Start in Budapest and get settled before your evening welcome meeting. If you arrive early, visit the Széchenyi Thermal Baths. They open at 6 AM and are quietest before 9 AM. A previous visitor advises: "The thermal baths were incredible, but bring your own towel and flip-flops - rentals can be pricey."

Begin in Budapest. Visit the Castle District early morning to avoid crowds. On your second day, take a 2-hour drive to Hollókó, a UNESCO-listed village known for its traditional Hungarian architecture. Continue another 1.5 hours to Eger, where you can explore Ottoman minarets and sample wines in the Valley of Beautiful Women.

High Tatras Mountains
Drive 3 hours through Tokaj wine country and stop for a wine tasting. Continue to Slovakia's High Tatras mountains. Take warm layers even in summer since mountain temperatures change quickly. For the best views of Poland and Slovakia, ride the cable car to Lomnický štít peak in the morning to avoid afternoon storms. The round trip takes about 2.5 hours.

Kraków & Surroundings
Visit the Wieliczka Salt Mine, located 135m underground. Wear good walking shoes for the 800 steps down. You can take a lift back up. Spend your afternoon in Kraków's Old Town. The next day, take a morning tour of Wawel Castle and St. Mary's Basilica, then try making pierogi. A recent visitor shared: "Making pierogi with a local family was the highlight - they taught us the trick of getting the dough just thin enough without breaking."
