- Day 1
Arrival & Settlement
Arrive at Iguazu Airport in the morning. You can fly into IGU on the Brazilian side or IGR on the Argentine side. Your hotel choice is important because border crossings will add extra time to your excursions if you stay on the Brazilian side. The Mercure is a solid choice. One visitor noted: "The hotel had a nice jungle setting with a pleasant pool and hot tub. The food was just as nice."

Argentine Side Exploration
Get to the park when it opens at 8 AM to catch the best morning light for photos. Plan to spend the full day here exploring the extensive walkways. Take the ecological train to Devil's Throat first before the crowds arrive. It's a 25-minute ride. You'll need water and rain gear since you'll get wet from the falls even on the walkways. If you're up for some adventure, try the Gran Aventura boat ride. One recent visitor said: "The boat ride was insane - they get super close to the falls. Bring a waterproof phone case or GoPro, and don't count on the poncho keeping you dry!" The experience includes a 4x4 jungle drive to get to the river.

Brazilian Side & Departure
You only need about half a day for the Brazilian side where you'll get those iconic panoramic views. Start early to beat the heat and crowds. US, Canadian and Australian travelers should note they'll need a Brazilian visa starting April 2025. Don't forget your passport for crossing borders. A previous visitor shared this tip: "Having a guide really paid off here - they handled the border crossing and knew exactly where to take us for the best views. In the big crowds, this made the guided tour worth it a hundred times over." Schedule your departure flight for the afternoon. The Brazilian side usually takes 2-3 hours plus transfer time. Border crossings can take 30-60 minutes depending on traffic and lines at immigration.
3 Day Iguazu Falls Itinerary, incl. Brazilian & Argentine Sides
Iguazu's 275 waterfalls cascade through a three-day itinerary across two countries. Brazilian panoramic views start the journey, followed by Argentine Devil's Throat and Upper Circuit trails, ending with a leisure morning. Optional Great Adventure boat ride approaches San Martín Falls.
- Day 1
Brazilian Side of Iguazu Falls
Start at Puerto Iguazu Airport and head to the Brazilian side of the falls first. This gives you the best panoramic views and helps you understand just how massive the falls are. You'll need about 3-4 hours to explore this side properly. Try to arrive before 10 AM to beat the crowds and avoid peak heat. The main walkway is almost 1,000 meters long with incredible front-facing views. One visitor shared: "Watching the falls from the Brazilian side gives you the perfect overview – bring a waterproof camera cover, the mist reaches everywhere!" Take the glass elevator near Floriano Fall for a great elevated view. In the afternoon you can visit the Bird Park (Parque das Aves) right outside the falls entrance. It has walk-through aviaries with rare tropical birds and takes about 2 hours to see everything.

Argentine Side of Iguazu Falls
Plan a full day for the Argentine side where you can get much closer to the falls on extensive walkways. Start at Devil's Throat Circuit when the park opens at 8 AM before crowds arrive. Take the ecological train to the Garganta del Diablo walkway. It's a 1km walk each way on metal paths over the river. After lunch explore the Upper Circuit (about 1 hour) for wide views and the Lower Circuit (2 hours) to get close to smaller falls. You can book the "Great Adventure" boat ride to go right under some falls. Wear clothes that dry quickly and sturdy water-resistant sandals since walkways get slippery.
- Day 3
Final Morning & Departure
Spend your last morning revisiting your favorite spot or walking nature trails near your hotel. The subtropical forest has lots of wildlife like coatis toucans and butterflies especially early in the morning.

Everything was well coordinated the drivers and guide Sandra were terrific. I would have liked more time tough to walk the lower trail see the bird park and even Iguazú town. But the falls were spectacular!
A very good tour. The local guide (Rene) met us and adjusted the itinerary for 1st day because our flight was late. He also updated us on the following days and any options available. We had an early start on the 2nd day. Rene was very knowledgeable about Iguazu and avoided crowds in most of the viewpoints. The boat ride was the highlight and a must-do for Iguazu. Because of the hot weather, we finished around 3 pm and returned to the hotel to enjoy a very good World cup game between Argentina and Australia. St George hotel is well situated with a lot of restaurants within walking distance. All in all, no issues, and very satisfied.
