It was a shame the weather made the walking tour of kyoto a less enjoyable expeteince than it should have been as it was fascinating to find out more about the geiko

The program is full but well planned; you have plenty of time to either rest a bit or explore the places on your own. We received very good tips for this from our guide Sarah. The activities that I wouldn't have booked without a group tour, such as the sushi class and the kendo class, were so much fun! I can only recommend the tour to anyone who wants to see as much of Japan as possible. It was informative, exciting, funny, and so much fun. Sarah was a fantastic guide. Recommendation: definitely go for the optional Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki meal in Hiroshima - it's completely different to Osaka, and as well as the fantastic food, there was practically a live cooking show!

However, I always had the option of taking time for myself and experiencing countless wonderful things at the same time. Above all, the points that I didn't know what to expect at first and that I would never have thought of on a trip on my own were surprising, unique and unforgettable! It is very much appreciated, that we went to most sights early in the mornings to avoid the crowds and also, that all our accommodation was selected perfectly located close to a 7eleven and not too far from stations. Thank you for creating this itinerary with so much love and attention to detail. Guide: Sarah is a real jack-of-all-trades - a tour guide, a translator (who can gesticulate with the best of them if needed), a dancer, a singer, a food influencer, a lost-and-found expert, a wake-up service and a one-woman machine of silly fun facts! The most impressive repertoire to make this trip the time of your life! Thank you! Personal recommendation for all those who love the ocean, mountains and islands: Plan 1-2 nights in Hiroshima or directly on Miyajima Island after the guided tour for yourself. It's an incredibly beautiful place and the perfect place to end the trip and reflect.

I chose the tour because of the locations and included activities. It was really good to have our tour guide Sarah direct us around on the different transport stations in particular with all the tickets etc already organised. She kept us all updated with detailed itineraries, meeting times, local food suggestions etc on the Whatsapp group. Some of the activities I never would have done otherwise and I stepped out of my comfort zone on a couple for sure. Sarah was amazing at giving us information and facts at all of the stops and answer any questions we had. I appreciated the early starts on some of the days to beat the crowds of tourists. My highlights were the Hakone boat trip, Kimono hire and tea ceremony, Takayama and Zen garden trip. Personally I would have spent more time in the more scenic country areas in Hakone and Takayama. However the point of the tour was to give a flavour of each area and has given me the confidence and insights to go back to the areas I enjoyed most in the future. We had a really small group which was nice. I would imagine it get's slightly chaotic with bigger groups moving around together in the cities. For luggage I look a 65L case that was about 3/4 full and a big backpack (hand luggage). It was just about enough for me, but there were times when I thought a slightly bigger case would have been better. There were quite a few opportunities to shop and explore alone and I saw some things I wanted to get but didn't have the space. I found food and shopping to be much cheaper than the UK and 130,000 yen was enough for me (I stayed a couple of extra days at the end of the tour in Tokyo). I would suggest a pocket wifi for the duration, which worked fine for me and was essential for navigating streets and trains in the free time. We had great weather at the end of November, only a couple of rainy days but temperatures dropped in the mornings and evenings. Waterproof and comfy shoes were needed! Step count averaged out at around 19,000 a day. The time of year was perfect for autumn leaf viewing, especially the yellow Ginkgo trees!! At the end of the tour I travelled back to Tokyo for a few days and Sarah organised a Mount Fuji side ticket on the bullet train which I really appreciated. Thanks Sarah and OneLife team!! I'll never forget this trip of a lifetime!!

Honestly cannot recommend this tour highly enough, feel so blessed to have visited so many incredible places in a short space of time. Tips: bringing a suitcase def isn’t the end of the world cos you can just courier it a few times, even if you have 0 interest definitely book the extra activities, do the 14 day tour and honestly just book this trip now!!

She is highly knowledgeable, organized and personable. The tour balanced depth and breadth of experiences excellently! We covered a lot of ground and saw so many amazing things but didn’t feel rushed. In particular I loved the experiential activities like the sushi and kendo classes and tea ceremony. A lot of the communication I received prior to leaving encouraged only bringing a backpack. I brought a standard backpack and small carry on suitcase and was really happy with that decision! It was easily managed even with public transit and transfers. All in all, an amazing trip for an exceptional value.

Going into the tour I thought it would be a visit to the main tourist attractions but it’s so much more! The experience and the memories I’ve made in the last 2 weeks will be some I will never forget. One life has offered a tour which has everything you would want to see in Japan but also provides you with an excellent tour guides such as Sarah who can provide information and recommendations to any other activities you may want to take part in. This tour is definitely more of a city break adventure so if you’re okay with the early starts, shop bought breakfast on the go and the walking then it’s the adventure for you! The tours provides an experience I’d never be able to make myself and really let’s us see what’s Japan has to offer. The fact we got to sleep in a Buddhist temple twice and try some things we wouldn’t normally do such as try a Buddhist meal and pray/ meditate is such an incredible experience. I cannot thank Sarah enough for making the whole experience. She was professional with her job with the way she explained and answered any questions we did have but also the fact that she was just a friendly face we could chat to and have fun with. I would 100% recommend this tour to my family and friends if they are keen to visit Japan but have no way how to make the adventure into a reality!

We couldn't have asked for better. She constantly made sure everyone was having a great time, felt included, and made us aware of local customs so as not to offend anyone. Our group was particularly wonderful, and got along great! It was an added bonus to hang out with such amazing people for 10 days straight. I would definitely not recommend bringing newish shoes on this trip - make sure they are worn in completely, haha. It is very fast paced - sometimes upward to 15,000-30,000 steps per day! I look back on the trip and wonder how we fit so many fun activities into one trip - but I wouldn't change any of it. I definitely recommend bringing ergonomic backpacking backpacks - individuals with this type of luggage seemed to do best. Pack light, because there are opportunities to do laundry frequently throughout the trip without an issue. Don't hesitate to book through TourRadar or One Life. The trip was flawless, and everything was planned out very well! Takayama and Kyoto were my favorites of the trip. The tea ceremony was top notch, and a highlight for me, since I love tea culture. We are already planning our next group tour for the fall - if One Life hosted trips in Iceland, we would definitely use them again.

The trip took us to places where it would be very difficult to book on a solo trip. If I had to change anything it would be less time in Tokyo more time everywhere else. Tokyo is great but three days is too much when Japan is so rich with history and culture. Our tour guide Sarah was an absolute gem. Her knowledge and love for Japan was top notch. It was the perfect mix of amazing cultural activities and group outings to have fun with your tour buddies; we definitely made some forever friends on this trip! Our tour guides, Sarah and Mike, were an absolute joy; they did such a fantastic job guiding us, educating us, and were so fun to hang out with too. It was great feeling like they went from guides to close friends in the span of a couple weeks. They made it so easy to get around, and we were able to do a lot of activities like Kendo that we may not have been able to do on our own. I would absolutely recommend this tour (and tour company) to anyone looking to have a blast with some new friends on an adventure :)

They were knowledgable and we learned lots of interesting facts about Japanese history and culture, but what made the tour so special was that you could clearly see their passion for Japan and they really went the extra mile to ensure everyone enjoyed the trip (Sarah and even arranged a birthday cake for me on the first night!) The tour was well organised and had a nice balance of free time vs planned activities. All the accommodation we stayed at was clean and comfortable. We especially loved the two temple stays. I cannot thank Mike and Sarah enough for a wonderful and unforgettable experience!

A belated Honeymoon for me an my wife due to Covid we genuinely didn't know what to expect, however I can say hand on heart that this experience will live with us forever. Our tour guides Sarah and Mike were fantastic from start to finish. They enhanced the trip beyond what I can convey in words. Both passionate about the country they were working in, however the went beyond this. They genuinely wanted us to have the best time possible. We had Sarah for the first 10 days and Mike for 4 and whilst they were both great I would recommend that one Tour Guide stay with the group for the entire 14 days if possible. I feel this would benfit both the group and the guide. If you are on the fence about booking with One Life I would say DO IT as you will not regret the decision one bit. Will will 100% looking to book with One Life in the future. Again I just want to say a huge Arigato gozaimasu to Sarah and Mike for making my time in Japan truely wonderful. Osewa ni narimasu Anthony

I assumed I would be the oldest in the group (at 41) and that the accommodation would be more aligned to backpacking I did 20 years ago. I was positively surprised at the whole experience. Despite the accommodations being classed as a hostel, they were immaculately clean and easily facilitated even the most particular traveller. Weirdly enough, for someone who wanted a single occupancy room to start, I found the nights in the pod hotels and temples where we shared with 12 people were the best nights. The knowledge of our tour guides was brilliant and gave a lot of depth to the experience rather than just showing up and looking at a tourist spot. Our second tour guide’s passion for Japan and it’s history really showed as we visited the monuments included in the trip. Travel between areas of the country was really easy, efficient, and well organised, especially on the first part of our tour (10 days) when people may feel intimidated by the concept of a new country and travel culture. If I was to give any feedback on improvements, I guess I would suggest that more group meals or bookings were put forward as an option to avoid disappointment when group members are let loose to find somewhere to eat. I felt the group meals we had together really helped the bonding experience, and given it was Sakura season individuals sometimes struggled to get in to eat somewhere. The food provided as part of the tour was decent, and you are given plenty of free time to explore and choose your own options if you wanted to. All in all, the tour and the tour guides got on amazingly and made the whole experience a memorable one. One of the best trips I’ve ever had and it was nice to have the pressure of logistics and planning tickets taken off me. I will be booking again soon!

Highly recommend this trip! Below are my full thoughts with regards to pros and cons and to give a more in depth look at the ins/outs of this tour! Regards to Sarah and Mike for getting us through the entirety of the tour safely! Let me preface this by saying this was one of the most fulfilling yet physically challenging tours I have ever had the pleasure of taking. The sheer amount of locations visited, trains, planes and buses needed to take this 14 day multi-city tour was logistically overwhelming. If you decide to do this tour, I would highly suggest you ensure you are capable to walking many miles per day, have a comfy pair of shoes, and are able to do all this while carrying suitcases and all of the amazing souvenirs and knick-knacks you will inevitably bring back home. Take those travel suggestions seriously that one life sends you because overpacking at the start of the trip will definitely make those train/bus/car travel days feel longer when you have to walk to your lodgings. Lets start with the good: I have always wanted to spend a great deal of time in Japan. It is everything you have ever heard both good and bad. Extremely safe, fast paced, an extremely proud country rooted in centuries of history while celebrating new and exciting technology. If you love being surrounded by people who are proud of their heritage and who love promptness and being on-time Japan is your place. I was constantly blown away by the trains and logistics of this trip. As much as loved Tokyo, Takayama, Kyoto, Hiroshima (Miyajima Island) were highlights in my opinion. I could easily see myself going back to these areas. The group we were with on the tour were some of the most amazing people I have met and many of the group made plans to meet up for further adventures! Japanese people are so gracious and google translate is your friend is this regard. Many times I would strike up conversation and it would lead to fantastic conversations and I really felt connected on a deep level to the culture. There are many times that we were allowed to self tour and I really suggest adventuring off the beaten path. Cabs can be pricey at long distances but if you can swing it, I would highly suggest in the big cities to use all forms of transportation. Trains are amazing however it can lead to a 45min to 1hour trip depending on stops and where you want to go and sometimes a cab can lead to only a 20-25 minute trip instead. Try every type of food you can! There is a wide spectrum of food choices from the safe to surreal! If you have the choice though I would 100 percent suggest the sushi instead of the pufferfish milt haha! The amount of temples and shrines can sometimes blend together after a while. While they are all amazingly gorgeous in their own way, don't be afraid you see some of the other sights as well depending on your individual interests. Some quick suggestions: Conveyor belt sushi - life changing - seek it out! Use the bidets hahaha! I dont know how I lived so long without these things. Pack as light as possible. Plum wine and whiskey highballs were my jam. Try as many vending machine selections you can - I literally kept 100 yen coins on hand for this Tokyo skytower was amazing, TeamLAB planets, Fire Ramen is legit, Kendo class was awesome and was everything Sarah talked it up to be, Nara deer!!, try everything in osaka, and try to see as much of hiroshima in the brief time you have there. Definitely rent the samurai sword with your outfit (it will make your costume mucho gooder... I promise!) If you go during a festival season then absolutely go to one of their temple light shows. They are stunning! Get a digital sim card before leaving your respective country. I had unlimited data and cell service for most of trip and it was only like 20-30 bucks for 14 days. If you are a Disney fan, it is worth the stop. Don't bother trying to use their website to buy tickets until you get to Japan though. Too much of a hassle otherwise Honestly there was too much GOOD to GREAT to describe them all The okay: The hostels are definitely at different levels and I will admit entirely subjective. While my wife and I didnt care for sakura many in the group seemed to love the place and that is entirely valid. We loved the Hakone lodging and the Hiroshima and Osaka hotels. The traditional tatami mats do take some getting used to and if you are on the older side this trip might do a number on your knees especially as the trip goes on. We didn't really do the capsule hotel with everyone as it was a more a dorm style common sleeping room so we stayed elsewhere for the few nights in Kyoto. A couple of areas were not available or didn't align for us even though they were scheduled on the tour. These included the tsujimi fish market, the robot restaurant, and the pirate ship tour in Hakone. Kind of a bummer especially if these might be things you looked forward to seeing. Again mileage might vary in this regard especiallly as the country had just opened up during to covid and this might have already changed. If you are a coffee drinker I would reconcile that you might have to drink canned coffee or just drink coffee later in the day, it seemed like every coffee shop in japan seemed to open up around 930-1030. The buddhist koyasan temple stay was cold and the vegetarian meal while entertaining was a little disappointing. Again your mileage might vary but I was happy we had a few snacks in our packs. Speaking on koyasan, while beautiful felt like it might have been better spent elsewhere. By the time you get there, you have to leave early, travel a big chunk of the day, go to the temple drop your stuff off immediately and get to the amazing cemetery and temple but then back in town everything was already closed and there was little to do. The walk to Arishiyama bamboo forest was longer and in my opinion more scenic than the 15 minutes it took to walk thru the bamboo "path". It does make for a good profile pic though. Going back to the times on the tour with free time: I know it might be impossible but it might have been nice to have an itinerary before the start of the time with estimated times of events planned with possible times shown for self exploration. This would have definitely allowed to maybe plan our days better. While we got to see way more than I thought we would, we also got extremely lucky due to the lack of tourists in country at the time and flexibility on our budget end. The meh (nothing in my opinion was bad): Honestly most of these were on our part. I honestly was blown away but how many miles we traveled over all on the trip. Not counting the various trains/cars/ubers/buses/trolleys/cable cars we took, just walking for the two weeks and our fitbits calculated over 120 miles walked over the end of the trip. In addition I feel the need to stress light packing (3-4 days max clothing) as most places we stayed had laundry services and a pair of comfortable shoes. My wife made the mistake of wearing keds initially and by day three we were shopping for a new pair of shoes. While japan is arguably one the cleanest places I have ever been, there is also a lack of trash cans unless traveling thru subways. Be sure to bring a couple plastic ziplock bags to store your trash in between areas. I would suggest getting into Japan a day or two before the tour starts if possible to acclimate from any jet lag. We arrived on the day of tour start and we barely made it to the hostel before the start of the tour for that night. The first few days in Tokyo are without a doubt the hardest and busiest the tour gets so I wish we could have a had a day to see more and recover from the long flights. Again none of these are the fault of the this amazing tour and were just oversights on our part. In conclusion, please don't let any of the negative issues I had stop you from considering this trip thru one life. For the cost, it simply is an amazing bang for your buck to see a large swath of the amazing country that is Japan. From the moment I left its shores, I have longed to go back and that says everything you need to know. Shout out Sarah for being a great tour guide. I was continually blown away by the logistics of transporting the entire group from place to place, being on time, and always giving us great suggestions during the trip. Without a doubt this was longest tour I have had the pleasure of going on and it definitely set the standard for what a long form trip could be. Be prepared, make plans, save up, and take this trip. You wont be disappointed!!! As long as this review is, it doesnt even come close to describing everything you will see and do in Japan on this tour. -Gavin

From start to finish, I was thoroughly impressed with the level of organization, attention to detail, and overall enthusiasm from the team. The highlight of this organized adventure was definitely the island hopping in Port Barton. The stunning coastline, crystal clear waters, and abundance of marine life left me in awe. I couldn't believe how beautiful Palawan is, and I'm so grateful that I had the opportunity to experience it with 3 work colleagues and other 2 friends of mine. But what really made this adventure stand out was the cultural immersion. Spending time with locals and visiting an elementary school on a remote island was an eye-opening experience that I will never forget. It's clear that 1 Life Adventures is dedicated to supporting and empowering the communities they visit, and that made the trip even more meaningful. Last but not least, our guide Sarah was phenomenal. Her knowledge, enthusiasm, and passion for Palawan were contagious, and it's safe to say that she made the adventure even more enjoyable. I couldn't have asked for a better guide! Overall, I highly recommend 1 Life Adventures to anyone looking for a well-organized, culturally immersive, and unforgettable adventure in Palawan. Thank you TourRadar, for an amazing experience! I can't wait to see what other adventures you have in store.

There were a diverse range of activities including a school visit which would not have been possible without joining the tour. The Port Barton island hopping had some of the best snorkel spots I've ever seen. The 'Filipino Experience' cultural day was also a highlight. Our tour guide Sarah was very organised and helpful. Everything ran smoothly and she provided lots of recommendations for activities and places to eat during free time. Sarah was also espcially helpful with my nut allergy by checking with local guides and restaurants which foods would be safe to eat. This is often a challenge in South East Asia so I was highly grateful for Sarah's help. I highly recommend this tour if you have allergies as i felt 100% safe and was able to try a range of local foods. Our group size was small (5 people) but I understand it can sometimes be as much as 22. We all got on well with each other but it's worth noting group sizes can vary quite significantly depending on which date you book.

Sarah has been nothing but communicative, friendly, fun, knowledgeable about the history of places and a joy to have guiding us. Having the ease of all trains and transport sorted for you and just being led has been a dream. Once in a lifetime trip, thank you One Life and Sarah and here’s to my next adventure.

Sarah was the best tour guide ever, she was very educational and clearly wanted us to have a great experience in Japan. Some of the days were a bit earlier than I would’ve wanted at the time, but ended up being very necessary when it comes to doing all the tourist activities without being overwhelmed with the crowds. Tip I have for other travelers, don’t just bring tank tops lol, mistake on my part when it comes to visiting temples and shrines; rookie mistake. Overall, 10/10 tour, would recommend for anyone wanting to visit Japan and wants to have jam-packed, exciting times with great people :)

Being my first guided tour, I was apprehensive about sticking to a schedule other than my own and wondering if I would actually get a well rounded experience. Nevertheless, I joined the (June) Japan 10 Day Tour and was overwhelmingly delighted!!! This tour far surpassed my expectations and has given me a new outlook on group/guided tours in general. 10/10 would recommend!! *Sarah* was a fantastic guide and really gave much insight into the history, culture and vibe of each place visited. She kept us on schedule, feeling safe, and attended to each individuals needs and inquiries throughout our travels. We had enough free time between activities to enjoy at leisure and preferred pace. Some tips for those interested in this specific adventure: Travel as light as possible (backpack is better than suitecase). Bring a variety of comfortable shoes (lots of walking). Stay hydrated (can easily buy and refill water bottles on the go via vending machines and water filter stations at accommodations). Don’t forget sunscreen, a hat and umbrella for comfort and to avoid sunburn or getting wet on rainy days (if traveling in summer months). A jacket for evenings was essential for some areas (Hakone, Takayama in particular). Leave extra room in your bag for local goods you’ll (likely) purchase along the way. Shared accommodations were clean, comfortable and supplied shampoo/conditioner/body wash/towels, laundry services were available and optional on occasion. I’d recommend bringing an eye mask/earplugs for better rest as needed. Get yourself an eSIM for communications outside wifi zones (this is essential). While most places accept credit cards, it’s highly encouraged to bring some cash for smaller vendors and tips (however, atms can be easily found along the trip). While language tips and common words are taught during introduction, Id suggest trying to learn a few key phrases before entry into the country you plan to visit (ie Hello, Thank You, Yes/No, Excuse Me, etc). Be sure to read all the pre-trip emails/chat messages and other reviews to be best prepared and follow the directions given. Most importantly: keep an open heart and open mind along the way :)

I loved the people, the culture, the history and the amazing nature. Oh, and the food of course! Not the best for veggies, but that's Japan (pork seems to get added to everything) but you can find places using apps like Happy Cow, and the tour guide was really helpful and very catering. Secondly the itinerary - I thought was the perfect mix of travel and seeing things. 14 days is really hard to travel such a distance but with the speed trains and our guide keeping us going on time, we saw so much. I loved seeing the temples, the mountains and the cities. Wearing a Komodo one second, seeing a stunning castle the next and playing darts with a highball the next. Don't think you could do it better if you tried! Thirdly - the people on the trip were wonderful, I've made life long friends and looking forward to seeing them all again for the reunion. Lastly and by no means least was Sarah, our tour guide. 100% the best tour guide I've ever had, she did everything she could to make it the best experience. Her knowledge of the history and culture were amazing. She kept us on time (not easy with a 20 person group), traveling on many different transports, while always having a smile on her face. Truly an amazing person that made this tour what it is - if only she could sort everything out in my real life. All in all, a once in a lifetime trip, that made me want to go back not make it a once in a lifetime trip!

Sarah was a fantastic guide, always ensuring we had a good grasp of Japanese cultural do’s and don’t’s, providing good historical information on the places we visited, answering any questions we had, and making sure everyone was able to get what they wanted/needed out of the trip! Traveling with backpacks was definitely the way to go given the amount of walking (which was a good but certainly manageable amount) and at times in very busy public transit. Recommend waterproof gear or something to cover things up when traveling in case of rain. This was my first group tour experience and I would do it all over again! Met and traveled with a wonderful group of people from all over the world making new friendships while being able to visit a plethora of beautiful places, eat delicious foods, and do some things I’ve never done before. I would also add getting an eSIM prior to the trip was a very cost effective and good way to have phone data/internet access in Japan and I only used a little over 3 out of 10GB for the entire 10 days.

Japan was an incredible country to visit, and the One Life 14 Day tour offers incredible inclusions for a very reasonable price, whilst staying in comfortable accommodation, meeting great people and still providing free time. We covered all of the highlights in the major cities and had some incredible experiences, such as seeing the cherry blossom in Kyoto whilst wearing traditional kimonos, visiting the torii gates at dawn, and a Hiroshima history tour with a local guide. Our guide for the 14 days Sarah was very friendly and knowledgeable, and gave us great recommendations for restaurants to visit and activities to do in our free time. We had some difficult guests on out tour and she treated them with kindness, patience and respect whilst not allowing them to ruin the experience for the wider group. There is a lot packed in to the tour so it’s fast paced and involves some early starts/late finishes which was no problem for me but might not suit everyone. Several of the meals are “on the go”, grabbing bits from convenience stores to take on the trains, or having early lunches at 11:15am because of train times etc. however, that didn’t detract from my overall experience of Japan. The accommodation was better than expected and I really enjoyed the hostel/pod stay in Kyoto, as well as the tatami mats in Hakone and Takayama. The hotels in Osaka and Hiroshima are both very clean with good amenities (body wash/shampoo/conditioner available in all). If you’re deciding between 10 and 14 days, the most valuable difference for me was the chance to visit and learn more about Hiroshima; I personally didn’t take much from the stay in Koyasan but did love Miyajima Island. If I compare this to other tours I’ve done with other companies, it has given me an opportunity to learn more about my group tour preferences. For me, I think I prefer a smaller group (~16 people max) rather than 22, as I think it increases the bond within the group as a whole, and allows you to move faster when on the go. Additionally, this was my first group tour where the guide wasn’t local, and didn’t speak the language of the country we were visiting. To be clear, this didn’t cause any problems, and actually culturally I can understand why finding local Japanese guides would be challenging, but having the chance to speak with local guides has been something I’ve valued on previous trips. In all, I loved Japan and would encourage everyone to visit; this is a great way of seeing the country.

I really appreciated that One Life Adventures made the trip into an actual adventure and not merely a series of dull excursions to hit all of the classic tourist hot spots. Our guide had real insight to share--getting up at dawn to beat the crowds at the Fushimi-Inari Shrine was clutch--and struck a fine balance between guided segments and free time with optional activities. All ages are welcome too--take it from a 40-something year old. One Life is the best!

Kyoto and Miyajama were particular highlights for me. Overall I’d highly highly recommend!

After this I definitely want to do more! I originally chose this tour due to amount of areas in covered and how much of Japan you get to see for a fair price. With that in mind you do need to be prepared to walk a lot (averaged around 20,000 steps a day, some days in excess of 30,000) and be happy navigating busy public transport, with luggage. Also be prepared to be grabbing lunch on the go. I had no issue with this and enjoyed sampling all that 7eleven and Lawson had to offer - especially the dessert section!! Food is surprising cheap in Japan! Accommodation wise, they were a lot better than I anticipated. The worst was Nippori, just a little worn down and outdated, but acceptable. Everywhere was clean and had shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Our tour guide Sarah was fantastic at keeping us all together and was quick thinking when there were unplanned transport delays. I really enjoyed learning about the history of Japan and about the culture and religions. Sarah was really knowledgeable and always happy to answer any questions. She really encouraged us to engage with the traditions and culture of Japan. She was able to support with things to see/do on our free time and also provide restaurant and food recommendations. A personal highlight was Kyoto and Hiroshima, specifically Miyajima - wish I could have spent more time in Hiroshima, it is such a beautiful and interesting place. The local tour guide here was fantastic as well! Kyoto was just stunning with all the cherry blossoms out in full bloom! Also do try the onsen in takayama, it’s not as uncomfortable as you may think and is so relaxing!! As a solo traveller I wished there was just a little bit more time for group bonding - but this is hard when there was 21 of us to start with! We had games night in hakone which was so much fun so would have been nice to do a bit more of that.

I enjoyed the opportunity to take part in authentic experiences such as being dressed in kimonos, as well as many of the fun included activities like kendo and sushi making. There is a lot packed in to the tour so it’s fast paced and involves some early starts/late finishes which was no problem for me but might not suit everyone. Several of the meals are “on the go”, grabbing bits from convenience stores to take on the trains (although still plenty of opportunities to try Japanese cuisine in local restaurants too). There is a lot of downtime so it’s worth doing research into the big cities beforehand to gauge if there is anything you’d like to do outside of the schedule. The accommodation was better than expected and I really enjoyed the hostel/pod stay in Kyoto, as well as the tatami mats in Hakone and Takayama. The hotels in Osaka and Hiroshima are both very clean with good amenities (body wash/shampoo/conditioner available in all). If you’re deciding between 10 and 14 days, the most valuable difference for me is the chance to visit and learn more about Hiroshima; I personally didn’t take much from the stay in Koyasan. For me, I have learned that I prefer a smaller group (~16 people max) rather than 22 as with a group of this size it feels harder to make genuine meaningful connections with everyone, and easier to unintentionally fall into small cliques. A difference between this tour and tours that I’ve done with other companies is that the guide is not local, and doesn’t speak the Japanese language. However, the guide was very friendly, knowledgeable and available to answer any questions whilst keeping us on schedule. In all, I loved Japan and would encourage everyone to visit.

Hiroshima and Miyajima island are certainly worth the extension of the tour. Sarah was our guide and was friendly and always had great recommendations for food and things to do, wherever we were! Be prepared for a fast-paced tour with not a lot of downtime and I would suggest packing light - you will be carrying your bag up staircases at stations. Be prepared for a fair bit of travel in order to be able to see all of the places on this tour. I would highly recommend coming during Sakura ‘Cherry blossom’ season it it’s an option. It’s why I came in April and it did not disappoint. Was a magical experience. Overall, the tour was really enjoyable and we got to see and do lots in the timeframe! Highlights: -Kendo Class -Deers at Nara park -Karaoke at Kyoto -Takayama; the whole experience here! Such a variety of wonderful experiences endured that I probably would not have had if I didn’t go with a tour company.

They give you time in each location to roam around at your own pace and make sure to carve out appropriate time for all the big attractions. Logistics were well-handled and most of the itinerary was great. The accommodations are decent for the price, although some temples are very poorly insulated, so in the winter it can get awfully cold even with the heater on. One thing they don't really say is just how much walking this is - for Americans, it was between 4 and 8 miles most days, or 20-30k steps per day, often including stairs while carrying your luggage. We packed lightly (no checked luggage) so it was doable, just be prepared. There are opportunities to do laundry, but often the dryers aren't the best, so pack things that'll dry quickly. Sarah was an AMAZING tour guide, she really earned this rating. I would have loved more time with her because she was so fun to talk to and so knowledgeable about the culture and places we visited. She was great at managing expectations, too, so we never felt disappointed or like we got unlucky (particularly with Mt Fuji and the cherry blossoms).

Every moment in Japan has been amazing and I would definitely recommend everyone to go with One Life tours. You get enough free time to explore on your own and loads of sightseeing and activities planned. The tea ceremony, kendo class and sushi class were definitely my favourites of the trip. On our tour we had the privilege of having five tour guides Sarah, Hayley, Alyssa, Brad and Mo. They have all been so friendly and knowledgeable and are all the best tour guides! All the accommodation has been fantastic from hostels to the temple stay you really get a great experience. One of my favourite places was the guest house in Hakone. We weren’t able to go up to see Mount Fuji because of the weather but we were incredibly lucky to be able to see it three different times throughout the tour. I highly recommend sending your bag from Tokyo to Kyoto as it’s very easy to do and fairly cheap. I would also recommend to try and pack light and have enough space to bring back lots of souvenirs.

The tour is jam packed with great sight seeing spots as well as fun interactive group activities that really brings the group together and gives you a unique insight into japans many cultures. Each destination selected really gives you a completely insight into Japan from one another, from busy Tokyo to tranquil Takayama. Our tour guides Sarah, Alyssa, Hayley, Brad & Mo were especially friendly, knowledgable and helped create a great family feel throughout the tour. Just a tip, try to avoid travelling with larger suitcases as there’s many journeys taken via trains and not all stations have escalators. Don't hesitate to book :) defiantly not my last one life adventures tour!

A very well-rounded and well-organised tour that visited the main touristy places in Japan :) I went on the tour with my mum who was worried that she wouldn't be able to keep up with the rest of us young adults. Her only complaint was having to carry her suitcase and bags when we were moving accommodations (since we were traveling via public transport and not by coaches), but I personally didn't have a problem with it (we were warned beforehand to pack lightly and that there were a lot of stairs at the metro stations). We went to a lot of places within 10 days, so some days were more rushed than others (which is to be expected, and not the tour's fault). Still glad to have visited so many places on my first visit to Japan. I plan on going again in a few years (maybe to join a shorter tour to new locations, and spend a few days before/ after the tour to revisit some of the places that we went to!). Japan is a safe place for a woman like myself to travel alone, even during the night. Our Tour Guide Sarah was great at briefing us everyday on our daily activities, and repeatedly reminded us throughout the day when and where to meet up both when we split up during our free time and even when we were together so if we accidentally got lost we'd know where to go. Never had to worry about traveling alone unless you decided to split off from the group (in which case you could ask for directions). I think she looked after us well and took the time to talk to us individually to accommodate our needs. During our free time, we as a group came up with different activities to do which we did one after another (rather than have them all happen at the same time) so that we wouldn't have to miss out on a particular activity. If you didn't want to do a particular activity, you can skip it and meet up again later, do another activity in the meantime or just return to the accommodation for an early night! I suggest bringing a friend or family member along so that you can share your hostel/hotel room together, and get them to take nice photos of you! We have a group chat to communicate and share photos with the rest of the group.

We tried on the Kimono which is one of thing I've always wanted to do, it's exclusive but worth paying to do. The food was great and I've heard the metro bar was really fun but as I'm not a drinker and don't prefer later nights so never tried. Japan is a unique place which I think everyone should visit. It's clean and safe, people live by the rules and well behaved. Excellent transportation so it's easy to find your way round.

We had Sarah as our guide for the first 10 days who was absolutely lovely and Dale for the 4 day extension who was also alot of fun. We had a great group of people which helped as well. All and all the trip is a great pace of doing the planned items while still having a lot of time to do your own thing if you want. I really appreciate that there were no hard sales of extra activities. Extra items if you chose to do them were paid directly to the providers and there was no stress if you wanted to pass on anything. Most of the stats are hostels, but they were all very nice places. I've travelled slot around the world in hostels with different groups and the locations One Life selected were all very safe, clean, and close to major transit stations making it easy to get to and from everything. I would absolutely recommend this trip for anyone interested in Japan and One Life for anyone interested in group travel. Will definitely look to do another trip with them in the future.

Everything is well organised, transport, accommodation and included meals. Obviously seeing so much in 10 days means a fair amount of transport and food from the convenience store for some of the non-included meals. But it's good quality food and I’m kind of going to miss the nice bento box for lunch and the iced coffee with melon pan for breakfast. This trip is definitely full on but it is so worth it. That just means sometime, we chose to rest in our free time or have a chilled evening rather than going out. The accommodations were great. We went as a couple and got a bedroom for the 2 of us all the time, expected at the temple stay and obviously in the capsule hotel. My favourite was the temple stay. There were 9 people in the same room on tatami mat with a futon but it was so quiet, pretty and relaxing. Also, no need to bring a towel, shower gel and shampoo as all the accommodations have some. There are also washing machines and dryers available to use at most accommodations. They also all have aircond which are needed, as it is still very warm and humid at the beginning of September. I would have personally loved to have an extra day in Takayama, which would have also given us a break from travelling with our back bags. All the activities were great and with lovely people. One of the optional activities was the maiden bar which was not as fun as expected but the macho bar is hilarious especially with an extra couple of drinks before going in. It was all of what is said on the brochure and more. Even in Osaka, when you think you've seen it all you still get surprised. On top of the tour, go explore for yourself especially if you like good food or have a bit more budget, we found an amazing sushi place and it is also just nice to get lost in the less busy streets of Tokyo and Kyoto. Finally the guides, Dale who was finishing his training and Sarah who was supporting him were both amazing, kind and super helpful at all times. They did everything so everyone in the group, a bit more than 24 people, felt comfortable and got to know each other. We had some much fun with everyone, it was great to meet people from around the world.

We got to know many beautiful places in the country. The group was great, I met a lot of new people, some of whom will surely stay as friends. The group leader ( Sarah ) was the best we could have. The tour is absolutely recommendable for everyone who wants to get to know Japan. The tour was super organized, you got to know the many different facets of the country in a short time. The balance between group activities and free time was perfect.

Amazing for an organised way to see the highlights of Japan and make friends from over the world!

Truly an amazing experience, with many beautiful spots to stop and just appreciate the scenery. Just remember to pack properly for the time of year you go, the humidity in the summer can be killer!

Positives: Guides: Sarah, our tour guide for the 14 day extension was excellent - she knew so much and was always making sure everyone was having a good time. I really liked how she sent a detailed itinerary the evening before and at the beginning on day 10 she went through the overall plan. Beth who was our guide for the first 10 days was also good - it was her first tour but she was very enthusiastic and patient. Both guides gave great recommendations and were always checking in with us so thankyou to both Beth and Sarah. The itinerary was very fast paced and action packed - I did feel quite tired but also appreciated that we managed to fit in a lot of things. There are a lot of early morning starts so you miss the crowds. We saw so much of Japan and generally the activities were great. The Kendo class was my favourite. The guides organised some lovely group dinners. Most of the accommodation was good especially towards the end of the trip. Possible improvements/ suggestions I think it would help if an itinerary that has all the trains times, scheduled activities and blocks of free time was handed out at the beginning. There were a few things I wanted to do in my free time such as team labs in Osaka but because we didn’t really know when we would be free it was hard to book things before things sold out. I understand it could change a little bit but this would help with booking extra things. The train times were very tight especially with the luggage in the heat and the rain. Please look into baggage storage as there were a few times we went back on ourselves and could have picked the baggage up but because of the timings it was not possible. I think for the tours in the summer this would help a lot. The accommodation in Tokyo wasn’t the best and I think it sets the tone for the trip. Sake tasting was disappointing – we only tasted two and a proper talk wasn’t given. The ferris wheel in Osaka could be a possible optional activity. Notes for other travellers: The wifi isn’t great so bring an Esim. Do the 14 day extension – the places you see are really interesting and very diverse from what you have seen previously. The shopping is amazing and you might need to buy another suitcase.

The transportation went so smooth. Mike was a legend. He showed so much engagement and passion when it came to guiding and giving everyone and good time. Sarah was also such a great guide. She made sure we always did what the group wanted to do and was helpful with planning throughout the trip. If you had any problems you could always go to Mike or Sarah and then they would help you out. I was promised a return Shinkansen ticket which apparently wasn’t One Life’s fault, but Mike and Sarah fixed it without me having to do anything about it.

She goes above and beyond for all her trip members, and regularly ensures to check in with each member regarding their wishes for the trip, if anything could be improved and what we are enjoying. She is welcoming to members from all backgrounds, and it is very evident that she loves her job. Carolyn has obviously immersed herself into the culture of Japan, and remained a steadfast source of information for any questions we had during the tour. She was organised and punctual, and ensured that everything on the trip went to schedule. She was understanding of individual needs, and sought to help suggest options for free time. Overall I would recommend Carolyn as a tour guide to family and friends. Review of Sarah: Sarah is one of the best tour guides I have ever had on a trip. Her knowledge of Japanese history never failed to astound all members of the tour, and it was evident that she has done expansive extra research on the areas of the extended section of the tour. We all felt that this knowledge made a significant impact on our understanding of Japanese history and religious practices. Sarah was extremely welcoming, and we felt secure in her hands from the beginning of the tour. Sarah is congenial, punctual and flexible with the tour members, which helped to really be able relax and enjoy the tour. Sarah always tried her hardest to include all members in activities, and assisted us in getting the most of experiences. She furthermore went out of her way to ensure that we were seeing what we wanted in the final four days. I would recommend Sarah as a tour guide to any of my family and friends.

The guides are very knowledgable and make getting between cities and getting around cities super easy. On that note, if you like trains you are in for an amazing time as you get to take some really cool ones (bullet trains) and some really scenic ones. The accommodation was consistently great! It varied between lovely technological hotels and atmospheric temple lodges. It made it easy to connect with all aspects of the culture. Japan seems to have an endless amount of amazing things to do and see (across a wide range of genres) and this tour is a great way to see some of the best parts. There was never a dull moment on this tour. If you are willing to embrace everything, you will have one of the best holidays of your life!

What I really liked was that I didn’t have to worry about where I was going or arranging anything as Sarah and Mike had it all figured out. Everything we did was fun and the tour was a great mix with culture, food and nature. 10/10 would recommend to my friends!

The tour guides Sarah Daley (for the first ten days) and Mike Mazurkiewicz (for the last four days) were amazing…responsible, capable, approachable, professional, and fun to be with. We partook in many fun activities like Sushi class, Kendo class, Traditional Tea Ceremony, spending time with the amazing deer in Nara. My daughter and I still reminisce fondly of our time spent together, and with the other members of the group with whom we bonded well with and felt part of one big family! This was a trip I shall always cherish and treasure! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I had the most amazing trip through Japan with Sarah and Mike as our tour leaders. Sarah was so much fun, always brought the energy and passion every single day. Mikes knowledge of each destination was on another level. It was demanding on your feet so comfy shoes are a must but this is seriously a once in a lifetime kind of tour, with a jam packed schedule that you just can’t do if planning it yourself. I’m not sure what it is about OLA tours but the people you meet along the way always leave a lasting impression and friends for life. I can’t wait to book my next one

From the moment we were introduced to them, it was clear that they were not only incredibly knowledgeable, but also passionate about sharing their expertise with us and making sure we had the best possible experience. The itinerary itself is excellent and runs extremely smooth– each place seems to have been chosen with care and its an incredible amount of activity in a short period of time. There is a wonderful balance between cultural sites and activities which I very much appreciated. Bring your most comfortable pair of broken in walking shoes (the sketchers slip on sneakers were perfect) and pack light (7 days is the max you will probably need) as laundry is available every 4 days or so. My mom and I made the mistake of overpacking since we weren’t sure of laundry and lugging our suitcase around was probably the most stressful part of the trip. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this guide to anyone planning a trip. Sarah and Mike’s expertise, personality, and commitment to providing an unforgettable experience made our tour truly exceptional. In the past, I have been hesitant to book group tours, not wanting to be shuffled from place to place like mindless cattle – now, I can confidently say this tour has changed my perspective on group tours in general. I realize we went to places I would never have gone to by myself and participated in cultural experiences that have opened up new interests for me. Both Sarah and Mike truly made our trip to Japan not only an unforgettable one, but deeply memorable, and I feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to travel with such exceptional guides.

My guide, Sarah, was very knowledgeable, fun and super helpful. The group of people on my tour were amazing and the tour covered so many experiences and sights but still allowed very reasonable amounts of time to explore by yourself as well! A perfect combination of guided activities and self exploration. It’s hard to pick because everything was wonderful but I particularly enjoyed exploring the harajuku area in Tokyo and the sushi making class. The games night and cooking dinner together at the guesthouse in Hakone was awesome also. I loved Kyoto, especially the day we go and explore the 100 tori gates and then wander around the old town area before getting our hair done and picking a beautiful kimono to wear. It’s a big day (up at 5am and 10,000 steps by 9:30am) but it was my favourite of the whole trip!

Some tours have too much waiting around for other people in the group but I think the balance of activities and spare time worked really well on this tour Because of covid I’ve been waiting for this tour for 3 years and it did not disappoint! A perfect amount of time for group experience balanced with ample time to go and explore personal interests. For the amount of time we had it was not rushed or too intense but still felt as though I’d made the most of every day. Would recommend to anybody in a heartbeat. I believe that getting to stay in temples as a group was an absolute one of a kind experience. On both occasions getting to wake up and participate in early morning chanting and getting traditional food prepared by monks on the second temple stay was truely so special. Takayama was a stunning town with gorgeous people and views and I do wish we had a little more time there to experience that smaller town charm. Additionally, I believe one of the most exciting and unique experiences was getting to participate in the martial art of kendo with an incredible descendant of a samurai. I felt so immersed and loved every second. Lastly, I say with confidence, my tour group Sarah made everyones experience that much more special. She provided us with the utmost of care and catered to everybody needs and interests 100% of the time whilst also being a great friend to us. I couldn't have asked for a better tour leader and could not fault her abilities one bit. We love you Sarah!

It was an unreal experience with a bunch of diversity from cultural days, tropical beach’s, snorkelling, boat trips, private islands, nights out, seeing what the local life is like and enjoying the sunny days the Phillipines have the offer. To name all the highlights in this tour would be nearly impossible, every day it was a new adventure with amazing activities and locations on the itinerary. From island hopping, to snorkelling some of the most amazing beaches and clearest water I’ve ever seen, to seeing baby turtles hatch on a private island. It had been some of the most fun I’ve ever had, it was an unreal experience to meet like minded individuals and to go on a big trip with all of them was truly a once in a lifetime experience. It was an amazing experience to learn a bit more about the Filipino culture on our cultural day where we learnt to do a cultural dance, climb a coconut tree, shave coconuts and cook some traditional meals, we travelled through and underwater river as a world heritage site which truly was amazing. And the tour guide we had Sarah was truly an inspiration to everyone on our trip. I would and have recommend this trip to anybody looking to travel !!

If you’re considering booking, do not hesitate! I made some friends for life, felt totally safe as a solo traveller, and I made memories that I’ll never ever forget. It was the perfect combination of exploring, partying, relaxing and socialising, and one of the best things about the tour for me was that we visited places that weren’t big tourist spots so you could really immerse yourself in the local culture. The island hopping was beautiful and the overnight stays on 2 private islands (one in Port Barton and one in Coron) are once in a lifetime! We were also lucky enough to witness a wild female turtle laying her eggs on the private island stay in Port Barton which is something that I’ll never forget for the rest of my life. I wish I could do it all over again, and if you’re considering it, do not hesitate to book with One Life.

I got to see and experience a lot of the culture, the food, the people and japanese history in these 14 days. I appreciated also the possibility of being able to look for your own highlights in the bigger cities like tokyo or kyoto so it's definitely not a stressful sightseeing tour. And with the overall young group and an awesome tourguide it was a lot of fun exploring Japan! My personal highlight was the Kendo lesson with a descendant of the samurai. It was very interesting to hear his personal experience with the history of Japan and obviously the Kendo itself was great. Another great part of this journey was the oppurtunity to meditate with a buddhist monk and a stay in the temple. Then the tea ceremony in Kyoto was also awesome and generally Kyoto blew my mind it's such a beautiful city. And last but not least Karaoke and having a night out in Osaka has been a lot of fun :D

We got to see and do the most amazing things that we definitely would’ve missed if we had planned it ourselves. Being part of a group also made it so much better, everyone was so lovely and we were all metaphorically and literally in the same boat just wanting to have the best time. Our tour guide Sarah was unreal, she made us feel so welcome, safe and comfortable. She was so knowledgeable when it came to answering questions and was quick to sort out any issues anyone was having at any time. It was the perfect mix of her being in charge but also being one of us and having fun. Being a coeliac made me slightly anxious especially whilst travelling through Asia but I had no problems whatsoever on this tour, I was so impressed by how well I was catered for and without feeling like the odd one out which often happens… My allergy was never forgotten, I could always eat and it was all pretty much the same stuff everyone else was eating so beyond happy with that! There were so many highlights! The island hopping and staying on our private island felt like a luxury holiday! The scenery was stunning coupled with the snorkelling of some great spots, we even got to see a sea turtle just floating about doing its thing. But I don’t thing anything will top the private island and seeing baby sea turtles hatch and letting them go the next day… once in a lifetime kinda thing. A close second would have to be the cultural day. It was jam packed with activities, playing some local games, cooking local dishes and I never thought I’d be climbing a coconut tree but I’m so glad I did it! The hosts were great, you can tell they really enjoy and care about what they do and want to extend that knowledge and fun to the whole group. I couldn’t be happier with the experiences this tour has given me and the hundreds of great photos I now have for memories.

We couldn’t have asked for a better trip Firstly, our guide Sarah was the best guide you could hope for, really fun and easy going but also trustworthy and we all felt safe with her. I really liked the island hopping, I do get boat sick but with how the trip is broken up I felt completely fine and was able to enjoy it as much as everyone else. We had the best time on the private beach for the night and played some fun games with the boat boys who were great too!

I won’t say you have to be trained for things like the hikes, but keep in mind you’re doing a lot physically. The island-hopping and sleeping on the beaches are amazing. As well as learning about the Filipino culture! Overall, I had the best time and couldn’t have asked for a better guide than Sarah <3

We have seen and done so much in these 10 days that it feels like we actually traveled for 3 weeks, but despite the fact that you do so much, it never feels hectic or even stressful. Big YES to that tour and big THANK YOU to Sarah for being the best guide! We have been to the most beautiful beaches, seen baby turtles hatch, chilled on boats, camped on a beach, sat around a bonfire on a private island, ziplined from one island to another, climbed a coconut tree…

The knowledge and experience of the tour guide makes it a lot easier and u find yourself not having to worry about little things you would normally worry about on a solo travel. There is too many on this trip to name ! Seeing the city of Manila and going inside one of the biggest Shopping centres in Asia. Sipping cocktails on the most beautiful beaches in port Barton and island hopping to several of the most amazing beaches I’ve ever seen, to seeing 117 baby turtles being hatched on our private island where we camped for the night and releasing them in the morning. Meeting the Boat boys who chauffeured our group around for a couple days, making us lunch and telling us about how they live and making sure everyone was safe and having a good time. Trying all the different types of cuisines the Phillipines had to offer especially on the cultural day where we learnt to do a lot of traditional Filipino activities such as, shaving coconuts, climbing a coconut tree, stick fighting, stick dancing and cooking a traditional chicken adobo. I could go on and on about how amazing this trip was! Was an excellent experience and am very keen to do another one in the future! The tour guide for our tour was Sarah, she was an amazing guide with tons of knowledge and experience. She also was the most genuine lady and never missed a chance for us to get out there and have a good time. So Thankyou Sarah for making Everyone’s trip spectacular!

It certainly set the standard for how all tours should be. The Philippines has the most amazing scenery I have ever seen. The crystal clear water you travel across whilst hopping from one incredible island to another is breathtaking. Snoring at the coral dotted around got better as the tour went on as there was more and more fish as the tour progressed. Coron certainly involved the best snorkelling. Seeing turtles swimming around was so awesome.

From dancing with prisoners, swimming with turtles, private beach camping, unesco underground river - not to mention the amazing connections you make along the way with the fellow travellers and tour guide. We had Sarah as our tour guide and she went above and beyond, so patient answering all the questions and always willing to give more advice/ guidance. Would highly recommend this tour and Onelife as a whole. I would just say as a side note, that the tour is 10 days not 10 nights, which was not made clear in our booking confirmation which said it finished 16th at 9am, when in fact it finishes on 15th in the morning. Snorkelling the reefs, swimming with turtles, underground river, boat trips, amazing food, amazing connections, laughs and fun.

I loved being with all these young beautiful people and had the best time of any of my tours and this is my fifth southeast Asian tour! I loved the vibe, the fun and the tour it was the best. Sarah was totally amazing and took great care of the family. I would recommend to anyone who loves a outdoor adventure of sea and sun and come soon before the Philippines is overrun with tourist. Raw beauty still somewhat not spoiled by the world pollution. Top notch! Kudos to Sarah and “One Life Adventure!” Take care of this beautiful environment. The snorkeling off Port Barton in Pristine waters. Young people and our awesome tour guide. The food on the boats tours was some of the best I have had, definitely beats any other tour I’ve ever been on!

Our tour guide Sarah was very charming and helpful. I do believe the tour is a nice way to warm up to a country if you do not know the language. One thing to consider, the tour was more like 8 days rather than 10. You meet with the group later in the day on the first day and leave early the last day. The tour and Sara made traveling stress free. It was very nice to not have to plan anything at all. I love staying in hostels. There is a strong sense of community with the group.

You'll be given a brief history at each site and be able to be exposed to modern and tradiational side of Japan. Also nice to have a community and have a guide without needing to plan and very forgiving with time especially if you are temporally lost or 1 - 5 mintues late (hopefully not 10 minutes). However, not recommended if you are extremely introverted and get drained easily thus it is highly suggested to bring along your partner or friend! Also, you must go along with the schedule (have limited time to be at each certain area). Sarah is a very accomdating and friendly guide, I believe she's done a great job at managing our group and is very patient. Thank you Sarah for the experience! Overall, a great experience to meet new people and amazing sights. You'll see famous types of shrines or temples, experience 'sake' tasting and 'ryokan', see Japan specific environments and if brave, you'll get to experience an 'onsen' and a variation of authentic Japanese food and drinks (melon soda!).

Would highly recommend to the people fascinated with Japanese culture who doesn't mind a fair amount of walking. The highlight of this tour would be the amazing hikes up the monkey mountain.

Do it for the experience Getting to see the multiple historic structures and enjoying great food
