About me:I originate from Indianapolis, Indiana and after a lifetime of corn and flat terrain I made my way down under to the “dangerous” land of Australia. My time there was the best of my life, but fearing for my skin and the chances of cancer I hopped on a plane to try out authentic Pho and Curry in Southeast Asia. Some people believe in love at first sight, I don’t, but I do believe in love at first taste and after my first dish of sisig, I was hooked headline and sinker. So after some e-mails and luck and just a pinch of fairy dust, here we are in paradise!

Brooke was always there if we needed anything at all. Her knowledge of the country was great and told us some really cool stories about the history of the other islands.
We got a really good taste of what Bali and Java have to offer. Everything ran smoothly even on the longer travel days in Java, and arrived at the beautiful red island in time for an incredible sunset. Not to mention how lit Mount Bromo is and that’s not just because it’s a volcano!
Java and Gili T are 100% worth booking the tour for!

Brooke, who was our tour guide for the 12 day tour, was calm and attentive to all guests’ needs. She made the tour so much more enjoyable.

Great tour. Loved the surfing, climbing Mt Bromo and Ubud. Kate and Brooke were great and made sure we knew everything we needed to make the tour seem smooth and effortless.

I am 75 most of the group were less than a third of my age but it was so enjoyable. The variety of activities included was wonderful . The accomodation was so appropriate. Three funky hostels which were more like boutique hotels and simple accommodation at Port Barton right on the beach . The island camping was amazing . So many wonderful meals were included and when we went to restaurants at our own expense they were without exception great places some very special and never overpriced . The logistics were flawless yet it was all done in very relaxed way . Finally as one who felt cheated by a large british based tour operator by being given tiny rooms the size of closets having paid the single supplement I was so happy with the rooms allocated to me . The single supplement was reasonably priced and like the tour was great value . How many tours include a massage on the final full day . I thank Brooke and all the One World Team for a fabulous experience and reccomend without the slightest hesitation. I look forward to joining another One World Tour in the Future

Accommodation was good, obviously was never going to be 5 star hotels, but were all clean and fine for time spent in them. Also enjoyed the camping on the secluded island alot!
Overall Great trip would definitely recommend to others visiting the Philippines. Also gives me alot confidence to book future tours with one Life.

I've had such a great 10 days. Brooke really looked after us, and is such a kind and genuine human. No problem was too small (be it about the tour or your life in general). Her attentiveness and attention to detail was great, you'd mention one little thing and she'd follow up hours later. She shows a real passion for the work she's doing and a genuine interest in your life and your story. Highlights were the island hopping days and camping on the private island, unreal! It's a total paradise. If there was anything I'd improve about this tour it'd be more options for Filipino/local food for dinner, so if you do this tour and you're well into trying local dishes, don't be afraid to stray from the group and hunt it out. Other than that it's been an amazing experience that has opened my eyes and my mind in many ways. Thanks Brooke and One Life!

As a first time solo traveller I was a little nervous about going but I couldn’t have asked for a better trip. Visiting an array of Japan’s unique areas (Tokyo, Hakone, Takayama, Kyoto and Osaka) you really get a taste of the variety this spectacular county has to offer through a mixture of incredible sight seeing and once-in-a-lifetime activities. My personal highlight would be the timely temple stay which gave us the chance to unwind after an energising 3 days in Tokyo.
Our tour guide Brooke was beyond amazing, she was so knowledgable and enthusiastic about the areas we visited and always went the extra mile to make sure everyone on the tour was getting the most out of their trip. Brooke’s infectious positivity kept the group in high spirits throughout the tour, particularly on some of the early morning starts to avoid the crowds (which are totally worth it for the photos).
Not only did Brooke keep the group organised and stress free throughout the trip, she also gave some awesome recommendations on things to do and places to eat/drink during our free time to explore.
As cheesy as it may be, this tour really is a once in a lifetime trip and I would recommend it to anyone who is thinking about going.

The whole tour she went above and beyond with everything she did (even carrying people’s backpacks across Japan when they couldn’t because they were too heavy) and she always had a smile on her face. She’s an absolute joy to be around and the most selfless person. She has an amazing aurora about her and she is so interesting to talk to! It’s really nice how passionate she is about her job and One Life too. So glad I can now call her my friend!
Everything else on the tour was amazing too, accommodation, food, activities! All so much fun and I would not have changed a thing!!!! The karaoke on the last night was the cherry on top, perfect way to end a once in a lifetime trip!

There is a lot of eating on the go which was a little tiring but that was the only fault I could find with the experience. I was impressed by the accommodation as everything was spotlessly clean. Japanese public transport is highly efficient and it was so handy to have someone like Brooke who was comfortable with all the trains to guide the way. The temple stay was a real highlight. I have been on tours with other tour companies before so I can compare their standard. I had a great experience with One Life and I would use this company again. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

The two days in Takayama and Hakone are perfectly timed, after the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, giving you a chance to relax for a few days before getting back to a busy itinerary in Kyoto. Brooke was an AMAZING tour guide! She was knowledgeable about everything we saw and was great at getting everyone around efficiently and keeping to schedule. She was also great fun to have around and super calm in every situation. She got us to all the tourist hot spots nice and early to avoid the crowds which made for some insanely good photo opportunities. Brooke was also a great photography and knew all the good photo spots. I thoroughly recommend this tour especially if all the one life guides are anything like Brooke!! Japan is an amazing country and it should not be missed!

We packed so much in in a relatively short space of time, and there were loads of great included activities such as the sushi-making class, robot restaurant and boat trips. I really enjoyed seeing all the different sides to Japan, from the hectic Tokyo and Osaka to the peaceful Takayama, Hakone and Koyasan, with the temple stay and visit to Okunoin at Koyasan being one of my favourite days of tour.
I’d say the communication in the run-up to the tour could be better, with more frequent contact and also receiving the welcome pack and group chat set-up earlier. Sometimes on tour it could feel a bit rushed and not quite enough time is given to fully appreciate everywhere we went. However, I understand that in order to experience as much as we did, we needed to keep to a tight schedule.
Overall, I’m really glad I experienced my first ever tour with One Life and had an amazing time!

Brooke was such an amazing guide ! She is a really caring person and was always on top of her game. She was able to keep the whole lot of us moving from location to location in a safe and timely manner! She always had an available ear for any questions or concerns or any conversation. I loved the accommodation, even though the rooms were small, having a roommate and getting to know everyone in the common areas was fantastic! The meals that were included unfortunately are not what was expected when reading the itinerary. Brooke is an amazing tour guide and goes above and beyond to help when needed. Overall this tour is great if you are wanting to see most of Japan in a short time and meet a great bunch of people :)

Brooke was an amazing guide who took the time to get to know everyone individually and make it such an inclusive experience. Her knowledge and passion for travel was evident, and the support she provided was perfect for first time and experienced travellers alike.

The itinerary was amazing, there was lots of things that if I had travelled on my own I wouldn’t have done, like the kendo class, onsens, shrines and certainly part of Tokyo and these turned out to be some of my favourite things about Japan!
Brooke was an incredible guide, her knowledge of everywhere we went was amazing and if we had any questions she’d always know the answer. She made everyone feel right at home and brought everyone together to make us one big family. She always went above and beyond for us and nothing was ever too much of a bother.
I honestly couldn’t recommend One Life and this tour more if I tried! if you’re hesitating then don’t, go grab your card and book it, you will not regret it!!

I've never had a tour guide so i cant compare her but i can say you won't find anyone better that makes you feel at home in a extremely different country.
She is a very strong girl like extremely positive no matter the circumstances, honestly if you have to wait even a year just to get on tour with her do that! Like seriously it will make your trip feel like you spent more money than bill gates has to his name.
One life was cool but i dont think it matters what agency you go with but it matters which tour guide you have.
In the way of feeling like family, she brings everyone together and feels like she's another tourist having fun with us.
Wish i could rate her better to show how unique she is.

From the start of the tour I have done nothing but laugh, explore and fall in love with Japan.
It's too hard to pick my favourite activity. The robot restaurant is mind blowing and the monkey mountain is insane.
Our tour guide Brooke was incredible. Any questions we asked about the culture and history of Japan she answered, even though she hadn't been guiding in Japan long.
Brooke is a big reason why the tour is so amazing.

Not only was she super supportive throughout she made sure that everyone felt welcomed and was also able to quickly turn a group of strangers into a family. This making the tour incredible!
From her knowledge of the areas that we visited and the information that she provided at the temples provided us with the full cultural experience we wanted. Especially when it came to great food recommendations, which is also very important. Thanks again for recommending Jackson’s curry house in Takayama and also taking us on the optional hikes. Also those strong zeros which are the dream!
Another great asset was Brooke’s time management. Knowing how efficient Japan’s time keeping is, meant Brooke had to get the whole group to certain activities and especially the bullet trains on time. Which once again she absolutely smashed!

Travel itinerary covers a lot of ground and sights in the 10 days so a lot of time is spent in transit.

Typhoon spoilt 1 day of the itinerary but unsure exactly as we were suppose to see Mt Fuji that day but due to a landslide "couldn't get there" though was given the option to go see it after sunset later that day which would have been pointless .. so that was like a day wasted as such as well as the included transport that had been paid for that day.
Included meals that we pay for were poor didn't feel we were given a real Japanese experience with the food being one of the main things that excited me about visiting japan , 75% of the meals consumed on the 10 days being purchased from 7/11 on the go between transit.
Also wish that there was a local accompanying Japanese tour guide with the one life guide to give a more cultural background on sites,temples visited.
I overall had a awesome time in Japan but was slightly underwhelmed in some aspects of the tour.
Honesty is best ;)

I also rated meals as a 3 star as it could have been better, although i do say that we were warned ahead of time that going to restaurants as a big group would be difficult in Japan.
Accommodations were really good, my first time staying in hostels so was a different experience. The temple stay in Takeyama was really nice, calm and relaxing, especially after our weather troubles in Tokyo.
Our guide, Brooke, really made the tour what it was. Good information sharing. Really well done replanning the tour after loosing a couple of days cause of weather. I also fealt that she was actually a part of the tour more so than just a guide.

I’ve never done a travel tour at all and I wanted to do one in Japan so I could get a chance to do things that I never would alone - the Robot Restaurant, going to a maid cafe in a group, going to arc…I’ve never done a travel tour at all and I wanted to do one in Japan so I could get a chance to do things that I never would alone - the Robot Restaurant, going to a maid cafe in a group, going to arcades and photo booths, staying in a ryokan, etc. I had my wishes fulfilled and more!! It was so fun to travel with a group of young adults and meet different people who were all excited to be there. Even though we were hit with a typhoon and some things needed to be cancelled, I never felt like I was missing out. I would recommend booking a few days in Japan before and after the tour. It is hard to move quickly in a group of ~18, and with only a few hours of free time in Tokyo and only one night in Osaka, it can be hard to see everything the cities have to offer. Especially if you aren’t already familiar with the transit systems! But I really enjoyed everything we did there and visiting the more remote areas that I don’t think I would have looked at as a solo traveller. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone looking to get to know Japan a little better, and for everyone a little scared of travelling alone. Brooke was wonderful!! She was a master of rolling with the punches, weather and transit delays and all. If anyone got sick or hurt, she was there to help with meds and first aid. It was obvious that she really cared about all of us and making sure we all had a good time. Words of advice for anyone looking at this tour: there’s a lot of independence that comes with the day plans, so don’t be afraid to ask questions! Don’t assume that your mind will be read if there’s something you need. Pack snacks and water before going out for the day, read up on the weather before going, and keep an open mind.

It was fantastic! The maid cafe and the robot restaurant were wild! We had I nice time at all the shrines as well and our guide was very knowledgeable about what times we should go to avoid the crowds…It was fantastic! My favourite place was probably the Tsukiji Nippon Fish Market (because of the food) but honestly it’s hard to pick. The accomodation is very basic, but always clean and in a great location. Using public transport to get between locations allows you to really experience your honey and see sites along the way like a local would.

On a relatively free day I wanted to do another activity and she spoke to our local guide Ravi and arranged it quickly. Ravi is very knowledgeable and helped us understand the culture and importance of the places better. Between Brooke and Ravi the managed this tour seamlessly. The cooking class and Ella train ride were the highlights of this tour. I’m a vegetarian - rice, dal, coconut sambol and hoppers seem to be the only options wherever we went during the first half of the tour and was quite bored of it. For non-included meals Onelife should arrange for places which have a good mix of veg and non veg items with more variety. The hotel and hostel accommodations were great. I’ve been lucky to have a great group of people on this tour with me; fun, jovial and always looking out for one another.

I arrived late on the first day and even though the group had already gone out for dinner Brooke was easy to contact and organised transport to the hostel for me. The tour itself was an excellent way to get a taste of the phillipines. So much was included in the price which really helped me enjoy the holiday and Brooke had great recommendations for places to eat on the nights when meals weren't included. Loved the three days of island hopping, especially in Port Barton, although the tents weren't the most comfortable sleeping experience. Overall would highly recommend one life and Brooke for anyone looking at doing a group tour of Palawan in the Philipines.

All of our transportation, included meals and activities were high quality and great fun. Brooke made sure we all had a great time and we all got to know eachother very well with multiple ice breaker sessions.
My favourite aspect of the tour was an evening on a private beach, Brooke initiated some games which everyone participated in, we learned my favourite film and many other facts about one another and then had a beach party before crashing in tents to recharge for the following day's island hopping.
I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone in two minds about whether they should go for it or not and I'd like to thank Brooke for her great positive attitude and friendly, approachable demeanor.

My overall experience in Philippines was good, the accommodation provided was basic but comfortable, the meals included were authentic and freshly cooked, met a group of interesting people which was also the highlight of the trip.
It was promoted as a 10 days tour, but if you read itinerary carefully the activities mainly started from day 2 and finished at day 9. Unfortunately, in my tour the main activity scheduled for day 2 didn’t happen due to missing of flight! After a very early start around 5 am, we were stranded in airport for 9 hrs and had absolutely no clue what had happened! We were then told by our guild that we missed our flight because of loss of reservation! Unfortunately, I lost a day of activity! I thought One Life would arrange something else to compensate the loss of my time and money but the communication and the compensation of losing a day activity was very poor, which I was very disappointed....
The week I was travelling with the group was during Easter, it was Holy Week in Philippines, so schools were all closed. I didn’t expect that this would have impact on our tour. Very unlucky again, the activity arranged to visit local school didn’t happen. Shouldn’t this be planned in advanced so alternative activity can be arranged?! As someone like me who only came for this as a holiday, the continuously missing activity was a nightmare!!
Overall speaking, I had good time on the tour apart from missing some of the activities. I met lots of fun people and enjoyed the breathtaking scenery in Philippines.

We were told we couldn't enter places on our own until the whole group were together. Felt like I was back at school a little . I don't want that to seem like a huge negative but it just took some getting used to and luckily didn't matter too much as we had such a fab group!

Firstly, there seemed a great divide between the group and the locals in whom we were interacting, or rather not interacting with. This was particularly evident during the island hoping and beach camping in Port Barton. The locals who drove the boats and accommodated to our needs seemed to be partitioned from us with there was no room for interaction with them. More interaction would of been great, in an effort to learn more about the area and local customs. As well as to create an environment of exclusivity, rather than a 'us' and 'them' environment. Other than this the time in Port Barton was one of the most enjoyable parts of the trip.
Accommodation could of been more comfortable, (besides Puerto Princesa) such as having air-conditioning or more than a half working fan, particularity as there was a heat wave at the time in which this tour took place.
The Itinerary felt like a idle attempt at creating a cultural experience, especially when it came to the prison visit or the Philippine experience. Perhaps leaving the accommodation and taking us through the local towns would of created a less forced sense of cultural experience.
Brooke is a wonderful person, with a lot of love and postie energy. She was a great tour guide, however there were some points were more forthcoming leadership was needed.

The tour we were on was as great as the Philippines itself. Everyday was fantastic, the tour included visiting a prison, sleeping on a private island, island hopping and living the Philippines Experience. No two days were the same and all were a lot of fun and I would not forget it.
Brooke was an amazing tour guide. She was fun to be around, easy to talk to and always made sure each one of us was having the best possible time. She’s a lovely person and a amazing tour guide and I hope I can be in her tour group the next time I come to the Philippines.

I was expecting a lot more from this trip. Z hostel was so loud it was impossible to get any rest (not to mention my room had a family of cockroaches). Z hostel was so loud it was impossible to get any rest (not to mention my room had a family of cockroaches). Visiting the prison was a waste of time (can’t walk around the facility) and I honestly couldn’t care less hearing the inmates stories (2/3 just kept saying the whole time they didn’t do it). Our “beach bungalows” in port Barton was not anywhere close to being a bungalow. It had no air conditioning and a heads up that we were taking bucket showers the whole two days being there would have been nice to know ahead of time. The only good thing I liked about this trip were the water and beaches. Kinda seemed like you guys threw in things on the itinerary just so it looks like there’s something to do (aka canopy walk). The El Nido island hopping needs to be adjusted as well (it’s not a party boat that includes beer and drinks), in fact, our guide told us you can’t drink at all anymore due to prior incidences. Our weather during this was rainy and cold so half of the group would just get out and sit in the water and move on to the next spot and do the same exact thing (very repetitive). I barely learned anything about the Filipino culture which was disappointing.

Personal highlights: the islander experience- swimming with turtles, island hopping around port Barton and a private island. I also loved the underground river and found El Nido a great place to chill and go exploring. Our hostel was really central making it easily to get to places.
Brooke was a great guide and definitely enhanced my experience in the Philippines. I especially loved her knowledge of good local food. There were a few blips but Brooke was always really helpful and did go above and beyond to make sure I was happy and positive. I really appreciated this. The tour wouldn’t have been the same without you and I am very glad to have met a like minded and great person.

We didn't visit a school, we didn't do the kayaking...
Brooke was a nice, enthusiastic tour guide. But she didn't actually feel like a tour guide. She didnt carry around any firstaid kit. Some people pretty badly hurt themselves on tour and she didn't really do anything about it.
I think it could have been a better tour.

Having been on several tours before I can honestly say that One Life met and exceeded my expectations. The tour was packed with a variety of activities, the places we visited were beautiful. The tour was packed with a variety of activities, the places we visited were beautiful. Port Barton really is a hidden gem with fab restaurants, bars and a beautiful beach. The guys working on the boats and cooking for us did an amazing job, they were so friendly and the food was delicious. The highlight for me was camping on the private island, tranquility, no phone signal and getting to know the group. Brook was an absolute star, she got to know each and every one of us individually, was always there to answer our thousands of questions and give us advice. She was never without a smile on her face and was full of energy which was infectious amongst us all! Thank you One Life and Brook for an experience I'll never forget :)

The destinations that we visit in Palawan are beautiful and mostly untouched by tourism, the accommodation is clean and authentic and there really are many special moments on the trip: mooring onto a private island, swimming with turtles and waking up in beach front bungalows.
Travelling over Easter weekend in peak season was obviously not without its problems - beyond the control of One Life. However, I felt that our tour guide Brooke carried out the unenviable job of dealing with these unexpected scenarios exceptionally well. Brooke was always very smiley, fun, gave great food recommendations and had a genuine interest in getting to know everyone in the group, which I thought was a lovely personal touch.
One Life is a fantastic company that really gives back to the countries it operates in. On their tours I feel as though I’ve been able to feed growing tourist industries in a positive and constructive way as well establishing a personal connection with the places - making some pretty special memories along the way.
I really cannot recommend this tour & tour guide enough!

Brooke, our tour leader, was fantastic and I don't think myself or my wife would have enjoyed the tour as much had she not been the guide. She was always friendly, full of life and on hand to answer any questions, would gladly go on another One Life tour with her as our guide again! FYI if you play Monopoly with her remember she's more competitive than she looks - it took a lot of thinking outside the box to stop her winning!
The food on the tour was great - the restaurants organised by One Life were top notch but nothing beat the freshly made food by our private chefs on the island hopping and camping days! Incidentally the overnight camping was my favourite part of the tour - it may seem daunting to some at first but how can you beat a night on your own private island with freshly cooked food (including fish caught by the cooks that day), football/volleyball on the beach, beers and a campfire?...! Accommodation was also very good, especially for the price you pay for the tour.

The night in the tents was a little uncomfortable, but pretty much as expected- it was well worth it for the unfiltered view of the night sky. A few of us never even made it to the tents having spent the night stargazing. Honestly the view was awe inspiring; the more you looked the more stars would appear. This should be a focal point of advertising for the tour.
The included food was a great taste of philippino culture, and the non inclusions had great variety of options!
From the first meeting Brooke was friendly and personable, making us all feel welcome and making introductions within the group as ice breakers. She was always full of helpful information and advice, and would consistently go above to ensure everyone was having a great time. I had some special dietary requirements that hadn't been listed and Brooke was fantastic in helping me meet them. She was so engaging on a social level, sharing her own travel experiences and enlightening stories, as well as informative environmental perspectives; she gave the tour a depth I didn't expect from what could have been just 10 days of sand and sun. She was also a great tour mum; noone had ever worked so hard to keep me moist and hydrated.
I also couldn't have booked the next leg of my trip without her advice and input.
Lastly, her self control was astonishing- she just would not touch junk the entire trip, no matter what was offered.
I've been on several tours before, and an average guide has the potential to make or break it, so thank you Brooke for giving us such a fantastic experience!

Each day was different and held something new and exciting - from beaches, caves, boating, watching sunsets from beachfront bars, and nights out with the group.
Not all meals were included every day, which I thought they were, however the meals were incredible every day - we were spoiled with the meals. Accommodations were excellent and were all hotels, except for tenting one night on a private beach and a hostel the last few days that was just as nice a hotel!
Overall, I rate Brooke and the entire tour a big 10/10! Thank you Brooke for an amazing time in the Philippines!! <3

From the day I met Brooke right up until the last day I had a fantastic time, even when my own energy levels were low she picked me right up and got me back to feeling amazing and enjoying the spirit of the adventure.
The places we visited and the accomodation and good were all phenomenal, it is a backpacker trip so that is something you need to be prepared for but the experience is incredibly authentic. The emphasis on eco tourism and the culture of the Philippines is incredible, it really brings a new dimension to group travel.

I have to say that camping on our own private beach and the island hopping days were just an absolute dream! The food was amazing as well!

It was an awesome tour! It allowed us to see a lot of Japan in just ten days. Our tour guide Brooke took away the stress of travelling in a country where we could not speak the language. Our tour guide Brooke took away the stress of travelling in a country where we could not speak the language. When we had to leave early due to extenuating circumstances, she went the extra mile to make sure we had a good time and got to see as much as possible before we left! It requires a lot of walking, so wear comfortable shoes, but it's worth it to experience everything we did!
We stayed next to Senso-ji Temple in Tokyo, went to a robot show, maid cafe and akihabara. The guest house and family dinner in Hakone were nice, but the most memorable was the temple stay with the option to meditate, practice calligraphy and practice yoga. We saw plenty of historical sights in Kyoto and got some amazing pictures at Fushimi Inari Taisha.
A lot of travel so you have to want to do that. Worth it though. Hard to change money in Java so change enough in advance

The water temple in Ubud, all of Ubud was amazing very relaxing to the mind and soul. The climb up mount bromo which was great, Brooke and Emma really know their stuff and told great stories of the legends and myths around! Excellent!

Mount Bromo is majestic and beautiful and having climbed many Volcanoes in y time j feel that Bromo has something about it that others haven't, almost a spiritual feel. Just felt blessed to be there.

Getting off the beaten track and exploring in Java. Mt Bromo, Red Island- amazing!!!! Loved getting to see places that never make it on most people’s itinerary. Was also super impressed with how much was included in the price- so many activities! Really good value for your money.
