Tanzania Tours for Solo Travelers
The Marangu Route up Kilimanjaro works really well for solo travelers - you'll sleep in mountain huts instead of tents, which makes connecting with other climbers natural and easy. Our customers often tell us how sharing meals and reaching summits together leads to genuine friendships. The 7-day Machame route gives your body proper time to adapt, with guides checking on you daily to ensure you're doing well with the altitude. For wildlife viewing, our 5-day safaris through Lake Manyara, Serengeti and also Ngorongoro put you in small groups in specialized 4x4s. Solo guests consistently mention how the guides create an inclusive atmosphere while sharing detailed insights about animal behavior and local culture.

What people love about touring Tanzania solo
- Climb Kilimanjaro – Machame 6 Days | Expert Guides & Eco-Certified
Exceeded all expectations!!! My friend and I booked without much prior research into the different routes of Kilimanjaro or what it entailed. We landed on our feet with World Adventure Tours (associated with Zara tours, both female owned companies). We did the 6-day Machame route, which was beautiful, and each day was a new captivating landscape. Our guides Living and TomTom were professional, inspiring, great company and FUN!! We grooved our way up that mountain (Living's afro-piano playlist is off the charts good!). It was clear they were well-respected with other guides/teams on the mountain and in Moshi. Our entire team of guides, porters, chef and waiter were OUTSTANDING (shout out to Joseph, who was a delight to see at the beginning and end of every hike) and we couldn't have asked for better company. Meeting other hikers along the route and hearing their experiences, we realised just how lucky we had been even from initially booking through to the end of the tour. Our tour contact Joyce was exceptionally clear and kept us well-informed throughout, making sure we were always on the same page about the plans. The hotel Springlands at the beginning and end of the tour blew us away, all the staff (shout out to Nur) and even the transfers in between all were well beyond what we had anticipated. Springlands celebrated my birthday with a delicious cake and all the staff came and sang which was a special gesture I will always remember ❤️ By pure chance, we ended up booking this tour and it feels like we were blessed ? Don’t pass up this chance—you won’t regret it! SIX STARS!!! (PS - We met a couple who did safari with World Adventure Tours who also sang their praises).
- 5- Days Tanzania Safari Experience
The safari was an amazing experience. We were astonished by the wealth and diversity of wildlife, especially in the Ngorongoro and Serengeti. Our guide Meshak was quick to identify the animals and was well-informed about their behaviors. Yusuph managed all the planning for the safari and was always available to answer our questions and address any issues that arose. We stayed in wonderfully comfortable lodges and camps and relished every moment. Overall, it was a delightful and memorable adventure that we won't forget anytime soon.
- 6-Days Private Luxury Safari: Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater
A Seamless and Personalized Safari Adventure! African Polecat Safaris exceeded all our expectations. Our private luxury safari was perfectly tailored to our interests. Our guide, Benedict was fantastic, and his ability to spot wildlife was incredible. We loved the personalized touch, from private picnics in stunning locations to exclusive wildlife viewings. The luxury tented camp in the Serengeti was particularly memorable. The entire trip was seamless and stress-free. We couldn't have asked for a better safari. - Richard & Emily T., UK
What our customers ask about Tanzania Tours for Solo Travelers
What's the typical group size for Tanzania tours suitable for solo travelers?
Tanzania tours keep groups small and manageable usually between 6 to 12 people. The Northern Circuit safari tours maintain a strict limit of 6 travelers per vehicle which gives everyone a clear view of wildlife. For those interested in climbing Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho Route groups usually include 8 to 10 climbers plus guides and porters. This size makes it easy to get to know your fellow travelers.
How experienced are the guides with solo travelers?
Tour guides in Tanzania come with extensive training in managing group dynamics and working with solo travelers. They're fluent in several languages including English German French and Spanish. A TourRadar traveler shared: "Our guide Maxwell turned our safari into an exciting odyssey through Tarangire Serengeti parks and Ngorongoro Crater. He was knowledgeable about all the animals and helped us communicate with the Maasai people."
What are the typical costs of single supplements on Tanzania safari tours?
Single room charges in Tanzania cost between 200 to 400 USD varying by accommodation quality. Some places like Serena Safari Lodge and Kibo Palace Hotel have rooms designed for solo guests. Several operators including Almighty Kilimanjaro don't charge extra for single tents. As one traveler noted on TourRadar: "I had my own spacious tent throughout the trek with no additional charges."
How are meal arrangements handled for solo travelers?
Group dining is standard practice in Tanzania creating natural opportunities to meet other travelers. At Millennium Camp on Kilimanjaro everyone eats together in a shared tent while places like Lake Burunge Tented Lodge set up group dining experiences. The kitchens adapt well to different dietary needs. One TourRadar review noted "the cook prepared excellent vegetarian options throughout the trek."
Which areas of Tanzania are most welcoming for solo travelers?
Tanzania's Northern Circuit especially around Arusha and Moshi offers a welcoming environment for solo travelers. Places like Serengeti Wild Camps and Highview Hotel in Karatu feature social spaces where travelers naturally gather. A TourRadar guest noted: "The staff at the camps/lodges was exceptional. They treated us like royalty attending to our every need." The village of Mto wa Mbu gives visitors chances to connect with locals through activities like banana beer tasting and cooking classes.
What kind of accommodations can solo travelers expect on Tanzania tours?
The best times to visit are June through October and December through March. During these months the weather suits outdoor activities and wildlife viewing is at its peak in places like the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. These busy seasons bring more travelers making social connections easier. A TourRadar visitor who went in July shared: "The weather was perfect while we were there and we saw all the Big 5 plus incredible migration scenes."
