My favorite part was canyoneering - it was a lifetime experience! I loved our nights out together and also our little halloween party celebration!(haha) We met lots of great people and ate super good food in very nice places.
We love our group leader, Fretchie. She was amazing and very open minded. She is a super funny person! It was a super super cool and informative 10 days with TruTravels! Thanks for that! And I also know how to surf now, that is so great! I love it!

I like the canyoneering adventure, Siquijor island tour, Siargao island hopping and the surfing lesson. All accommodation was also good.
It was truly an amazing experience! All activities were good and amazing and very much enjoyable.
I recommend this tour to all backpackers because you experience so many adventures, meet a lot of nice people, learn about Filipino culture and enjoy hiking, swimming, snorkelling and many more! Come and explore the Philippines with TruTravels!

The itinerary was great and I could take a few things off of my bucket list. I really enjoyed the boat trips with snorkeling and beach time. We've seen some amazing places, you normally only see on the internet! It was as well very interesting to meet the local family for lunch and spend time with the tribe in Castaway. Gives you a really good picture of how they are living and that we are very privileged to live the way we live.
Would recommend this trip for sure , for people who are interested to have the chilled beach life and learn something about the locals. Thank you for the great time!

The highlights are hard to pick out but one thing that does stand out is the Castaway experience. Meeting the locals, cooking with them and dancing with them will be a memory I'll cherish forever!
Fretchie has been an incredible tour guide. She is very informative, extremely helpful and a lot of fun! Thanks to her for doing an amazing job and taking this adventure to a level better than I've ever expected!

The Castaway experience was a particular highlight - the food was great and Fretchie was able to introduce us to the local tribe and bond the group together which is something I would never have done if not for this tour.
Overall, it has exceeded expectations and I'm so glad I came! 10/10 for Fretchie! She's awesome!

Fretchie always made sure we knew the next day's plans and told us what we would need for the day. She also was very informative on the history of everything. She would introduce us to local families and help us communicate with them. She took us to great dinner places and always gave us options on what to do after dinner. She would join us and in the singing and dancing, too! She makes me regret not doing the full 19 date tour! Thanks for everything for Fretchie! Those are memories for a lifetime. Fretchie was funny all the time, making an amazing and very friendly atmosphere, you can easily forget that you are traveling alone! When one of the girls needed to go to hospital, Fretchie helped her with everything and stayed with her while the rest of us continued or snorkeling.
I personally like all the places that we have visited and as a solo traveler I never felt alone during this trip! Thank you, Fretchie for this amazing experience and telling us all about the Filipino culture!

The highlight of my trip has to be Canyoneering, mainly because it was SO MUCH FUN!!! Never in a million years did I think that I would jump off a 15-meter cliff! The second highlight has to be riding the waves in Siargao, the instructors are fantastic and they keep helping you until you ride those waves - with me, that meant lots of help!
Philippines, you have been truly amazing!
For anyone out there even tempted to do this trip, just book it! There won't be any regrets, I promise! X

I particularly enjoyed the canyoneering with the 15-meter optional jump! Definitely the highlight of this trip.
Snorkeling with the sea turtles and chasing sunsets have given us photos and a lot of beautiful memories that we will take home with us. Thank you again, Fretchie!

It was full of excitement and lots of laughs! The group really got to know each other and everyone has a fear of heights! But we also decided as a group to try the new zipline going to the starting point of the canyoneering! It was amazing! The scenery was incredible! We had no regrets of facing our fear of heights at all!
I must also mention my tour leader, Fretchie, she has been incredible from start to finish. Anything we needed to know or any information about the Philippines, she was able to answer! She is such good fun, too!
I will definitely be recommending this trip to my friends and family! Salamat!

Our tour leader was very attentive and helpful throughout the trip and she was also really helpful when I got ill by even coming to the clinic and checking up on me! I was okay and she explained the future options for me in case of the worst.

She went beyond to make us feel comfortable. Our itineraries were explained clearly. We knew what was going to happen, everything was easily noted down, the group chats were very useful. The trips were organized well and timed. She explained all the histories and traditions of Bali and the other islands we've visited. She let me not forget about how great the food was. Not knowing how well to use the Balinese money, our team leader explained everything clearly to me. I learned how to haggle at the market and brought some good items to take home with me!
Travelling as a solo, I didn't know how to swim or haven't been to the ocean before but the team leader was very kind to ask the local swimmer to help me in the ocean and show me a few tricks in snorkeling and swimming!
I had a great group leader and a fantastic 10 days! I loved it!

I loved all of the activities and the destinations that we traveled! I really do feel that I got the full Bali experience from the cultural side to the beautiful beaches!

The trip was stress-free in terms of being well organized, and everything being paid for, so you don't have to worry about anything which is one of the main reasons I'd recommend the tour!

Canggu was great! I really enjoyed all of the activities, especially surfing at the beach! It was also great to visit the temples and learn lots about the culture in Bali, we even got to see traditional Barong dancing!
Ubud was super chilled and the hotel was really nice, there were lots to do. I was glad we got to visit the markets and the monkeys. i also did the sunrise trek up mount butler which was really beautiful . It was nice to end the tour and give it a as it gave us some down time to chill, relax and unwind.
Fretchie, our tour guide was so much fun! She was also very helpful and made sure we were all set for traveling after the tour and she went out of her way to organize extra activities like the hike and sunrise paddleboard yoga. And both were amazing!
Overall, I've had the best time here in Bali and would totally do it all over again!

The cooking class was a very good way to get an insight into what Indonesian people eat + how they cook it. I loved going to the temples and Rice Terraces to experience the culture of Bali. My favorite activity was snorkeling with the sea turtles. I met loads of lovely people which I will miss being around.
Our group leaders were so helpful and enthusiastic about every activity. I would definitely recommend this to tour as it was so much fun and I also learned loads about Bali's culture.

Surfing and snorkeling and getting to swim with the sea turtles were my favorite activities. I like that activities were on your own choice whether you wanted to participate or not. The food was really good. An overall amazing experience with great memories made that I will treasure and remember. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! Would definitely do it again!!

I don't think we could have fit in as many things if we were to have traveled on our own.
Our tour leader was beyond fantastic. We went on holiday to celebrate a friend's milestone birthday and Fretchie went out of her way to make her feel incredibly special, even organizing a vegan cake plus flowers! Her energy and vibe were always upbeat. Fretchie's recommendations and suggestions were always on point and she was flexible to go with the flow such as when transport was late, etc.
The service providers in Bali also made the experience memorable that everyone is so friendly and hilarious.
Overall, I had a great time and would gladly do another true travels experience!

Canggu - really enjoyed the 10th of August! Excellent day filled with surfing, lunch at Potato Head and dinner at the local restaurant. It was my 30th birthday, Fretchie was great and organized a birt…Canggu - really enjoyed the 10th of August! Excellent day filled with surfing, lunch at Potato Head and dinner at the local restaurant. It was my 30th birthday, Fretchie was great and organized a birthday cake and flowers which made the perfect ending. Fretchie remembered my dietary requirements at each stop we made as I am lactose-intolerant. Also experienced my first beach party at Sandbar, it was so much fun. At the end of the evening she walked us through the taxi station, looked after our safety.
Ubud - truly felt the heart and soul of Bali going to Temples, local guide was informative. Experienced cooking class at the local compound, learnt new recipes and how the people live. Loved the local market. Wood working is a large part of the culture.
Gili T - great ending to our tour to relax on the island. During snorkeling, I felt seasick and took a local ferry back to Gili T from Gili Air which our leader arranged.
I would gladly do another tour with Fretchie as leader!☺️

Fretchie's guidance was truly a game changer. She kept us together with her easy manner. And despite all the activities, I never felt rushed or pressured by her. She has so much patience and a lovely way with people.
My highlight of the trip was the surfing day and party into my sister's birthday. Her birthday dinner was also made special by Fretchie, who ordered a surprise cake for the event! Going out of her way to make it vegan friendly.
My difficult moments in the trip where do to my physical faults - climbing Mount Batur was tough and I struggled with seasickness on the snorkeling boat trip, so I decided to end it early and was kindly and sufficiently assisted by Fretchie to take a ferry directly back to Gili T.
Thank you so much for the wonderful experience! I would definitely do another trip with TruTravels and Fretchie and recommend this experience to friends! Xx

Canggu - I had a lovely time during our stay in Canggu. Temple Runs and walks to viewpoints were great. I enjoyed that we ate dinner as a group on each night at recommended places. I enjoyed that we ate dinner as a group on each night at recommended places. Party night was also fun, as we celebrated my friend's birthday. Surfing lesson was challenging for me as I have no balance, lol, but I'm glad I tried it out.
Ubud - I had a superb time visiting the waterfall, eating local food, which was very delicious, and shopping at the local markets. Did tons of walking around, too. The cooking class was also really enjoyable Dash it was nice splitting up into stations and getting to make and participate in each dish our host and his home was lovely. Monkey Forest visit was a bit short - a bit disappointing that some sections were closed because of ongoing monkey vaccinations. The highlight was definitely getting that special monkey selfie!

Ubud accommodation was sufficient. Activities were fantastic! Cooking lessons were brilliant. The hike up Mount Batur was amazing despite the weather which cannot be helped. Monkey forest was good. Local market was good, too.
Gili trawangan accommodation was great, modern and efficient, good central location. Snorkeling activity had to be one of the highlights of the trip. Really enjoyed the Bike Tour too. Night scene was nice and chilled, too.
Overall, a terrific trip was had! Really, really enjoyed the tour and Fretchie is/was an accommodating, kind, genuine leader and would easily do another tour with her!! Many thanks!

For me, the surfing day was the best! It was more than what I expected and the company really helped us learn. There is nothing in my opinion that can be faulted with regards to this trip. Just a little more time to chill out by the pool maybe, lol.

I enjoyed most of the activities. I didn't enjoy the temples but that's just my personal preference. There were a few things that I didn't think we would be doing like the coach rides, they were a bit long so I didn't get much sun, lol! I loved the surfing, snorkeling, all the pools and especially the beach!
Overall, Fretchie was brilliant! I couldn't have asked for a better tour guide! She was fun, caring and has a very lovely vibe about her. She was always full of energy. She was always organized, no hassle at all! I don't know how she does it.
I can't wait to book another tour! Xx

All activities and the trip more enjoyable and were varied ensuring there was something for everyone. A good range of fun activities as well as cultural experiences. The accommodation has been very nice with very few issues. All rooms have been clean and of high standards.

While the tour keeps a fast-pace and leaves you feeling quiet tired, it is a tiredness earned through doing so much amazing things!
I really enjoyed the chilled nature of canggu, I loved seeing all of the temples by all of the homes. And the surfing lesson will stay with me for a long time.
Ubud was wonderfully different, the stream of motorbikes gave an energy to the place and it was great fun trying to haggle at the market. The walk up the volcano gave stunning views, I even met a monkey! And the monkey forest was great to explore.
The highlight of the trip was the snorkeling around the Gili Islands. It was amazing to see the underwater statues and swimming with sea turtles.
However, what makes this trip special is the people you spend it with. From Fretchie, our awesome guide, to the other lovely people we met. Well, we started as strangers with a common love and curiosity for Indonesia, many of us have left as friends and I hope to keep in touch with many of them!
It was the perfect way to start our honeymoon.

Her consistent upbeat energy and personality has kept as all in high spirits - especially on some of the earlier starts! Starting our trip with a group welcome meal was brilliant - not only did it give us an opportunity to try some local Indonesian food, which was so tasty, but it was great to meet other people on the tour, bonding and having a laugh, whilst having a few cocktails on a roof terrace. What I've Loved about this experience is the range of activities with done! Visiting local temples, wearing a sarong, was such an eye-opener two different cultures and different ways of life - I found it fascinating!
Our cooking class was a once-in-a-lifetime experience - actually learning to cook different dishes - as a local was so inspiring! We then got to serve our meals to the whole group Dash I have never cooked something so flavor some in my whole life - I can't wait to recreate this when I get home!
The highlight of the trip for me, where the surfing and snorkeling trip because they are activities I've always wanted to do, but being too scared to do by myself! I would 100% recommend this trip to anyone - by far the best time of my life!

Everyone we met on the tour and who facilitated the activities were very friendly. And the activities were lots of fun! The tour provided us with a good mix of activities and down time. The facilities in all hotels were great and staff in all hotels were great.

My favorite part of the trip was surf lessons, as a beginner, I was unsure how I'd take it but by the end I was loving it and didn't want to stop!
I also loved how my whole group have become so comfortable and friendly with each other, I have always been made to feel included and welcomed which goes a long way for a Solo Traveler like me!
I feel like there has been a perfect balance of activities and rest time, allowing me to have a brilliant experience through their activities but also it has felt like a holiday as there has been chances to relax and take in the location.
I would certainly recommend this to her to anyone who is looking to experience Bali!

Batur hike was really tiring but very good, even we when couldn't see the sun, it was still good and definitely worth it.
I enjoyed the dinner in the evenings together. Fretchie had the positive energy we needed. She was really amazing and entertaining. If it wasn't fretchie, it wouldn't be so good as it was. I really enjoyed the time with her!!! We had a lot of fun. Because she was so fun, too!
The hotels were also nice and friendly, clean and good. I had a really good time. The cooking class were so good! It was really interesting. The monkey forest was fun, too. I like a lot of what we did. Watching the sunset with the others after the bicycle trip on Gili T was really good and beautiful! We had a good time together!

There was a misunderstanding for the airport pick-up, one girl that we waited for took a private cab and we waited in vain, but Fretchie took care of it.
The time in Canggu was amazing, I liked the fact that you could decide for yourself whether you wanted to take it slow or go out and have a good time. In Ubud, I loved the cooking class and how friendly the local guides were. Though the day of the volcano hike and the rice terraces was quite exhausting, I had a massage in the evening to soothe the pain

My absolute favourite activities were the Port Barton island hopping, the zip line in El Nido, canyoneering in Kawasan and the surf lessons in Siargao! Although I loved all the itenerary on this tour. The accommodation was great in all islands. Fretchie was our tour guide and was great, couldn't have asked for anything better, she was very organised with all the transport and restaurants/bars and was there if we needed anything. She also gave us great history from the Philippines. Overall it's been a fantastic and I would highly recommend to anyone. I thoroughly enjoyed this tour.

I have never done anything like this before so, I was initially nervous coming out. However, with Fretchie knowledge and support, I instantly felt safe and comfortable. The trip was planned out and organized very well. Fretchie always kept us informed with what we were doing and made the experience incredible! She was always up for all the activities and showed us the bars/clubs to go to and would always stay with us making sure we were having a good time! I would definitely do another tour with her as the tour guide.
I will definitely use TruTravels again, and can't thank Fretchie enough for the best experience of my life!

She always kept everyone going even when she was tired. Some highlights were surfing lesson - lots of fun - the instructors were very attentive. You felt safe and had nothing to worry about. The cooking class was so well organized with a group of 18 - everyone was involved and helped /make Indonesian food. The best part was eating the food after we had all made it together. The snorkeling was definitely my favorite activity again we had good guides / instructors who helped us to make the most of the experience, seeing turtles was a real highlight.
I feel the backpacking tour is good value for money and I would definitely consider booking with TruTravels again. This has been an amazing experience. Thank you, Fretchie, for making the trip SO AWESOME!

You have a lot of down time & personal time at the hotel to explore the city as you like but at tourist sites you may be limited on time.
Fretchie was a very fun & entertaining tour guide. You will have non-stop laughs with her. She makes everyone feel comfortable & makes time to sit & talk with everyone (does not show favoritism). She was very helpful with making sure you know how to continue your travels. She knows all the right angles for taking pictures. I also liked how she took pictures of the taxi before we gpt in it.
Overall, this was a very relaxing tour. The most adventurous part was the optional sunrise hike that you pay for separately. Which is a must! Surfing was so much fun! This tour stops at all the major IG locations, but I wish there were more stops off the beaten path where most tourists don't know about. I was a first time solo traveller & it was a great tour to get your feet wet.

Well scheduled, line up worked well. The temple tour was brilliant given that the local, lovely Wayan, gave us and knew about the rich history behind not only the temples but also the culture.
Fretchie was quite informed given that she is not only from here but she has only been here for 3 tours prior to ours. She was fun and patient with us and our demands. Fully aware and always ready to show us a great time even when she was probably tired; that is professional.

I am very happy with all the activities that we took part in. I thoroughly enjoyed the water sports - surfing and paddle boarding at sunrise - the waterfall was also amazing! The monkey forest and rice terraces were very enjoyable and insightful. The cookery class gave us an insight into life among an Indonesian family. We experienced life in their homes. We made the traditional religious offerings and I learned so much by talking to the family. We took part in so many fun activities that I would never have thought of if planning the trip myself. I would never have pushed myself to do surfing and found out I was quite skilled at it.
Fretchie has been very kind, carinf and helpful leader. I had lost some important items when in Vietnam and was very kind to help me even when it wasn't her responsibility. She went above and beyond!

Our group became a proper little family and I felt like I had known everyone for ages! This was a lot to do with Fretchie creating such a fun, welcoming atmosphere! I was genuinely sad to part from the group.
All of the trips were fantastic with all stress and worry taken away. I felt safe at all times and thought the itenerary was perfect! I did everything I wanted to whilst in Bali + Gili.

Its hard to choose a highlight when everyday was phenomenal, the beaches, snorkelling and island hopping the tour encourporates were breathtakingly beautiful. Being castaway and learning the local ways of living was definitely an experience not to be missed and to be involved with the traditional cooking and basket weaving with the local family was just incredible. Fretchie was so much fun throughout the tour she always made sure everyone was well looked after walking us home from nights out, taking us to great places to eat, ensuring we all jelled as a group. I wouldn't hesitate in booking another tour with tru travels, I've made friends for life and hope to see them again soon!

From start to finish seeing the most breathe taking spots of the Philippines combined with great people I'm now lucky enough to call friends was incredible. The tour was well organised with the perfect balance of activity, adventure and down time. With all the itinerary planned out you really can relax and take in the beauty of this place.
The highlight for me being the days spent island hopping and snorkelling. The landscape of El Nido, the colour of the water and sunsets were mind blowing. Port Barton, our initial travel day, and castaway also gave us the opportunity to spend some time with the local community, playing basketball with local kids and being privileged enough to experience how generous the Filipino culture is, was truly humbling, they really will share everything with you.
Fretchie was a brilliant tour guide throughout, nothing was too much trouble, she has so much local knowledge, we had some birthdays on tour and she even organised cake!
If your apprehensive about travelling alone this is without a doubt the place to start so dont be, your tru travels family will soon be all you need

My favourite part of thr trip was canyoneering at Kawasan Falls. It was so well organised and being nervous about hwights, I felt safe there and managed to do all of the jumps!
Seeing the turtles and sardines was amazing and we had plenty of time to snorkel and see what else the ocean has to offer. The surf lesson was great, I wasn't expecting to have my own instructor, so this was a bonus and meant I could stand up in no time. Our tour guide Fretchie was incredible throughout the trip. She was informative about the history of the Philippines and their culture and would share everything she knew before we even asked. She's also a great photographer and wouldn't hesitate to take a million photos for everyone.
She was so kind and welcoming and felt like I've know her a lifetime, thank you for making this an incredible trip Fretchie! ❤️

Im a veteran backpacker having visited most of Europe, S.E Asia, Sth America and the U.S.A, doing things my way, on my time frame. I can honestly say I am a Tru fam convert and had the amazing time on the 19 day Island hopper tour. I wouldn't change a thing. If you think you can experience the itinerary we did in 19 days with such ease and carefree, I challenge you. Action packed canyoneering, waterfall jumps, rope swings and zip lining all await you and easy days cruising between deserted islands and castaway experiences. There isnt a van, ferry, boat, plane, night out or island hopper trip I would change.
I decided on Tru Travels due to its eco friendly stance, involvement with charities and the opportunity to give back to the community. The Philippines is filled with stunning waterfalls, beaches, Island hopping and lagoons. We all want that picture perfect photo for instagram free of rubbish and plastic. The Beach clean ups give you the good vibe feels and really do make a difference for little effort. The locals are learning too! Go tru for helping us all make a difference. Our tour guide Fretchie was so passionate about the environment and community it really filtered through the group, collecting unwated clothes at the end of the trip for victims of Typhoons and volcano's.
Our group was from all over the world, UK, Aus, Italy, Namibia and Germany to name a few. The group gynamics throughout and the good vibes we all shared really came down to our tour leader Fretchie. What a kind, gentle, smart, inclusive and all around amazing human with a soul so pure and giving we all felt like family. 19 days wasnt enough time in her company to be honest. No matter the time of day her bubbly personality, commitment to ensure everything was 100% really showed.
Fretchie is an absolute valuable employee to Tru Travels and I want to boldy highlight this to her in my review. Forever going above and beyond.
