    After flying to Luang Prabang, start your first morning at 5:30 AM to see the alms-giving ceremony. Bring something warm to wear as mornings can be cool. Spend time exploring the temples of this UNESCO city, including Wat Xiengthong at the tip of the peninsula. Take a boat trip to Pak Ou Caves to see thousands of Buddha statues. The trip takes about 2 hours up the Mekong River. Visit Kuang Si Falls later in the day when the lighting is best for photos. You can swim in the beautiful turquoise pools below the cascading falls.

    Vang Vieng & Vientiane

If you're heading to Phnom Bakheng for sunset wear good shoes and bring a flashlight. The steps are very steep.

    Phnom Penh

    Take the 6-hour bus ride from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh. Book a morning departure when road conditions are better. Visit the Royal Palace early since the Silver Pagoda gets busy by mid-morning. Plan to see the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum in the afternoon when it's quieter. While sobering it's an important site to visit.
