Rome & Vatican City
Arrive in Rome in the evening and head to your hotel. "Via Cavour is perfect for your first night - plenty of restaurant choices and you can ease into the Roman atmosphere." Start Day 2 with an 8:00 AM panoramic tour of Imperial Rome. Book your Vatican Museums tour well ahead of time - waiting lines often stretch 2-3 hours during peak season.

Florence
Leave Rome early for a 3-hour drive north to Florence. Visit Piazzale Michelangelo by 11:00 AM to avoid the midday heat. Take an evening walking tour to see Ponte Vecchio and the Duomo. "The evening tour was perfect timing - the marble facades glow beautifully in the sunset light."

Lucerne and Mount Pilatus
After a 2.5-hour train ride to Lucerne, walk the medieval Museggmauer walls to get your bearings. Access them near the Nölliturm tower. Visit Mount Pilatus early the next day to avoid crowds.
