21 Days in Argentina, incl. Salta and Ushuaia
Argentine wonders await on this 21-day route through 9 major destinations from Salta to Ushuaia. Mendoza's wineries, Bariloche's Circuito Chico, El Chalten's Mount Fitz Roy trails, and Tierra del Fuego National Park connected by comfortable overnight buses.
- Days 1-4
Salta and the Northwest
Begin in colonial Salta to explore the Humahuaca Gorge and salt flats. Visit the salt flats early before 10 AM for the best photos. Pack altitude sickness pills and stay hydrated for the high-altitude drive that reaches 13,615 feet. Visit the seven-colored hills of Purmamarca at sunset for the most impressive views.
- Days 5-7
Mendoza Wine Country
Take a 16-18 hour overnight bus to Mendoza. Stay downtown to easily access wine tours. Visit Maipú Valley wineries in the afternoon to avoid crowds. The Aconcagua Valley trip starts at 7:15 AM. Pack layers since mountain temperatures change quickly throughout the day.

Bariloche Lakes District
After another overnight trip you'll reach Bariloche. Start with the Circuito Chico route to get your bearings and see amazing lake views. On the Isla Victoria boat tour sit on the right side to see the unique cinnamon-colored Arrayanes Forest. Bring motion sickness pills if needed.

El Chaltén Hiking
The long bus ride to El Chaltén leads to Los Glaciares National Park's trails. Start the Laguna de los Tres hike early in the morning. The last hour up to Mt. Fitz Roy's base is steep but the views make it worthwhile. Good hiking boots are essential on the rocky paths.

El Calafate & The Glaciers
A short bus takes you to El Calafate. Book the 7 AM Perito Moreno Glacier summer tour to avoid crowds. For Torres del Paine bring Chilean pesos (about $38) and your passport for the border crossing.
- Days 18-21
Ushuaia
The final stretch requires a full day of bus travel through Rio Gallegos to reach Earth's southernmost city. Book the Sea Lion Colony boat trip early since spots fill up fast. Pack warm clothes for Tierra del Fuego National Park even in summer. The wind is strong all year.

- Days 1-2
Buenos Aires & Iguazu Falls
Fly to Iguazu Falls from Buenos Aires (3 hours). Book morning flights to get the most out of your time at the falls. Start with the Brazilian side which gives you the best overall views. Get there early to avoid crowds and the hot afternoon sun. You'll need about 2-3 hours for the Brazilian circuit.

Iguazu Falls & Bariloche
See the Argentine side of Iguazu Falls by walking the upper, lower and Devil's Throat paths. Take the eco-train to save your energy since the walking paths add up to about 7km. Next stop is Bariloche, your entry point to the Lake District. Try to stay in the Llao Llao area for stunning mountain views.
- Days 5-6
Bariloche Region
Start with the morning Circuito Chico tour to get your bearings then take a boat to Victoria Island. The next day drive the Seven Lakes Route to San Martin de los Andes. It's about 3.5 hours each way so leave early before the mountain roads get busy.
- Days 7-9
El Calafate & Los Glaciares
Take a 2.5-hour flight to El Calafate. Visit Perito Moreno Glacier at 9 AM to see it in the morning light and hear the first ice breaks of the day. Take the Glaciares Gourmet cruise to get close to Spegazzini and Upsala glaciers. Bring layers since the temperature changes a lot on the water.
- Days 10-12
Ushuaia & Tierra del Fuego
Start with a Beagle Channel cruise in Ushuaia to get oriented. Take the first End of the World Train to Tierra del Fuego National Park the next day to beat the crowds. Pack warm waterproof clothes for the Lakes Off-Road trip since the weather changes quickly.

Puerto Madryn & Peninsula Valdes
Fly to Trelew and drive an hour to Puerto Madryn. If you're visiting from June to November go whale watching in the morning when the sea is calmer. Visit Punta Tombo early to see penguins at their most active.
- Days 16-20
Buenos Aires Exploration
Take a city tour to get your bearings in Buenos Aires. See a tango show at El Querandi in San Telmo for a more personal experience than the bigger venues. Take a trip to Tigre Delta and spend time exploring Palermo and Recoleta at your own speed.

Professionalism, expertise, personal care and interest; I found these and more from the first day that I emailed Say Hueque about a five week holiday in Argentina. Patricio devised and arranged a fantastic itinerary; and Augustina Julia followed up with exceptional assistance while in-country. I can only thank them both for giving us such a wonderful holiday. We did meet other people travelling with Say Hueque while in Argentina and they too sang the praises of this company. Julia and Patricio - we really did have a wonderful holiday, and do thank you both so much for everything. It was all great. The only thing (which is very minor) would be to let people know that for group excursions, that the noted pick-up time is the time that the bus starts it's round of pick-ups and may not reach your hotel until a little later. In the beginning we were getting worried that we were forgotten as the bus would not be there at the designated time. After a few times of this we realised that the bus just had other people to pick up first. It is a minor detail, but I think it would be helpful for clients to know this from the beginning. Favourite places - so many beautiful places in Argentina - but I think we both loved the penguin rookery in Haberton (photo attached - I love the way he seems to be looking at the fantastic scenery), and especially the hikes around El Chalten. We were so lucky with the weather which was glorious. Photo attached. Sorry that the photos are sidewise - hope you can put them the right side up!
- Adventures in Patagonia + Iguazu Extension
This was a bucket list trip for me, and it exceeded all of my expectations. The itinerary was great, and the scenery/wildlife were unbelievable. Our tour guide (Andres) was superb, and I really enjoyed the hikes (tho I opted out of the big Mt FitzRoy one). I knew this trip was going to cover a lot of ground, but even our travel days were enjoyable. I would highly, highly recommend this experience!
