I’ve had the best 10 days in Bali and Gili T with my group and Lee! We have done and seen so much in the 10 days! We have done and seen so much in the 10 days! There are so many highlights to the trip including surfing, swimming with turtles and hiking up Mt. Batur (an optional extra) We had some great nights out from chilled evenings around camp fires to big nights out! All were great fun! Lee has been great fun and very well organized throughout the whole trip, I always knew what was going on. I will be very sad to leave Bali but I will be back one day!

I was quite nervous to book a trip on my own but I am so happy that I did! Being so well organized and contacted before hand made me feel at ease too. As I landed in Denpasar Airport my leader Lee was already in contact with me. All of the activities were very well organized and Lee always made sure that all of us were well informed and comfortable with the plans for each day. Lees knowledge and passion for culture and the hot spots made it all that more enjoyable! Because of his excitement you became equally so. The highlands of my trip would have been the surfing lesson, the optional volcanoe trek in Ubud, and the snorkeling/boat trip in the Gili’s. Lees inside knowledge of hidden gems for lunch/dinner spots made our trip extra special. I loved every moment of the trip and would highly recommend Lee as a leader to anyone, guaranteed amazing time with an amazing human being! This experience changed my life!

I arrived a day earlier before the start of the trip and the other members of the group and I was feeling like quite nervous, but Lee made me feel completely at ease. He suggested places that I could go to, arranged a taxi for me to go to the market and gave me tips on how to bargain. Lee knowledge of Indonesia is exceptional. Any questions we had about this beautiful country he knew the answer to. He always made sure that everyone was fine at all times and having a good time! I really enjoyed all of the activities on the tour, especially the waterfalls, rice terraces and cooking class! (I never cook at home!) Lee you are an amazing person inside and out, you’re very funny, I have really enjoyed being in your company for the last 10 days! I have made friends for life!

I was the first to arrive out of our group and Lee gave me tons of recommendations on what to do and where to go on the first day, whilst he was picking up others from the airport. Throughout the whole tour he provided us with so much knowledge about bali and Indonesian culture, which really added to our experience! He also took us to some great restaurants, cafes and bars that suited everyone. Especially The Exile in Gili Trawangan! I enjoyed every single activity but my favorite was the boat tour around the islands! From start to finish the trip has been amazing! I will definitely be using TruTravels again.

I went with a friend and then made many friends along the way. TruTravels gave us plenty of information before hand and Lee (our guide) introduced himself before we arrived also. He was waiting for myself and a few others at the airport on arrival with clear instructions of where to meet, he then took us to the first hotel and continued to be as organised throughout the rest of the tour. He always had the answers and was able to facilitate advice on extra activities and help book them if we wanted, from venues, to spas, restaurants and other Balinese experiences. He would also give us cultural and historic information along the tour, giving extra detail and explaining traditions and beliefs of the locals as well, very well informed. The tour had plenty of included and optional parts, with lots of day time and evening activities so to please many people, and if you didn’t want to do one thing then Lee could help you arrange something else. I participated in every activity along with some of the others and enjoyed everything, I wouldn't recommend missing a thing, not even the 3am hike up the Mount Batur in the dark for the sunrise. There were some members of our group that were not so willing to get involved or attend the activities, I think this was only detrimental to their experience and perhaps a tour is not the right kind of travel for them. You will get out of this tour what you put into it, as the majority of us demonstrated. A trip abroad is rarely without hiccups and complications or ill health but Lee dealt with every situation and continued to bring the group together and keep everyone on the path of enjoyment. He provided extra support for those who needed it, prioritised when people were sick or injured through circumstances that were not his fault, and gave plenty of information so if you chose to go off at your own pace would know where to meet up again, he deserves his 5 star rating for effort alone. Even after the tour was complete he was helping us arrange onward travel arrangements and more than happy to be contacted if you needed any further help or advice. Lee was not only a professional and reliable tour guide the entire time but also a friend. In conclusion I had an amazing time, made amazing friends who I am seeing again and would do it all again tomorrow.

I felt so safe despite being so ill, and it could have easily spoiled my trip but it definitely didn’t due to Lees care, help and advice. I’ve loved all parts of the trip - it’s been the perfect balance of having many activities but also keeping super chilled and enough free time to relax and do our own thing too. Lee had so much knowledge and knew the answer to everything that I asked about, and not just in Bali, but other places as he is so well traveled and he was able to make many recommendations of what was good on the menu and places we can stay afterwards in Bali, seen very different parts of it and each experience has been completely unique and I don’t feel exhausted which you could easily with many tours with such a packed itinerary! We had such a great group with us. Always felt safe, chilled while having so much fun and having both a holiday and cultural experiences. I would easily recommend this trip to others and I would definitely go with TruTravels again. I would also easily have Lee as my tour guide for every tour I did again, no matter where it was! He’s really made the experience so great and it has been the perfect ending to my travels and I’m happily spending my last days in Bali as a solo traveler with so much confidence and knowledge than when I started the trip. I’m looking forward to going back to canggu to surf!

I loved that he shared information about the countries history and he also shared articles of videos on to our group chat that related to his story’s about Indonesia. I loved the evenings entertainment, card games, outdoor cinema and nights out. Good mixture of chilled evenings and party nights. I felt that Lee connected us all well as a group, no one was ever left out. We all got on so well and that was down to Lee. This trip could have been a completely different experience if we didn’t have Lee. I’m so glad that we had him and his happy positive energy. My only complaint would have been about the hotel in Ubud, as we had a few issues, but Lee’s response was reassuring so it is hard to be annoyed about it! Thank you Lee for showing us some amazing venues, I feel that you understood us as a group and catered for our needs, you really made me laugh out loud 100% of the time. We love you Lee!

I enjoyed all of the activities throughly and was grateful for all of the information and knowledge given to us while reaching each location. I really enjoyed any other activities we also did aside from our general itinerary, as Lee was able to show us the best cafes, restaurants and spots that I would not have been able to find myself, Lee was ready to show us the all of the coolest spots to have a good time! He was also able to give us recommendations and lots of extra activities in our free time. I appreciated his complete honesty and further advice for a any future travel in different countries, as he is so well traveled and knowledgeable!! I also really liked the location of our hotels. I feel as though we did a lot on our 10 days and I wish it could have lasted even longer, as we all became a close, diverse, amazing family. We wouldn’t have been this close and have gotten on so well if it wasn’t for Lee. What made Lee stand out for me was when I was seasick, Lee looked after me, held all of my belongings, ordered me ginger tea to settle my sickness, and was overall comforting. I felt so comforted and calm, because without Lee I genuinely would have struggled, so many thanks!
I particularly enjoyed the activities every single one of the activities were extremely varied and I loved every moment. Especially the activities in Ubud. I got to try new experiences such as trekking an active volcanoe or going on a swing over the beautiful rice terraces and I even had a monkey jump on me - all of which were completely new life changing experiences.
A very big thank you to Lee for being a brother, a friend and a dad. Thank you for making this trip so special. Hand on heart, I would not have changed one thing. Your facts and figures about not only Bali and Indonesia, but also the world has inspired me to travel way more. I am privileged to have met him. Our group was perfect and I have met some great friends. I feel that I have experienced most aspects of Bali. Every place was so different in their own way. Lee brought us to the best bars/restaurants in each place, and that really added to the experience. Lee would tell us how much money that we needed roughly for each place, and none of the restaurants broke the bank either. The accommodation in Canggu and Gili T were really good, they were also in great locations. I can not think of anything that would have made the experience better. Lee booked a few different activities in our free time, which he had no problem with doing it all. Thank you for everything TruTravels, I’ll be booking again!! What ever money Lee is on, it’s not half enough! He’s one in a million!

I would not have done half the things I did and I'm glad there was such a range of activities. However, there is a large role for improvement both from the guide and especially trutravels as a company. Firstly, if you have a peanut allergy honestly forget it. No one seemed to care about or understand the situation and they were warned prior to the trip. Restaurants brought peanuts to the table in front of the girl and the cooking class had peanuts in the recipe which was not told beforehand so she had to leave. Lee's solution to not have her leave was to put her in a separate area however peanuts smell would cover everyone and travel in the air whilst being on everything. Of course, a simple solution upon true travels finding out about the allergy would have been to just change the meal instead of making her feel guilty and like shed wasted a morning because she could of gone exploring something different. The fact this issue was so poorly handled was a very worrying aspect of the trip.
Secondly, our tour guide lost individuals and in one case half the group on multiple occasions. Once getting to the second hotel in Ubud, then the monkey forest and another at the rice terraces - causing two young girls to have panic attacks. I understand that as adults we are independent however a simple headcount - especially when some people don't have service or the internet - would solve these issues. Furthermore, our group was 17 people which is very large and unfair on Lee as shown at the monkey forest. As one girl was missing he still pressed on with the group not bothering to search for her. The group were all together and had the internet so could contact him if he just went to search for her but didn't leaving her shaken in Ubud. However, I believe TruTravels could have sorted this issue by providing two tour guides for such a large group especially as girls were attacked my monkeys later including one bitten. This would also help with my next concern in that none of us had emergency contact details for anyone. What if our guide was unconscious? He was almost run over by a horse and cart in Gili and if that was any worse none of us had the faintest idea who to contact. TruTravels website has a 24 hour response call however thats no good in actual crisis.
Another, problem ws on the first night two girls had a miscommunication and instead of being neutral Lee tried to kick one of the girls off the trip without even talking to her based on what the other girl had said. He claimed in the morning later that he heard she was violent and denied saying this to anyone making the girl he threaten to kick of mistrust and more angry at her friend for a miscommunication. Only by the end of the trip another member of the group claimed he had said it a lied to her. This set the tone for a mistrusting and uncomfortable relationship with Lee and I do not think if anyone is having a simple disagreement they should have their safety threatened without even having being spoken to?
Finally, this review is coming in place of the piece of paper you have to sign the day before you leave with your name and contact information which you then hand to your team leader. I do not think its fair to not have an anonymous and email review. Instead, lee had to hear every comment and felt like he wanted to quit his job after reading 17 reviews. Instead, if reviews were emailed then management could address the situation and help Lee not making the last day feel [expletive removed in moderation] for everyone involved

Our group leader Lee was amazing from contacting us at the airport after we landed to answering all of our questions, and helping in any way he could to make our trip as enjoyable as possible. He offered us great ideas for our activities which we could do in our spare time, and he offered to take care of the bookings. He took care of the tickets and transfers for wherever we wanted to go which took the hassle away from us. The trip in general was amazing experience, and I enjoyed every minute of it! Getting to know our group and doing fun activities and learning about the history and culture of Bali. And this trip was made all the better by our amazing group leader Lee! Lee is really friendly and told us so much about the places that we visited which really added to the experience, it is obvious Lee really loves what he does and his enthusiasm made the trip so better as he encouraged everyone to have fun and enjoy themselves. He also made it clear that if weren’t comfortable you didn’t have to partake and could simply watch everyone else which I really appreciated! Life is about people. It's not about the place you go or the things you do. The only reason why any of those things feel special in the first place is because of the incredible people you got to share them with.
Indonesia is a beautiful country and since I have been here, it never happened that smiling to someone, I have not received a smile back.
Since I have been here I have a new country in my heart.
The time that we spent in Canggu was so great.
We than visited two amazing temple, Taman Ayun, which means beautiful garden. Once inside we enjoyed the tranquility of the garden with small pound and fountains.
And Tanah Lot, the famous temple on water, nestled on a small island of the coast.
I really enjoyed the surfing lessons in Kuta. Never done it before and it was so much fun.
In Ubud I loved the cooking class. The food that we cooked together was so delicious.
The visit at the Tegenungan Waterfall and the rice terraces were incredible and inspiring.
For last but not least the Gili's islands with breathtaking sunsets and paradise beaches really stole my heart.
The Snorkeling trip was stunning, we saw so many different species of fish and turtles.
Considering everything I had the best time and highly recommend the tour.
I will definitely do another trip with TruTravels!

This information was mainly provided by our tour guide Lee Wilson who is one of the most down to earth and friendly humans I have ever met. He made sure that everyone stayed happy every minute and oh my, his food recommendations were absolutely fab! I was able to find us a good burger, even in Bali! Genuinely is the best guide I could have asked for. I’d recommend this trip to everyone whether you’re a solo traveler or traveling with a mate you’ll be sure to make friends along the way. No on to Lee, our tour guide. Lee is really good at what he does. Every single question I threw at him he answered in detail with excitement. He went above and beyond in trying to make us all feel welcome and safe. Even when it came to more personal matters Lee was there to help! Lee, although you have the best job in the world, I now realize that it is quite tough, you make it look easy though, keep it up!

With all of the knowledge of all of the locations that we visited and interesting facts, he had an answer for all of the questions that we asked. Not to mention all of the great recommendations for food, local areas and interesting things to try out. He was extremely knowledgeable about all of the places that we went to and respected your wishes if you did not want to participate in a specific activity. The trip as a whole was super beautiful. Friendly people and great food! Lee was also very kind and helpful with people who didn’t have enough cash on them, he even made his phone available for an international call, which is totally going above and beyond. Lee is a very friendly guy and was always making sure that we were having fun. He handled all of the admin stuff so we never had to worry about not seeing any of the landmarks, as he would reserve everything for us. He also taught us some of the local language and I liked that all of the local people greeted him fondly. He also made sure that we received good discounts when it came to the taxis in Bali. Overall, Lee is a very good guy and extremely good at what he does. I would definitely recommend this trip to others if he continues to be a tour leader. Thanks so much Lee!

It was my birthday during our trip and Lee organised a cake at one of the finest restaurants in Ubud...every dining was an experience on its own. He would go out of his way for everyone and get involved with us all. The out itself was awesome. The waterfalls were amazing and the picturesque rice terraces were very cool! The view of the volcanoes with the lunch was the best view that I’ve ever had whilst eating! Which was also a buffet. My favorite part of the tour was definitely the surfing and snorkeling/boat trip, which Lee got involved in which was cool! Whist snorkeling we also had a local Indonesian guide which made us feel very safe and comfortable, we got to see lots of tropical fish which made me feel like I was in finding Nemo, and we also saw a lot of turtles! I also took part in the optional volcanoe hike activity which Lee organized and I would highly recommend it! Overall the tour was amazing and I met some awesome people! I would love to have a catchup with Lee and have a few more beers with him!

He would always share loads of knowledge on the local area, but he has also well travelled so that he can give you recommendations on other places to visit in the world. Lee always has a high amount of energy and was always on time which was really good, it picks you and the whole group up, if you're a bit tired from the night before. Lee was always taking photos, and he would always put them on photo circle, and add all of the group on to it so that everyone is putting their photos on there, which was super good so that you can grab other peoples photos from the trip.

The hotels were different and each has their plus points ie Ubud had the best pool. I was scratched by a monkey in monkey forest and Lee was my personal "hero" as he was calm and supportive when I was stressed by this situation.

The itinerary was great! a perfect amount of activity balanced with free time. (Lee also continuously offered to book anything anyone wanted to do during this free time.) I can't say that there wasn't anything I didn't enjoy from surfing to the rice terraces and cooking class to the volcano trek! Transport around the islands was easy and well organised. The accommodation was way better than I ever expected having been on previous tours with other companies. Never perfect in a developing country - but decent enough that each hotel had a nice pool and friendly staff. I always felt safe and well looked after! I would definitely recommend this tour and Lee to everyone!

TruTravels did a great job at making sure the trip was diverse and that everything interesting to see was covered. I was favourite part was the snorklling/boat trip on the Gili Islands. Our tour guide Lee was very organized! Everything was arranged perfectly and he was very professional but Lee was also so much fun! He joined the group for the nights out, partied and boogie'd with un until sunrise! Love, Love Love him!!!! The only thing that I would change about the trip was the amount of free time, sometimes it felt a little bit too scheduled and It would have been nice to have decided where to go for dinner, nights out ourselves sometimes.
Overall the BEST experience! I could not fault Lee, he is so fun, so knowledgable and so lovely/attentive! It was the perfect way to experience Bali!!!

I liked to have an activity everyday but still have a lot of free time also, for me it is the perfect mix. The cooking class was absolutely amazing - The best food that my belly every experienced. I also loved the surfing lessons and the boat trip/snorkelling.
Lee was always on our side at any time, even 3:00 o'clock in the morning if we couldn't find our way back home. He is very funny, helpful and well organized. He was more like a friend than a leader, which was so nice. I really enjoyed that we didn't have a lot of travel days and we just had to travel for a few hours. So we were able to enjoy every single day!

My only criticism is that it would have been nice to spend more time at the waterfall and rice terraces to take it in and relax. For a little man Lee walks fast! Overall it was an amazing trip! well done guys.

He made sure that we arrived safely, found our hotels, and always responded to our questions right away. Having a small group (5 people) made this trip special. We were all able to connect and get to know each other very well. Lee always made sure that we know exactly what was happening each day including transportation, food, timings and night activities. He brought our group together and I could not have asked for a better group leader - He was professional, yet I made an amazing friend that I want to keep in touch with. Having a small group made this even better. Everyone clicked instantly and we are already talking about doing another trip with Lee. I will be talking about this group for a while because this group became like family.
I wish that I could know the group size beforehand, some people prefer smaller groups, and we didn't find out the size until a week before, an option of group size would be one of my recommendations.

We never had to wait for transportation. The accommodation was good and the itinerary was incredible. Highlights for me were Khao Sok National Park and the whole of Chiangmai. Visiting the elephants in such a natural environment was incredible and something I’ll remember forever. Big shout out to the tour guides who became friends and made the trip awesome.

Lee really went above and beyond to make sure that every member of the group was constantly having a good time on the trip. He was always the life and soul of the party but could also bombard us with information about thailand on every leg of the journey which caused for an exceptional guide. My main worry before going on the tour was that it would feel like a school trip but Lee personally helped me plan other activities on days where I chose to do something different to the group. This helped to make me feel like I still had independence but also the structure of the guided tour. Another instance where lee went above and beyond was when my cocktail never arrived during the group drinks. Lee personally chipped some of his own money in to buy me a new drink which he didn’t need to do but was very much appreciated. Lee treated everyone in our group equally & was patient with certain members when they where being more “difficult”. By the end of the tour, everyone else in my group agreed that lee was more of a best friend than a tour guide. The overall organisation and itinerary of the group was really good however this couldn’t have been achieved without lee, he is a credit to the company and deserves recognition.

Lee did an amazing job organising/ helping, keeping me informed on all the activities, very positive attitude and such a joy to have as a group leader!
Overall this trip was great, and other than Koh Sok accommodation, I would recommend to family/ friends in the future!
