10 Days in Western Europe, incl. Paris and Rome
A 7-day adventure takes you from Mount Pilatus's peak via world's steepest cogwheel railway to Bellinzona's medieval castles. Rome's Colosseum and farm lunch at Cooperativa Coraggio round out the trip, including Gotthard Panorama Express journey.
- Days 1-2
Paris
Start your trip in Paris. Most hotels won't have rooms ready until 2-3 PM, but you can store your luggage and begin exploring. Visit the Eiffel Tower on your first afternoon - book tickets in advance or you'll wait 2+ hours. Take an evening walk through Le Marais. The next morning head to Montmartre around 9 AM before the crowds arrive. Have lunch near Sacré-Cœur before catching your train to Switzerland.
- Days 3-4
Lausanne
The train from Paris takes about 4 hours. Stay near the Old Town for easy access to main sites. Visit the Gothic cathedral in the morning to see sunlight streaming through the rose window. Take a short train ride to Lutry (15 minutes) to explore the UNESCO Lavaux Vineyards. You can get detailed trail maps from the Tourist Office to walk between villages.

Lucerne and Mount Pilatus
After a 2.5-hour train ride to Lucerne, walk the medieval Museggmauer walls to get your bearings. Access them near the Nölliturm tower. Visit Mount Pilatus early the next day to avoid crowds. Bring extra layers since the summit is usually 10-15°F cooler than the city. A recent visitor shared: "The cogwheel train up Pilatus is incredibly steep but offers unbeatable views. Sit on the right side for the best photo ops of the lakes below."

Ticino Region
Take the Gotthard Panorama Express through the Alps to Bellinzona. You'll need to change trains at Arth-Goldau. The large windows offer great views of Switzerland's mountain landscapes. In the evening, walk to see Bellinzona's three castles lit up at night.

Rome
The morning train to Rome via Milan takes about 6 hours. Visit the Colosseum area when you arrive but book skip-the-line tickets online first to avoid long waits. On your second day, visit the Cooperativa Coraggio sustainable farm in the morning. Spend your last afternoon walking through Trastevere around 4 PM when locals start their evening passeggiata.

Both the tour guide and Driver are excellent. The Ibis Lausanne Crissier hotel service is very poor. I would prefer staying with a better hotel.

This itinery was fast anf furious but loved the variety we had. My only complaint was the tour was in two sometimes three languages making it tiring and unable to concentrate. This would be the only reason we would not book euromundo again.The guides were terrific and very helpful
