Johann was an extremely …Well, where to start! This has been the most incredible holiday ever. I can’t rate this enough, this is a “once in a life time” holiday. I will be recommending everyone to go. Johann was an extremely knowledgeable tour guide and looked after us all. It would not have been the same without him. If you are thinking of booking you will never regret it and make sure you ask for Johann!
This was our belated honeymoon and I couldn’t have asked for anything better. I have created a lifetime of memories with the most amazing group of people from all around the world. Not only have I experienced all of the beauty and culture of Iceland, I have also made friends for life.

Johann is knowledgeable, entertaining, caring and well organised. His driving over the full week - including some challenging snow-covered mountain routes - was faultless. He planned well ahead and adjusted itineraries so that we made the most of winter daylight, and to ensure that the hotel stops were perfectly timed to allow our group to relax and enjoy some fantastic places, meals - and good company.

Still I would recommend this tour as you cover so much of Iceland in such a short time, especially during winter where the daylight hours are short.

Wonderful tour! Encompasses everything we wanted to do on our first trip to iceland
I was on the 6-day tour of Iceland (Aug 29 – Sep 03, 2019) with Johann Georg Palsson as our Tour Guide. It was the most wonderful trip I have taken in a very long time. I can't say enough good things …I was on the 6-day tour of Iceland (Aug 29 – Sep 03, 2019) with Johann Georg Palsson as our Tour Guide. It was the most wonderful trip I have taken in a very long time. I can't say enough good things about Johann. He is very knowledgeable about Icelandic history, culture, traditions, food, geography, climate and scenic beauty. And he is so passionate about it all. He made sure the entire tour group was always well informed – he gave us an overview of each day's activities at the beginning of each day, and again explained in detail at every stop. He planned each day's activities based on the current weather conditions and made adjustments when needed, so we utilised the available time most efficiently. He even took us to unique locations, like the highest farm in Iceland. Johann kept a watch on the forecast for Northern Lights and the cloud cover, and made sure we got to see them finally at Laugarbakki. I got to capture some fantastic photos. We got to see Seals, Puffins, the iconic Icelandic Horse and even an Arctic Fox cub and a herd of Goats, thanks to Johann. And of course, plenty of sheep.
I am very grateful for Johann's compassion, understanding and empathy towards everyone of us. He made sure every single person in the group was comfortable and their needs are taken care of. He answered every question I had - and believe me, I had many! Like, why sheep are seen always in groups of three or what do Icelanders do with so many horses? His humour kept us all in a very good spirits throughout the trip. He even tried to teach me how to pronounce a few Icelandic words – the fact that I failed miserably it is not his fault :)
Johann Georg Palsson is the Gold Standard for Tour Guides - not just in Iceland but everywhere!

Had witnessed the northern lights couple of nights during this trip and that was the highlight of the trip.
Enjoyed the breath taking view of the tectonic plates, activity of the geysers, hot springs at boiling temperatures, the black sand beach and the diamond beach, Lagoon with floating ice bergs, many beautiful waterfalls, magnificent canyon, geothermal nature bath, lava fields and an old volcanic crate, scenic drive on narrow roads on steep hills and many more.....

Very personable. I liked that he told us a lot of interesting information, he knows a lot about his country, but he didn't talk constantly, it was a good balance. I went into this tour not fully knowing what to expect (except for the outline of the initerary, of course), and now that it is unfortunately over, I can look back to a tour with a great itinerary, a really nice group, and a truly excellent guide.
It was easy to tell that Jóhann was both passionate about his job and all the stops and details of the tour, as well as very empathetic to all the tour guests, always making sure that everyone was happy. And we definitely were happy! I should also add that Jóhann's joke timing was impeccable, which further contributed to the great overall atmosphere and group dynamic, despite the fact that our group was quite heterogenous, with guests from three continents and all age brackets.
In addition to the many beautiful sites and places we got to see, the itinerary was also very well balanced in that we never had too long rides on a single day or between two stops. There were, of course, days which had more highlights than others, but every single day was full of great memories. The extra stops Jóhann brought us to were always worth the visit, too. And whenever our guide gave us a recommendation for a place to eat, or had already prearranged something, we were not disappointed in the slightest.
If you're thinking about maybe doing this tour, stop thinking, just do it. There will be no regrets. And if you happen to know that Jóhann will be your guide: go and book right away!

If you ever have the opportunity to take this tour, Johann is your best man. If you have the chance, bring him a Guinness but if Guinness is hard to come by, Viking Gold will do. Each day was packed with beautiful waterfalls, small hikes, and fascinating history and geology. Johann really made the group feel cohesive (we had an age range of teenagers to people in their sixties) and was great at recommending spots for dinner that would enhance the cultural experience. We often all dined together, which added to the overall feel and spirit of the trip. This tour is a great way to see a lot of Iceland in not a lot of time. The drives were never too long from stop to stop, and when time allowed, Johann included extra stops that he thought we would enjoy. Can't recommend it (and Johann) enough!
