- Days 1-2
Hanoi, Vietnam

Halong Bay & Pu Luong

Pick between kayaking in the mangroves or visiting My Son ruins. If you choose the ruins, go early before the heat kicks in.

Ho Chi Minh City
Stay in District 1 to be close to everything. Bike to the Cu Chi Tunnels in the morning but remember insect repellent for the jungle areas. Watch the sun set over the Saigon River from one of the city's rooftop bars.

Siem Reap
Welcome to Cambodia. Get up at 4:30 AM to see the famous Angkor Wat sunrise. A recent visitor noted: "Bring a scarf - temples require covered shoulders and the morning can be chilly." You can either bike through the countryside or visit the floating villages.

Cardamom Mountains
Experience luxury tented camps while exploring this remote area on foot and by kayak. Pack clothes that dry quickly. The humidity means regular fabrics will stay wet overnight.

Koh Chang
Cross into Thailand and take a 30-minute ferry to Koh Chang island. Go kayaking between islands and snorkel at Koh Yuak. Water visibility is best in the morning before the afternoon winds start.

Bangkok

Hoi An

Hanoi
It's a 2-hour direct flight. Stay in the Old Quarter but be ready for street noise. "Request higher floor rooms facing courtyard for quieter nights." See the Ho Chi Minh complex first thing since it closes at 10:30 AM. Book an evening food tour to discover the best street food spots.
- Days 9-10
Halong Bay
The drive from Hanoi takes 4 hours. Take a 2-day cruise to really experience the bay. "The morning tai chi on deck was magical, but bring warm layers - winter mornings can be chilly and misty." Look for cruises that go to Bai Tu Long Bay where there are fewer tourists.

Hoi An
Fly to Da Nang (1 hour) then drive 30 minutes to Hoi An. Stay in the Ancient Town area. Take a cooking class that includes a market visit. "The morning light makes Ancient Town's yellow buildings glow - perfect for photos before crowds arrive."
- Days 13-14
Ho Chi Minh City
Take a 1.5-hour flight from Da Nang. Stay in District 1. Visit Cu Chi tunnels first thing in the morning. "Take early tour to avoid heat - tunnels are hot and claustrophobic even in cool weather." Use your last day to see the War Remnants Museum and Ben Thanh Market.

During this trip, you have virtually nothing to worry about, as the itinerary is truly well-planned and most transfers are included. Nevertheless, you should be prepared for the fact that many activities are not always included in the price, and you should therefore anticipate needing a slightly larger budget. However, you are not obliged to participate in every activity; you can also simply use the time to yourself. All in all, I am extremely satisfied and had a truly wonderful time in Southeast Asia. I met many great people.
