What people love about Medellin Tours
- Private Service I Best-Selling Journey: One Week in Bogotá, Medellín & Cartagena — Domestic Flights Included
Thank you for a terrific wonderful outstanding vacation for us. It was one to remember forever. The team was amazing. From a birthday cake for our son, to cold water bottles delivered unexpectedly in the middle of a hot Santa Marta tour, even loaning me money until I found an atm, the team is exceptional. The best. I highly recommend them.
- Private Service I Getaway to Colombia: Medellín & Cartagena — Domestic Flight Included
I give this tour 5 stars. Communications with Tour Radar began weeks prior to our trip. Andrea was so awesome to work with. She answered all of my questions and went above and beyond by finding an error with our flights that we booked through AeroMexico. It was a system-generated error by the airlines, but she found it and I was able to correct it with AeroMexico prior to our departure. She also was able to check us in when we had an issue with our domestic flight in Colombia. She followed us every step of the way of our tour. A+++. Our tour guide in Medellin, Mario, was awesome. Very punctual, professional and gave us a very detailed and interesting look at the city and its surroundings. In Cartegena, our guide Oscar was also punctual and professional. We learned a lot about the cities and the culture of Colombia. Great trip...Everything went smoothly with no issues and we were very satisfied. I have no problem recommending Tour Radar to others.

Amazing experience riding in Colombia. Beautiful landscapes, personalized trip, great coordination, family friendly and most of all, great people to share with!

El Poblado serves as the main tourist hub with its mix of upscale dining and energetic nightlife. The district houses quality accommodations like Hotel Poblado Plaza. Comuna 13 has evolved into a cultural center featuring outdoor escalators and walls covered in meaningful street art. Travelers often gather in Parque Lleras which one TourRadar visitor described as showing "the liveliness and beauty of both the city and its people at the thriving bars." The central area near Parque Berrio and Plaza Botero displays the city's artistic heritage through Botero's bronze sculptures while Nutibara Hill offers views across the valley and authentic Paisa culture.
What unique day trips can I take from Medellin?
Guatapé stands out as the essential day trip just 2 hours from Medellin. Visitors can take on the 740-step climb up El Peñol rock for views over the lake-filled landscape. Santa Elena shows off the region's flower traditions through its silleta culture. A TourRadar traveler noted "Our highlight was Guatape and The Rock! Get fit and climb it." The Parque Arví reserve connects to the city by cable car offering hiking paths through mountain forests.
How many days should I spend in Medellin for a comprehensive experience?
A 3-4 day visit allows time to see both city highlights and nearby attractions. Plan two days for urban exploration including Comuna 13 Plaza Botero and rides on the Metrocable network. Use extra days for trips to places like Guatapé and Santa Elena. According to one TourRadar visitor "We got to see so much in a short amount of time. All tour guides were great and very knowledgeable." Most itineraries include stays at established hotels like Hotel Poblado Plaza in El Poblado.
What's the best way to experience local culture in Medellin?
The city's public spaces and neighborhoods offer direct ways to connect with local life. The Parque Biblioteca España reached by Metrocable provides cultural context while the bustling Minorista Market introduces visitors to regional foods and fruits. Plaza Botero's collection of 23 bronze sculptures tells stories through art. The city earns its nickname "City of Eternal Spring" with consistent temperatures between 72-82°F (22-28°C). Rain falls most heavily from April to May and September to November while December through February brings drier days.
