      Halong Bay

      The drive from Hanoi takes 4 hours. Take a 2-day cruise to really experience the bay. "The morning tai chi on deck was magical, but bring warm layers - winter mornings can be chilly and misty." Look for cruises that go to Bai Tu Long Bay where there are fewer tourists.

      Hoi An

      Fly to Da Nang (1 hour) then drive 30 minutes to Hoi An. Stay in the Ancient Town area. Take a cooking class that includes a market visit. "The morning light makes Ancient Town's yellow buildings glow - perfect for photos before crowds arrive."

    • Days 13-14

      Ho Chi Minh City

      Take a 1.5-hour flight from Da Nang. Stay in District 1. Visit Cu Chi tunnels first thing in the morning. "Take early tour to avoid heat - tunnels are hot and claustrophobic even in cool weather." Use your last day to see the War Remnants Museum and Ben Thanh Market.
