Paris's Champs-Élysées kicks off 12 days of French-Spanish splendor. Loire Valley's Château de Chenonceau, traditional dinner at Montferrier farm, Lyon's traboules, and Barcelona's La Sagrada Família showcase cultural richness.
- Days 1-2
Paris
Start in the City of Light with an evening drive to see the lit-up Champs-Élysées and Arc de Triomphe. Your second day is perfect for a morning walking tour through local neighborhoods. A recent visitor shared: "The early morning walks through Parisian neighborhoods showed us a side of the city most tourists miss." Book your Eiffel Tower tickets online at least 2 months ahead if you want the quieter sunset time slots.

Loire Valley
Take a 2-hour drive to see the Gothic cathedral in Chartres before heading to the Loire Valley. Visit Château de Chambord for its unique double-helix staircase. For better photos with smaller crowds, go to Chenonceau in late afternoon. End your day with a traditional Tourangelle dinner at a local farm but bring a light jacket for the cool countryside evening.

Lyon
Travel 4 hours to Lyon, France's food capital. Take the funicular up Fourvière hill for city views and explore the traboules (hidden passageways) in Vieux Lyon. Book your dinner spots early since the best bouchons fill up fast.

Stay in Nice for the best access to nearby spots. Take a 25-minute train to see Monaco's cathedral and harbor filled with yachts. Visit Saint-Paul-de-Vence's medieval village in the afternoon. Get the early 7:30 AM train to Monaco if you want to see the 11:55 AM Guard Change without big crowds.

Arles and Carcassonne
Drive through Provence to Arles to see where Van Gogh painted. The Roman amphitheater is worth visiting but wear good shoes for the steep steps. Next up is Carcassonne's medieval citadel. Barcelona
Stop at the Dalí Museum in Figueres on your way into Spain. In Barcelona, visit Sagrada Familia early in the morning to avoid long waits. Spend your second day in the Gothic Quarter or take a trip to Montserrat monastery. Try the tapas in El Born after 8:30 PM when locals eat dinner.

Madrid
Take a 2.5-hour train to Madrid. Visit the three main museums - the Prado, Reina Sofia, and Thyssen. The Prado is less busy during lunch (2-4 PM). Finish your trip with dinner in La Latina's traditional taverns.
