10 Day Poland Itinerary, incl. Krakow and Warsaw
Polish heritage unfolds over ten days through 13 cities from Kraków to Warsaw. Upscale hotels complement visits to UNESCO sites including Toruń's medieval center and Malbork Castle. Local culture shines through traditional meals and Goral folklore in Zakopane.

- Days 1-2
Krakow & Surrounds
Begin your journey at Rynek Główny, the largest medieval town square in Europe. "Krakow was by far my favorite city - there was ample time to explore both with the group and independently." Visit Wawel Castle first thing in the morning before 8:30 AM to beat the crowds. The Wieliczka Salt Mine is worth seeing - book an afternoon tour to avoid the morning rush of tourists.

- Days 3-4
Zakopane & Auschwitz
- Days 5-6
Poznań & Toruń
Visit Cathedral Island in Poznań, known as the birthplace of Poland. A recent visitor suggests: "Skip the touristy croissant demonstration and use that time to explore the charming Old Town independently." Make sure to try the traditional gingerbread in Toruń. The morning tasting sessions are best when the bakeries are busy making fresh batches.

- Days 7-8
Gdańsk & Malbork
"Gdańsk was a highlight - the illuminated historic district at night is magical," according to one visitor. Start your day at the Gdańsk Shipyards and Westerplatte memorial. You might want to take an afternoon trip to Sopot's seaside resort. Visit Malbork Castle right when it opens at 9 AM to see the world's largest brick castle before the tour groups arrive.

- Days 9-10
Warsaw
10 Days in Poland, incl. Warsaw and Krakow
This 10-day trip covers 4 Polish cities—Warsaw, Gdansk, Wroclaw, and Krakow—traveling by train through the countryside. Warsaw's UNESCO-listed Old Town offers walking routes past the Rising Museum, while the Royal Route leads through Lazienki Park's Chopin Monument to the Warsaw Ghetto memorial. Gdansk provides access to the seaside promenade in Sopot with a 48-hour public transport card, then Wroclaw's canals reveal why locals call it the "Venice of Poland" before an obwarzanki cooking class happens in Krakow's medieval streets.

- Days 1-3
Warsaw
Begin in Poland's capital city. The Old Town is best explored early at 8:30 AM when the streets are quiet and perfect for photos. Visit the Rising Museum before lunch to avoid crowds. Save your Old Town market walks for the afternoon. Wear sturdy shoes on the Royal Route since the historic cobblestones can be slick after rain.

- Days 4-5
Gdansk
Take the 3.15-hour train ride north. Book seats on the right side to see the best countryside views. The Main Town gets busy so visit St. Mary's Church right at opening time, 8:30 AM. For Sopot, take the SKM train instead of driving. It runs every 15 minutes and takes 20 minutes. Pack an extra layer for the wooden pier since it's often windy, even on sunny days.

- Days 6-7
Wroclaw
This "Venice of Poland" needs two full days to explore. Look for the city's famous dwarf statues scattered around town - there are over 300 to find. Get your best Market Square photos from St. Elizabeth's Church observation deck in late afternoon light. Want to visit the historic Piwnica Świdnicka beer cellar? Go early or make a reservation to avoid long waits.

- Days 8-10
Krakow
9 Day Poland Itinerary, incl. Warsaw and Krakow
Polish cities unveil their secrets over 9 days for around $1,800. Wawel Cathedral in Kraków, medieval Torun, and Gdansk's port history captivate visitors. The Regent Warsaw Hotel serves as a base while discovering UNESCO sites with expert local guides. 5 traditional dinners and luxury coach transportation with Wi-Fi included.

- Days 1-2
Warsaw
Begin your journey in Poland's capital, where modern architecture stands next to the beautifully rebuilt Old Town. "The Old Town's reconstruction is incredible - even the bricks were salvaged from the rubble after WWII," noted one traveler. Visit Castle Square early before 9 AM to avoid crowds. Plan to leave for the 4-hour drive to Gdansk before 2 PM to skip rush hour traffic.

- Days 2-3
Gdansk
Take two days to explore this historic port city. Start at the Main Town Hall when it opens at 10 AM to avoid cruise ship tourists. A visitor shared: "Walking along the waterfront at sunset with the medieval crane looming overhead was magical. Have dinner at one of the amber-decorated restaurants on Długi Targ street." You can visit Malbork Castle but plan for at least 3 hours there.

- Day 4
Torun & Poznan
Visit medieval Torun in the morning to see Copernicus' birthplace. Stop by the gingerbread shops when they open at 9 AM. Drive to historic Poznan after (2.5 hours). "The mechanical goats appearing at noon on the Town Hall clock draw huge crowds - get there by 11:45 AM for a good view," a recent traveler suggested.

- Days 5-7
Krakow
Spend three nights in Krakow. Visit Market Square before 8 AM when it's peaceful and quiet. One traveler noted: "Take the early morning walking tour that includes Wawel Cathedral - the guides are incredibly knowledgeable about Polish history." Take a day trip to Zakopane in the Tatra Mountains (2 hours each way) but wear good shoes for the slippery mountain paths.

- Day 8
Auschwitz & Return to Warsaw
- Day 9
Warsaw Departure
What people love about 10-day Poland tours
- Highlights of Poland (Classic)
What a fantastic trip. The food, the people, the excursions and the cities/towns were great. Our tour guide Craig was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The optional excursions added to our experience as did the local guides. The hotel were top notch and our transportation was very comfortable. If you want to avoid the jordes of tourists in other European countries, visit Poland with Insight Vacations. Worth every penny.
- Portrait of Poland
The itinerary was good. It would have been even better if we had visited the Baltic Sea Pier in Gdansk!
- Highlights of Poland (Small Groups)
We have made many trips with Smithsonian and Odysseys and were apprehensive about taking a tour with a company which was unfamiliar to us, particularly to an unfamiliar we have never visited. We did the research and were impressed by the favorable reviews of Insight Vacations and decided to take a chance. We were impressed! The policy is that the tours are limited to 20 persons. The full-sized Mercedes built bus had eight rows removed, so leg room was more than adequate. The tour leader, Alex, was absolutely amazing. An Australian with Polish roots,, Alex displayed, both, knowledge and passion for the beauty and complicated and tragic history of Poland. The tour caught my eye, because it covered the highlights I was interested in seeing. While nine days hardly does justice to the amazing history of Poland, we feel that we received a great introduction and an exceptional cultural and learning introduction. All of the hotels were exceptional and while Alex handled ever detail with alacrity, he deferred to excellent local guides at each tour stop. All else would not matter if one did not feel safe during the travel itself and the driving of "both" Rolfs was exceptional. I have visited well over 100 countries, including almost all of the countries of Europe and found Poland to be beautiful and culturally and geographically compelling. There are too many places on my wish list to seriously consider returning, but, both my wife and I would welcome a return to Poland and another adventure with Insight. This is an adventure you would long remember.
