Guides were excellent, always on time and ready to answer our questions. The hotels were comfortable standard, and the heritage hotels added a unique charm to the Rajasthan leg. Our driver was punctual and careful, which helped with the long drives. Great memorable experiences.
Incredible Tour to IndiaMy husband and I have just returned from this amazing Alkof holiday private tour .Communication before and during the trip never faulted .Essential to have What’s app and e-sim but ant questions were answered within about 10 minutes . Internal flights information with boarding passes and driver at next destination were very clear .our focus was on wildlife but the accomodation throughout we were very happy with . We stayed Kavish Gir Lion resort in our spacious cottage room amoung a mango orchard .Near Khana and Bandavagarh NP our accomodation was with Aranyak . Throughout the trip we loved these spacious rooms and delicious Indian food . Very happy that most is vegetarian but there was always one meat option .- all buffet style . Our drivers were always friendly and we had some flexibility . Be prepared for lots of travel by road and flights …slowed down by cows or construction but all part of the memorable journey . We were pleased that we were at the NP gates early - usually 5:00 am waiting for the gates to open at 5:30 . Morning safaris were usually around 5 hrs but really the best time of the day in what was the hot dry weather ( 35 to 41 c ) just before monsoon time . We loved these spacious rooms heat and enjoyed our accomodation between safaris and a cup of chai tea - afternoon Safari usually from 3:30 pm . Throughout our tour we were always welcomed by our accomodation and local people sometimes wanting a chat Our trip began in Sanjay Ghandi NP - close to the city but with a fascinating history of Kanheri caves For wildlife / bird lovers we reaped the rewards for these early mornings Gir National Park - unbelievably dry with crisp leaf litter and parched trees then we were met with splashes of colour - peacocks ,indian rollers , pitta and black headed oriole . spotted chital dear at water holes , and crossing the road . After only an hour into the park our NP guide stopped near a troop of grey langurs sounding the alarm call and after 10 min a magestic tiger appeared and slowly crossed the road in front of our safari vehicle .What luck …a sight many people wait for years ! . We also spotted a leapard . Kanha NP - home the asiatic lion ..we were hopeful to see 1 but unbelievably our safari lion count was 26 Including cubs and some lions quite close . Here we also saw wild boar , a mongoose , Indian golden jackal and white thrashed kingfishers . Bandavgarh NP - more leafy .still very dry but there are patches of cooler Sal tree forests , open plain meadows and areas of rocky outcrops . Another 6 tigers seen - further away from our first sighting . More dears , including Samba, Indian Gaur bison by the roadside , beautiful jungle owlet , scop owls , crested serpent eagle and Malabar pied hornbill . Great views of red necked and white backed vultures . Alkof and India made our trip memorable . Highly recommend Alkof and we will definitely return to Indian with this very reliable country . Just a few tips ..westerners bring extra tissues / toilet paper with you . We were advised ahead correctly by Alkof that mobile phones are not allowed to be used in NP in India .We had no problem as both enjoy photography with decent cameras . Recommend you take binoculars and a camera , There are camera fees but we only were asked to pay this at Gir .

Best time to visit Western India
- Fall / Autumn 2026
Autumn kicks off the main touring season in Western India. Gujarat's wildlife tours really shine now - conditions are just right for jeep safaris in Gir National Park to spot Asiatic lions. Our travelers love how the days mix nature and culture - you might start watching flamingos and cranes in the Little Rann of Kutch, then explore Ahmedabad's Calico Museum with its textile displays. Goa's weather turns perfect for mixing beach visits with cultural stops, and our guides know the best times for walking Old Goa's heritage areas and also exploring markets.

- Winter 2026 / 2027
Winter's cool weather makes it perfect for exploring Western India's cultural sites. Our most sought-after tours focus on Maharashtra's cave complexes. You can really take your time at Ajanta and Ellora during these months - the mild temperatures let you climb between cave levels while studying the Buddhist art and rock-cut temples. Our customers often mention how much they appreciate the guides who walk them through each carving and painting's history. From our Mumbai base, tours combine Elephanta Caves with city spots like the Gateway of India and Dhobi Ghat. Goa works nicely in winter too - you'll walk Portuguese colonial streets, check out the Museum of Christian Art and explore the Menezes Braganza house with its old furniture and book collections.

- Spring 2027
Spring keeps similar tour patterns going, with cave-temples still drawing visitors while temperatures stay pleasant. From Aurangabad, you can really dig into Buddhist history at Ajanta Caves - our travelers like getting photos of the detailed murals showing Buddha's life. Tours linking Mumbai with Aurangabad give you a mix of city life and ancient artwork. Goa's colonial tours work well in spring too - it's comfortable for walking through Old Goa's churches and spending time in the Solar Souto Maior mansion from 1585 with all its artifacts.
