Walk the Salzburg-Styrian Alpine circular trail through the Schladminger Tauern, where over 300 alpine lakes and waterfalls sit beneath the Dachstein glacier. Take the cable car up Hauser Kaibling summit, then head into Talbachklamm gorge near Schladming to see limestone formations and cascading waters.

Hiking through Styria takes you on trails around the Gesäuse National Park where limestone peaks shoot straight up, and you'll cross suspension bridges over the Enns River with waterfalls all around. Routes range from easy valley walks to tougher climbs up to mountain huts.

Summit Hoher Dachstein via the historic route first climbed in 1834, crossing the Schladming Glacier and hiking the 500-meter Notgasse rock gorge with ancient carvings near Brandalm. You can choose a valley hike below the Dachstein south face or take a steep 1,000-meter cable car up.

This route has some tough alpine hiking with daily climbs of 850m up to Hofpürglhütte and 1,108m to Goiserer Hut via Trockentannalm. You'll summit Hochmühleck and cross the exposed ridge at Dachstein Südwandhütte where there's some technical scrambling sections.

Walk 15km along Lake Hallstatt's eastern shore from St. Agatha to Obertraun, then climb to the Dachstein glacier with 128 meters of elevation gain over 3 hours. Tour the Dachstein Giant Ice Cave with a guide, check out the 5fingers and World Heritage Spiral viewing platforms.

Walk below the UNESCO-listed Hohe Dachstein, the Northern Limestone Alps' highest peak at 2,995 meters, on a self-guided hike through alpine pastures above Filzmoos. You'll follow the Dachstein circular trail from Ramsau and head up through landscapes below Rötelstein.

Walk through the Schladminger Tauern range where you'll find over 300 alpine lakes and plenty of waterfalls, including a loop around Hauser Kaibling summit and the 3-lake tour in the Valley of Cascading Waters. Head up to Dachstein Glacier at 2,700 meters to check out the Ice Palace.

Walk the challenging Salzburger Almenweg through Rinderfeld's boulder-strewn pastures and climb 800 meters to reach the Tor Gate at the Salzburg-Styrian border beneath Torstein's vertical cliffs. Overnight at Dachstein Südwandhütte below the Hoher Dachstein's south face.
