities get simpler the more remote you go. One nice thing is you'll usually stay 2-3 nights in each spot, giving you time to settle in.
How many hours will I spend biking each day?
Most days you'll be on your bike about 4-6 hours. In the Loire Valley, you'll cover about 25-37 miles at an easy pace that lets you take in the scenery. The Andorra rides are similar - about 4-5 hours exploring quiet valley roads. Some routes are more challenging though. On the Annapurna Circuit, a TourRadar traveler mentions that "some days we rode up to 31 miles with quite a bit of climbing."
Are meals part of the package?
It varies by tour. The Loire Valley trips include breakfast every day plus some group dinners. In Nepal, all your meals are covered during the trek and you get breakfast in cities. Costa Rica tours typically include 7 breakfasts and 2 lunches, leaving you free to try local spots for other meals. A TourRadar traveler on the Andorra tour said "the food was fantastic with multi-course meals that were perfect for hungry cyclists."
When's the best time of year to go?
It really depends on where you're headed. For the Loire Valley, aim for April through October when it's mild and the trails are dry. The Annapurna Circuit is best in spring (March-May) or fall (September-November) when temps are comfortable and you get clear mountain views. Costa Rica? Book between December and April during dry season when the trails are in good shape. Each place has its sweet spot weather-wise.
What's a typical daily distance?
You'll usually cover between 25-50 miles per day, but it varies with the terrain. Along the Moselle River, expect about 30-43 miles daily on mostly flat paths. The Kathmandu Valley rides are shorter but more challenging - about 20-30 miles with some serious climbs. The good news is there are plenty of breaks. As TourRadar travelers mention, you'll find lots of great viewpoints along the way, so the miles go by pretty quickly.
