Drive on to Borjomi for a 3-hour hike along the Borjomula River but bring good shoes since the trails get muddy.       Vardzia Cave Exploration

      Tbilisi Exploration

      Visit Trinity Cathedral around 10 AM before the crowds gather. Take the cable car up to Narikala Fortress, but wear sturdy shoes. "Walking down from Narikala offers incredible city views, but the stone steps can be treacherous – stick to the handrails." Spend your evening exploring the sulfur bath district of Abanotubani.

      Mtskheta & Journey to Gudauri

      Leave Tbilisi early to avoid traffic. Drive to Mtskheta (30 minutes) and start at Jvari Monastery. The morning light makes for great photos of the river below. Spend about an hour at Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. Take the Georgian Military Highway to Gudauri (2-3 hours) and stop at Ananuri Complex. The road gets quite winding, so bring motion sickness pills if you need them.

      Kazbegi Region

      Get an early start to Stepantsminda (formerly Kazbegi). You'll need a 4x4 vehicle for the bumpy 30-minute drive to Gergeti Trinity Church at 2,170m. A recent visitor shared: "The hike up to Gergeti Church is challenging but worth every step. Go slowly and bring water – the altitude hits you fast." Try to see Mt. Kazbegi in the morning before clouds move in.

      Kartli Region & Borjomi

      Drive to Gori (2 hours) and visit the Stalin Museum if you're interested. Next is the cave city of Uplistsikhe. Wear good shoes since the ancient rock stairs are smooth from centuries of use. It's about 1.5 hours to Borjomi, where you can try mineral water right from the spring. The park has well-marked trails but watch for mud after rain.

      Vardzia Cave Monastery

      Get to Vardzia by 10 AM (2-hour drive) before it gets too hot. You'll climb lots of stairs and walk through narrow passages in the cave monastery, so skip this if you're claustrophobic. Bring a flashlight for the deeper caves. In the afternoon, visit the restored Rabati Castle in Akhaltsikhe.

      Lake District Return to Tbilisi

      Take the scenic route back through the lakes region. The road by Lake Paravani isn't great but offers beautiful mountain views. Plan for 4-5 hours with photo stops. You'll reach Tbilisi by late afternoon, perfect for some final Old Town shopping.
