I really appreciate the route, whereby the cities containing more historic content were prior to the beautiful Cambodian islands. Mark as a tour guide was highly competant, he was able to offer a wealth of information on each location we visited and also provided varying points of view; for example, with regard to the Cambodian civil war, the Khmer Rouge perspective versus Western interpretation. Additionally, Mark was so much fun to socialise with, he was at the centre of the party every night. I can genuinely say I have gained a wonderful friend and confidante, I will be extending my whole travelling to make his birthday in Thailand. #LongliveTimmy

I had an incredible time on this tour and it wouldnt have been the same if they werent such amazing, relaxed, friendly tour guides. Without the guidance of these guys I wouldn't have been introduced to the world of Joss shots, I wouldnt have made as many bad drunken decisions and I definitely wouldnt have had such ball in Cambodia. They both accomidated to the needs of every member of the group, meaning that everyone gained what they wanted from the trip.

I've made some friends for life and I'm so glad I did this tour, would 100% recommend this to anyone who has never been to Thailand before as it is a great starting point! He spoke to everyone in the group equally so no-one felt left out and came up with fun activities and drinking games to help us get to know eachother. Mark and Benmore also told us about Thailand's history and how we should act in order to respect their beliefs, which was very useful. You guys were the best tour guides I could have asked for and I strongly encourage others to do this tour too!

Despite the disruption from the kings cremation, they thought on their feet and came up with other things to do instead. They really made sure we were okay with our onwards travels and informed us of others places we could go in Thailand and other countries in Asia. From day one the group felt like a family and I have come away from this trip with new friends that I will stay in contact with. Including mark and benmore!! Every night we spent it as a group with mark being the one coming up with the ideas of what to do, including ridiculous drinking games! With that said I think it may take a month for my liver to recover! The only thing I could think of to improve the trip would be stay somewhere else other than koh phangan for a week.

My arrival was straight forward and very well organized when I was picked up. Benmore and mark gave us lots of cultural history behinds Thailand and the Thai people they taugh us how to respect and not offend Thai people lots of useful tips and basics to communicate with the locals which came in very useful, our daytime events were very well organized and clearly communicated and efficient we got to explore amazing places freely. Benmore was always in hand to capture the perfect picture ! I’m a picture girl and I love capturing the moment to take away with me so this ment a lot. Mark was available 24/7 and went all out to make sure eveyone was having the best time! In my opinion he went abouve and beyond and that’s how a group leader should be, you know you love had a good time when you genuinely didn’t want to leave to go home ! I always say it’s not about the destination but it’s about the people around you mark and Benmore made fab group leaders and helped me with all my onward travel plans which I now feel confident in. On a side note thank you mark for taking us to all the best spots and amazing views we saw I loved secret mountain the view was amazing up their I have some lovely pictures! Honestly this group of people have been the best keep doing what your doing mark and Benmore nobody will top you pair #dreamteam I’m already looking at my next true travels tours thanks to you guys I’m coming back for sure x

I couldn’t recommend them both enough to anyone, both attentative and helpful as well as being knowledgeable and taking us to places not on the itinerary and suggesting cool things to do.
Even due to the kings cremation they made sure we all still enjoyed ourselves and it was so relaxed and easygoing tour that it never felt like you had to think about anything and could take it at your own pace whenever you wanted to.
Thanks Mark and Benmore for giving me an unforgettable 2 weeks. It was truly a pleasure to share it all with you both.

From meeting at the airport to getting back on the plane the travel arrangements and accommodation where spot on and couldn’t have ran more smoothly. The banter on the trip was second to none and this was all down to Mark and Patrick, they integrated with everyone so which made everyone feel so comfortable like we had known eachother for years. They provided the platform for everyone on the trip to make lifelong friendships not only with eachother but with themselves as well. Would deffinately recommend this trip and if you get Mark and Patrick then your in for a wild journey!

Was sad the trip had to come to an end, but will definitely be traveling with TruTravels again!

The tour covers a great range of activities, cultural destinations, hidden traveller spots and some big nights out! A personal highlight was Koh Sok, where we stayed overnight on floating bungalows. Many thanks to our tour guide Mark for making the whole trip run smoothly and efficiently. His calming, fun nature coupled with his knowledge about Thailand made this experience. Mark was organised, approachable and joined the group banter (as well as taking some). He was definitely the best tour leader. Shout out to One Way as well! This whole trip was highlighted by the brilliant, diverse group that I met. Everybody was in the same boat as myself; wanting to be sociable, open and most importantly wanting to have a good time. I can honestly say I have met some friends for life whom I will stay in touch with to organise the next TruTravels tour!

I could not have asked for a better tour guide to travel and experience Thailand with. He is knowledgeable of each location (Bangkok, Koh Sok, Koh Phanagan and all the spots in between) and is flexible with the itinerary depending on the mood of the group and what we would want to do that evening. Mark is very approachable and will not rest until you are all safe and having a good time. They created an awesome experience and really highlighted the best parts of Thai life. Northern Thailand and beaches tour.

Although this is sold as one tour the trip is split into two parts, the first part experiencing the exciting culture and visiting beautiful places in the north of Thailand. Personal highlights for us were the elephant sanctuary, zip lining, visiting the backpacking town of Pai, beautiful temples and fantastic viewpoints. Transportation was always comfortable, with aircon where possible, making us feel like no expense had been spared for our comfort. Our group during this part of the tour were like-minded people, interested in experiencing thai culture, making the tour very enjoyable. Our guides were Euan and Mickey, they were fantastic! They always kept us informed on what we were doing each day, where we were going, what times, and what we would need to bring with us. Both guides were passionate about giving us the best experience in northern Thailand and that truly showed. They were both very friendly, easy to talk to guys who answered any questions happily and made each member of the group, of every nationality feel welcome and included always. We'd like to thank both guides, and we would highly recommend the northern tour to anyone looking to learn and explore thai culture!
For the second part of our tour, we travelled to the south of Thailand to visit the beaches and relax in the sunshine. Meeting our new guides, Oneway and Mark, they were both very friendly and excited to take the new group to the south for the next part (or start of most people's) trip. Transport was not as comfortable as on the northern tour, namely the overnight train. We felt a little put out to have previously travelled twice in a comfortable carridge with aircon, to then have to spend the night in a carridge without. There were fans in this carridge but if you wanted to close the curtain for privacy or to block out the light to sleep, they were rendered useless. This did feel like a more authentic way to travel but felt very dissonant from the first part of our tour. As the train was very loud and uncomfortable, we didn't feel very well rested when we arrived at Khao Sok national park. However, this was still a spectacular place and by far the highlight of the beaches tour. Mark and Oneway explained how the park was formed and we enjoyed swimming in the reservoir. The beaches in the south were lovely, the boat trip was fantastic and the acomodation wasn't bad. The feel of the islands and the south in general was different to the north in that it felt less traditional and more for tourists. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but there is much more of a partying emphasis on this part of the tour which isn't for everyone.
Overall we very much enjoyed our northern Thailand and beaches tour with trutravels, we're glad that we got to experience the whole of the country, the cultural north and the sunny south, the whole trip was a good price with decent accommodation and some meals included. I'm a vegetarian and this was never a problem on any point of the tour, all of our guides were very acomodating of that. The included excursions are also great and we felt that without the tour we wouldn't have been able to visit so many different places in 21 days. Thanks trutravels!

As my first holiday on my own, they helped me to grow and get involved in the group and the tour, and they pushed me to reach new bests, like climbing a bloody rock face and not dying?!! they were both incredibly supportive and when i fell quite ill they looked after me and ensured i was managing, and when i wasn't they cheered me up. this tour is incredible and i would recommend it to anyone. It is by far the best holiday I've ever been on, never have I done a trip like this before and I am now transformed and planning another!

Thailand is a stunning place full of amazing landscapes and the the most beautiful places iv ever seen.. however i truely feel that without the enthusiasm and charisma that Patrick and Mark had the trip wouldnt have been anywhere near as much fun as it was. They really made sure with no effort that there was literally never a dull moment either travelling between destinations or at our destinations there was never a boring moment! Between all the fun they looked after the whole tour group making peoples problems there problems and doing anything they could going well out of there way to help the smallest of issues with out complaint!
They really care about everybody and listen to stories from people from all walks of life.
I feel they both went quickly from tour guides to two of the best friends iv ever had i really cannot thank them enough for all that they have taught me about thailand and also about life and how to care and look out for everybody and just enjoy every moment and help others to do so too!
A huge genuine thankyou to you both Patrick and Mark without you two this tour wouldnt have been what it was and i cannot wait untill the day i can meet you both again!! Your a credit to yourselfs and everybody lucky enough to meet you!!

Having a tour guide that spoke Thai was really helpful and made everything so much easier.
When anyone wanted to do excursions they always had one of the guides with them doing it as well which I thought was very good of them, especially when there was only one person doing it.
Overall they were amazing tour guides and I hope if I do tours in the future I have them again!

The tour guides and group definetly made the trip.

Being one of Marks first tours he was great! He was still learning and you respected that when he didn't always have the answer straight away but he always made sure that he would find out for you! Another time was when we was meant to do the MuayThai boxing and we didn't because of SONGKRAN and he then went out of this way to arrange us to do it in the next island if we wanted to! Mark is generally a lovely guy very down to earth and was always there when you needed him! The tour was great, meet some amazing people but the only down side would be there was a lot of unnecessary waiting around for taxis and at ports and for dinners. The group was a good size to start with around 20 people but when they joined us with another group for the last week or so the group became to big so everything took twice as long! Overall I would recommend this tour to anyone who is wanting to travel Thailand alone or in a pair. You never felt alone or home sick because you was always busy and always around people!

Had the best time and experiences of my life, didn't want it to end, my tour mates were amazing and everyone clicked instantly, we went to so many places and had so much fun everyday, my tour reps Patrick and Mark were amazing! Introduced us to some crazy fun filled stuff, don't know how they operated on 4hours sleep a night! They always checked on us and kept us going when we were dead from the night before. Would definitely use trutravels again.

The accommodation we stayed in was much nicer than I expected, and the transportation between islands was well organised with minimal hassle. The itinerary was great and I felt we had sufficient time in each place to experience what the island had to offer. The balance between actives and free time was perfect and the nightlife in each place was brilliant thanks to Patricks local knowledge.
Both Patrick and Mark were great tour guides, extremely helpful, friendly and easy to get on with. They brought the group together and adapted to the different tastes and personalities within our group of 24. I felt safe knowing I had them both as the tour guides, and have definitely made good friends with them both!
Would 100% recommend this tour, especially with Patrick and Mark to anyone I know!

We stayed in mostly nice accommodation and saw some of the most beautiful beaches and natural spots of Thailand. It's a backpackers tour so the accommodation is not five star but it's still really nice compared to other hostels I've been too. Some of the accommodation including the floating bungalows and beach bungalows were an amazing experience and one you might not otherwise get to do.
Tour Highlights included Bottle Beach (waking up for a morning swim was pure paradise), the stunning surrounds of Khao Sok, the shopping, snorkeling and great food of Koh Tao, the night ferry to Railay Beach and indoor surfing in Phuket.
The guides were really energetic and fun and the whole tour group became a really good group of friends.
In terms of improvements they could make:
- There were some days where we didn't stop or have time for lunch so it helped if I had a big breakfast before the day's activity. I think they should have told the group this before we went out so people knew to eat before the activity or bring food with them.
- There is also a lot of drinking and partying on this tour every day. I didn't feel like joining in a lot of the time on this trip as I wanted to enjoy the nature and activities in Thailand. It wasn't much of an issue for me though because I could just join in or not as I saw fit. An issue I did have is that the guides often encouraged drinking from morning until night in the heat and I had to look after a few of the girls on multiple occasions who were pretty ill because of this. I know we are all adults who can make our own decisions but I do think that behaviour was fairly irresponsible as a lot of the girls were 18-22 so they didn't necessarily know their limits when it came to drinking and saw our guides as role models. It's just a bad combo in 35 degree sunny heat each day!
Anyway despite those areas of improvements I still had an amazing time and would definitely recommend this tour to others! It's jam packed with stuff to do all the time but there's free time to chill as well. We saw so much in just 18 days so it was definitely value for money, yet the friendships we made and crazy experiences (we might not write home about!) are priceless :D

Doing this was the best thing I done, met the most amazing people, which made this trip good. And the tour guides patrick and mark also made the tour very good and no hassle for us.
