This was a horrible trip. Truly horrible. The most frustrating thing is that the tour route was fantastic, the scenery along the route is supposed to be stunning. So why was the tour bad? Our guide, L…This was a horrible trip. Truly horrible. The most frustrating thing is that the tour route was fantastic, the scenery along the route is supposed to be stunning. So why was the tour bad? Our guide, Lee Duncan, was simply bad. He was doing a bare minimum. After lunch we could tell he was looking forward to end the day as soon as possible and head straight to the bar ( which he always did). But the worst thing was that along a gorgeous route, Lee always stopped in the most uninteresting places and gave us a lot of free time there. For example, he gave us 3 hours of free time in Mallaig while we were waiting for the ferry to go to the Isle of Skye. The problem is, there is nothing to do in Mallaig for 3 hours! Nothing at all, so we were sitting on the bus. And this is just one example of many many. A number of passengers were quite dissatisfied with the choice of places that we were given a lot of free time at and we mentioned it gently to Lee. Lee got very angry with this feedback. He also made zero effort to accommodate passengers whose English was not the first language (there were 5 out of 13). Again, it was gently mentioned to the other guide James as well as Lee and it was completely ignored. The 5 tourist who commanded good but not perfect English struggled and the guides did not care, they had to constantly ask fellow travellers what was going on. Lee is also quite aggressive, particularly with women. He yelled at one of the passenger women and she made a phone call from the road to Haggis head officer to speak to the manager. Can you imagine your tour guide yelling at you?? Unheard of.
Overall, Lee is unprofessional and is not passionate about his job. Avoid Lee as your tour guide at all costs, particularly if you are a woman or English is not your first language. He is an ok driver, though.
This is a pity, because the trip ended up wasting traveller’s precious time. Many people were quite upset. When they voiced it to Lee, he totally ignored them and tried to isolate them. I was observing all of this and it was terrifying.
Overall, I do think that this itinerary is great and it could be a great tour, however much depends on the guide. The hostel choices were fine and the bus was great.

The tour guides were friendly and the driving was done well so I always felt safe. The highlands were beautiful and the stops we made in the highlands were well worth it. The trip didn't follow the itinerary. When I asked the guides what to expect for the next day I was never given an answer, so it was hard to prepare for each day.
The worst thing about this trip was how many of the main attractions we skipped. We skipped every single castle, either arriving too early or to late to enter each castle, and were only given a 15 minute photo stop. At times we just drove by castles (Doune castle, Stirling castle) and were told to look in the distance to see them. Sometimes we'd take 45 minute coffee/toilet breaks in the middle of nowhere that nobody needed and then later skip a main attraction outlined on the itinerary.
There wasn't a single place we went to that had an admission fee, and we weren't even given time to explore paid attractions if we wanted to. For this reason I don't see the price of this trip being worth it.
Overall, the trip was decent but could be greatly improved in terms of planning. I would recommend a friend to go with a different company that will allow time to explore the major attractions Scotland has to offer.

There was plenty of opportunity to stick with the group or go and explore and do your own thing. Would 110% recommend and can’t wait to do another tour with Haggis.

There was no ceili which I was disappointed about and I feel like it should be taken off the itinerary if they’re not going to do it. The hostels were great except for the showers, which burned you and one only lasted 5 seconds which meant you had to hold it in. If I was going to do this again I would like better night activities. The tour guide Lee was great as he wasn’t very informative and provided good music, although could have done with a better range of music or played more traditional music.

With a stop at the distillery for a tour and a "wee" taste of whisky before a fantastic walk through the woods to a waterfall, it could not be a better day. The best part of the tour was the guide though, Lee was very entertaining, just ask him for a joke!

We loved this bus tour where we discovered the highlands of Scotland. Lee was extremely knowledgeable about local and historical facts. Thoroughly enjoyed the day. Highly recommend.

Haggis Adventures puts together a great itinerary hitting all the high points, but it's Lee that makes the tour!

But everything about the 3 Day Skye High tour was incredible. It never really felt like we were driving too long, there were always stops along the way where you got to see incredible views or pieces of history! The accommodation was clean, comfortable, and the food was incredible! Our guide was amazing. Always with a story or a history lesson along the way. You could really tell he has a lot of pride and passion for what he does.

There was even time to play in the snow as some of the Aussies on your never saw snow before.
It’s a really fun trip and mostly due to Lee Duncan. Lee’s got a good mix of history and humour that keeps everyone interested.
It was a great adventure. I’d do another one with him for sure!

My mind was completely changed once the tour started. Lee was extremely knowledgeable about Scotland's rich history and recited it's stories with humor and excitement. He took the time to talk to me during the bus rides about what Scotland is like from the eyes of a local and it was easily one of my favorite parts of my trip. I would easily take another Haggis adventures tour and would hope to have Lee as a guide again. He turned this tour skeptic into someone who highly recommends Haggis Adventures to anyone looking to travel to Scotland.

I'm sure I saw and learned more than I would have if I went on my own. My only negative was the accommodation we stayed at on the Isle of Skye, "Saucy Mary's" was below standard. The other accommodations were great, but this one was definitely the low point of the trip.

He covered the Orkney and Highlands portion of the Compass Buster tour. He showed little viewed sights and all the major ones, making each a personal view into the very turbulent Scottish history. I came away with a enlightened view of this land and it's people. Michael covered the Hebrides, and Skye portion of the trip with the same euthusium and knowledge as Lee. Traveling amount of miles covered in this tour can be tough both on the guide and travelers, but both guides made it fun and fresh. Thanks Haggis Tours and especially Lee and Michael for this unforgettable experience.
