13 Day Southern Europe Itinerary, incl. Rome and Madrid
Rome to Nice reveals 13 iconic locations over 8 days. Vatican City, Florence's Duomo, and Saint-Tropez's harbor shine under expert English-speaking guides. Quality accommodation at Ergife Rome and Four Points Sheraton ensures comfort throughout.

- Days 1-3
Rome
Give yourself three full days to discover Rome. Book Vatican Museum tickets online and arrive by 8:30 AM to avoid crowds. Spend your first afternoon walking through historic Trastevere's cobblestone streets. Day 2 is for Imperial Rome's main sites like the Colosseum and Forum. The hop-on-hop-off bus works well for getting oriented but skip the midday traffic rush. Use day 3 for a trip to either Pompeii in winter or Capri in summer.

- Days 4-6
Tuscany Region
Head through Umbria to Tuscany. Stop at Orvieto and take the funicular up instead of walking. Stay near Siena's Piazza del Campo. Visit the medieval town of San Gimignano before continuing to Florence. You'll need two full days here. Spend one day exploring the historic center and Uffizi Gallery (book tickets ahead) and another seeing the Duomo and Michelangelo's David at the Accademia.

- Days 7-8
French Riviera
- Days 9-10
Barcelona
Travel through Provence and stop at the Pont du Gard Roman aqueduct. Spend your first Barcelona day seeing Gaudí's amazing architecture. As one visitor shared: "Early morning at Sagrada Familia is magical - the light through the stained glass creates a kaleidoscope effect you won't see later in the day." Use your second day to walk Las Ramblas and the Gothic Quarter.

- Days 11-13
Madrid

What people love about 2-week France and Italy tours
- Rome, Tuscany, Côte d Azur, Provence and Spain
As a solo traveler, I was well looked after. Had an amazing tour guide in France. Lucas was knowledgeable in the history and geography of France and super funny! Went to many fantastic places, saw stunning sights and met some great people.
- European Splendour (End London)
Organised & very professional
- Tour du Mont Blanc TMB Circuit
Fantastic tour in every way! Our lovely guide Chiara was exceptional. We were lucky with perfect weather for the whole trip which really set off the magnificent views and made the walking even more pleasurable. The hotel accommodation was superb for the most part, definitely much better than staying in refugios, and the meals were mostly great. The necessary bus transfers in Italy could be a bit chaotic, but nothing the company had any control over.
