A very good look at Georgia thanks to the itinerary and our guide (Vakho). Being a private tour meant changes to suit us were possible. Accommodation was good and the included meals were overly generous. For a country that invented wine it was a pity that the wine servings at meals were not as generous as the food.

What our customers ask about Adventure Tours & Trips in Georgia
When is the best time to go on an Adventure tour in Georgia?
The optimal time for Georgia Adventure tours runs from June to September with the most reliable conditions for exploring the Svaneti region and Caucasus mountains. During these months the Svaneti area around Mestia and Ushguli (Europe's highest permanent settlement at 2200m) provides excellent hiking conditions. A TourRadar traveler notes "The July weather was perfect for hiking with clear skies providing spectacular views of Mt. Shkhara and the Caucasus range." While daytime temperatures stay comfortable for trekking mountain weather can change quickly especially near high points like Chkhutnieri Pass (2720m) and Shkhara Glacier (2500m).
What are the must-see highlights of a Georgia Adventure tour?
The UNESCO-protected Svaneti region stands out as the key attraction where visitors can trek to Ushguli village at 2200m and see the Shkhara Glacier below Georgia's highest peak. The route takes in Mestia's medieval stone towers the rock-carved town of Uplistsikhe and Kakheti's renowned wine country. According to a TourRadar traveler "The view of Mt. Shkhara from Ushguli and the trek to Chkhutnieri Pass were absolutely breathtaking but the warmth of the local families in Adishi was equally memorable." Beyond nature the tours connect to cultural landmarks like Mtskheta's 6th-century Jvari Church and traditional wine cellars in Sighnaghi.
What level of fitness is required for a Georgia Adventure tour?
These tours need moderate fitness levels as daily treks cover 13-19 kilometers in mountain terrain. Routes include demanding sections like climbing Chkhutnieri Pass at 2720m and paths near Mt. Tetnuldi reaching 2800m. Kala Hotel in Mestia serves as a base with some nights in village guesthouses in places like Adishi. One traveler shared "The treks were challenging but manageable with the longest day being about 6-7 hours from Adishi to Iprari. The views of the glaciers and peaks made every step worthwhile." Tours often include rest days and flexible options to adjust difficulty levels.
What are the accommodation options on Georgia Adventure tours?
Lodging varies between hotels and local guesthouses. Tbilisi offers stays at places like the Terrace Hotel while Kutaisi's Argo Hotel provides rest between treks. The Svaneti portion includes homestays in villages like Adishi and Iprari where families host visitors in traditional houses with basic shared facilities. A TourRadar participant noted "The combination of comfortable hotels in cities and authentic guesthouses in the mountains gave us the perfect balance. The hospitality at the family homestay in Adishi was incredibly warm and welcoming." Mestia's Kala Hotel functions as a central point for mountain excursions.
What's included in the meal plan for Georgia Adventure tours?
Most tours cover the majority of meals featuring traditional Georgian dishes. Svaneti region offers home-cooked meals in guesthouses including khachapuri cheese bread and khinkali dumplings. For trek days around Chkhutnieri Pass and Shkhara Glacier packed lunches keep hikers fueled. A recent traveler shared "The food was a highlight - from the family-cooked meals in Adishi to the wine tasting experiences in Kakheti every meal was an adventure in itself." Standard packages typically include 10 breakfasts 5 lunches and 7 dinners leaving room to explore local restaurants in Tbilisi and Kutaisi.
