Christopher was a brilliant guide. As was Josh on the glacier. Fast paced and fun. You must be fit and ready to tackle the environment.
Overall, I had an amazing trip with this tour company! I went with three of my friends, and despite a few bumps along the way, it was still such a memorable experience. We originally booked a 4 day tour but the first day didn’t match the itinerary we were given. I completely understand that tours sometimes need to be flexible and adapt to circumstances, but we noticed that we were actually following the itinerary of the 2day tour group rather than the 4day tour we had booked. That was disappointing especially since I didn’t get to visit the hot springs, which was one of the main things I was looking forward to. I’m still a bit confused about why that part was missed. Additionally, the weather on the first day was absolutely beautiful sunny and warm so I don’t feel that weather was a factor in the itinerary changes. On the second day, we did run into weather issues and some of our plans had to be canceled, but to their credit, the company provided a refund for that day, which I really appreciated. We also had two different tour guides. The first didn’t seem to follow the itinerary closely and was often on his phone while driving, which wasn’t ideal. However, our second guide was absolutely amazing and really made the experience so much better. Even with those issues, we still got to see so many incredible places. This was a top destination on my bucket list, so I truly can’t complain too much. I had a great time overall and made amazing memories with my friends. I also want to highlight how responsive the company was they were quick to answer questions during booking and handled the refund situation promptly. Overall, I do recommend this company. While there were a few hiccups and some disappointment with the first day and second, they made an effort to make things right, and the trip itself was still unforgettable.

I’m a couple of months late on this review, but I just couldn’t let my Iceland trip with GAdventures slip by without sharing my experience! I went with my then-boyfriend during Valentine’s week, and it was truly an unforgettable adventure. First of all, Lili – our guide – was an absolute gem. She was so sweet, thoughtful, and had the cutest French accent. What amazed me the most was how she managed to juggle so many roles throughout the trip. She wasn’t just a tour guide; she was our driver, our certified emergency medic, our history buff, and even our personal chef, whipping up simple meals for us. From the very start, Lili set the tone for the trip, sharing her inspiring story of how she ended up moving to Iceland permanently. By the end of the trip, it was easy to see why she fell in love with this magical place. Speaking of Iceland, wow, what a stunning country. It’s so different from the US in the best ways – no military, no guns, and just this peaceful vibe that’s hard to explain (even in the cities!). The landscapes are straight out of a dream, with breathtaking glaciers, hydrothermal geysers, and the clearest water that you can even drink straight from your bathroom tap. We also finally got to see the Northern Lights, which was everything, and the Blue Lagoon was the cherry on top. One of the most inspiring parts of the trip was seeing how deeply Icelanders care about sustainability and protecting their environment. It’s such a refreshing change from what we’re used to, and it really made me reflect on how we could do more to preserve our planet. If only we could take a page from their book! Now, about the Northern Lights… While the trip was amazing overall, I do wish there had been more focus on actually finding the Lights. The tour was titled "Iceland Northern Lights & Golden Circle," so I thought we'd be chasing them every chance we got. But unfortunately, there wasn’t much emphasis on it. Lili was incredible in getting us to all the other destinations, but with the Northern Lights being such a highlight of the trip, I expected a bit more effort to make sure we caught them. In the end, we ended up booking a separate tour to hunt for them, and some of the other members of our group got lucky with clear skies and shared their beautiful pictures with us. My boyfriend, determined to see them up close, even rented a car for a late-night adventure on our last night to find the Lights. He did, and it was definitely worth it! All in all, this trip was amazing, and I’d highly recommend GAdventures. I’ll absolutely consider booking with them again, but I’d make sure to double-check that the trip’s focus aligns with the experience I’m looking for. Definitely a trip of a lifetime!

Places like Hotel Stracta in Hella, Iceland are perfect because they're far from bright city lights. In Whitehorse, you can watch from the AuroraCentre, built just for Northern Lights viewing. One of our travelers shared, "We got lucky and saw an aurora on the way to the viewing location and they pulled the buses over so we could get out and look."

Plan your trip between September and March, with the sweet spot falling between November and February.
