Istria Tours & Trips
Ever heard of Istria? This Croatian peninsula between Venice and Slovenia gets overlooked, but it’s time to explore! Picture coastal towns like Rovinj, Poreč, and Pula, truffle hunting inland, wine tasting, and spotting Venetian architecture everywhere. Istria beats the Dalmatian Coast for fewer crowds and food focus, and you’ll see Croatian-Italian influences mixed uniquely. If you’re a food fan, add Istria to your list.

The tour was very well organized overall. An enjoyable and interesting aspect of the hiking tour was that the trail for each day covered varied and different terrain- no 2 days were the same. The lodging was also varied and of consistent quality. Our favorite was Villa Borgo in Motovun. This tour offered a unique way to truly see and experience the Istrian Peninsula, up close and personal, on foot.

We would have preferred to spend the first night in Lucia or Potoroz, Slovenia where there was more choices of restaurants and shops. The hotel Lovac was fine, but there was nothing else around and we were there for two nights. All other hotels were very well chosen. They were nicely situated right were we wanted to be. On last cycling day of our trip we were on gravel roads for about 13kms. That was very worrisome and difficult on road bikes. We were told that we would be giving different directions, but that was not so.
