3 Day the Balkans Itinerary, incl. Kotor and Ohrid
A whirlwind tour through 8 cities starts in Tirana's center. The route leads to Kotor's Venetian old town, Prizren's traditional bazaar, and UNESCO-listed Ohrid's ancient churches. Accommodations include Hotel Rose Garden in Shkoder and Hotel Premium in Skopje across 4 countries.

- Day 1
Tirana to Montenegro to Shkoder
Leave Tirana at 7:30 AM for a full day in Montenegro. You'll drive through Albania's industrial areas before crossing into Montenegro. Visit Kotor, a UNESCO site set in a beautiful bay, and enter the medieval old town through the historic Sea Gate. In the afternoon, explore Budva's 2,600-year-old town center and Roman ruins. Pack comfortable shoes for Kotor's cobblestone streets and bring a light jacket since the bay gets windy. You'll spend the night in Shkoder, Albania's northern hub.

- Day 2
Kosovo and North Macedonia
Start early from Shkoder to reach Prizren, Kosovo's cultural center. Visit the important League of Prizren House and walk through the traditional bazaar near Sinan Pasha Mosque. After lunch, head to Pristina to see its unique National Library and historic areas. You'll end your day in Skopje, North Macedonia, where you'll stay overnight. Remember to keep your passport accessible for multiple border crossings.

- Day 3
Skopje and Ohrid to Tirana
Start in Skopje, nicknamed the "Memorial City of Statues." Explore both banks of the Vardar River, visit Mother Teresa's House and the city fortress. Next, travel to Lake Ohrid, a UNESCO site known as the "Jerusalem of the Balkans" for once having 365 churches. One visitor noted: "It was an excellent escape from the mundane of everyday." See the 11th-century churches, Samuil Fortress, and stop at Kaneo Bay. The return drive to Tirana takes about 3 hours.

3 Day the Balkans Itinerary, incl. Berat and Ohrid
This extensive route connects three countries in three days, showcasing six major cities including UNESCO sites Berat and Ohrid. Starting from Tirana, the tour winds through Macedonia's Matka Canyon to Kosovo's cultural heart Prizren, with professional guides and 3-star accommodation.

- Day 1
Tirana to Berat (Albania) to Ohrid (North Macedonia)
Leave Tirana early for the 2-hour drive to Berat. You'll need good walking shoes for this UNESCO-listed "town of 1001 windows" with its steep stone streets. Visit in the morning light to capture the best photos of medieval houses on the hillside. A recent visitor said: "We were impressed by Berat's unique architecture and learned so much about Albanian culture and history." The drive to Ohrid is about 3 hours, including border crossing time. Keep your passport ready and expect possible delays at the Albania-Macedonia border on summer weekends. Once in Ohrid, go to the Church of St. John at Kaneo to watch the sunset over the lake. Plan to visit some of the 365 Orthodox churches early next morning before the crowds arrive.

- Day 2
Ohrid to Matka Canyon to Skopje to Prizren
Start at 8 AM for Matka Canyon. It's a 3-hour drive but worth it for the morning boat trips before the tour groups show up. The hiking trails have limited shade so bring water and sun protection. Next, it's a quick 30-minute drive to Skopje. The Old Bazaar is perfect for lunch, and you can walk across the Stone Bridge to see the huge Alexander the Great statue and explore the Art Bridge. The trip to Prizren, Kosovo takes about 2 hours. Border crossings are usually easier than Albania-Macedonia but keep your documents ready. Try to reach Prizren Fortress for sunset. The walk up takes about 25 minutes but the views are worth it.

- Day 3
Prizren to Tirana
Get an early start in Prizren's UNESCO-listed old town. Visit the Sinan Pasha Mosque and watch local artisans work with filigree. One traveler noted: "Prizren was a revelation with its medieval architecture and the incredible skill of local artisans. Make time to watch the filigree craftsmen at work." The drive back to Tirana takes about 4 hours. Plan to arrive in the afternoon to avoid morning traffic jams. Look for busy roadside restaurants to try traditional Albanian byrek if you have time.

Visit the Balkans in 3 Days
An immersive route through 8 cities across Albania, North Macedonia, and Kosovo awaits. UNESCO sites like Ohrid's Old Town, Matka Canyon boat rides, and Ottoman architecture in Prizren highlight the journey. Features guided tours of two capital cities and two UNESCO World Heritage locations.

What people love about 3-day Europe tours
- Tour of Kosovo, Montenegro & North Macedonia in 3 Days from Albania
I had a great time. On this type of trips, everything stands or falls with the guide. I can only speak highly of Xhulio, who did not only perform an excellent job, but his erudition about the Balkan history, it’s political, socio-economical, cultural situation and all sort of issues was simply overwhelming. The result was that we did chat and laugh and shared opinions, points of view and emotions the whole trip, thus killing time on long distances in a very enjoyable way. Grazie mille! Wim

After an amazing tour in North of Albania we booked also this tour with Choose Balkans. Me and my husband are very interested about history and culture except of hiking. And we really enjoyed Berat and Ohrid as part of Unesco Heritage and learned a lot. Thanks to our tour guide as well :)

Anest always made sure we had what we needed and was very quick to manage any concerns that came up. He kept an eye on everyone without ever making things feel too much, especially with everything we were already taking in. Thanks Anest for a great vacation!
