Naturally after not having done in a tour in around 7 years and being that bit older (31), I was slightly apprehensive about going it solo.
However, I certainly had no need to worry. From the moment Lyndsay met me at the airport I couldn't have felt more at ease! For anyone on the wrong side of 30 I would definitely recommend intro, there was certainly a mixture of ages and we all mixed in so well together.
The tour - EXCELLENT! The perfect way to see all the fab highlights of Sri Lanka. But not so busy you don’t get a moment to enjoy them! The itinerary had the ideal about of programmed time but also downtime where you could chose to do your own thing. That could be just reading a book or heading out on another hike. Whatever you chose to do Lyndsay would also help arrange anything you wanted to do out with the arranged plan.
Speaking to hikes - not being the fittest of people even I managed. Lyndsay was always there to see we were ok and there was no rushing to the top. So for anyone in my boat, don’t let that out you off. On each of these hikes the view was always worth the effort!
Accommodation - I really had no idea where we would be staying would be of such a high standard. Having traveled many countries I was expecting backpacker hostels, b&bs etc. It’s certainly more flashpacking thank backpacking!! The hotel in Ella blew our minds when we woke and opened the curtains.
Food - breakfasts all included and were all excellent. You’d have to be VERY fussy to go hungry on this trip. Same goes for the included dinner/lunch. Spot on!
Transport - great spacious bus with air con and some tunes. We all had our own seat so perfect
Opportunity to just have some downtime, enjoy the scenery and take it all in. No huge long journeys, max being around 3 hours. So compared to some countries it’s nothing. No wasting precious moments on buses.
Lyndsay - excellent at her job! Knowledgeable about the country and the tour. If she didn’t know the answer she would find out. Always available, nothing was a hassle and it was clear she was passionate about her job. Always vigilant about the group, keeping things safe but without coming across strict/bossy. As I’ve said nothing was ever a bother for her!
So if you’re thinking about booking with intro Sri Lanka - don’t hesitate! It’s hands down now one of my favourite countries! A huge thanks to Intro and most importantly Lyndsay for making it all possible and making sure we got the best out of our trip!

I was apprehensive about coming to the country after some of the troubles however were reassured that there were no issues. There was a heightened police presence in the cities and hotels were taking security seriously. The country certainly appears quieter as a result but will gradually pick up I suspect over the next 12 months
Intro Travel: this is my 4th trip with them. I really enjoy using Intro as everything is taken car of and all I have to do is turn up. The huge benefit of using Intro is the people you’ll meet on the trip - I can’t stress the importance of this and I think this has to be the biggest selling point. People tend to be between 20 - 35 from my experience
Cost: The trip for me was £1,000 which was the most I have ever spent on a trip. I think this is a lot of money for a country like Sri Lanka, but would still say this was good value for money. I spent £300 spending money whilst here however spent a lot of time drunk so could be done with half that.
Transport: You get taken around in a big [comment removed in moderation] coach - so much space to lounge around. Never had anything better or even on par. Driver is also a top guy!
Tour Leader: Unfortuneatly she is Scottish but does redeem herself be being one sick human being. Had a good crack with her and loved every minute
Top Tip: bring bug spray - it’s essential!

Lyndsay in particular was spectacular - she was energetic and outgoing for the entire trip, always considerate of everyone’s wants/needs, and hell-bent on making sure we had a cracker of a time in Sri Lanka :) There were a couple of changes to our itinerary due to reasons outside of our control - wet season landslides and the monastery visit falling on an important Budhist holiday - but Lyndsay/Intro did their best to keep us on track and give us interesting alternatives. Accommodation was stellar with great facilities overall, with the only exception being the hotel in Dikwella which was nothing noteworthy (my room also flooded due to some pretty intense rain!). Vast majority of the places we visited for lunch and dinner had a great range of options and reasonable pricing. Sri Lanka is an amazing, beautiful country and I felt like I saw all of the best spots with Intro with a great mix of adventure (multiple short hikes, surfing in Welligama), culture (awesome local guides, Budhist monastery, tea plantation), food (village lunch and a dozen great cafes and restaurants), sight-seeing (popular photo spots, temple/ it’s tours) and relaxation (pool and beachside chill-out afternoons). Love, love, love!

Sri Lanka is a beautiful country and I feel I have had a really well rounded trip including hiking, cultural visits and downtime at the beautiful beaches. Seeing elephants on the safari was amazing as well as hiking to see incredible views of Sigriya Rock. The accommodation in Ella had breath taking views and the other accommodation was great particularly the eco retreat. I would like to say a huge thank you to Lindsay our tour leader who was amazing throughout the trip, her energy was great throughout and she organised every little detail for us and nothing was too much trouble to organise, I haven’t had to worry about a single thing! I have made some great new friends from this trip and I would 100% recommend coming to Sri Lanka with Intro Travel.

Intro also distinguishes itself from other tour companies through its unique local experiences such as a monestary visit and local village cooking demonstration (plus you get to eat the food!) If you need to organise trips before or after, the staff are more than happy to help you out (Prasad is a local who knows everyone and he can organise accommodation and transport!) We really enjoyed the tour. Overall the trip and the itinerary were nice, the hotels, besides Hotel J, were really good. Our guide was funny and full of life. We were the most oldest of the group and it shown a bit, it was not the tour of rather guide fault but even if sometimes we felt a bit on our own. Still, Sri Lanka is an amazing country and Intro Travel really has a great tour showing different aspects of the culture, the scenery and the people in that country.

I have had the most amazing tour. From day 1 when being picked up from the airport and arriving at…I have just finished the Sri Lanka 12 day tour with Intro Travel and now heading for the airport.
I have had the most amazing tour. From day 1 when being picked up from the airport and arriving at our hotel in Negombo, I have felt relaxed. I travelled to Bali with Intro last year, which was amazing. So it was an easy decision to choose Intro again to show me beautiful Sri Lanka.
The intinery has so many different experiences from the Tuk Tuk tour, visiting the beautiful budism temples, climbing Pidurangala to the top with monkeys and seeing unforgettable views of Sigiriya rock. I think one of the most surreal moments was when we got taxied further into the jungle to meet two lovely Sri Lankan women who cooked us fresh food and showed us how they build their home from parts of the coconut tree. They also allowed me to climb their tree house where they sleep at night to spot for wild elephants that may come too close and damage their crops. Then we saw one when we were leaving. Amazing!
The tour also includes visiting Blue field tea plantation and learning how they cut and process different types of tea. The pictures from this day sent my social media into a frenzy.
I think another unforgettable moment was taking the famous blue train from Kandy to Ella. This journey is otherwise known as the worlds most scenic train journey in the wold, and it definitely did not disappoint. The journey was breathtaking!
Also amazing instagramble moments of little Adam’s peak, nine arch bridge and Ruwanda waterfalls, and the famous coconut hill of Mirissa.
Another highlight was of course Udawalawe National Park. Getting picked up by safari jeeps and taken round the gorgeous home to families of elephants, peacocks, tucans, beautiful birds and watching the morning swim of buffalos and crocodiles. We were so close to elephants who were playful and squirted us with water. Ideal for that perfect selfie.
After a week of adventure you then get to head south when the tour takes another direction into the land of surfing, relaxation and yoga. The talalla echo retreat was so beautiful. Healthy food, zen atmosphere and meditation before heading to the paradise beach hotel in Mirissa where we spent the last few days exploring, sunbathing and playing in the huge waves of the Indian Ocean. Paradise!
One word to sum up this tour ..... unforgettable!
I also want to say a huge thank you to our tour guide Lyndsay who from the moment I met her at the airport, we laughed, shared stories and had so much fun. She made our travelling and activities run so smooth and has so much passion for her role and Sri Lanka. This was clear to see very early on.
Also another big thank you to our local guides of Sri Lanka Mahan, Prasad and Chamod. They were so kind, humble and taught us so much on the history and culture of Sri Lanka. Especially Chamod who took us to the monastery, where we able to teach young monks in training. Such a rewarding day.
And I can’t forget our bus driver Nilantha who actually travelled us to all the amazing destinations. The big camper bus was our home for 12 days. It was so clean and comfy. He let us play our music, sing, dance and laugh all the way around Sri Lanka. And provided us with fresh cold water the entire time! Such a kind and helpful man. Thank you Nilantha!
I would recommend this tour as it has such a mixture for everone. I’m in my 30’s and also Travel solo and within a few hours I met friends for life.
I’m researching my next intro tour when I get home. Either japan or Vietnam.

I feel the tour has offered a balanced, range of high quality experiences to absorb the culture, food, wildlife, adventures and awesomeness of the country. Lyndsay has been an amazing tour leader throughout... offering support, information and helping to bring the group together. Her energy, passion and consideration of individual and group needs truly stand out. I would highly recommend this trip. Thank you for an inspiring holiday.

The spots that we visited were great. Not a change to visit some of them by yourself.

Would suggest arranging nights out for days when an early start is not scheduled the following day to avoid the risk of not meeting travel arrangements.
Would suggest removing monkey beach visit, would be just as good to view from boat and less invasive in to their habitat.

I had an amazing time on the Thai Intro Tour! I only did the 9 days but I really wish that I could have stayed on and done the 18 days. Lyndsay has been such a good tour leader - she knows so much abo…I had an amazing time on the Thai Intro Tour! It has a perfect combination of nature sightseeing, cultural awareness and chilling next to the gorgeous beaches.
I would like to highlight the accommodation and the food. The places we were staying to were so unique and unforgettable. Even when we didn’t have included lunch or dinner we were always receiving a lot of recommendation where to go and what to eat.
Can recommend it for sure!
The tour was good with a variety of things on the itinerary. However it could have been improved if the guide was more interested in her job. Some meals out felt like they were cut short as she was rushing you out the door to go back and sit in the hotel, and seemed to be really annoyed when people ordered dessert so we couldn't leave.
Information given prior to some activities were limited and we, as a group could have been better informed. There were one or two miss-haps with rooms and accommodation that the tour guide did not get involved in to help, we were left to resolve issues ourselves. There was also an issue with one of the people on the tour arriving a day later to the tour due to flight cancellations. It didn't seem as though she was offered much help heading to our next destination. The morning of her arrival we were having breakfast and the tour guide arrived alone which made us question if the new person had arrived as they were sharing a room with the tour guide the night they arrived. Turns out they had arrived and the tour guide had just left them in the room while she came for breakfast instead of waiting a few minutes to then bring the new member of the group to breakfast and introduce her to the group.

The tour itself was great, the itinerary was well thought out and having a private bus to take you from place to place was a great benefit. The guiding wasn’t great, she didn’t seem like she wanted to be there for a lot of it and seemed stressed about her job. But there were moments where she was friendly and helpful.

Sri Lanka was an incredible experience. It is hard to choose a day or activity that was my favorite because there was such a range on the itinerary. The only thing I can say would’ve been better is if our tour guide were more knowledgeable and helpful when we needed. Most times she did not know the answer to our inquiries or would give incorrect information.
