21 Days in Antarctica, incl. South Georgia and Falkland Islands
A 21-day Southern Ocean expedition from Ushuaia visits Antarctic Peninsula's wildlife havens, South Georgia's king penguin colonies, and Falkland Islands' diverse ecosystems. Features daily Zodiac landings, visits to Shackleton's grave, and Stanley's cultural sites.
- Days 1-2
Ushuaia, Argentina
Your journey begins in the world's southernmost city. Take your first day to adjust and organize your cold-weather gear. You can find thermal layers here at better prices than on the ship. On Day 2 you'll board the expedition ship. Plan to arrive at the port by 3 PM for a smooth embarkation.
- Days 3-4
Drake Passage
Get ready for the Drake crossing. Start taking motion sickness medication before you feel ill. A fellow traveler shares: "The Drake was rough, but the ship's stabilizers helped tremendously. Stick to the middle of the ship where there's less movement."
- Days 5-9
Antarctic Peninsula
Most people spot their first penguins and icebergs early on Day 5. The ship makes 2-3 landings daily when weather allows. Wake up early for the best wildlife viewing. Your camera batteries will drain faster in the cold, so pack extras and protect your gear during Zodiac rides.
- Days 10-11
Scotia Sea
The journey to South Georgia takes two days. This is a good time to review photos and learn from the onboard experts. The seas are usually calmer than the Drake. Keep watching for whales, they're often spotted in these waters.
- Days 12-15
South Georgia
You'll spend four days exploring where Shackleton found his final rest. The king penguin colonies are incredible, with numbers reaching hundreds of thousands. The ground can be tricky, so bring hiking poles. You'll need waterproof pants for getting in and out of the zodiacs.
- Days 16-17
Southern Ocean
During these sea days heading to the Falklands, the Deck 5 observation lounge gives you the best views. Load up your devices with entertainment before leaving home since ship internet is limited and costly.
- Days 18-19
Falkland Islands
Stanley welcomes you with its bright houses and five different penguin species. Walking here is easier than in South Georgia. Stop by Stanley's post office to send postcards with special Antarctic stamps.
- Days 20-21
Return to Ushuaia
The final leg takes you through the Beagle Channel. Pack up the night before you arrive since disembarkation starts early on Day 21. Schedule your flight after 11 AM to have enough time for customs.

We had a great trip, everything was well coordinated by Wanderful holidays. They were in contact everyday to ensure everything was fine. We had a minor hiccup with one hotel but Wanderful sorted this very quickly. Very quick to respond to any questions. The tour was a mix of private guides for just 2 people and some group tours but all worked out well. Special mention to our private guide Jim. At Iguaçu falls. Went above and beyond and definitely made our visit to the falls one of our highlights. All our accommodation and transfers were wonderful. Would use Wanderful holidays again.

Professionalism, expertise, personal care and interest; I found these and more from the first day that I emailed Say Hueque about a five week holiday in Argentina. Patricio devised and arranged a fantastic itinerary; and Augustina Julia followed up with exceptional assistance while in-country. I can only thank them both for giving us such a wonderful holiday. We did meet other people travelling with Say Hueque while in Argentina and they too sang the praises of this company. Julia and Patricio - we really did have a wonderful holiday, and do thank you both so much for everything. It was all great. The only thing (which is very minor) would be to let people know that for group excursions, that the noted pick-up time is the time that the bus starts it's round of pick-ups and may not reach your hotel until a little later. In the beginning we were getting worried that we were forgotten as the bus would not be there at the designated time. After a few times of this we realised that the bus just had other people to pick up first. It is a minor detail, but I think it would be helpful for clients to know this from the beginning. Favourite places - so many beautiful places in Argentina - but I think we both loved the penguin rookery in Haberton (photo attached - I love the way he seems to be looking at the fantastic scenery), and especially the hikes around El Chalten. We were so lucky with the weather which was glorious. Photo attached. Sorry that the photos are sidewise - hope you can put them the right side up!

Great tour, well organised with options to personalise the accommodation and activities. Bus trips were more comfortable than I had feared, although the 28 hours Rio to Iguassu was a little much even for me. Planned activities were good - particularly the cycling tour in Buenos Aires.
