For currency exchange, stick to the airport bank counters instead of street vendors. The rates are regulated and much safer.       Aburi & Local Culture

      Visit the historic Tetteh Quarshie Cocoa Farm to learn about Ghana's cocoa industry. You'll see working farms and the complete process from planting to fermentation.       Aburi and Volta Region

      Start your day at 7 AM to avoid Accra traffic on your way to Aburi Botanical Gardens. Visit early before the heat sets in. After a 2-hour drive you'll reach Krobo to see traditional bead-making. Finish at Kejetia Market where you'll need at least 2 hours to explore West Africa's largest market.

      Kumasi to Cape Coast

Book a room at Lemon Beach Resort preferably one facing the ocean for cool breezes.

      Kakum National Park

      Get to Kakum by 8 AM to avoid crowds and heat for the canopy walk. You'll need decent fitness levels for the walk. The structure is solid but moves a bit and includes steep steps. Wear shoes with good traction since morning dew makes the walkways slippery. Early morning is best for spotting hornbills and colobus monkeys.

      Final Day & Departure

      Visit Abandze village Louis Armstrong's ancestral home before heading back. Plan for at least 3 hours on the return drive to Accra due to traffic. If you have an evening flight stop for lunch at one of Labadi Beach's seafood restaurants before heading to the airport.
