Then, I had been waiting almost 3 years for this trip to happen (it was my precovid trip), and can finally say it was truly a once in a life-time adventure. If you know Gadventures, Intrepid and the likes you won´t be dissapointed.
By the time Covid hit I didnt ask for a refund on this one, just because it was and still is, the best offer + the 14 days trip including more activities/places, Im one of those that wants to make the most of my trips.
Kyoto and Koyasan are simply remarkable.
Happy to congratulate the team on how well organized everything was. Yes, there are very early mornings, and the tour is tight because it is packed with things to do. If you can keep up, this is the one for you.
Also thanks to this tour I did things I would have completely skipped if I had organized it myself such as sushi making class, kendo class, koyasan. I had an amazin time.

A jam-packed and well thought-out tour of Japan. Had a brilliant time with a great bunch of people which I’ll stay in touch with in the future - the tour was very social. Had a brilliant time with a great bunch of people which I’ll stay in touch with in the future - the tour was very social. The tour guides were friendly and gelled very well with the group. Additionally the service and communication before the tour was excellent and a lot better than the bigger tour operators.
Some aspects that could be improved:
- Having a Japanese local who’s an expert of the history and culture included in the tour. Every other day there was a class/excursion with a Japanese local, but I think having a permanent member of the tour would be more immersive.
- Pushing back the wake up times by an hour where possible. The trip was quite exhausting (which is inevitable with a packed itinerary and occasional nights out), but I would have valued this over less time in the evening for some days.
- maybe wouldn’t have spent a night in Takayama due to the transport times, and had another night in Osaka instead (for the 10 day tour)
- if there’s events/festivals at certain times of year, the itinerary could be amended if these are valuable experiences
Overall a great trip and one that I would recommend!

I felt confident in Adam to take us to the best places and his generosity continued when he still helped me after the tour had finished in how to get around japan. The included activities were excellent and I was very impressed by the little I had to contribute to the tour financially. In comparison to other tours that I had been on, I would say one life is one of the best I have been on and would recommend to anyone looking to travel in a Group.

This tour gives a good taster of Japan...the crazy neon lights of Tokyo and Osaka and the beautiful and serene Hakone where you will see Mt. Fuji. An absolutely stunning place. And not forgetting the beautiful shrines and temples in Kyoto. I never thought I would enjoy karaoke but this was so much fun and ended the trip perfectly! Our tour guide Adam was always full of energy and picked us all up when we were flagging! He was really knowledgeable and had facts about pretty much everything Japan related! Really pleased with this trip and would highly recommend it.

Early starts meant we avoided the other tourists at the famous attractions. It’s totally worth spending thay bit extra and doing the 14 day tour as this included some of my highlights of the whole trip. Adam was an amazing guide, so organized and very knowledgable about Japan, and he was great fun too (his only downfall was his dad jokes)! The 14 day itinerary was a perfect mix of vibrant modern city, traditional Japanese culture and nature. I loved every moment of the trip and will never forget this experience. Thank you again one life for my second different but equally incredible tour. Will be booking my next one very soon...

It was a blast and it was fast pa…If you were like me six months ago and looking at this tour thinking it is too good to be true - I encourage you to take the leap! I can't say enough about this tour. It was a blast and it was fast paced - every day was busy, whether it was a travel day or a walk up to see monkeys! Japan is not known for its vegetarian-friendly food, but I was quite impressed on how most meals were adjusted to suit us and not leave us out of the bonding time. We were left on our own a few times, but it gave us a chance to find some amazing food in a smaller group. Highlights of the trip for me were Kyoto and Takayama - both beautiful to see, historic, and neat to wander around. Accommodations were exactly how you'd want them to be - comfortable enough for sleep but that's all you'll be seeing them for, so no need for anything lavish. They were very clean and pretty comfy.
Can't say enough kind words about our guide, Adam - kept us all wrangled and was incredibly knowledgeable and approachable.
I will be using One Life again - can't wait til next time!

The tour leader Adam did a stellar job in clear communications, and moved the tour group from city to city, changing transports, whereas every one was on time, which is amazing! The accomodation was also good. Though mostly in hostels, but all with comfortable & clean beds, good showers, and within walking distance to trains stations. The only thing that could possibly be done a bit more is Osaka/ Hakone itinerary. We only did one night street food crawl (very exciting though) / Karaoke, no time to explore what it has to offer. As to Hakone, if the weather is not clear, can not see Mt. Fuji. Not very excited about Pirate ship either, but these all minor.

Not the case here. We had a great diverse group and Adam was a great tour guide. He balanced a packed tour with the right amount of fun and education and it went incredibly smoothly. I’d say the only downside was some of the optional activities included weren’t actually mentioned for example the first day with the optional activity to see the sky tree in Tokyo. Some of the activities which are mandatory on the itinerary I feel could have been made better like the food tour in Osaka I felt like we were short changed with the amount of food provided. Didn't expect having to go halves on all the food options, could we at least have one whole taiyaki each? Also the karaoke on the last night should be changed to a local public karaoke session as the atmosphere and feel was just odd at the private place we had to go to. Would have had better options for drinks and prices at other places. (We had a previous karaoke night off the itinerary for someone’s birthday and it was a fun night with a great atmosphere! So to go from that to this was underwhelming)
Adam was an okay tour guide, but having been on previous tours with other companies, I was slightly disappointed as I didn’t feel the enthusiasm from him doing his job at times. He has a great sense of humour but this can communicate very differently across the group. Sometimes he was more focused on certain individuals than the group as a whole. As a group I felt like we should have got more guidance and care overall.
This trip as a whole was an amazing experience and the itinerary was jam packed full of wonders. Thank you for creating a wonderful trip, I look forward to seeing all future tours one life will provide.

Our tour guide, Adam Beadle was one of the best guides to have l. We knew exactly what we needed to know well in advance, the insights into the arts and culture, and overall good chat.
I would go on this tour again in a heartbeat, if you are thinking about booking this, don't even think twice !

The group were wonderful, we all left as friends and their company helped make the trip what it was.... bloody fantastic!
So many highlights but feel me the afternoon doing the Kendo was just brilliant, having a martial art background I appreciated exactly what we were doing, who with and the location.
I would not hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone who has adventure in their blood..I might be 50, but I still kicked ass on Street Fighter!

Other highlights included a temple stay, sushi making, Kendo class, street food tour...and far too many more to list! Our guide Adam really looked after us and made the whole trip fun as well as getting us involved in the Japanese life. His knowledge of Japan is almost as extensive as his collection of party shirts!

Our Tour Guide Adam was amazing funny and very helpful and great to talk too. Best accommodations we stay was the temple hotel and the Hakone Guesthouse. Favorite activities were the sushi and Kendo classes and visit the Golden Pavilion in Kyoto. Unfortunate the shower available in the hostel were not enough for all guest especially for the humidity in July where you sweat all the time. The mattresses in Japan are to thine I could fell the wood planks of the beds, and I woke up every time with back pain. I would highly recommend One life Adventure to everyone who like to see all lot of Japan in a short time. If you have more time and money go for the 14 days Japan trip you would not be disappointed.

This tour gives you a really good experience for what Japan is truly like, with it's in depth culture, its history and their respectful and traditional ways. None of it would have been possible if we didn't have someone like Adam as our tour guide, fantastic guy made everyone in the group feel involved, nothing was too much for him and he went above and beyond to give us this experience. Definitely an amazing experience and although I was nervous about travelling solo for the first time, my worries were put at rest as soon as I joined the tour, very social, fun and friendly group of fellow travellers! Adam was excellent, offered so many suggestions and was extremely knowledgeable about Japan and its history and culture. Nothing was too much for Adam, he was extremely friendly and approachable (I’ll admit some of his jokes were pretty funny) he ensured everyone was having a great time! I like the way the itinerary is laid out and the fact that OneLife gets you to attractions before the mass of tourists which means you can properly see the attractions. Overall and excellent tour, would not hesitate to do another tour with OneLife again soon!!

The itinerary packed so many amazing experiences into the 10 days and was extremely well organized. It hits on all of the must-see places for a first trip to Japan and is a great value for the price. The accommodations are all very clean and conveniently located. The guide takes all of the thinking of the transportation to make sure you can fully relax and enjoy the trip. Our guide, Adam, managed to pull off what few guides can do - he was a perfect balance between a professional, knowledgeable, and respectful guide and an extremely fun person to travel with (with plenty of cheesy dad jokes along the way). It's obvious that he has tons of experience leading tours, as he always had everything planned perfectly. He takes pride in making sure that each and every person on the tour has a great experience, and I'm confident that all 17 of us on our tour had a blast.

Adam, the tour guide, is the best guide that I have ever had and definitely made the tour a great experience, it wouldn't have been the same without him. I also lucked out with such an incredible group that made the trip extra special. The cities we went to all had their unique charms about them, but I have to say that Kyoto and Takayama were two of my favorites. The food is yummy and the country is as beautiful as its people. Overall, 10/10! Wish we could’ve stayed in Osaka just a little bit longer, but time flies when you’re singing your heart out and having fun! Can’t wait to visit again!

Transportation- Very happy to have a wonderful guide explain and lead us through all the transport which can be busy and confusing.
Accommodation- Most hostels were great. Having a roommate within the group also helps give a chance to bond and organize plans. Staying in a temple was an amazing experience as well.
Meals (included)- Amazing experience that we get to share great food and bond as a group. To get more, I would recommend going out your own way to find your own tasty morsels.
Guide- Absolutely great guy. He has been knowledgeable and helpful in leading us on an amazing journey. We did not have to worry about small details because Adam was always there to make sure we had a great time and a memorable life experience. He is fun, funny, and a great lad.

Everything was incredible, cities, temples, nature, food, activities and people! There's quite a lot of walking involved so please bear it in mind when packing, you can find all you need in Japan so don't worry too much! :)
We had the luck to share this experience with 3 One life guides, the speedy walker Joe, the karaoke master Adam and the funniest Simen aka Lady Oscar that have all made this experience unforgettable! <3

What a trip! I can honestly say that I would leave again tomorrow on another One Life tour if I could. My group was absolutely brilliant - everyone got along very well and our exceptional guides were …What a trip! I can honestly say that I would leave again tomorrow on another One Life tour if I could. My group was absolutely brilliant - everyone got along very well and our exceptional guides were as much a part of the team as the travellers. Outside circumstances meant that we were fortunate enough to have a few guides throughout the trip. Joe and Adam’s knowledge of Japan was fantastic and it made moving from one location to another relatively seamless. Which is especially impressive given my complete lack of a sense of direction. Simon kept our group constantly entertained and put everyone at ease with one another from day one. I had a back injury sustained after booking the trip (but before departure) that did give me trouble especially because it was a very active tour. Despite being in pain I enjoyed every day and every activity, which is a real tribute to Adam and the crew.
If I can give some advice to people thinking of taking this trip it would be:
1.Do it!

3. Pack light! There is a fair amount of movement and it will be in your best interests to not be carrying a lot of gear. There are cheap laundry facilities at every stop so packing less is not an issue. Plus it’ll give you more room for souvenirs.
I also could not recommend our guides highly enough. Thanks to Joe for his organisation skills and great restaurant suggestions. Thanks to Simon for the entertainment, chilled ambience, and assistance in scoring Pikachu (Charizard Henry) from a claw machine. And thank you very much to Adam for managing to find humour in me being able to get lost on circular tracks/straight lines, providing great insights, Marvel references, and making me comfortable enough to relax and take in the incredible sights. You guys are legends and I hope to see you again on another tour.

Best to use a backpack if possible and sometimes escalator in stations won’t be working but if you have a great group like we did then everyone helps each other out. Our age range was 18-50 (but mainly around the 26-36 bracket) but because everyone was in the same mindset we had a ball and really bonded as a group. Pack light- you really don’t need all that stuff and there are laundry facilities. Food is excellent, country is excellent and One Life is excellent. Due to personal and logistical reasons we experienced 3 guides (sometimes at the same time) and so I can speak for 3 of them and they would all get 5/5. I would definitely use One Life again. The price includes so much that other tour groups put as extra. For the price this tour was above and beyond. Our flights were the most expensive thing. The suggested spending money guide they give you about two weeks before was spot on. We came back with $10!

The itinerary worked perfectly with activities and free afternoons timed well. I honestly can’t think of anything to complain about. Travelling around was so easy and stress free and we still got to experience the best part of a local train journey. I was blown away by how this trip was organized so I could actually relax and enjoy the best of Sri Lanka without having my nose in a lonely planet the whole time. Adam our guide/history buff was super helpful, knowledgeable and didn’t inundate us with rules or strict schedule - it flowed so well and the days werent overly packed. He always gave us options and genuinely cared about making sure we all got what we wanted out of the trip (oh and he knows ALL the best photo opps) . Having some free time was also super appreciated. I also enjoyed the variety of the tour - staying in all different types of accommodation , traveling by train/tuk tuk/bus , and eating at a mix of buffets/fancier places/ local roti shops. I felt I couldn’t have planned the trip better myself, and to do it alongside a small group of awesome people only added to my experience. Our guides even got me a birthday cake and made me feel super special on my birthday! Each planned activity was well thought out and vetted - from the time of day to avoid crowds down to the quality of the companies they partner with- it never felt like they just chose the cheapest option. This tour and One Life have changed the way I view tours and I will most likely book another one with this company in phillipines next year! Keep up the great work !!!!

Also what was great were that they were present for all activities. What can I say about this tour ... it’s a must do!!
From elephant safaris, traditional cooking, hikes, temples, tuk tuks, fun trivia, beach cricket, fun bars, great food, awesome accomodation and so much more.
Would 100% recommend this to any mate of mine. Guy or girl it’s a must do.

Elephant safari - they are literally outside the Ute. And you get some amazing photos of these wild animals. One bull put his truck inside the Ute but the driver moved on quickly, so no danger. But wow what an experience!!
Ella rock- you get a free day in Ella, and a few of us hiked up too the lookout in the morning. Bit of a hard hike, not for the faint of heart. But the views where sick !!!!
Lots of instragam shots can be taken.
And walking along the railway lines to get to the hike spot was pretty fun as well.

The tour was the perfect mix of culture, adventure and relaxation - hikes, bike rides, cooking classes, safaris, temples and lazy days on the beach. Initially I was a bit hesitant to do the hikes and the bike rides as I am not fit nor an active person, however our guides Adam and Ravi encouraged me to do the activities at my own pace. In the end I managed all 3 hikes and the bike ride!
Our guides Adam and Ravi were very knowledgeable about Sri Lanka and ensured we took as much away as we could. They were also quite accommodating to the different people in the group - any issues which arose during the tour was swiftly addressed.
Majority of the accommodation was nice and clean apart from one hotel where the bedsheets and towels were stained. The group has mentioned this to Adam and he will address the matter for future tours.
All in all an incredible experience of Sri Lanka and it was all thanks to One Life Adventures, Adam and Ravi.

The itinerary was incredibly varied and I felt like I saw all different parts of Sri Lanka. Mostly accomodation was great except for the hostel in kandy and a hotel towards the end of the trip where the bed sheets and towels and the room overall were pretty dirty. I thought the glamping night was great ( it is more like a small hut than a tent). The coach was always nice and clean but that does mean your snacks get thrown out if left overnight on the bus! Both Adam and Ravi were very friendly guides and quite approachable however I thought some more historical information could have been offered as it was good when asked for. I also thought the guides could have been slightly more responsible in always informing the group of meeting times and making sure members of the group were all ok after walks (one girl had asthma and should have been checked on after a walk that she struggled to do). Otherwise guides were helpful and knowledgable. I think ending the tour in negombo should be considered as everyone either stayed in negombo or went to the airport following the tour and all had to get separate transportation. Communication prior to the trip could also have been improved as I asked multiple questions through the one life website and never got a response. Prices of set meals could also be included in the itinerary. Overall great experience that showed all the beauty of Sri Lanka! Thanks!

I also came on the trip with a broken wrist and Adam couldn’t of been more accommodating to make sure I still got the same experience, like organising a tuk tuk because I was unable to ride a bike. The trip had a mixture of different activities to really get the full Sri Lankan experience, and I feel that that is exactly what I got.

This tour had all of the above. Would I feel very confident recommending this tour - yes! Are there improvements to be made - yes; the accommodation in some places (the hostel in Kandy had bait boxes, the hotel in Hikkaduwa needed a good clean scrub) and lack of communication about the room setups - we thought we booked a twin only to find that an extra roll out bed was put in our room - we hadn't been told we were in a triple in advance! The experiences side of things was faultless and fantastic - the 3 hikes had stunning views, the guides (Adam & Ravi) are very patient, the cookery class was a good laugh, the train journey so picturesque, the company they use for whale watching was the most eco friendly and respectful company compared to the others we saw gunning for the whales (as a result we got up closer to a blue whale than the other boats we had seen as the whale wasn't running away from us), The safari was fantastic, the tea plantation educational and the tuk tuk tour of Kandy hilariously good fun! All in all we've had a fantastic time and it's a tour well worth doing! The tour guides knowledge was also very good and insightful. The bus was very comfortable and even had USB charging points!

Another highlight was the walk up Ella Rock - this isn't part of the group activities but well worth doing on your free morning. The only issue was with accommodation information before the tour started - wasn't clear that the assumption was that couples would be in separate shared rooms unless you paid extra, but the website I think has now been updated.

Accommodation and transportation was very comfortable and in some cases better than expected! Our group size of 16 was a good mix allowing for a fun and social experience! Our tour guides Adam and Ravi were fantastic! Incredibly helpful, fun and always making sure everyone was getting the best experience possible. The group trivia and end of tour cricket match was particularly fun! They even organised a surprise birthday cake for my partner who had his birthday during the tour :)

When I had an issue with my room Adam was able to quickly help me to book my own room for each of the hotels. Before I started the trip I was worried about the hikes that was planned due to being afraid of heights and having asthma but Ravi and Adam ensured me that I’d be able to complete them which i did and no one was ever left behind on a hike as each guide either stayed at the front or back. The accommodation we stayed in was really good and the locations where excellent, for example when they say you are on the beach, you are literally meters from the sea! It was really easy to budget for this trip as all the activities are included as are all your breakfasts and a few additional meals. I will definitely recommend this tour for anyone who is wanting to visit Sri Lanka!

I also love that we gave a flat £10 tip donation at the start of the tour which the guides handed out for services along the way. I’ve felt harassed for tips on other brands of tours that always left me a little resentful at the end, so I really appreciated this method!

I really appreciated the ideal amount of information about the country by our tour guides and some of the information e.g. about the right manners in temples was useful for me on my next travels. The food was an experience in itself and I won’t forget the smells of all the lotus flowers in the temple of the sacred tooth. Adam & Riaz did a great job in guiding us through the country. I always felt taken care of and I always had an idea of the optional activities for the next day.

Hikkaduwa was also amazing, sitting by the beach relaxing and swimming in the beautiful water. Adam was a great guide, very knowledgeable on the history of Sri Lanka. He was also very kind, no one missed out on any of the more challenging activities, because he stayed with them, encouraging them to keep going! The driver and assistants were very helpful, carrying our bags on and off the bus and super friendly! I loved that there was organized experiences, but also down time were we could explore ourselves. I would definitely recommend this trip!

The itinerary was so well thought out - really appreciated the fact that it’s planned to make sure that you beat the crowds, we set off early sometimes but it meant we really did 1. Avoid the intensity of the heat when hiking (defs a win) and 2. The sites themselves weren’t completely overrun by other tourists. Also loved the fact that we seemed to really be immersed in local culture and communities throughout many of our activities there, e.g the campsite you stay on gives back to the local village community and the dinner at the homestay was cooked by a local family (and the food was delicious!)
Also our guides Adam and Rias did an amazing job throughout the trip..Rias, the local guide, provided a lot of information and history about Sri Lanka and Adam did a great job as leader/‘comedian’/bus DJ/quizmaster and generally being ridiculously patient with our constant (repeated) questions about what we were doing next! Ha.
Memorable moments included doing the optional massage post hiking Sigirya - (trust me, do it, it’s a definite experience), drinking delicious chai on the train, seeing the wild elephants in the national park and also being lucky enough to see a giant turtle laying it’s eggs on the beach..!
Sri Lanka is a stunning country and this tour enabled me to see so much in such a short time, would recommend to anyone! I just wish I could have spent longer in SL is all I can say..! :)

After an initial admin error with room bookings, Adam was super helpful in making sure we were comfortable and he was always striving to get the best service for the group.
Ravi provided really clear and insightful explanations at points of interest which meant so much more that had we just stopped to look around them.
We got to see the best of such a diverse country, stayed in better accommodation, had great transport and had many more included meals and activities than I expected.
Having done several group tours before, One Life Adventures were definitely a step above the others. Excellent value for money, when they take you to activities, these are included in the tour prices which is not only financially beneficial but also saves a lot of hassle!
Cant wait for my next One Life Adventure!

The blend of English tour guide (Adam) and Sri Lankan tour guide (Riaz) worked perfectly to give us a truly brilliant experince including the history, the different cultures of each place we visited, the customs of the country and of the people.
Personal highlight for me were sampling the delicious home cooked meals at the homestay’s and learning how to cook Sri Lankan food at the spice garden with fresh spices.
Be prepared for some long bus journeys to get from place to place but even those were made fun with trivia and lots of laughter to pass the time.
The whole trip for me, was amazing. I loved every second of it and I want to thank One Life for making it happen!

Just finished my second tour with One Life (this year!) and once again they have exceeded any expectations I could have had with this well thought out Sri Lanka tour. The country itself is beyond beau…Just finished my second tour with One Life (this year!) and once again they have exceeded any expectations I could have had with this well thought out Sri Lanka tour. The country itself is beyond beautiful and this tour gave us the best experience of this with a perfect blend of touristic activities such as hiking up Sigiriya Rock and seeing elephants at the national parks, to giving us an insight to Sri Lankan culture by visiting several iconic temples and experiencing some of the best Sri Lankan cuisine. The tour also gave sufficient free time to experience parts of Sri Lanka at your own pace or just relax on the beach/pool before the next activity. As always the accommodation was exceptional and One Life have clearly spent time making sure that the best accommodation was sourced for this tour. Our guide, Adam, (despite being a Chelsea fan) was an absolute legend! He clearly took great pride in teaching us about the culture and history of Sri Lanka and was extremely knowledgeable. He also went above and beyond to make sure that everyone was entertained, in particular, with his own quiz which ran throughout the tour. Unfortuntately, we had a few issues with the weather (obviously unavoidable), however, Adam made sure that this didn't have any impact on the tour and rearranged activities to make sure we didn't miss out on anything. We also had a local guide/head of transport, Rias, who again, was awesome and very knowledgable. He made sure that everything ran as smoothly as possible. Both Adam and Rias' focus was always to make sure that we were having the best experience. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who has a spare 12 days. I had the best time and made some lifetime friends. Thank you Adam, Rias and One Life!

Temples, impressive Sigirya rock with amazing views, stunning train ride to Ella, beautiful green tea plantations, stunning beaches on the south coast!
Adam our tour guide was excellent and really ensured that everyone in the group was happy and that we were having fun whilst seeing some great things! He always put a focus on our enjoyment and made it clear the different options we had in our free time and facilitated it so people could be part of the group when they wanted or be free to explore certain things on their own instead if they liked. We also had Riaz our Sri Lankan tour guide with us at all times who was equally fantastic and provided much local knowledge and advice!
The benefit of this tour is that all activities on the itinerary and all breakfasts are included, which I understand you don’t always get on other tours.
The accommodation was pretty good, 3 star style hotels, a really cool glamping experience and a couple of nights in decent hostels. The hotels all had pools too, which was great, although one pool was still under construction.
Food wise, there are many options in Sri Lanka. Seafood is great all over the country, especially by the coast! This tour has a lot of buffets in the first half of it. The homestay restaurant is amazing, as is the food you make at the cooking course, which is also a lot of fun with great hosts. The buffets are ok, probably not my favourite but there is always enough of something you will like with them as there is lots of choice!
It’s worth mentioning that the tour doesn’t include Adam’s peak, which is a fairly big climb, 5 hours walking. Definitely one for the hiking fans, but if you are keen then you may wish to add on time at the end to do it. Likewise if you want to head/stay at the beach and relax or do some surfing.
Overall a great experience, done with a company that cares ethically about the adventures and trail us tourists leave, and I’m very happy I did it!

The tour guides were awesome - and having both a local guide and one life guide really added to the trip!! They were super organised, knowledgeable about everything from the best food, the Sri lankan culture to essentials like changing money and doing laundry! IF you love nature, culture, adventure and spectacular scenery I highly recommend this tour!

I was picked up at the airport by tour guide Adam, transfer and hotel all organised and ready to check in. he introduced me to some people who were already there and recommended a very nice place for …I was picked up at the airport by tour guide Adam, transfer and hotel all organised and ready to check in. he introduced me to some people who were already there and recommended a very nice place for lunch. after the welcome dinner we were like a big family. stuck together for the next 12 days, we hiked, explored, played games on the bus rides (side note: I won the one life trivia :P), ate a lot of food, relaxed and laughed a lot. the local tour guide Ravi, Adam and Joe answered all our stupid questions and helped out with every query we had.
my personal highlights were the jeep safari, the train ride from kandy to ella and the pidurangala hike. amazing views and lots of nature.

The One Life Tour was such a great experience! I loved each and every day for different reasons. I loved each and every day for different reasons. Our guides Hugo and Adam felt like one of us, whilst always staying professional, helpful and super knowledgable- couldnt have asked for 2 better guys! Highlights for me were camping on a private island in Port Barton and our late night swim on the second night. The last few days were effected by rain but Hugo handled it like a pro and we have managed to do most as planned and improvised where possible to make up for other activities that the weather did not permit. This was my first solo travel experience and it has been so effortless and enjoyable thanks to such a great tour company (and thankfully, an amazing tour group)!

If you're a solo traveller looking for an unforgettable experience discovering some of the most beautiful beaches in Asia with an incredible group of people, ONE LIFE TOUR is highly recommended! We all got along so well, it feels more like an old group of friends going on a trip together. Our tour guide Adam and Hugo are one of the funniest, friendliest and best people you'll ever meet. I loved the fact that we got to learn so much about the Philippines history and culture! (Thanks to Adam) It's hard to pick my favourite part of the trip, everyday was amazing! But the snorkelling and island hopping are definitely up there! Don't think twice, just book the tour.. you won't regret it ;)

I was extremely impressed with the tour guides Hugo and Adam. They go above and beyond to make sure everyone is having THE BEST time.
Philippines is stunning and slightly different to the rest of Asia that I have done. Once you arrive in the philippines you will realise that everything runs on "Philippino time", which makes everything longer. The tour cuts all this out and the design of everything runs super smooth.
Highlights for me was definitely the beach camping, big fire on the beach with beers, the sky littered with stars..... all on a private beach.... just you. Waking up in the morning with the sea infront of you to the sunrise...... definitely one of them pinch yourself moments.
Maybe this OR the crystal clear blue waters on the turtle snorkelling....... the list goes on. All from port barton which is untouched and not affected by tourism.
Last night was the full moon party in el nido..... which you can imagine was a lot of fun too.
Whats also important is that its not too rushed, neither do you spend too long in each place..... the ten days works perfect and trying to cram in more in this time certainly wouldnt work.
So all in all 10/10..... which lets face it, is why these guys have a ridiculously good rating!

I have to thank for this the great group I was lucky to be a part of the tour guides Adam and Hugo have been absolutely amazing right from night one where they invited me out to dinner to meet them before the tour had even started :) and it has been nothing but laughs since then. They have both been extremely helpful and knowledgable, couldnt have asked for better tour guides to be honest.The Phillipines is incredibly beautiful with breath taking views that pictures cant do it justice, you must see for yourself !! there has been so many fun activities to take part in day and night. I highly recommend this tour to everyone alot is included and it is worth every penny :)

Dagarna börjar med ö hoppning i Port Barton och bland annat camping på en egen privat ö! Det finns aktiviteter överallt, snorkla, sola, bada eller bara slappna av i en hängmatta. Efter det bär det av mot El Nido där vi bland annat hade en heldag på en partybåt där vi åkte till Blue Lagoon vilket är allt man drömt om, vattnet är klart och i så många olika fina blågröna färger, man måste verkligen åka dit för att förstå hur vackert det är. Allt som allt är jag verkligen glad att jag gjorde denna resa, definitivt det bästa jag gjort och jag vill verkligen ge ett stort tack till guiderna och One life adventures som gjorde detta möjligt!
Booked this trip through a travel agent and haven't regret one second, the whole trip was fantastic! Fun and always positive guides makes for not a single boring moment. The islands we went to were amazing, and the water is exactly like you see it on all the dreamy pictures on the internet. The days start off with some island hopping in Port Barton and did some camping on a private island as one of many activities. After that we traveled to El Nido where we among other things went on a party boat and went to Blue Lagoon which was the most amazing thing I ever seen. The water was in a lot of beautiful different blue and green colours and with the cliffs and forest around us it was a spectacular view, you really have to go there and see it with your own eyes to know what I mean! All in all I am really happy I went on this tour and its definitely the best thing I have ever done in my life and I would like to send a big thank you to the amazing tour guides and One life adventures that made this possible!

The scenery was breath taking and the i think the Philippines as a whole is very underrated. I was able to sleep on a private beach under the stars, shower in a waterfall and swim at night time with the glowing plankton. This has been one of the best holidays and experiences of my life, i have made so many friends and have memories that i will treasure forever. Hugo and Adam put everyone at ease from the get go about this tour being whatever individuals wanted it to be. There was a good mix of different people on the tour and what they were after but there was always the comfort of being able to do as much or as little as you wanted.
The tour itself was amazing: the island hopping, snorkelling, beach camping, boat partying, zip lining across islands and much much more were easily one of the best tour experiences. I would highly recommend this tour and if you're lucky you might get the amazing Hugo and Adam!!

The sights and experiences you get on this tour can only be described as breath taking and some once in a lifetime places you'll definitely only get a chance to see on this tour and with one life adventures. One of the things I was most aprehensive about was how I would cope going from place to place and not knowing the local areas but with the trip being tour guided from the start to finish by Adam and Hugo, who take everyone personal needs and preferences in to consideration before any activity is taken part in and made the tour even better than I could imagine. I can not recommend this tour and one life adventures highly enough. This tour is perfect for complete beginner travellers, the most experienced of travellers and everyone in between.

We heard about the company from friends who gave it high praises for being fun and very reasonably priced. From the start our tour guides: Adam, Hugo and Milly were so helpful and fantastic about giving advice regarding flights, activities and filling us in about the Filipino culture. We were amazed with how great all of the private transfers and hotels/hostels were in all of the locations we visited- Manila, Puerto Princesa, Port Barton and El Nido. In a stressful city such as Manila, haggling with the taxi drivers is a bit tricky so we were very thankful! A few of the highlights that we experienced were a one night stay on a private island, a visit to one of the Filipino prisons, learning how to climb a coconut tree, zip lining in El Nido and definitely the island hopping party boat! Our tour guides also suggested adding on a trip to Cebu to swim with the Whale sharks and go canyoneering through the Kawasan waterfalls. We would highly recommend this! Not only were the activities amazing throughout the whole trip, the people we met in our tour group made sure that there were plenty of laughs and hilarious moments. We couldn't fault the whole tour!

Our host Andrew lead us through shrines, temples and night life in Tokyo before zigzagging to Hakone, Takayama, Kyoto and finally Osaka. Some favorite highlights were the sushi making class in Tokyo and the beautiful temple stay in Takayama - complete with a soak at an onsen. Well balanced with activities and free time for exploring. Highly recommend!

Love how we have moved from the crazy busy Tokyo city out to the piece and quiet of the temple stay and back into the busy Kyoto.
The accommodation is comfortable and clean even being shared facilities. Love the pod hotel as by then the group had become a family making some good friends that I hope to continue speaking to after the tour.
Our tour guide Adam really got to know the group and gave us lots of great recommendations along the way to fill out free time.
If you’re on the fence about booking and want to see Japan without the worry of working out know to build to ur own trip, defo 100% book it with one life adventures!

This was my 49th country. The tour is fairly whirlwind and pretty active with some small hikes and nearly 20k steps daily. All transfers are on foot/train so backpack/light packing is a must. Solo free time is limited but we did so much together that it didn’t bother me. The times and sights were very well calculated to try to avoid crowds as much as possible. I would def tour with one life again, particularly in countries where I mostly want to see as much as possible and don’t mind less free time. I’m not an anime or shopping person, so at least in Japan, I really didn’t feel the need to check out other sights on my own. I loved the group and tour guide. My only complaint would be more culture and history, but frankly on a busy tour on foot, it’s very difficult to get a group of 20+ to crowd for long enough to be able to do this! overall, will

It is not a party tour, which allows you to maximize your time experiencing Japan, but they do also sprinkle in some fun nights with karaoke ect. That you can let your hair down and get to know the rest of the group. The sushi making class, tea ceremony, and kendo also add to the tour with things you get to actively participate in, which makes it that much more enjoyable.

I hope you like reading, because this won't be an appetizer.
THE GOOD
The whole dang experience! First off, I waited to the very last moment to book this tour: The age range of 18-39 was a bit of a concern for me, as I am 40, typically surrounded by 20somethings due to my job, and was hoping to have some people closer to my age. I reached out to the One Life Adventures team and their customer service was top notch. The rep heard my concern, and even though they expressed being unable to share concrete demographics (understandable), they told me there was at least one person in their later 30s. That was enough for me so I booked! Cheers to that rep, you're a real one.
More good:
- Our group of 15 was PHENOMENAL! Yes, people were still mostly in their 20s, but I was the only one worried about age. After I got over myself (the bad, lol), I couldn't have asked for a better group. 3 days in and I felt like I knew these people for ages. I kid you not, it was and remains pretty freaky that we ALL got along. ALL. Individually, I had so many heartfelt, one on one conversations that I know I've actually made friends for life, and even after the trip many of us are planning our next adventures together. But don't worry, if you're someone who likes time away from the group, there is plenty of down time for solo exploring as well, and I highly recommend you do so!
- The Itinerary: This was the perfect itinerary for a Japan first-timer. Did we hit typical touristy spots? Yes, of course! How could we not? That being said, these guides are so good and experienced that they knew the best times to hit locations for minimal crowding which = fabulous pictures, which they gladly took for everyone (Adam and his group picture announcements are a fond memory!).
The Sushi class was an AMAZING experience and delicious, the Kendo class (which only OLA is allowed to partake in as per JAPAN ITSELF) was magical and I'm currently looking for classes locally, and the Tea Ceremony in Kyoto, which I was most looking forward to, was an honor to witness and be a part of.
As mentioned before, there was a pretty good balance of tour time and free time, with plenty of suggestions given for free time. It was also really awesome getting to explore some of our guide Adam (first 10 days) and Dale's (last 4 days) favorite spots for and even greater, less touristic experience of Japan. I won't share specifics just in case your group isn't cool enough to get the invite ha! I kid, I kid. Speaking of guides...
- The Guides: no shade to the rest of the OLA team, but I don't see how it could get any better than Adam and Dale. Guides can easily make or break your tour experience, and thankfully both added so much quality to our tour. Super social, very attentive to the group, knowledgeable about the towns and stops/attractions on tour, and honestly pure fun to hang with. They helped make it feel like this was an annual friend's trip instead of a bunch of solo travelers. Shout out to Adam for laughing at my corny jokes and Dale for enabling my constant shopping...and cooking us breakfast on the last full day!
The lodging: I have never stayed in a hostel before, and I was a tad worried about staying at so many. But, OLA did a really good job choosing lodgings. Each hostel was clean and comfortable with self-controlled heating, and we even stayed at 1 temple with the most luxurious stone tub, and another with a private onsen. When I tell you I felt like royalty soaking...and how I really tried to figure out how to bring that tub home! Also, the temple in Koyasan provided the most elaborate and delicious dinner and breakfast spread I've ever had in my LIFE. And it was vegan, which I am not, so you know it had to have been too good!
THE BAD
Because the itinerary is jam packed, you will move A LOT! I didn't share in advance that I had a disability (invisible), but Adam could tell something was up and it was very clear to me that at stations he would normally take the crew to steps, he intentionally detoured to escalators. Actually, Adam and Dale did a pretty good job trying to make sure we hit escalators and elevators when traveling, but sometimes steps are just unpreventable. That's when the group really worked together to help each other. Kum ba yah!
If you have any physical concern or impediment, this tour can still very much be for you! They are not kidding when they say PACK LIGHT though. You will really spare yourself. Unless you're a masochist then have it O_o. If not, rest assured nobody cares what you are wearing except you, and there are washers/dryers at most of the locations we stayed at (and at one temple the wash/dry was FREE99!!).
If you hate the cold like me, then you should know the temples...are...FREEZING. Even though they provide you nightwear, Make sure you have warm PJs if you're on a Nov/dec tour. Thermals are your friend for a cozy sleep. Would I have skipped the tour due to the cold temples in hindsight? NOPE! Staying at the temples and the experiences I had engaging in the morning prayers (as a non-religious woman) are in my top 3 experiences on this tour. Worth being cold for a night.
Hair: If you're a curly girl/natural, consider throwing your hair into a manageable protective style. I struggled to find time to wash/condition, and diffuse my hair (it's a must), and doing so took time away from exploring Japan with the tour. So, braid it up, loc it up, sew in, etc. Trust me, you really don't want to skip out on this awesome itinerary (which sometimes leads late into the night) because it's wash day.
THE UGLY
14 days: Not...enough...time! I urge OLA to do a 21 day Japan tour because extended time in areas like Kyoto, Hakone, and Osaka would have been AMAZING as these were my favorite areas.
Food: Because this tour is packed, you often eat on the "go", and by "go" I highlight that in Japan it is taboo to eat and walk, so we often ate outside a 7-11 or FamilyMart in between commuting. Though understandable, I'm a woman who eats 1750-2000 cals a day, so it was hard to maintain my nutrition on the tour. So, if you're a fitness nut, plan ahead!
It ended: There were two super sad moments on this tour: when the 10 dayers split from the group, and when the 14 days came to an end. 0/10, hated both. I miss everyone!!
OVERALL: This tour is hands down a 5 out of 5. I am so thankful that I booked it! Japan was EVERYTHING, I've made great friends on tour and even a few locals (who I'll be hosting when they visit the states!), AND it provided clarity for some big life decisions. You will NOT regret booking this tour, I promise you! If you're on the fence, DO IT. Don't deprive yourself of this amazing experience. And, to guarantee your great experience, make sure you don't book Japan with any other tour but One Life Adventures.

The schedule was well thought out, well managed and we were looked after every step of the way. Our guide, Adam, was not only brilliantly knowledgeable, but became a beloved member of the group whilst remaining professional and meticulously managing our time. It was a wonderful experience getting to meet new people from all over the world. But most of all, this tour was led by the best tour guide I’ve ever come across; Adam. He is knowledgable, caring, kind, funny and just fun to be around. Nothing was ever too much for him. He answered all my questions daily. He has an extremely good knowledge of Japan. He is super organised and the tour was extra special by being in his presence.
The 10 day tour gives you an insight into Japan and my only regret is that I wish I’d heard of this company sooner. I advise everyone to book it!

He was a rich source of practical and historical knowledge on the various areas we visited. Make sure to dress for the weather, bring a warm jacket in the winter and use a large travel pack and not a suitcase.

If you are looking for a first-overseas-travel country, Japan is pretty perfect. Even if you barely understand the language, the locals are so patient and kind. Even happy that you are there (if you're buying from them haha).
The food was SO good; even as a vegetarian, I always had somewhere that I could eat. And the vending machines!!! Super convenient, especially when you're so on-the-go all the time.
And the itinerary was the perfect blend of culture and history, old and new. I'm so glad that we got to see all of the diverse sides of Japan.
Tips: either invest in some good walking shoes, or get some insoles, because seriously, so much walking. But also get some shoes that slip off rather easily, as lots of venues/accommodations require you to remove them. Velcro hiking sneakers would be perfect lol.
Also, definitely listen to all of the advice and get a backpack rather than a suitcase. Not only does it make it easier when you're going up and down stairs, but it also makes it quicker for everyone. I myself got a convertible rolling backpack, which gave me the option of wearing it up on more active legs of the trip and rolling it when we were more relaxed, but up to you.
You don't need to pack shampoos/body washes haha, EVERY place you stay at has them. And even if they didn't, there are convenience stores everywhere that sell small bottles for dirt cheap.
Tour guide Adam was the bomb.com. He's experienced, fun, and knows what he's talking about. A great karaoke singer too. If you're lucky enough to get him as your guide, you're in for a super fun time!!!

I was made up with this tour been a dream of mine to come to Japan for ages but never felt I could cope with the lack of English. One Life took us from the Electronic Vibes of new age Japan to some of the oldest temples still standing.
It’s compact and can feel a little overwhelming but well worth it. My favourite was by far the Kendo workshop in the oldest Dojo in Japan.
Adam was knowledgable, funny and never let us get lost (which is very easy to do when you know zero Japanese - we learned the hard way once the tour finished).
I’ve been on 5 tours in Asia with 5 different companies and this one was by far my favourite.

We’re very time poor to have organized anything ourselves so we decided to book this tour radar tour with one life. Everything from organization before hand, throughout our tour and extra notes or guides was amazing.
Adam was the best guide and was so helpful with any questions (we lost a wallet and straight away he did everything he could to help us out!). He’s defs down to party at night if your group is up to it!!
Advice:
- There is A LOT of walking on this tour (by my standards) I was averaging about 15-20 thousand steps a day. We were going going going which was something I loved.
- There was always activities to look forward to and suggestions made by our guide Adam so yes make the most of it and go try everything!
- You are given a guide before your tour on what you can do for extra days in Tokyo and Osaka. I suggest booking extra days before or after to try and see everything!
- If you want a good sample of what Japan has to offer and you have never been this is a fantastic taster! There were definitely things that I knew I wanted to in Japan but there was plenty of things on this tour that I had never imagined doing.
- This is a good balance between seeing the crazier side of Tokyo with the robot restaurant, maid cafe and Shinjuku to the more relax zen side traveling to hakone, Takayama and exploring the culture and temples. I had really wanted to do Hiroshima so it’s fantastic to see they have added it now as part of the tour.
- As others have said, this is go go go so a few meals are eaten on trains and bought from convenience stores. Honestly, this is Japan life! You actually get the best chicken from 7/11 so no complaints here! Food wise, there’s a good balance between tasting “authentic” jap food and trying fast food then venturing off on your own. Best meal was definitely the Hida beef recommendation from Adam in Takayama
- Everyone says the train system is so easy in Tokyo/japan but tbh I was super confused. The tour was good in that we didn’t have to worry about how we were going to get to the next destination, Adam did all the worrying for us (to his demise SORRY ADAM!!!)
We definitely want to go back after doing this tour - and now we know how to get around, where to go and what to do! Thanks One Life you were amazing <3

The tour exceeded my expectations. The tour guides were great at navigating issues and leading the group from one place to the next. Our group was fantastic and had a lot of fun adventuring together. …The tour exceeded my expectations. We didn't know any Japanese and didn't feel out of place. I recommend for those considering coming on this tour to pack light (as light as you reasonably can) and in a backpack not rolling suitcase. Makes traveling SO much easier. I would strongly recommend this group to anyone.
