  • Day 1

    Copenhagen, Denmark

    Land in Copenhagen and head to your hotel. Skip the taxi and take the Metro from the airport. It runs every 4-6 minutes and costs less. The city center is easy to walk around, so spend your first evening exploring the medieval streets near Strøget, the main shopping area.

    
  • Day 2

    Copenhagen to Aarhus

    Get to Nyhavn before 9 AM if you want photos without crowds. A local guide will show you around Copenhagen's main sights including Amalienborg Palace. Take the afternoon ferry from Odden to Aarhus (75 minutes). Bring motion sickness pills if you need them. The water can get rough.

    
  • Days 3-4

    Aarhus to Stavanger

    Start your morning in Aarhus, exploring Denmark's second-largest city. Make sure to visit ARoS art museum and its rainbow panorama. Take the overnight cruise to Norway and get a sea-view cabin if you can. When you reach Stavanger, check out the old town. If you're up for it, hike Pulpit Rock. It takes 4-5 hours round trip and you'll need good hiking boots.

    
  • Day 5

    Bergen

    Take the coastal ferry to Bergen (5-6 hours). In the afternoon, visit the UNESCO site Bryggen wharf and the fish market. Take the Fløibanen funicular up for city views before sunset. Keep in mind Bergen gets a lot of rain, so bring a good jacket and have backup plans.

    
  • Day 6

    Flåm Railway

    The Flåm Railway is a must-do experience. The track climbs 866 meters over 20 km through stunning landscapes. Get an early start to avoid crowds. Bring a good camera for waterfall shots. Take the afternoon Sognefjord cruise and sit on the port side for the best views.

    
  • Days 7-8

    Oslo

    Drive to Oslo through fjord country, stopping at Borgund Stave Church. Visit Frogner Park early to see the Vigeland sculptures in morning light. Check out the Opera House's walkable roof for harbor views. Wear shoes with good grip if it's wet.

    Stockholm

    Head to Stockholm, spread across 14 islands. Walk through Gamla Stan's cobblestone streets early or late to avoid tourist crowds. On your last day, take the Royal Canal tour to see the city from the water.

  • Days 1-2

    Copenhagen

    Start exploring Denmark's capital where bikes rule the streets. "The rush hour of designer-clad cyclists is something you won't see anywhere else!" Visit Christiansborg Palace before 10 AM to beat the crowds. Check out the Little Mermaid statue and Tivoli Gardens (open mid-April to mid-September). The gardens are most beautiful in the evening when all the lights are on.

    
  • Day 3

    Copenhagen to Oslo

    Take a scenic trip via Elsinore and cross to Sweden by ferry. You'll get great views of Hamlet's castle on the way. Stop at Gothenburg's indoor food market for local specialties and traditional Swedish meatballs. From there it's about 4 hours to Oslo.

    
  • Days 4-5

    Oslo

    Visit Frogner Park in the morning light to see Vigeland's sculptures at their best. The Oslo City Hall is worth your time. "The Nobel Peace Prize ceremony venue was impressive, but go before 11 AM to avoid cruise ship crowds." The Viking Ship Museum is best in late afternoon when the tour groups leave.

    
  • Days 6-7

    Stockholm

    Drive through Swedish countryside to Stockholm (6-7 hours). Wear good walking shoes for the Old Town's uneven cobblestones. The Vasa Ship Museum is a must-see. "The preserved 17th-century warship is mind-blowing - get there at opening time to avoid the crowds."

    
  • Days 8-10

    Helsinki

    Take an overnight ferry from Stockholm. Book an upper deck cabin to avoid engine noise and get better views. Start your Helsinki mornings at the harbor's open-air market. Visit the Lutheran Cathedral and Sibelius Monument. A previous visitor advised: "Take the ferry to Suomenlinna fortress island - but check the weather forecast as it can get windy."
