I was lucky enough to go along for the trial tour and I can confidently say that future travellers planning on doing this trip in the new year will not be disappointed. Every little detail was thought out, from the accommodation we stayed in to the transport we used to travel the country. So many amazing experiences are included, some of my favourite being the Dark Caves in Phong Nha and Castaway Island in Halong Bay. Both Sammy and David have really poured there passion for traveling into this tour and have made sure you see and experience all the great beauties that Vietnam has to offer. David had so much knowledge to offer up about the history of this country and all the places we visited. Sammy is so full of life and there is never a dull moment with her around.

From drinking/partying to chilling to seeing cultural sites; everything was well organised and loads of info provided to us. Would definitely recommend this tour to someone who wants a mix of partying, relaxing and culture.
Special thanks to Dave & Phi. Both are so laid back they just merge into and become part of the group, joining in with all the fun yet keeping everything running smoothly, even when there were any unplanned interruptions (weather, people getting ill etc).

Chose to do this tour due to never setting foot in South East Asia before and thought this was a safe bet, I wasn't wrong! David, one of our tour guides, picked us up from the airport and we loved him…Chose to do this tour due to never setting foot in South East Asia before and thought this was a safe bet, I wasn't wrong! David, one of our tour guides, picked us up from the airport and we loved him from the get go, helped with anything and is such a great bloke! Thailand was amazing especially Rayong, no tourists and I will never forget the great crew at the Drift Bar! Cross the border to Cambodia to carry on the tour and meet Phy, our other tour guide, who is from Cambodia and he also is a great guy! Good to have someone there who speaks the language and can help with anything i.e how much a tuk tuk should cost etc! Phy is a great laugh just like Dave and both are a credit to Trutravels, didn't look at them as tour guides but friends we met on our journey and I think that's the beauty of them being great tour guides!! The places you see on this tour are beautiful, fun, historical and cultural so a great mix!! Be prepared to party every now and then and have a good time! Loved every minute and have met some great people along the way!! I recommend the tour hugely!! Big 5 stars to everything!!!

Love you guys and reccomend this to everyone who loves to have fun and still learn alot about the countrys you are travelling!

Had an amazing trip round Cambodia took away all the hassle of organising trips and buses as it was all taken care of. The trip also allowed us to go to places which we never would have been too if doing the trip on our own. Just arrived back from the 16 day Thai-Khmer experience. We had a great time and feel like the trip is a great introduction to SE Asia. We had a great time and feel like the trip is a great introduction to SE Asia. There is a good balance between relaxation, partying and culture and the trip is great value for money. Our guides (Dave and Phy) added great value Becuase they were very knowledgable and ensured you made the most of your 2 days in each location, taking you to places you would never find yourself. They also introduced us to lots of people at each location which made us feel at home and settle in quickly, something that would not happen if you were travelling by yourself. The guides will also go out of their way to help you, for example Dave organised all of our transfers and accommodation for after the trip Becuase we weren't sure what we were doing. For a relatively short trip you also make some great friends and I hope we stay in contact in the future. Cheers guys, Tom (Life jacket).

This is a fantastic trip! You get to really see Cambodia which is so interesting and different, as well as visiting some great places in Thailand beforehand. You get to really see Cambodia which is so interesting and different, as well as visiting some great places in Thailand beforehand. The highlights for me were the waterfalls in Rayong and the hostel on a deserted island (koh rong). Dave and Phy were both brilliant, really knowledgeable and organised. The accommodation was also far better than I expected, all the rooms had A/C and clean bathrooms! If you only have a few weeks, this trip is perfect as you get to see a lot of South East Asia with activities, transport and accommodation all done for you! :)

I was nervous before starting the tour, not just about meeting my fellow Tru-Tr…I went on a Thai-Khemer tour with Dave, Ryan and Hein in May 2017 and had an truly unforgettable and amazing experience. I was nervous before starting the tour, not just about meeting my fellow Tru-Travellers (who have now become good friends) but mainly because I had somehow lost both my debit card and travel money card in Chiang Mai before flying down to Bangkok. Dave was so kind and supportive to me through this little fiasco and made sure I was never left penniless and stranded both during and after the trip. That's another thing that really impressed me about TruTravels, guides are so willing to make sure you have secure plans for after the tour ends. Dave, Ryan and Hein are absolute legends and I know Dave was particularly thrown in the deep end with this tour as he hadn't yet been to Cambodia himself before but his passion for travel, kindness and approachability went a long way! All the guides were a right laugh and a pleasure to get to know. Although for the first few days of our tour we were outnumbered by the guides, there was never an 'us & them' feeling, we all got along really well and had a brilliant time. Thanks for great trip Dave, Ryan & Heinz baked beans...Stevo/Steamo ;)

David was my tour guide during the Cambodia part and he truly is an amazing human being. The Thailand part is so much fun; Ewan is a fun person and we all missed him afterwards, but the Cambodia part is amazing. I had never been to Cambodia before and David made sure I want to visit another time. He was always up for ideas and plans, I loved the fact that even though it was heavily raining we still went to the waterfall. I loved that so much; he is such a laid-back dude that looks like a big teddy bear. :) His hugs are amazing and he makes sure you feel comfortable. The group dynamic was amazing and I was so sad that he had to leave early. He made sure we got another tour guide, Aido. Rhisian was also part of the tour and she and David are both amazing people.
I will definitely do another tour again, maybe Vietnam. I hope to see you there, David! <3

It was my first time traveling to Thailand and I think coupling a few days in Chiang Mai on my own with TruTravel's 18 Day Island Hopper tour was the best way I could've gone about it (arrive in Bangk…It was my first time traveling to Thailand and I think coupling a few days in Chiang Mai on my own with TruTravel's 18 Day Island Hopper tour was the best way I could've gone about it (arrive in Bangkok early so that you can visit the Grand Palace, which is not included in the itinerary). The tour's itinerary allowed me to experience a lot of southern Thailand's major spots, including some that I wouldn't have known about on my own, with a fun-loving group of people for a relatively great price. I also really liked that we had the flexibility to do other/additional activities on our own if we wanted to. I was initially in a group of around 20 with Minnie (and very briefly with Dave) before our group combined with another that came to be led by Itchy, Daniel, and Patrick. The guides were all knowledgeable, very prompt at responding to messages, and fun to be around. They do their jobs well and truly want to make sure that you are enjoying your time. Each brought something different to the table that I think contributed to the group's dynamic. They should all be given a raise and more days off ASAP so that they can come visit me in California some day (:
Some critiques: I wish that we were put in sleeper trains WITH A/C on our way to Khao Sok National Park and would have preferred another hostel over the TruTravel-owned Echo Beach Backpackers Hostel in Ko Phangan to be honest. Also, two 1 hour sessions at Surf House Phuket was not enough, especially since we were in a large group. I think a lot of the people in my group were more bothered by the fact that we were split very unevenly between the two sessions for some reason... You could tell TruTravels tries to cut their costs in these areas, but the overall positive experience of the trip outweighed these minor downsides.

It is the perfect mix of chill time, activities, culture and partying, with so ma…I have just finished the 16 day Thai-Khmer Explorer and can honestly say it has exceeded every one of my expectations! It is the perfect mix of chill time, activities, culture and partying, with so many varied experiences included in the tour. I met the most amazing group of people, who I almost instantly bonded with and made the tour so special! Our tour guide, Dave, was absolutely fantastic - he is such a laid-back guy, yet you can tell he is so passionate about his job and was always willing to go above and beyond to ensure we were safe and having the best time possible. The trip would not have been what it was without him!
We were also lucky enough to meet several other TruTravels tour guides (shout out to Aido, Amanda, Ewan and Hein) who were all so lovely and equally passionate, so you're in safe hands regardless of your tour guide!
The accommodation is a mix of hostels and hotels, but they are all top quality and you can tell they have been selected for their value for money and location etc. Although only a few meals are included in the tour, this actually worked out much better as it allowed us to choose when/what we wanted to eat, and the food is so cheap out there anyway! The tour has also recently been slightly revamped by Dave to ensure you get the most for your money, with everything other than food and drink now included in the price.
I can't recommend this tour or TruTravels enough, if you're in any doubt about booking a tour just do it, I can almost guarantee you will enjoy yourself!

Ewan, Amanda, Aido and Hein were tour guides for part of the trip and were brilliant company, all very good at what they do and super easy to get along with. A big thank you to our main tour guide Dave who was with us throughout it all, a great guy with a huge heart and a genuine care for all of us on the tour. He's a credit to trutravels, my experience wouldn't have been half of what it was without Dave. I will remember this trip forever and would recommend it to anyone.

I don't even know how to explain how amazing this trip is. I booked it 6days before it started and I arrived a day before the tour started. Dave picked me up from the airport and straight away I knew it would be a once in a lifetime trip! It's amazing how quickly you can feel safe and comfortable with people you've never met before. I loved every minute of this trip all the sights we saw including waterfalls, temples and islands. Dave is such an out going friendly guy who made all of us enjoy every minute of this trip. If you have him as your tour guide you are very lucky! This being said i met a few of the tour guides on this trip and I can honestly say I haven't met anyone like them all. They are all great and passionate about what they do. I'm definitely going to go home, save money and do another tour. Thank you so much to Dave and Trutravels. I have awesome memories I will treasure forever with amazing people I hope to stay in touch with.

I did the 16 day Cambodia/ Thailand trip and it was amazing!! The trip is so chilled out unlike some where you have to stick to a set timed schedule. Before the trip started Dave added us all on Facebook messenger do we could all get talking before the trip, and sent us a personal message to check flight time for pick up etc. When I arrived I was made to feel at ease right away. Dave is such a lovely friendly guy and is just so lovable you can't not have an awesome memorable experience on his trip. He is always making sure we are all having a great time and goes out of his way for you. He is such a good soul and has plenty of banter!!
The tour has a mix of everything! Nights to in Koh San Road (Bangkok), Siem reap, Sinoukville and Penom Penn to cultural experiences and plenty of time to chill. The transport is all private vans and the good thing is it can sometimes get pushed back if you hanging!! The hotels/ hostels were all lovely and had pools etc, and the food is all so cheap and tasty over here!
The trip is honestly so much fun and I'm so glad I did the trip with Tru as you get to go to a couple of places the others don't go eg Kampot (really cute little town) where yo can go on a boat trip down the river, and spend a couple hours at an Cambodian makeshift water park (do much fun!) as well as a stay in a huge house next to the beach.
There is nothing I didn't like about this trip and am so sad it's now over!

Dave was a dream tour guide went above and beyond to make sure everyone was having a great time, sorted any questions or troubles we had and explained exactly what would be happening all throughout the trip! The trip itself was more then I expecting we were taken to place not on the usual route was so great to be able to see these places that otherwise would never of known about or seen! My favourite part was staying at Koh Rong at the Mad Monkey hostel which was a great experience! Being on this trip got to met great people and get share great memories with! Anyone thinking of booking with Trutravels i wouldnt hestitate couldn't recommend it highly enough!

Sadly this tour turned out nothing like I expected, I was very disappointed by the suggested activities and the overall cost for what we received.

The first issue though not the tour guides fault, was the fact that we spent our first two days without a tour guide as one had recently quit. Trutravels needs to put in place notice so that this doesn't happen again and leave travelers in the lurch after having paid such a high price for the trip.
As lovely as the tour guides were, especially Dave, there was very little knowledge of the areas as this was his and Hein's first trip into Cambodia. This ended up making the tour very costly as all the food places visited and advised were expensive in comparison to local restaurants. The tourrader list of activities is very misleading, it would suggest that there are more than a few meals when in fact it turned out to include two which were very simplistic, 'special bbq' is suggested online though this is something you have to pay for and being on an island with one hostel means that they are able to charge high costs for all the food making this part of our trip very costly for all. The BBQ is also listed in the meals section of the tour.
The tour breakdown also suggests lots of activities, this is not the case, there are not that many and most are later in the day leaving you the morning with little advice on what can be done in the location. Had this been a cheap tour I wouldn't have minded the lack of information but it being one of the more costly advertised this was very disappointing. On the island it was suggested that we would be doing 'some awesome snorkeling', we snorkeled in one spot for about 20 mins for the whole day.
There were many issues with the tour and nearly all if not everyone felt very letdown by TruTravels.
In the end it turned out the be a very slow, lazy trip that was just made up of drinking, not the cultural experience I and the rest of my group had been expecting.

We also had Dave as a tour guide in Bangkok who was also awsome and a proper cool guy!
Definitely recommend using either of these guides, you'll have a blast!

Ryan & Lawrie were our tour leaders, both of them together was the perfect mixture of experience and fun!
When we got to Koh Phangan Ryan took a step back & it felt like Lawrie was in full control of the group! Whatever problem I had (homesick) he made me feel like it was normal, he felt like a friend but he also knew how to balance that out with being our rep perfectly, couldn't of asked for a better rep.
Also shout out to Dave, he wasn't our tour rep but when we lost our group for a night he took us right under his wing!

I did the full island hopper tour and can't honestly say it was such an eye opening experience that I can only encourage everybody to do. I've met some amazing pepole along the way and it has really made me have a different outlook on life (even in such a short time). Dave was an absolute brilliant tour guide, he was the life and soul of the party but also the one who youcould chill with at 3 in the morning or afternoon and speak to for hours. Dave wasn't a tour guide, he was a friend and a top guy! Furthermore, Yo was a fantastic tour guide who was a great laugh, he helped us out when needed and was always on call whenever anyone needed help. Thank you to both Dave and Yo, along with Amanda and Sammy for a great introduction to solo travelling!

Taking us to some of the most beautiful spots in Thailand even the nation park, showed us where the best nightlife was and filled are days with amazing activities like slip n fly,a wipe out course! lots of snorkelling and boat trips plus many more things! This tour is something I'll remember for the rest of my life, thanks again to Dave and Sammie for being awesome!! I will defiantly be booking with trutravels again☺️

I think it was perfect for my situation .. my first time travelling alone. The tour seems to be aimed at a younger age group and it was everything I was looking for! It lacked on the cultural side but that for me , didn't matter. The tour guides we had (Sammi & Dave) were amazing! Everything that the website advertised was included and sorted! Perfect planning ; nothing seemed to go wrong! and on the quieter days both tour guides suggested alternative things to do. They both knew a lot about the areas and even after the tour ended, helped everyone sort out forward travel / tours. Favourite places were definitely Bottle Beach and Koh Sok .. both away from tourists and the normal backpacker scene! The tour really has chosen a good mix of islands / places and all the accommodation was great! I do think we went to Koh Phangan for too long and 7 days was too much for a lot of the group! But apart from that I've had an amazing tour , met some amazing people and would definitely recommend it to young travellers! Thankyou Dave and Sammi for everything , wouldn't have been the same without you xxxxx

When I met the large group of 24, I quickly forgot that I was a solo traveller.
The guided tour saved me all the hassle of planning out a trip and sorting my accommodation/transport. As the tour guides have great knowledge of Thailand, they knew all the best spots to take us.
I have met so many great people along the way and heard so many insightful stories. Being only 19, I believed everyone was going to be much older than myself, but out here age really is just a number. Everyone is in the same boat and is so sociable.
I'm delighted with the experience provided by TruTravels and would 100% recommend it to future travellers. I would like to say a special thank you to Sammy, Dave and Yo, our incredible tour guides would assisted us in every way possible and made life so much easier. They are genuine down to earth people.

We visited the most beautiful beaches and islands my favourite being bottle beach were we stayed in beach huts by the sea. The tour leaders we had Dave and Sammie were lovely and contributed to the trip being so much fun! Would love to do it all over again and highly recommend this trip and Dave and Sammie as tour leaders.

Dave is an absolute legend and made the tour for each person on it! It was a big mixed group and he made sure each individual was happy and having the best time! Not once did I see him stressed or being grumpy; we weren't the easiest group...
Yo was great also, knew everything question you asked him. Made sure everyone was happy and making the most out of their trip. Very organised and kept us all together!
In my opinion I think the tour stays too long at Koh Panghan, also it is very alcohol driven whilst there. Which isn't made clear when booking. Over 7 days in the same place gets quite 'samey'. For people on the shorter tours, spending half of their time there would be very frustrating. People go travelling to do/see things they can't at home.
That's NOT a reflection on the tour guides and the only advice I have for the tour. Apart from that I had an amazing time! So thank you very much!

Tour leaders Dave and Sammy were the best so much fun and really both lovely people who make the trip ten times better, friendly so easy to get on with made sure everyone bonded as a group. I'm so glad I did, I will be going back to my travel agent and telling him to recommend Trutravels to all his clients! It was so well organised- but still have you the feeling of being completely chilled and relaxed. Our guides- Sammy and Dave were awesome! They managed to keep us all in line when we had organised activities, but were also chill enough to let us do as we please. There's no doubt I will be doing another Trutravels adventure in the future

There is no better way to see Thailand! Ryan, Dave and Ben are the best. The trip is the perfect combination of scheduled events and freedom to just do your own things. I definitely recommend this tour if you wish to discover a lot of regions and islands that Thailand has to offer with a good company and nice fellow travellers.
The accomodations used are overall all good and clean, and as advertised there are 2 nights in Hostels, one in a night train and 1 in a night ferry, which are good and fun experiences, but could possibly not be for everyone's taste.

Where do I start!?!? This is one of the best experiences I have ever had. 15 in total and only a few did the 8 day tour so we were pretty much together the entire time. I can honestly say that I am so sad it is over because I love each and every one of them Dave was the best tourguide there is and he is so genuin and exited about us and thailand, wanting us to have the best experience each place we go to. He told us all about the places we visited, was awesome to everyone and he can drink you under the table any day of the week and still be the first one up i the morning with a smile and a hug Ben is the best thaiguide ever! She knows everyone, got so much swag it actually hurts and you can not help but ro fall in love with Ben amanda was to us as much of a tourguide as any! She took care of us and was super organised and she will be an awesome tourguide. Jealous of the next groups who get to travel with these guys.Thank you you are awesome

Right from the word go we were treated like adults and given the chance to chill, explore get involved or just slam it by the pool. I've heard from many friends who've been on tours and felt like they couldn't do what they wanted; this was totally not that!
Ryan was great and totally got involved, leading the party most of the time! He knew the bet places to go, things to do and what was and wasn't worth the Baht!
Big Dave was a machine! Although training up as we went round he soon became everyone's best mate and made the trip so much fun! If you find yourself on tour with this man, you'll be in for one epic adventure!
Beautiful Thai-Guide Ben was so cool too! She loved here sleep (lol) but was ready to party all night long! Damn I'm going to miss these three!
The whole trip was so much fun - the laughs, the 'banter' and epic places we saw were just mid-blowing!
If you're thinking about going on tour with a company, I honestly challenge you to find a better one than TruTravels! Hell, I immediately booked on to another one at the end of the tour and flew straight from Phuket ➡️ Bali!

I think the only negative I'd say about the trip is being an 18 day tour it could've been filled with more activities and even if that means bumping the price up it would go down a lot better, there were times where I had to entertain myself which I really don't mind but other times an activity would be on and it would be like you guys pay for it, which I didn't mind as it wasn't in the itinerary but it seemed like do this or entertain yourselves, but some people really weren't happy when it happened multiple times. I would suggest slip n fly in Ko Phangan instead of the boat party and replace the boat party in phi phi as there's much more to see and it looks great.
Overall, great trip, great company. Ryan, Ben & David much love ✌

Our tour guides were Harry, Dave and Jonjo all wicked guys that always joined in with the fun and got to know everyone. They always kept us informed and up to date with any changes as we had some bad weather which meant we weren't sure if we could get to one of our destinations and our boat trip got cancelled but they soon arranged another activity for us.
Overall it was a wicked experience with wicked people! Will definitely be looking into other tours available in the future and recommend TruTravels to family and friends

I recommend it to anyone, you won't regret it!
