7 Day Norway Itinerary, incl. Bergen and Oslo
A grand 7-day route covers 204km of Sognefjord, from Bergen's UNESCO Bryggen to Oslo. Highlights include the dramatic Flåmsbana railway's 20 tunnels, stays at historic Kviknes Hotel Balestrand, and guided tours of Frogner Park.

- Day 1
Bergen
Take the airport shuttle to your hotel after landing at Bergen International Airport. Book the shuttle ahead since taxis cost a lot. The Clarion Hotel Admiral or similar hotels in central Bergen work well. A previous visitor mentioned: "The hotels were very good quality, particularly the huge self-service breakfast spreads - perfect fuel for long days of exploring."

- Day 2
Bergen Exploration
Start with the 10:00 AM walking tour through Bryggen wharf, a UNESCO site. You'll see the colorful Hanseatic buildings, Mary's Church and the fish market. For better photos and smaller crowds, ride the Fløibanen funicular up Mount Fløyen in late afternoon. If interested, join the 3-hour food tour at 15:00 to sample local foods.

- Day 3
Bergen to Balestrand
- Day 4
Balestrand & Fjærland
Book the half-day trip to Fjærland in advance. You'll visit Bøyabreen and Supphellebreen glaciers and the Norwegian Glacier Museum. A traveler shared: "The boat trip through Fjærland fjord was incredible - the steep mountains meeting the emerald water created the most dramatic scenery I've ever seen."

Norway's cultural heritage comes alive over 7 days, featuring Oslo's Viking Ship Museum, Myrdal's mountain station, Flåm's village, Balestrand's glaciers, and Bergen's Bryggen. The trip includes Flåmsbana railway journey and Sognefjord cruising.

- Days 1-2
Oslo
Start your Norway adventure with two full days in Oslo. The city center is easy to walk around, with Karl Johan's street serving as your main reference point. "The panoramic Oslo tour was very well organized—I saw so much of this beautiful city in a short time." Get the 24-hour Oslo Pass for free public transport and entry to main attractions like Akershus Castle and the Nobel Peace Center. Visit Holmenkollen Ski Jump first thing in the morning to beat the crowds. Bring good walking shoes since you'll cover a lot of ground.

- Day 3
Oslo to Balestrand via Flåm Railway
Take the early morning train (7:00 AM) from Oslo to Myrdal. A helpful tip: You can book luggage transfer to Bergen. While you won't have your main bags until Bergen, it makes the journey much easier. The Flåm Railway is one of the world's steepest train rides, going through 20 tunnels with amazing waterfall views. Take the 15:30 ferry from Flåm to Balestrand through Aurlandsfjord and Sognefjord. "The travelling itself is part of the experience," one reviewer shared, "with panoramic views from the trains and cruises through the fjords."

- Day 4
Balestrand
Between June and September, take the half-day Fjærland trip to see Bøyabreen and Supphellebreen glaciers. Stop by the Norwegian Glacier Museum to learn about the region's unique geology. "Balestrand was absolutely magical," according to one traveler, "and the glacier tour was well worth it!" If you're on the premium package, make sure to have dinner at Kviknes Hotel. Just remember the dress code is smart casual, no outdoor gear.

- Days 5-6
Bergen
Take the afternoon express boat to Bergen, a UNESCO-listed city known as the gateway to the fjords. Start with a trip up the Fløibanen Funicular for great city views. The Bergen Card is good value, covering places like Haakon's Hall and the Norwegian Fisheries Museum. Take time to walk through the historic Hanseatic Bryggen district. Visit the fish market early to avoid crowds.

The scenic coastal drive to Kristiansund takes about 4 hours including a ferry crossing. Stop to see the harbor area and the historic Kvernes Stave Church from the 14th century.
