What people love about touring Nova Scotia solo
- Canadian Maritimes Adventure
Tour was great but did not include Magnetic Hill in New Brunswick and they would not stop there when asked to as it is the most popular landmark there. Hotels and breakfasts seemed to worsen as the trip progressed. Halifax hotel was A1++++.Bus driver was great, tour guide was great, but talked alot. Only 2 optional excisions was not very good, a list dinner or a musical, would have liked to have seen one in every province, liked to have only stayed two nights in Halifax, and instead one night in beautiful New Brunswick instead of just driving through it. Was a good 7 day out east tour overall. Some free time which is good. Could have done without timely drops at a maple farm and a jam company but oh well.
- Highlights of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island
This tour director, Marina, was excellent -- organized, caring and efficient. She had to make some adjustments on the fly due to weather and other circumstances, but all went smoothly and we got everything that was promised and more. The bus (or "coach") was exceptionally comfortable (good legroom!) and gave good views of surroundings. (A tiny quibble -- it would be nice if the sound system allowed the use of earphones when videos are played so you don't have to listen if you don't want to.) The driver was pleasant and good at the actual driving, but perhaps needed training as he appeared to require close supervision by the tour director. All of the hotels were clean, comfortable and well located, but the Holman Grand in Charlottestown was a standout. The location guides were all very good and the stops were well chosen. I feel that I got an excellent overview of Bar Harbor, Nova Scotia, and PEI. Personally I could have used a little more free time and less emphasis on meals, but I imagine that the majority preferred the schedule as it was. The ferry trip from Bar Harbour to Yarmouth was unfortunate, as the seas were rough and many people got sick. I was okay but it was a long 3 hours. However, in better weather this could be a highlight. The Tatoo in Halifax was spectacular. My only slight issue with the tour company was that communication from the head office was sparse. We paid our money months ago and got no further information until a few days before the tour began, when we were mailed a letter which told us the name of the tour director and the hotels, but very little else. There was a last minute change to the hotel for the starting and ending point, probably for the better, but it was inconvenient for me as I was a flying in to Bangor and instead of a free hotel shuttle I had an expensive taxi ride to Ellsworth. If I had know earlier I might have modified my travel plans and flown in to Bar Harbour. Overall I felt that the tour was mostly geared to those folks taking the bus up from Connecticut with little attention to those flying in from longer distances (other than by Marina, who was as helpful as she was able). This was not made clear in the listing on Tourradar where I chose and booked the tour. Nevertheless, the tour was good value and very good quality and overall a great experience.
- Wonders of the Bay of Fundy
Very good tour. Excellently organized.
