  • Days 1-2

    Lima

    Start in the Miraflores district. Visit Plaza Mayor and the San Francisco Monastery's catacombs in the historic center. Take an afternoon food tour to experience Lima's famous cuisine. Get to Huaca Pucllana right when it opens at 9 AM to avoid crowds.

    
  • Days 3-4

    Amazon Jungle

    Fly to Puerto Maldonado and take a 40-minute boat ride to your jungle lodge. Look for caiman on night tours. Visit Lake Sandoval in the early morning when the 3km walk is cooler. Quick-dry clothes are essential in the constant humidity.

    Cusco

    Take time to adjust to Cusco's high altitude (3,399m). Rest on your first day and drink plenty of water. Visit Sacsayhuaman Fortress later in the day when tourist numbers drop. Wear good walking shoes for the uneven ground around the 100-ton stone blocks.

    Sacred Valley

    Start at Pisac Market in the morning to see locals selling fresh produce. Visit Ollantaytambo Fortress and climb up for valley views. Local farmers still use the ancient agricultural terraces.

    Machu Picchu

    Catch the early train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes. Take the first bus to Machu Picchu at 5:30 AM to see the site before it gets busy. The bus takes about 25 minutes on mountain roads.

    
  • Days 9-11

    Cusco & Lake Titicaca

    Spend a day in Cusco before taking the bus to Puno. Pack warm clothes for La Raya pass at 4,335m. Visit the floating Uros Islands and Taquile Island on Lake Titicaca. Stay in Puno overnight to handle the altitude before going to Bolivia.

    Copacabana & La Paz

    Enter Bolivia through Copacabana and spend time at Lake Titicaca. Finish in La Paz where you can see the city by cable car. Be careful with the 3,660m altitude and walk slowly uphill.
