I would have never seen and experienced so much in such a short time on my own and certainly wouldn't have discovered some of the spots. The tour was the perfect mix of history, legends, short hikes, city and picturesque landscape. Thanks to our guide and driver Rich, you not only quickly build up a personal relationship with the country and its people, you also hear great (personal) stories, gain knowledge and have a laugh. Rich, you are a marvellous storyteller! Not to forget that thanks to his numerous tips we enjoyed wonderful food every day (for every budget) and an unforgettable evening in the pub! Thanks to him, everyone was in a great mood, open-minded and the very diverse group grew together quickly, so that on day 2 you already have the feeling of a road trip with friends. I couldn't have wished for more, happy to do it again!

We saw everything on the itinerary and more, made even more personal through the stories told by Rich our wonderful guide and his two up-and-comers DJ Dan and J-Mac. Bonus points for good tunes.
The boys made sure everyone was included in both the educational and social aspects of the tour, and went out of their way to provide an unforgettable experience for all.
Morag’s Lodge was clean, cosy and welcoming. Food was great and very affordable.

Our main driverguide Rich was absolutely fantastic, a wealth of knowledge, entertaining us with cool stories about Scotland without ever boring us. Cool dude! Also the driverguides to be, Jaime and Dan, were great, providing us with even more local insights from Skye/Oban and were really cool to hang out with.
I would do this tour anytime again (or maybe a longer one next time). Stunning landscape, lots of cool stops at hidden gems, so every hour we would stop at least once.
Morag's lodge at Loch Ness was compfy too and they sell superb meals for just under 9 GBP.
Even if the weather rainy, as you're moving on their yellow busses, you can see the Scottish Highlands pass by outside while being in the warmth - and after the stops your stuff will dry quickly as they have heating next to the seats :)
Once Corona-virus allows you to travel again, look for no further than Haggis Adventures if you want to explore Scotland!

The big yellow bus has gained a few more followers but other than the occasional refuge from the rain it felt like we were off the bus more than on it. From Bonnie Prince Charlie on Drummossie Moor to the faeries on Skye and William Wallace in Sterling (and many more in between) you are definitely not left wanting. Topped off by the accommodating Morag’s Lodge (try the pie - you won’t regret it), and of course our tour guide Rich and the two trainees Dan D and Jamie Mac who’s knowledge, humour and sound, welcoming personalities brought this tour to life. I couldn’t recommend it more.

I had an excellent time on tour with Rich. He is very knowledgeable about Scotland and puts a fun adventurous twist on Scots history. The trip being short, he made it very easy to feel comfortable and connected to the group very early in the trip. The bus was very comfortable, which was a pleasant surprise. The locations were very picturesque and scenery was phenomenal. To pump up to the next level, it would've been great to experience certain Scotlands night life or go to a local bar. The hostels night life consisted of people only on tour.

Carrie's storytelling skills and Rich's laidback warmth were highlights, and their enthusiasm and passion for their work was infectious. Both Carrie and Rich went out of their way to ensure we had a great experience on each leg of the tour -- for example, when heavy rain cut short our day on the Isle of Skye, Carrie drove us back to town so that we could get changed and warm and have an early lunch, ensuring that we still had an enjoyable experience despite the weather, while Rich made sure I got a ticket for the steam train even though I had been unable to book before hand, due to unavailability. The tour itself was well-laid out, the itinerary thorough, and both guides made the transition between groups, from the first leg to the second, smooth. I felt, afterwards, that I had a chance to experience all the highlights of Scotland, and in great company. The accommodations were basic but adequate, with all necessities provided, and I never felt rushed despite the sometimes early mornings (which were balanced out with multiple nights in one location and free days for exploration). Thank you to Carrie and Rich for making this tour such an enjoyable experience!

Rich is an elite tour guide. He is insightful, quick and thoughtful and no request is too big or too small. He has an incredible knowledge of Scotland and a bevy of jokes up his sleeve. I can't recommend Rich enough and would advise future travellers to request him for their tour. Absolute legend.

The tour was well organised and excellent value, striking the perfect balance between spending long enough at each location and moving quickly enough to see a lot (without having to get up ridiculousl…The tour was well organised and excellent value, striking the perfect balance between spending long enough at each location and moving quickly enough to see a lot (without having to get up ridiculously early in the morning). The guides, Rich and Fiona, have great senses of humour, thick Scottish accents :), and great stories. Both of them went above the call of duty to make sure the tour was as good as it could be.
My only real complaint is the fort Augustus hostel, which is owned by Haggis Adventures. The quality of the hostel basically makes the price they charge price-gauging. Charging a good 20% more then anywhere else we stayed was not justified, given the rooms are so poorly ventilated. I can't believe I'm the first to complain about this, so only having one small desk fan in the entire hostel to help with ventilation is ridiculous. As a final note to Haggis adventures, oranges make a very poor choice for a bus-breakfast.
All in all, a great tour, would happily recommend (though probably don't get accommodation bundled and organise alternative accommodation for fort Augustus).

The hikes were beautiful and the historical places and castles were amazing. The buses were clean and quite safe. The hostels were all very nice and one had continental breakfasts otherwise you would have to pay around 3 pounds for breakfast which isn’t that pricey. I would recommend bringing a towel if you don’t want to pay a pound for one there. Rich was really helpful in providing places to eat at each stop which had a diverse pricing range.

Rich was very good at planning what we were doing every day and made sure everyone was happy with the daily itinerary. We got to see so much of the highlands, and this sightseeing was paired with deep descriptions of the history of each place provided by the guide. Rich knew so much about the history of Scotland and provided captivating stories with a fun sense of humor. The transport was very nice and comfortable, with music chosen by the group playing during the long drives. Rich was a wonderful driver, and made the transport very enjoyable with jokes, history, and good tunes. The accommodations were good as well, as the hostels were perfect for our needs. Check in was smooth at all of the hostels and they all had good food and atmosphere, as well as easy access to everything the towns we were staying in. Rich always provided a plethora of food recommendations, from eating in the hostel to restaurants. All of these meals were delicious and reasonably priced. Rich made the tour very worthwhile with his fun energy and knowledge of Scotland. Overall, the tour was amazing and very worth the money. I’ll definitely be returning for another tour at some point in the future!!

Throughout the 10 days, we visited many beautiful landscapes and Scottish towns. Although rain had gotten in the way on some days, but our guides did their best to bring us to alternate locations. The ceilidh near the end was a perfect finale to the Scottish experience. I had so much fun on this tour, it was very sad when it ended. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to explore Scotland.

We had a small issue with the bus that we were in which was handled by the staff quickly and very professionally. I would go on a haggis tour again in a heartbeat. He gave excellent recommendations for our free time or meal times, and every day, on top of taking us to the planned spots, he always added some special landmark to show us and an interesting story or two to tell along the way. He was helpful and friendly, and it is clear this is a guy who loves what he does – he has a yellow bus tattoo to prove it! This was my first time to Scotland, and I'm so glad I booked with Haggis Adventures. I would not have seen as many places or had as many experiences in the given time just traveling around on my own. This was a great value for the itinerary, and was also the perfect way to see and do a lot as a solo traveler. I'm already making plans for a return to Scotland, and I can't thank Haggis Adventures enough for a great first-time visit to bonnie Scotland!

Tours are not typically my go to experience, but seeing as this was my first solo trip, I thought it would be a great way to explore Scotland and I was spot on. I did a bit of research before settling on Haggis to ensure I would meet my balance of "guided" aspects versus self exploration, and I found it to be a perfect fit. Enough time and space to venture off while still feeling I was being brought to the places I would want to see and experience. Rich was our tour guide and he was incredible. Hands down a joy to be riding next to (shot gun) on the bus and made a great sparing partner for side chat! His stories, knowledge, and love of Scotland seethes through and it was amazing to go back to Edinburgh, go to museums and think "oh, I heard a story about this". He really made my trip feel connect and special and I appreciated him greatly as a guide!!

Couldn't pick a favourite, they're both great :-) You do a swap over in the middle with a couple days around Loch Ness. It was a great experience, I'm still friends with lots of the people on the same tour and we've visited since etc. You see so many things and have a great time, I am so full of Scottish facts now. My only regret is that I got so drunk partying at Morags on the changeover day I sleepwalked out of my bunk bed, hurt my bum, and tried to climb back into someone else on my tours bed.... I regret falling out, not drinking excessively ;-) 10/10 would do again.
I also went away with Haggis January 2019 to Up Helly Aa, for this week away we had two guides, Duncan and Kirsty. Also couldn't pick a favourite. Fantastic trip, probably not the one for those not wanting to pull an all nighter (per above, I had a great time dancing and so forth and this time fell out of zero beds!). Having the day off after the all night party was a great change to the schedule and we fitted in all the sights on the other days.
I would definitely recommend these guys for tours, at least the longer ones I did! They were great fun.

The Haggis Adventure team were hilarious and are extremely kind and patient with answering all questions. Our main guides were Rich and Ian who did a fantastic job, shout out to Steve too! One of our tires on the bus blew out, and they were able to quickly resolve the situation in 40 minutes. My favorite part of the tour was the Ceilidh night, HIGHLY RECOMMEND, it was so much fun! If I traveled back to Scotland, I would definitely consider booking with this company again. I felt safe in Edinburgh, and by the end of my time there, knew the main streets and landmarks. Transportation is wonderful as well with the tram and buses. Gin in scotland is terrific!
Cons:
As a solo traveler it was hard to connect with backpackers in the beginning, the group was about 40-50 people. A good chunk of people came with friends, you have to be extroverted if you are alone. Compared to smaller tours where the whole group becomes a large family, the group here gets divided due to the number of people. There's a large amount of free time (this is positive and negative), you need to plan beforehand the activities you want to prioritize. For a first time backpacker looking for a packed itinerary, I would not recommend unless you are comfortable with nagivating solo around a city.
Recommendations:
1) First Day Dinner - On the first night we went out to a bar that had really affordable drinks. However, it was difficult to talk over the loud music, and figure out who was in our tour group. If there was an option for travelers to join a planned dinner the first night, I think this would allow people, especially more introverted ones, to talk and get to know each other before going out.
Tips:
A) Torch Tickets - Even if the tickets get sold out when you book this tour, you can try to buy them in person once you arrive in Edinburgh. I did not realize this until it was too late, and I heard others talk about successfully getting their tickets.
B) Loony Dook - Bring a costume that will keep you warm while you wait to jump in. Many people wore animal onesies. Be as creative as you want to be!
C) Breakfast at the Central Youth Hostel - On the first day we got a ticket for one breakfast. The next day, you need to directly tell them at the counter that you are on the Haggis Tour. I did not know that, and ended up paying for breakfast.
D) Cash Only - The last stop on the tour is cash only at the bar. Otherwise, Scotland is great in that you can pretty much use your credit card everywhere.

He went above and beyond to make sure we were all having a great time and comfortable, he was also absolutely hilarious and treated us all like close friends (in a good way of course), he did an awesome job of telling us the history and stories of the Scottish Highlands while also making us laugh heaps! Each town we stopped at he made sure to show us where everything was and made sure everyone knew what they were doing, offering further help if anyone didn’t! The only thing I did not like that much were the showers in the hostels in Portree and Oban. They were push buttons that flicked off aftet 15 seconds, making it very hard to wash hair and get warm. There was also no visible way to adjust the temperature in these showers. Aside from that, I would recommend this tour for anyone who wants to see the highlands. Also Rich has an adorable laugh

Both were fabulous for the following reasons 1) excellent drivers and always concerned about our safety as in (watch traffic crossing the road here, path likely to be slippery, take your time) 2) incredibly knowledgeable about the locations and the history. Always sharing new facts and information. Unbelievable base of knowledge - really impressive.. And I loved that they obviously love and are proud of Scotland. 3) kind, witty, fun, and courteous, a great combination. Both were super well rounded fellows. 4) real givers - never holding anything back. If they knew good places to eat, we were told, pubs? we were told. Places to avoid, we were told. They were really present for our group in spirit, word, and deed. Honestly we couldn't ask for better leaders and guides. I hope you give them both a good bonus. They deserve it. They work very hard.

I really enjoyed the Hebridean Hopper tour, I would never have been able to see this much on only 5 days. The itinerary was great, we never drove for too long, had enough stops along the way, even tho…I really enjoyed the Hebridean Hopper tour, I would never have been able to see this much on only 5 days. The itinerary was great, we never drove for too long, had enough stops along the way, even though stops at major sights were sometimes way too short as we were always rushing to the next spot. There were a few random coffee breaks when nobody was really in need of one, and the weirdest was having stopped for coffee after 30 mins of driving from the hostel. To compare: we stayed at this random coffee place for 40 minutes and had under 30 minutes to visit Eilean Donan castle. There might be a some kind of agreement between certain establishments and Haggis Adventures to bring the tourists there, but I remember us as a group being upset over such situations.
The comfort level of the hostels varied greatly, Heb hostel in Stornoway being the worst with 1 bathroom per floor and a very small kitchen. Not having to queue to the bathroom always felt like winning the lottery.
The detour to and overnight stay in Assynt was one of the best things that happened during the tour, as the ferry to Stornoway broke down. Redoing the itinerary to include one stay in Assynt as opposed to 2 stays in not so great Heb Hostel in Stornoway is advisable, since the sceneries there are amazing and the hostel we stayed at one of the best during the whole tour.
Rich was an easy going, knowledgeable and entertaining guide. He did however behave differently with different people. He was very friendly and socialized a great deal with some, but didn't really talk to others unless he had to. At first I thought I was just being overly sensitive and imagining things, but then it turned out a few others felt the same way. I have no idea what caused this behavior, but it did make me feel uncomfortable and upset about the unequal treatment.
Also, before the trip I inquired about bed linen and towels in the hostels and was told that all will be provided on site. Wanting to minimize the weight of my baggage, I only brought a small towel with me. Turns out, towels had to be rented at the hostels. It was only 1 pound per rental, but had I known that I would have brought my own.

We had Steve on the first 3 days, very nice guy but definitely not as good of a tour guide nor driver, not bad but need improvement. Let me explain, Besides Steve's accent he doesn't communicate as well and doesn't repeat instructions clearly. Many times nobody in the bus knew exactly what he had told us (we all had different versions) or when we were supposed to come back to the bus. The fact that the rear speakers didn't seem to work (I pointed this out to him) didn't help, we moved forward in the bus on day 2.
Generally speaking it would be nice to have a daily itinary with aproximate stop times so we can plan our day (and belly). Steve posted a map of the tour with stops listed only on day 3 :(

One critique of the itinerary is that it would be nice to have more time in the towns where we stay at an hour when the shops are open! I wanted to shop for gifts but everything was closed by the time we got there.

We had the chance to hike, canoe, relax on the beach, and dance to traditional Scottish dances and music. The group took a step back in time as we walked through beautiful castles and ruins. I would definitely come back with my sister in a heartbeat given the chance to take the tour with these two gentleman again. The trip is perfect for anyone travel solo or in a group.

Highlight would have to be the Celidh at Ghillie Dhu which was really really well run/organised, especially for beginners, and just heaps of fun to be a part of. Our guide Rich was so friendly and approachable throughout the tour. He had plenty of stories to tell about the town on the walking tour and was lots of fun on the nights out.

There were always interesting little stops to make and interesting facts and banter and songs to keep our spirits high. Calum and Rich were the perfect tour guides on our bus and there were extra Haggis Helpers at every night stop to make sure our accommodation was all sorted on our arrival.
I'm not an extrovert and usually dread forced social interaction but the tour was so perfectly arranged that everyone had the option of sticking together or doing their own thing every night. I was so busy having fun with pub quizzes and Ceilidhs and beach parties that my family got cross I wasn't sad about not being home for Christmas.
Would highly recommend this tour to any Christmas Orphans wanting to do something with a limited amount of time and money.

It certainly met all my expectations and more and if you are lucky enough to have Rich as your driver/guide then you have struck gold. He certainly made the tour more interesting and fun and told brilliant stories as we travelled along. He was extremely considerate with the needs of each individual in his group and his communication skills are second to none. I met some really lovely people too so all in all a wonderful trip with lots of fantastic memories.

We fit so many amazing sights into 5 days. Rich was hilarious, witty and so knowledgeable. It seemed like every landmark we passed he knew the history, lore and had some sort of personal story, which made time on the bus fly by. The total group was about 30 people - a combination of 2 bus tour bookings, with the Haggis Adventure folks staying in hostels, and the Highland Explorer folks staying in hotels. Rich went out of his way to accommodate the guests, and even helped me get a last minute ticket on the Jacobite steam train, which was a highlight of my time in Scotland. We were usually on our own for lunch and dinners, but Rich always had great recommendations and many of the bus group mingled and ate together for meals. We had a blast at the pubs in the evening and enjoyed much live music. I made lovely friends on this trip and would recommend this company to anyone! Already dreaming of my next visit back to Scotland.

A bit of advice if you want a good seat, arrive early and get int he queue. We were last on the first day and had an uncomfortable seat in the back of the bus.

We stayed in the private accomodation and thought it was fantastic, although the food at the 2nd place wasn't that great. The quiz at morags was also very good.
Rich took us to interesting and beautiful places and always had a good recommendation for food/drinks in Edinburgh as well

There was a real mix of people on the bus, and the tour really did have something for everyone. You don't have to be a party person to enjoy it! (Though there are some good pub nights).

I didn't know what to expect from this tour other than it went to a bunch of places all over Scotland. IT DID THAT AND MORE! Holy coo! This was a jam packed adventure! I can't even begin to list all …I didn't know what to expect from this tour other than it went to a bunch of places all over Scotland. IT DID THAT AND MORE! Holy coo! This was a jam packed adventure! I can't even begin to list all of the attractions, but they were all great (and put Stonehenge to shame) ! The first leg of the journey was guided by Fiona and Gillian. They were a great duo! Unbeknownst to me, we would tour through Scotland with a handpicked soundtrack matching the destinations and geography (the music major in me was thrilled). The distances traveled could be long, but the music, bathroom breaks/wee "cheeky" stops for photos, and scattered attractions (as well as the beauty of Scotland out the window, come on!) made it beyond bearable! The second leg of the journey was guided by Rich. This dude! He's great fun, and I'm gonna miss his humor for the rest of my travels T-T <3! His selection of music was great, but if you're unhappy with it, don't worry, he lets the "fam" put in requests! He took us to some amazing places too. All the guides tell great stories (to be taken with a grain of salt, aye). I am beyond satisfied with Haggis Adventures and the guides we got for our 10 day journey through this amazing and beautiful country! Thank you Fiona, Gill and Rich for the best introduction to Scotland a girl could ask for!
