Reviews of 2 week Bicycle Tours
- Cycle Angkor to Cambodia Beaches
It was fantastic bike tour experience that provided 5 star service throughout. The beach scenery was breathtaking, Angkor temple was magical and the guide was knowledgeable, attentive, and always willing to accommodate any request. Everything from the route planning to the meals to the lodging was top-notch, making it a truly memorable journey that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
- Cycling Vietnam’s Backroads 13 Days
My Feedback on the Bravo Indochina 12 day Back-roads cycle tour. All up my partner and me had a good fun trip experiencing the highlights of Vietnam from Hanoi, Halong Bay all the way down to Ho Chi Minh City while doing the Bravo Indochina Back-roads 12 day cycle tour. The trip went well and largely the weather Gods played their part :-). Unfortunately the timing of the cycle tour saw only my partner and me on the cycle tour - while in same ways this did have its advantages it would also have been good to have a few more people to experience the trip with. Things were generally well arranged/coordinated by Bravo Indochina. I would have given them a 10/10 but on reflection drop this to 8/10 after some changes to accommodation were made without initially discussing this with us and having to chase up on two shuttle transfers from the airport to our hotel and a mix up with the transfer from Mui Ne to our hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. The bicycles were great and were generally mechanically sound and reliable - being a keen cyclist I was more than happy with the bikes arranged by Bravo Indochina albeit it always pays to check everything is tight etc - there were a couple of minor issues which I was able to quickly remedy myself. Also, while I was OK setting up my own bike I wonder whether this is an area Bravo Indochina should consider paying a little more attention too for those who may not be that confident? We felt spending two nights in Mui Ne was probably a little waste of time, While Mui Ne's Coastline is pretty the town does not really have much to offer and I wonder weather dropping a night in Mui Ne in favour of a night in Ho Chi Minh may give travelers a better feel for Vietnams two main centres before going home? The stay in Quang Ngai was also a bit of a waste of time - bit of a weird town TBH with poor hotel selection generally to choose from which made our stay there difficult albeit it was only one night. Hoi An was a highlight and I wonder with there being so much to see in and around Hoi An whether another day/night would have been worthwhile considering - even if this involved another days cycling to another local area above the My Son visit, which was great! Again a further option in sacrifice to the two nights in Mui Ne........ Halong Bay was a super experience and the Tour Guide and boat crew made a great effort to ensure all on board had a good time!! Even though a few things were lost in translation occasionally, the cycling Tour Guide who we met up with in Hue was great as was the support vehicle Driver who we had supporting us on the journey through to Mui Ne - top marks to both!! From a safety perspective, and while I had my own, I would recommend Bravo Indochina provide bikes at least fitted with a rear flashing red light. I always use one when cycling and believe they are cheap insurance when both out on the open road or in traffic in the city! Would I recommend Bravo Indochina? Yes I would, albeit some communication around planning and schedule changes along with shuttle pick up/transfers needs to be improved - I raised this with Bravo Indochina and I did note an improvement over the last few days. From a safety perspective, and while I had my own, I would recommend Bravo Indochina provide bikes at least fitted with a rear flashing red light. I always use one when cycling and believe they are cheap insurance when both out on the open road or in traffic in the city!

I did this as a self-guided tour in May of 2025. First let me say this deserves the 5 star rating. The communication from the operator is immediate and accurate. It was easy to enjoy the ride, the scenery, the villages, the "must-see" stops, etc. without worrying about the next step. The accommodations were well-thought-out ..... each different to enhance the experience. Personally, I would have preferred longer rides each day but I knew this going into the tour as the details on the web site are completely accurate.
What our customers ask about 2 Week Cycling Tours & Bike Trips
What are the most popular destinations for 2 week bike tours?
You'll find fantastic routes through Costa Rica from coast to coast, where you'll pedal past volcanoes and through rainforests. In Southeast Asia, bike tours connect Vietnam and Cambodia, taking you through the Mekong Delta and to the temples of Angkor. Japan offers beautiful rides from Kyoto to Tokyo, while South Africa lets you explore the Cape Winelands. One TourRadar traveler shared about Costa Rica: "The cycling routes are amazing and have been really well planned so one gets a great mix of uphill, downhill, flat road and the Costa Rica scenery is just breathtaking." You can cycle along Chapman's Peak in South Africa, ride through small Mekong Delta villages, and discover Kyoto's temples at your own pace.
When should I plan my 2 week bike tour?
Each destination has its sweet spot for cycling. Costa Rica is best from December to April when it's drier and temperatures stay between 75-85°F (24-29°C). In South Africa, plan your trip between September and November - you'll get mild temperatures of 60-75°F (15-24°C) and might spot whales along the coast. For Vietnam and Cambodia, book between November and February to avoid rain and enjoy temperatures around 75-85°F (24-29°C). As one TourRadar traveler mentioned about South Africa: "The September to October departures give the best opportunity to see whales swimming off the coast."
What makes these 2 week bike tours special?
These trips mix cycling with real cultural connections. In Japan, you'll sleep in traditional ryokans and relax in local hot springs. Vietnam and Cambodia tours let you stay with families in the Mekong Delta and watch the sun rise over Angkor Wat. One TourRadar traveler said: "Cycling through remote villages, enjoying local meals in homes, and discovering hidden temples made the experience truly special." In Costa Rica, you might spot toucans while cycling past volcanoes, and in South Africa, you can stop for wine tastings between coastal rides.
How far will I cycle each day on a 2 week tour?
Most days you'll ride between 30-80 kilometers (19-50 miles), usually around 50 kilometers (31 miles). On the Vietnam South to North tour, you'll typically cover 45-50km daily, with some longer 80km rides over mountain passes. Baltic tours keep it easier at 40-45km per day on flat ground. You'll get a rest day every 3-4 days. A TourRadar reviewer noted: "The distances were very manageable - we did about 50km most days with plenty of breaks, and there was always the support vehicle if needed."
Where will I stay during my bike tour?
You'll stay in a mix of places, from regular hotels to local guesthouses. Most tours use 3-4 star hotels like the Saigon Phong Nha Hotel in Vietnam, or traditional places like Japanese ryokans with tatami floors. A TourRadar traveler said about Japan: "The ryokan stays were a highlight, offering an authentic experience with futons on tatami floors and shared onsen baths." Every place offers a comfortable bed and private bathroom, and many have pools where you can relax after riding.
What's included for food and drinks during cycling days?
Tours typically cover breakfast and some other meals. During rides, you'll get water, fruit and snacks. A TourRadar traveler explained the Vietnam/Cambodia experience: "Our guide ensured regular stops every 10-15 km with water, electrolyte drinks, dried and fresh fruit, and local snacks." Costa Rica mornings start with tropical fruits and local dishes, and dinners often feature fresh seafood. If you're vegetarian or have other dietary needs, just let them know before the trip.
